  • Troubleshooting a 2017 Mercedes C-Class 250D: NOx Sensor and High Fuel Consumption Fix
Welcome to our comprehensive vehicle diagnostic journey with a 2017 Mercedes C-Class 250D! In this video, we delve into a detailed technical assessment addressing a customer's concerns about a faulty Bank One NOx Sensor and unusually high fuel consumption. Subscribe to our channel for more insightful automotive repair videos and expert tips.
    *Introduction:*
A customer approached us after renting a couple of garage spaces, frustrated with ongoing issues with their 2017 Mercedes C-Class 250D. The initial reports suggested a problem with the NOx Sensor 2. Despite these warnings, traditional diagnostics failed to pinpoint any emission system errors. This intriguing case led us to undertake a thorough examination to uncover the root cause of the vehicle’s symptoms.
    *Initial Assessment:*
We began our assessment by connecting the car to our advanced diagnostic tools. Despite thorough checks, no fault codes were recorded in the vehicle's emission system, which was both unusual and challenging. This led us to expand our diagnostic approach to cover broader potential issues that could be affecting the vehicle's performance.
    *Discovering the Real Issue:*
Upon deeper inspection, we identified a significant blockage at the BLUE injector hole, a common issue often overlooked. The blockage was caused by crystallization, a problem typical in vehicles of this make and model under certain conditions. We meticulously cleaned the injector hole and the surrounding area to ensure no residual blockage could affect the vehicle's functionality.
    *Live Data Assessment:*
To verify our repairs and adjustments, we took the Mercedes onto the motorway to monitor live data. This real-time data allows us to observe the vehicle's performance under normal operating conditions and ensure that all sensors and systems are functioning correctly without any unusual readings.
    *Uncovering Additional Issues:*
Upon returning to the garage, despite the vehicle's improved function, a subtle issue was still noticeable. The car did not roll as smoothly as expected, prompting further investigation. We discovered that the passenger wheel was slightly binding, which was likely contributing to the high fuel consumption reported by the customer.
    *Final Fixes and Road Test:*
After addressing the wheel binding issue, we conducted a final road test to confirm that all problems were resolved. The vehicle showed significant improvement in performance, and the fuel consumption rates returned to normal levels.
    *Conclusion:*
This video not only guides you through a step-by-step troubleshooting process for common issues with the Mercedes C-Class but also highlights the importance of comprehensive diagnostics and not relying solely on fault codes. By following along, you can gain insights into effective diagnostic strategies that go beyond the surface to discover less obvious issues.

Honestly one of the most honest mechanics and all round nicest people you could ever hope to meet! that is my car and I went to two garages and without giving the whole long story both failed to diagnose the real issue... second garage was a Mercedes specialist using xentry and told me a NOx sensor issue comes up and this would cost £560 so I asked if this would sort the low MPG and he said I couldn't say that. so I decided to do some research and came across Charlies videos and decided to take the car to him, just because he came across like a mechanic who prides himself on really getting the issues sorted. He actually didnt want to do a valuation based on being told there was a Nox issue in relation to the low MPG as he rightly believed the right path to cause this and there was no engine light which I totally understood. it was well over an hour to drive down to him, but well worth it as he managed to find the issue! couldn't be more happy to recommend making your way to him if you can and I know others have come from even further away. Genuine honest guy to be valued.

It sounds like you found a gem in Charlie! It's frustrating when you visit multiple mechanics and still can't get to the root of the problem with your car. But finding someone who's not just competent but also honest and dedicated to solving issues properly is invaluable. It's clear Charlie takes pride in his work and cares about his customers' satisfaction. Thanks for sharing your experience-it might just help others in a similar situation find the right mechanic for them.
      Thank You
