I created custom audience but when I go to campaign to select it, the custom audience segment I created is missing. I tried search and browse both. What could be the reason? Thanks.
Very well explained, I found the video extremely useful but I'm struggling at the step where I can select the custom audience. At 12:27 you have the custom audience available in the list. I saved mine but is not there. How is that possible? Thank you
Also, maybe you could help : i would like to start new TOFU Display campaigns from scratch. I have 4 ideal clients and 5-6 groups of products. Would you recommend to launch 4 campaigns for each ideal client Or Launch 4 campaigns for my biggest categories but target with keywords ? Thanks
Is it better to segment your locations when selecting a google ad? basically if im creating a campaign I don't know if I should segment the location and put the countries where I want this publicity to appear.
Hi Ginotv, for me this would depend on a couple of issues related to your product. Like do you have different pricing or policies for different countries, or is there a difference in the search terms in different countries. For example: for a Bali holiday villa resort campaign I run I just have 1 set of campaigns that target our most popular english speaking countries. While for a baby ear muff campaign that I run I added segmentation by countries as in the USA & Australia people search for "ear muffs" while in the UK the search traffic is for "ear defenders". Another good way to look at it is do you want to seperate your budgets based on countries? If this is the case I would then add the location segments. I hope that helps
Hi there, what would you say is the current optimal bidding strategy go-to for smaller ad budget eCommerce websites? I'm thinking of doing manual CPC SKAGs. Or is that not a good idea? Cannot find much up-to-date info regarding these topics since Google merged Target CPA and Target ROAS with other bidding strategies.
Mine isn't working it says "entity not updated" is it because the ad campaign was originally a Smart one? If so, how do I re-make a campaign with the exact settings of my current one?
Thanks for these valuable informations ... but i have a question .. can i get that keywords from keyword planner to get the search volume enoght for that keywords or its not important ?
Since we can see how each audience performs in the Audience report, I typically start with all of them in one ONLY IF the same ad message and landing page experience applies to all selected audiences. You can always split them out later if needed.
Hello and thank you so much for this awesome video.... If I want to create Display camp. should I use the first option only: "People with any of these interests or purchase intentions"? and can not use the second option: "People who searched for any of these terms on Google" unless in UA-cam and Discovery campaigns...And... Does that mean that the first option is low quality than the second option?
For Display you’d have to use the interests and purchase intentions option. The other option is only for campaigns that stay on Google properties to retain first party information.
Thank you for your video! Question, for Display if you have placements and audience segments going what happens? Are they independent of each other or does the audience segment filter through the placements.
Thanks or the video. I created the audiance, but when I want to add it, it doesn't give me a chance to find it even by clicking Browse. Do you know how to fix this problem? Thanks!
Hard to say without seeing the account. Certain campaign types like Target Frequency don't allow Custom Segments. Possibly the audience doesn't have enough users in it. Or it could just be a glitch.
Excellent video. I've created a custom segment but when I go back to my campaign or create a new one, I don't have the option (in search or browse) to use a custom segment audience. My Custom Segments are clearly in Audience Manager but not available to use. What am I doing wrong?
Hi Jay, without being in the account, it's hard to help troubleshoot. Be sure you're only trying to use Custom Segments on Display, Video, or Discovery campaigns. They are not eligible to show on Search campaigns. If that's not the issue, you'll likely have a better chance reaching out to support. Good luck!
@@PaidMediaPros I feel mis-lead because you emphasised on choosing the 2nd option for interest and behaviour as it is for campaign running on google properties [for search network] but I cant even use it when creating a search ad.
New to Google Ads. But in our account, under ad group, when we click on Audience, we only see "Exclusions", there is no way for us to add Audience Segments. (We already build Audience Segment, just cant use that in Ad group - it doesnt even give us that option). Please help.
Very nice information about display ads audience. I would like to ask one question. I want to target the sites which has the business related keywords. For e.g. The sites have the content relevant to the keywords 'baby products', 'baby prams', 'toddler prams', etc. keywords. How can I do that?
We'd first recommend looking up placements. Try and find websites or UA-cam channels exactly related to what your target audience might like. Then we recommend creating Custom Audience Segments. We have a video going over them which could be helpful. ua-cam.com/video/VjRhQyM9_TU/v-deo.html
I’d create a list of keywords, SKUs, etc of those products and make a custom segment from those. Get in front of people who have searched for those on Google or UA-cam in the past.
Hi, I have custom segments created on my Google Ads account but when I tried to add them to my campaigns they do not appear on the segment list, they don't even appear on the browser. Hope you can help me. Thanks
thanks foe you video. very well explained. Is it good to mix a custom audience with dispaly/video keywords as targeting for a campagin? or is it better to separate the two of them: creating one campaign with custom audience and one that uses keywords? Thanks
I’d keep them together at first. You’d be able to see performance for each targeting option after the ad group runs. If you see a clear difference in performance between the two, you can break them out into different campaigns for better budget control.
@@jiaoshiandreacastrogiovann4314 This is a good follow up question, I'm wondering the same. Sometimes it seems to narrow the audience - like within campaign creation when you enter in topics/keywords/placements. But in other cases, when you're adding it after the campaign is created to your custom/in-market/affinity segments in the content section, it appears to expand the audience and show unique data for each individually.
I’m wondering if using [exact match keywords] is applicable when creating the search terms: just so (specially for the smart campaigns) google don’t go after the broad match therms …
Thank You for the video. Quick question: Why would they get rid of the "Custom Intent"? Are they doing this so they can put more money in their pockets. How do we get precise now with our audience. Custom Intent was kinda equivalent to "Exact Phrase Match". Now with this Custom Segments, when we input a website who's visitors we want to target, You said Google will target people who visits sites like these instead of people who actually visited the particular site. I think this is kinda a Bummer on Googles end.😔 So how do You suggest we approach this, if I want to target a particular websites audience? Any help would be GREATLY Appreciated! Thank You and God Bless!
His Competitor Terms Custom Segment audience at 8:27 is a great alternative and helps you target users who have searched for your competitor's. You attract them with better creatives. I personally had an "Aha" moment there.
Hey Joe Awesome video ! thank you for explaining so well. I have one query if you could help me with it. The google search terms you added while making the custom audience, what match type does google consider while matching those entered terms to the google searches? Google ads console mentions: "Your ad will reach people who search for similar terms". Now, how does google define these "similar" terms? are they exact match of what keywords we enter here? or is it phrase or broad match or something else entirely? I'd appreciate if you could elaborate. Thank you.
In some ways yes. But people searching on Google and UA-cam to make some of these audiences is not third party data. So it will definitely still be a valuable audience targeting option
Thanks for posting this! Can these custom segments be used in dynamic search ads? I can see that they can be used for display campaigns, but not for any search campaigns.
If I understood it correctly, the second option while creating your audience "People who search for any...on Google" works for Google Search, RLSA, UA-cam, and also Discovery campaigns.

When these audiences started out as custom intent audiences, Google used broad match terms. I can only assume it’s still the same.
how to use custom audience in apps install?
You can't add audiences to an app install campaign. That campaign type is fully automated. Make sure your app descriptions are very well optimized.
So audience segments are useful only for display ads and not search ads?
Custom ones yes. We’d still recommend adding as many regular as you like as Observation audiences for better insights for Search
