What about keywords with no data on low/top bids? Is it worth including a few of those (along with keywords with data) if they're the right fit, are perfect for targeting the right audience?
Once a business finds a winning formula, scaling becomes more manageable. This proactive approach helps ensure sustainable growth without overextending financial resources.
Even as a seasoned SEA specialist I got some useful tips out of this. Especially the more aggressive approach towards less profitable keywords and adding more low cost keywords in general. What is your recommended bidding strategy with a search campaign on a low budget in a new account? Thank you!
Hey Ben, quick question. Regarding search ads for a plumber, I just got my first client as a freelancer and as per advice from others I was planning on creating ad groups for multiple different offers from the start. Would you say according to your advice I should stick to the general plumbing terms and maybe just a single offer for a particular higher profit margin service? Then afterwards develop other ad groups for other services?
Hey Ben! Your content is top-tier! I'm working on creating my own Google Ads agency here in Argentina, and the way you've built your brand and company is truly inspiring to me. Keep up the great work!
I have around 250 SKUs listed on marketplaces, and I would like to add these products to Google so that people searching on Google can buy from us. Is it possible to make money purely by selling these brands without advertising? All our products are beauty-related-nothing else. We are doing well on the marketplaces, but relying solely on them feels limiting, so I want to diversify. My question is: would people be able to find us without ads, just by connecting our shop to Google and listing all our products on our website? Thank you! Best regards, Ben
Really interesting video. What type of bidding strategy do you in the beginning for a client with a small budget? First maximize click with a max cpc and then later you switch to maximize conversion strategy?

I have to agree with the OP. They’re not interested in anybody who doesn’t manage campaigns for people. You can’t even get proper support from them unless you’re a marketing manager. Also I started with a £250.00 smart campaign and was getting 20 plus enquiries a day. If you make the mistake of increasing your budget because you’re having a quiet period ie, accepting googles recommendations for your campaign. Which always involves spending more money. They quickly cotton on and constantly keep pestering you. If you don’t accept their suggestions, your quality score is decreased even if you have no more competition, no companies have popped up over night. (It’s easy for me to monitor this because it’s a very niche market) don’t know why you’re defending the OP’s statement because from my experience of 6 years plus. They’re happy to take your money but don’t give a hoot about the smaller companies. If your campaign is running g perfectly at £250.00 a month. Why would you want to spend more unless they’re forcing you to do it with underhand tactics. I’ve been having to pay a manager and spend in excess of £600.00 a month. And it doesn’t bring in any more business. The click through rate ends up going down and all I do is spend more budget on clicks which don’t bring conversions. And I’ve been told by my old campaign manager, that Google absolutely do, do these things. I sang their praises for the first 2 years, the longer you stay with them. whether running it myself or paying a professional all that’s happened, is the effectiveness has tanked. And let’s not even go into how difficult they’ve made dealing with the technical side of things. They’re clearly assume everybody is a marketing manager with website master experience. It’s not really possible anymore to manage anything other than a smart campaign yourself. And smart campaigns are just geared towards clicks. No matter how much you try to rule out negative searches, you still waste 10’s of pounds on people that are searching for products when you provide a service and aren’t a supplier. Or people looking to buy tools etc etc
Great video Ben. When i set my campaigns off and I look to target certain key words I am getting charged x3 what the top of page bid is in some instances. Do you know why this is? Thanks in advance
Hey bro. I am getting a misrepresentation error in my google merchant account after I have made sure that my uploaded products meet every requirement. Please do you have some knowledge on that to help?
I've had a smart search campaign going for awhile and it performs well for my service based business. Are there any advantages to switching to a performance max campaign? I don't see much talk about the smart campaign, so I've been curious.
So smart search campaigns are effectively easier to create versions is search campaigns, but they don’t include everything Performance Max has. So if you want to scale, PMax is likely the way to go.
What would you recommend for e-commerce in DIY tools with multiple products in stock with like 20$ a day. Would you do shopping with all products or 1 or a few products? Search for all products or 1 product? What would be the best advice? Based on the Netherlands :)🇳🇱
Dear Ben it depends 100% on the Industry. Some industries its almost impossible to get in to with small budget. For example like Financial, insurance industries.
Hey, I actually have an agency, I do web design and PPC (I’m very niched so we’re likely not in competition haha) but unless you are very niched and established, I wouldn’t recommend it. Most people I know in the space don’t have any success therefore don’t bother with PPC for themselves. I personally don’t. Too much competition and not enough personalization to come up for “web design agency for [industry]”
@BenHeathGoogleAds Is there a video on that, lol? Are the broad principles the same? I've seen someone suggest choosing the "Add To Cart" conversion event rather than "Purchase" as it's meant to be cheaper...
Small budgets lose the Google auction, the ad will not appear in the first position of searches, which is the place that generates the most conversions
But aren't those who are willing to pay more for keywords always going to win? It's like a billboard that rents for $5000 a month and you're bidding $20. The billboard company is never going to rent to you. Even if you do get some response, it is going to be scammers, marketers and even other businesses in the same industry. Total waste of time and money.
Yes but with Google ads you have to option to rent a tiny fraction of the billboard. So you need to be willing to pay the most for a search on a certain keyword to be at the top of the page, but that one search might only cost you $1. If you can do that profitably you can reinvest and scale your budget. That's why small advertisers can play the Google ads game too. The bigger advertisers rent more of the billboard but that doesn't mean your ads won't work.
Size is always relative. My perception of a small budget is very different to what it used to be and I imagine yours will be too in 5 years or 10 years time :)
