The "Ole Man" picks up the final car in his 4 for 1 trade. We have already picked up the 1963 Comet, two 1979 Chevrolet C10s, and now this 1970 VW Beetle. It has been sitting for over 20 years. Will is move easily? Will the engine turn over. All these questions answered on this episode of RevStoration.

When you were trying to figure out how to get the belt off, I was yelling at the computer…”There’s a repair manual on the back seat!”😂
I know... we often do it the hard way..
Our next door neighbor when I was growing up in the 50’s and 60’s always had a bug. First, an old split window, then a ‘62, ‘67 and finally a’72. I never understood the attraction (we all liked hot rods then), but he was a celebrated engineer and a pilot (built his own airplane). Must have known something we didn’t.
They were good in the snow, I remember. The pan bottom acted like a toboggan and slid over everything. And when they did get stuck, one or two people could lift the whole back end up, and off you go
Enjoyed the episode! You are blessed to still have your Dad around, mine died in 2014 and I sure do miss him. I broke a tractor engine loose one time by putting a wrench on the crank, and then a cheater bar, and then a heavy tractor wheel weight. I lubed up the cylinders good and let it sit, I checked back a few days later and it had moved. I was then able to get it to turn over. God bless, glad people like y'all are still around!
I used to have a '73 super beetle and it was throwing oil everywhere I bought a new set of heads and put them in and drove it for about 5 years then sold it to a guy who wanted to tow it behind his RV. So with a little work they can get running again. That engine of yours is stuck with a capitol "S". But you can take them apart and parts are readily available. Made it through my first 3 days of Chemo Therapy need it every 28 days until the B-Cell Lymphoma is killed off.

Me and the wife just started watching yin's guys. And when you prayed for those to be safe during the aftermath of the storm. That sealed the deal. Keep up the great work yin's guys
Watching you and your father interact makes me miss mine........glad you're cherishing these moments, this goes out to both of you
That was a risky rescue! I was really nervous for you all. When I broke my clutch, it would start, but I could not shift into any gear with the engine running. But it could shift with the engine off. I had to start it in 4th in the parking garage and drive 20 miles home without stopping for traffic lights. Luckily it was light traffic because it was very late at night. I supposed I could have shut off at the traffic lights and started it in 4th again, but it wasn't easy the first time.
If I were Mr. Wayne, I'd have lost me a farm animal after I saw what he was doing to my cars. But gained a freezer of steaks.
Great stuff, Rev. I'd like to see the Barracuda at Wayne's house revived.
Pop pppp?

I bet you herbie was antagonizing that bull and the bull got the best of him 😂

I truly enjoy watching y'all work on ol rides!! God Bless y'all and stay safe!!
Hello Rev' and . Dad' "ol Man') I'm sorry no disrespect! If my dad was still alive he'd be 94'-96' lied bout age to be drafted! Luv u and your family bond
Congratulations Rev David on the Bug. Going to have to get a new belt pulley. And just see where it goes. Thanks for sharing!
I’m excited for the square body’s series
I love old VW Beetles! I'm so happy y'all are working on this old rig. You and your family really brighten up my day with your videos. God bless. Deuces!
You guys are funny you work very hard on vehicle hopefully you will on stuck the motor big supper fan of the channel and say hi to the family thanks
I saw a video on another channel yesterday where a guy did everything to get a bad engine to turn. The whole time I was thinking, "What makes him think it is a matter of rust and not a spun bearing, or thrown rods like on my engines?" At the end he adds a comment that it wasn't a rust issue. If he kept trying to force it, he would have just made things worse if it was the same things mine were. Like cracking the block.
Most of the engine we work on are stuck because of sitting.. Engines that lock up while running would require a different method.. We have had 7 or 8 engines on this channel that was stuck, everyone was because of rust.. I would say 95 out of 100 are!
The split pulley is how you adjust the belt on a VW
Ya Boy, that rascal is stiff. Man, I sure love your channel. More importantly I hope you get to feeling better and I know our Heavenly Father will heal you. Prayers coming to you for sure.
Man my gut is just killing me! dude you are so awesome! all of you guys and the way bet you got a determination for something and not scared about it! I wish I could go to your sermons sometime.... I think you guys are awesome❤❤that technique of loosening the brakes with the chain and the truck, I'm definitely going to remember that one you taught me something today😜
thankyou Mr Wayne . good job Mates.
Hey Rev. As usual. Another great video. Look forward each week to seeing you and the Ole Man. You are a blessing to us here at Kustom Motors in SC. Keep on keeping on. Much Love for you and your family down at the tail end of the world. God Bless.
The adjustment is in the pully you add or take away shims two peace pully
HAPPY SUNDAY REV AND FAMILY YOU AND DAD CAN DO IT
Hope you all get it running dosent look that bad, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Rev, thanks for taking the time to personally reply to my comments. I really like all your content. I even watched a church service a couple of weeks ago on facebook and I think it was a fine service. It was the one where the young man got baptized.
I've got a few neglected project cars myself. A little bit of everything. I'm always wondering if I should UA-cam something about them.
I'm sure folks would watch. They watch us.
@@RevStoration 👍
Hope you get to feeling better. Praying for you and all the people that were in those storms. 🙏 🙏
I agree working on anything is fun, and I get the jokes 😂😂 I can't complain got a 97 Expedition with 330k miles runs like new, a 2000 Camaro 236k miles currently going threw redoing alot old parts starting to give out but is a daily driver, Ford vs Chevy both sides have good jokes it's all good fun 😂😂
I really look forward to your videos! Ones just as aewsome as the other! Ole puddin will be ok! I know how it is, me and Ole puddin are alot alike lol! We ain't as young as we used to be lol! Sometime we need a little work to put a little hitch in our giddy up lol!! You guys are aewsome! God bless.
Late reply but I'm really surprised you got a bug on your channel but when you first said them magic words my eyes started looking everywhere and that was cuda I mean WOW what a car them are
Great, so entertaining..God Bless You All.
The old man loves his chainsaw don't he.i miss my daddy I love seeing y'all working together my dad was called old man he was my best friend God bless yal
Feel better soon!
Don't let that VW, bug you!
Its a 1970 large round tail lights started in 1973
I think 1970 was the first year for the wrap around frint turn signals with side markers. I had a 66 and a 73. Lived them both.
You guys have a great sense of humor and put out some awesome content. Keep up the great work and keep the fun rolling 👍✌️🇺🇲
Revstoration and Sleeperdude what a sunday.
I know that's how I spent my Sunday afternoon.
@@davidprice7075 you have good taste.
It don't need antifreeze but it does need some anti-stuck.
Using the wrench on the crank bolt can strip your crank threads. I saw it happen a few times on UA-cam "will it run " videos. Or break the bolt.
On my bad 302 in a new project car, I decided I would use the wrench to turn the engine backwards. That way if I put too much pressure on, the bolt would unscrew, rather than break.
It was already free, but it turned only with a large amount of force in either direction. To much hard turning for a starter to turn. I'd done all the lube-in-the-cylinders stuff. Also, it didn't hiss every 90 degrees I turned it or alter the force needed to turn the crank with the wrench. So, no compression. And probably spun bearings.
Yeppers
I haven't heard those called toboggan since I was a kid in East Texas
All I've known them as... things we learn on RevStoration
@@RevStoration me too up north people think I'm nuts
Winter wrenchin' in Mr. Wayne's fields is a harder business than an 80 degree day in the yard with Nikki T serving up lemonade. Sorry about that cramp Rev. They nasty like a cold bee sting.
thank you all for sharing this video
Our pleasure!
Hey buddy good luck keep warm good luck see y'all soon
Hope you get better soon
The old man needs to sharpen that chain 😂
We agree.. rubbing the trees down.
@@RevStoration love the channel. New subscriber
@@after5auto133 Thanks for watching... We are truly honored that people watching our crazy adventures...
They're easy to work on. About 5 bolts and drop the motor.
Cool video Rev. Now to the car wash
This is painful to watch!! But good on ya for saving another beetle.
Nice video on old cars man hell yeah im doing that this year starting old vichles come watch me this summer buddy
Hey Rev you guys are the best to watch! A new adventure on every video! But hey this VW would make a great first start video when you get the old girl unstuck!
Great video glad you posted keep them coming thanks
In all the years I worked on the old bugs only saw two locked up.
One we found had been in the lake and the other had a broken rod.
Man. nice but you could have just looked in the service manual on the back seat, would of been easier !
Hope y'all get better soon buddy
Hey Rev hope you feel better soon!
It’s a shame you hide all that beautiful hair under a hat!!! ❤❤😂😂. #baldismyfavorite Love you!!
Love you babe!
Nice video!👍🛠️😁
Great effort 👍 try diesel down the spark plug holes to help free up engine .I’ve 33 aircools in U.K. if you need help /advice .
You need a turkey multiplier to break that nut free it has over 250 foot pounds of tork on it
How many turkeys would it take?😂😂😂
That bull made that beetle look like it was a rental car that had seen some air time a few times in its life.
Hey what's up with the 73 barracuda under the tarp????
you could put it in gear and drag it out might loosen the motor. as with any old car the bugs eat battery trays lol
Tried it but it drug the tires... we will get it.
could that be a chevy that your draqgging that bug and all those fords with? LOL
It looks like that bug was squished a few times. Hilarious watching you guys drag it around to get that wheel loose. What is the story on that Barracuda?
Not for sale... don't you know we tried.
@@RevStoration I would have tried too.😎
Lol I was wondering if the barracuda was for sale too. Glad I read the comments first to see if someone else already asked
Hey rev. Let the old man know that his passenger side tail light is out.
He has a switch that is causing havoc with his lights on the truck... thanks for letting me know.
A solid #2 !!
If I am not mistaken, the larger taillights came out in 1974
I think that bull had the right idea. If you see a bug, squash it... Nice try, gentlemen. 👍
I had a 70 VW Bug Convertible in College same color white top and white interior
Rev your dad is right put it on the dolly and s top being a hard head
no fun in that.... the clutch cable was broken so neither would have worked....
Hello Rev and the ole man
I think the larger tail lights started around 1972
1973 😉
@@vayabroder729 sounds right
The old man seems preoccupied today
He was... his name was Wayne... But we still had a blast.
Now that's a job
Guys the top pulpy comes apart to take the belt off I had one and that’s how I change the belts
From what I've done, if there are ANY problems with a VW Bug engine, pull it out first. It is just too easy. Now seeing you move that one, yeah, just start tearing it apart.
Def a 70.big turning signals on front fenders and no “moon” vents on rear 1/4 panels
He’s keeping that cuda
Mustie1 is the go to guy on bugs
Belt adjustment on a bug?
Top generator/ alternator pulls has shims. Remove and add to adjust belt tightness.
70 and 71 flat window supers and beetles had the two louvers instead of the newer 4 sets
Do you guys know how to work on VWs? Personally I wouldn't know where to start
Nope... just digging in..
Speaking of Sleeperdude he might buy that v dub off of you.
Are you sure? It's not a Fairmont
@@davidprice7075 his oldest daughter wants a beetle
Rev getchu some black or duct tape and wrap around the hook n chain. That chain won't unhook.
Car in good job.
I had a 1960 VW but I had to sale it…it always bugged my 😂
Push clutch in
It is in neutral.. unless we wanted it in gear.. Thanks for watching!
the adjustment is on the generator pulley by tightening it
add or remove shims
Hope you can get it running
I got a 75 beetle I'm about to start restoring on my channel it's seen better days then this poor old thing!! 🙂
I love to find one of the beetles and make dunes buggy out of it
Best video you've had
Wow Wow the vw
I bet the Emergency Brake works
I love watching all your videos also my first time being the first comment !!!🎉
I want you to know that im one of the guys complaining about you complaining about Chevys but im just kidding with you too. Its hard to put sarcasmw in a text lol
