  • At DIY Detail, we often teach the process of FINISH polishing with a rotary polisher and our rotary jeweling pad. But what about a 1-step polish and seal? That's what this video is all about -- bringing shine, and gloss, to dull paint. With just one pad, one machine, and one polish!

With that said, a good portion of this video focuses on the prep process. Proper preparation of the paint (wash, decontamination, even Water Spot Remover) is essential for best polishing results.

Ivan, Nick - what's up? I have been a weekend warrior since I was 16 (almost 58 now) and now I have some pretty severe detailing OCD 😂 I am more than competent with a DA, and I did buy a cheap (Chicago Electric) rotary from Harbor Freight many moons ago, but I've only used it a few times, as I was basically afraid of it and the high speeds.
I've started watching your channel and saw this video. I figured. "Why Not?" and picked up a few waffle pads. I just got in from the garage, after polishing the top surfaces of my car. You are right on the money. Speed "1" and light movements are awesome. Even with only a medium polish, all but the absolute deepest scratches are gone (I'm not entirely sure they can be removed anyway).
The waffle pad IS better than the flat pad, there is a noticeable difference in the pad/machine "thinking for itself" and wanting to walk. I do have one issue, my polisher is VERY heavy. So I actually have to LIFT some of the machine's weight off the pad, or it gets twitchy.
AWESOME technique and process though, works GREAT!!

My dad who recently passed was a king and making his own beer and it was the best I've ever had with an average of 8 or 9 different kegs on tap. Now I know exactly what I'm going to do with a couple of his kegs and keep his joy of beer in my garage with my passion for car detailing. Thank you guys this actually got me pretty emotional, and thank you for the great product you continue to put out on the market.

Hi there! A question if you will. I'm about to take on polishing my 2013 Jeep Wrangler that has pre existing swirl marks on the paint from car washes. Should I use just Gold Standard Polish during the polishing phase? Or in your opinions would it be wiser to compound first with something I have around the garage (I think Meguiars Ultimate Compound) first? I'm looking for the best result possible. Granted my Jeep looks pretty good already using your products with it.

Prerise with rinseless, spray off, at that point I cover car in rinseless again and start going pannel per pannel and drying right after, how to modify it to add iron and clay and do I do decon pannel per pannel as well and rinse it right after and dry???

I'm from Australia so I can't purchase your exact products yet but I've got an orange waffle pad and am using Meguiar's UC.
No pressure low speed rotary slightly damp and covering an area about 10 times over gives me ~50% scratch removal. There are still a lot of visible swirls but looks glossier for sure.
