Great demonstration guys , I am amazed that you got the brunt of them scratches out with gold standard polish, would you consider manufacturing a heavy cut polish in the future for really trashed clear coat?
Man, great job on the car, guys! I can't wait to do the full process on my car to prepare it for your 8 year coating (hopefully this weekend). I'm excited! Wish me luck! xD
@@diydetailofficial I'm planning to do the DIY Ceramic stack shortly, and I have a car with an older ceramic coating that needs to be removed first. I don't think I need a full paint correction, just a few scratch repairs and then I'd like to do the Red Jewelling DIY pad with gold standard polish. Will this remove the old ceramic coat or will i be required to do a yellow pad, followed by a red pad to fully remove my old ceramic coat? Thank you!
C6 ceramics account approved yesterday, dropped two grand on everything I need to start out with and will be expecting it by Friday. Can’t wait to see what this can do to my BMW and my Tesla. And my leibherr crane I use at work.
Those straight-line scratches on the rear hatch often are owner accidents inside their garage. I have had a few customers that opened it and it hit the closed door or the hatch hits the overhead door, an 'oops moment'. Nice technique and team effort
Oh this is perfect timing! I'm just trying to chase some scratches on my black Audi. I'll give the 555 a try! I've been using a 1" pad up until now....tedious!! 😅
Excellent vid as always. I love the simplicity of the process as well as the end results that you guys get. The teamwork the way you and Nick work makes the process so much quicker as well. I was surprised that you were using an orbital as opposed to a rotary polisher for this knowing how much you love the rotary....🙃
Wish an ipa wipe could have been used after correction. I know it was wiped with the rinseless solution but would have like to see the true condition after compound
can you guys do a video (or have a video) on the best way to remove polish / wax residue that gets onto the black plastic cladding that typically shows up the next day in a whiteish look that's a PIA to get off typically.. I've used dawn and a tooth brush and pencil erasers that seems to work best for me so far , there has to be something better!! of course us peasants can tape it but even still if we end up with a spot...
I've got a 2012 era BMW that has some holograms and lots of car wash swirls. They are all very fine and not deep, but the clear coat seems to be exceptionally hard. I have a 21mm machine with Gold Standard polish and your wool pad. I can't seem to get anywhere at speed 3. 5-5-5 method seems to help, but I don't really want to do that to the whole car. Any suggestions?
Yvan, I have a couple questions. I do know you're doing some correction here. But, I have always seen you use and promote setting 1 on the machine. What made you use setting/speed 5? I also typically see you do what (in my brain) equals 3 passes. As an example side to side, up and down, then side to side again. They overlap but for the sake of the question 3 lol. I am newer to the chanel and may have missed something previous to this, so please don't hear anything as snarky. It's an actual question and no sarcasm implied. Everything you do has a reason behind it. Just trying to fine it here:).
Currently I pitch this as a Polish package and treat the scratch removal as an add-on for each scratch/defect, i.e $25 per scratch or whatever. To me it seems like a case by case custom package to avoid under/overcharging. Does that make sense or would a single package be a better UX?
One big thing I am noticing....no hearing protection. It's so important especially if you're spending several minutes (or more) exposed to the sound from both buffing machines.
On a car the size of a Dodge charger how often do you change out the polishing and or cutting pads? How many would be necessary for a car this size? The only thing I have is a small brush to clean the pads with during the cutting and or polishing? Thanks
We only use one pad, but keep it clean. Here’s a few different ways to keep your pads clean. ua-cam.com/video/wsxWcCuspug/v-deo.htmlsi=m2oXqnQdNQb7F0Qw
How do get the rotary to stop slinging polish everywhere. I’ve tried fully flat, at an angle, slower at speed and no luck. Seems that when the polish gets on the edges of the pad it goes everywhere. Any advise?
@@diydetailofficial sounds good. My pads should get here Friday. I’ll give them a try, thanks! Last thing… I only have an 8mm throw porter cable, with the wool pad should I run at speed 5 or 6 to make up for the short throw?
@diydetailofficial ok good to know I haven't tried any of your products yet but in the process to gave them a try And I've been looking for red gloves on Amazon and never find any

Just when I was thinking of how to tackle my next job, this is exactly what I needed! Thank you guys for all you do.
Happy to help!
Even though the vehicle was shiny you can tell that the polishing added more depth to the paint. Great work and very efficient process.
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow that sticky tape pro tip is why we watch these videos. Never thought of that! You guys are KILLING IT!

A gorgeous colour, nicely refined with a pragmatic approach, ending with a fine, gloss finish, chapeau gents, nice teamwork! 👏.

Wow. The tape trick and staying away from the chrome is worth an order from you guys.

Not in our plans, with the wool pad, 25mm DA and DIY Detail Gold Standard Polish that’s as agressive as you should be.

What is the best way to get scratches and swirls off of the satin chrome trim?
Unfortunately, replacing it

You can wipe it with anything, DIY Detail Gold Standard Polish has no fillers

The best is to use DIY Detail Gold Standard Polish with our gold foam pad. It deep cleans, and leaves nothing behind.
Could you have done a pass over Nick’s polish with the red pad on a rotary for extra gloss?
Yes
How cool, you make it look so easy.
That’s because it is easy
quick question, how come nick doesn’t use the red pad instead of the yellow?
Personal choice
Yvan, you mention in the video not to polish the parking sensors. Is that advise is for the wool pad only or for any of the pads? Thanks in advanced.
You can polish them, just not aggressively
@diydetailofficial Thank you 💪💯
Can you guys recommend an inexpensive inspection light for a DIYer who may use one once or twice a year?
The one used on Nick’s cart is great

@@diydetailofficial of course, like always! Almost each time, I learn something new even if I listen to you both since like 5-6 years!
So no need to tape of lights, black trim, rubber or chrome trim? Amazing!
Correct
Could u use a dry erase board marker or a washable crayon?
Ideally no, they can stain the paint
Can I go wool to red without the yellow in between? Thanks in advance!
Yes
When are you restocking the 5 year ceramic kit? Thanks
The coating is available, it’s the polish that’s back ordered

Sounds fair
What did Yvan see ( or not see) on the rear bumper when he decided it was time to clean his pad?
We never put clean polish on a dirty pad.
Hey guys is there a synthetic or cotton alternative to the wool pad?
Wool has unique properties that are highly desirable. There are microfibre pads, but they generate a lot of heat.
One big thing I am noticing....no hearing protection. It's so important especially if you're spending several minutes (or more) exposed to the sound from both buffing machines.
The machines sound loud on the video, in reality they are only about 70db
Great to have some noise canceling headphones to get some music/podcasts going
Agreed
@@monstershayne I always detail to either music or podcasts🙂 Keeps the mind engaged and the annoying polisher level noise down

Do you use the 5 5 5 method when using a certain pad and polish or can it be done with a cutting pad and cutting polish

How often should we be re-spraying polish?
For every section

Speed five is one of the 3 5’s in the 555 method
