I purchased a used one as the piece is a bit pricey, but the machine ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxG6fbm3cHBd7CNTjk5D-dwYe9c9tCB9ZN has surpassed my expectations. We sand small parts by hand often, sized around 1"x1/2," and specifically look for a piece that's designed to be vertical. The motor has plenty of torque and great speed settings. The only inconvenience I had is that the disk measures 5" where we trim 6" stick-and-sand disks down easily by mounting it then cutting with a box cutter.
There was probably a pound of sand deep into the fibers and in the padding below the carpet itself in this particular vehicle. And this is very true I publicly speak all the time and I go into great depth with my discussions on a variety of topics. That's why I created a detailing oriented UA-cam channel many years ago. It's for detailers who like the details. I used to watch a lot of other detailing channels. I would often see comments which I would always read every single one of. And many comments would say could you please just get to the point and not talk so much to various other detailers on UA-cam. They probably don't understand that anything less than 10 minutes does not get the same algorithms and therefore will not get commercials between different segments of the video which are money making for all involved. I could probably make all of my videos that I've ever made in under 5 minutes. But I wouldn't want to do that because it would be stupid. This response is unnecessarily long because you are triggered by my speech mannerisms. I hope you enjoy my videos and believe me when I listen to them during editing which I do a tiny amount of I say to myself Jesus Christ get to the point Jeff. So in some small ways I agree with you completely. Have a wonderful Labor Day, I hope you enjoy it with family and friends. Thanks for being part of my channel, JJ
@gwendolynedmonds4449 yeah that's usually my first step, really helps to loosen things up. I use my Tornador velocity blower tool. Have you tried this method using a DA / palm sander?
You just pull it off, which is quite easy, like any velcro. If you leave it in one spot too long you can damage the carpet. All carpets are different. You can build up heat which can "melt" certain carpets. When in doubt, hire a professional. A palm sander can work too. Any vibrating tool could work. Even one of those vibrating things they use in massage by masseuse. They do the same thing and are safe.
@@deluxevehicledetailingandp904 it’s actually not quite easy because it’s Velcro and it’s stuck . It does come off but with great force , strength and a strong consistent pull. I mean you have to really pry it off .
@sherrrahmad9608 All carpet is different. If your velcro is new, it will have more grip. I live by the beach and have done this on 100's of vehicles. Never had any problems removing it. It will react differently on certain carpet types. Toyota/Honda with that felt like carpet it can leave a mark if you leave it in one spot too long. Keep adjusting where you place it. DON'T PUSH IT DOWN HARD. You just want the vibration, set it on the lowest setting where it just stalls in place. Hope these tips help.
@@deluxevehicledetailingandp904 I have one Subaru, 2015 RAV4 and two Nissan Rogues. I hate all their carpets to be honest. All four cars are Turo cars and I'm cleaning them constantly.
It was fine. I will say that you need to make sure to NOT leave it in one place... pull it off and move it to different spots. ESPECIALLY on the impossible/feltlike carpet. I've never damaged it doing this way, but others have because they left it in ONE SPOT. Let me know how it went.
Firstly, the size of the vehicle matters. What work the client is paying for matters. The severity and amount of sand would matter. All my work has 3 pricing tiers. 1) Daily driver 2) Enthusiast 3) Show Car Depending on the type of car and type of client I'm price quoting. Typically I would add $50.00 to a Daily Driver with an average amount of sand throughout the cabin of a sedan sized car. Good question ! Are you in my area and need sand removal ? Are you going to try my technique yourself ?
@@deluxevehicledetailingandp904 I own my own detailing business kinda new trying to set my own prices and stuff and I think I undercharged for a job. There’s a Honda Fit I have to detail that just got back from the beach I’m doing a full interior clean and it has plenty of sand and I charged $75 🤦🏾♂️
Well this was just an old cheap Harbor Freight polisher that had an issue with the speed control. The nice thing about using a dual action polisher is that you can set it on a fairly low speed setting and then basically it just stalls and vibrates which is what you want. I've been using the same polisher for doing this job for about 3 or 4 years and it still works perfectly. Remember you're using this just for a minute or so on each section of the carpet. Also it can get hot if stalling for too long and can damage certain types of "felty" type of carpet like in Toyotas/Hondas. I turn it off and unstick the velcro from the carpet and move it into a different area so I don't stay in the same exact spot too long. Hope this helps let me know how you did
Yes every type of carpet will have a different grip on the velcro and to get it so it stalls and vibrates you need to have a speed control setting. I had picked up a couple of these Harbor Freight Chicago Electric DA polishers many years ago to have his backups if my Rupes for Shurehold ever gave mechanical problems. One of them actually still runs strong and is a designated 3-in dual action polisher. But this one something with the dial control is kind of messed up where sometimes it works when you slide the dial and sometimes it doesn't so it's not very dependable which is why it is a carpet Shaker at this time but still works fine with a little messing around I could probably take it apart and fix it easy enough but I've got 9 polishers so I don't really need it.
The algorithms of You Tube dictate how things go. They need to insert commercials or they won't let more peeps see it on the feed. PLUS.... YEAH I TALK A LOT 🤣❗️Honestly, Thank you for watching, trust me, when I play back my own videos I say out loud GET TO THE EF POINT ❗️
I try to keep on the point and cover everything thoroughly. The algorithms of YT prefer longer videos to get their commercials in, so I've got to keep that in mind while making videos.

this is the cheapest DA available, at Harbor Freight
Too funny! I just got my dad's Forester and the same carpet is embedded with debris. I will have to try this!
You'll be amazed how much debris of all type come jumping up out of the carpet doing this. Let me know how it worked out for you
Why you are talking too much? Idea is good
Sorry if it's too much, the way YT works is that longer videos do better for the algorithms,
Subbed buddy, like the explanations and showing how it works. 👌
Glad you found it helpful
you could've done this in 60 seconds but you like to hear yourself talk too much

how do you remove the sander now that you have it glued to the carpet because it’s Velcro

Nice to know even the newer Subarus have crap carpet design. See the gaps?
Yeah now they pretty much all suck, but I still think Honda and Toyota are the worst. They're actually known as IMPOSSIBLE CARPET.

Did you have to hold the sander??
Not really, you just want it to stall and vibrate
Howd the carpet looks like after

@cophesap1576 this is from Harbor Freight, but Google Duel Action Polisher to find. Also a square palm sander will do the same thing

Probably easiest to use a cheap palm sander, as long as it uses a velcro plate

Yes, the algorithms of YT dictate what length of videos they will promote and they want to fit commercials in. I do 1 minute videos on TikTok

Thanks man give it a try with either a palm sander or kind of stall a DA polisher, it brings up so much sand that otherwise would never come out
What kind of attachment, were to buy.
just buy a velcro backing plate for any dual action polisher, or any palm sander will vibrate up the sand
Thanks for you video,and reply.
