    I drove Fish Bowls for about 8 years before NJ Transit switched to Grumman Metros. You couldn't kill those buses. A lot of our GMC's went to Puerto Rico as shuttles. A lot of memories flooded back watching your video.

      @@joenichols7194 Oh, they were but they had no good ac and the shifters hung up between gears if you were sloppy shifting! If I wanted O.T. on a Grumman Metro, I would just take a corner or curve to the right at a slightly higher speed. Tank was close to empty and it would stall from fuel starvation.

    Excellent. I had a '68 Fishbowl with a 6V71 and 2 speed automatic. It would go up any short steep hill, but the long grades were slow. We used it as a motor home for about 10 years. Now we are converting a 2002 MCI. Enjoy your project!

    Oh how I wish I was still young and crazy. Reminds me of when I left home with an old Ford and bald tires with Boots in them. But I made it all the way to california 2780 miles and sold the car for three times what I paid for it. It was a 1949 Ford Convertible with a Custom Hollywood top.

      very interesting!

    I'm not going to post a Doogie Downer comment. I was young and foolish at a certain point in my life. Then I look back and realize what a fool I had been. I'm pretty sure a check stop by a trooper, had he checked the tires for date and condition you may have been fined BIG time. But all went well ( or so it seems ) and you did make it safe but please no more risky trips. Other than that what a great model to convert to a coach. She's not long on wind being a city bus so keep an eye on the weight you put into her. Unless of course you perform some upgrades. Happy trails !

    We live in North Georgia and go to Helen Georgia about once a year but I was born in 1969.. and as a little kid grew up in Staten Island New York which is part of New York city. And I remember clearly my mom taking me on buses just like this with the fish bowl opening in the back. I don't know if your bus had it but when we wanted to stop there was a wire we had to pull down on to make the bell ring. But anyway, great video I enjoy your content

    You didn’t have enough air in the system that’s why you are bouncing. 120 PSI is needed always. Good luck on your new toy. You need to find out what keeps buzzing also. Is it the air, low oil or low water?

    • @ResurrectedGarage
      @ResurrectedGarage  2 роки тому +2

      It's the air, it built up enough to just turn off the buzzer through most of the ride. Fixing all the air leaks is next on our to - do list now that it is at the shop.

  • @bryancooper2699
    @bryancooper2699 2 роки тому +3

    Your bags aren’t building up. Your leveling valves are stuck from sitting for so long. Check your air bags and leveling valves repaired. You can replace them your self. U S Coach in New Jersey has the parts. The man name is Luke Bonagura.

ImO it could make a nice Motorhome Conversion as it looks like it might be Geared for Highway ! The Engine sounds good when you get it started I was a Kid in New York when those buses went into service the biggest thing I remember about them being used for Mass Transportation was most of them were Automatic transmissions You need a Bungee Cord on that throttle for a temporary fix

    • @ResurrectedGarage
      @ResurrectedGarage  2 місяці тому

      That's really cool! Bungee cord would have definitely helped! Our original plan was to do a motorhome conversion, but we have since decided that it would be best to put the bus up for sale and let someone else give it a home. We really wanted to have a unique motorhome for all the events we go to and stay at but financially we just aren't at that point in our lives right now.

    You guys are very lucky to have made it home safe. You're also in way over your head with that thing. The Toro Flow diesel has a really bad reputation, finding parts for the Toro Flow is going to be a nightmare, and outfitting it with a Detroit is going to be next to impossible because the Detroit setup is a transverse setup with an angle V Drive Allison Transmission.. The Toro Flow is not transverse mounted. The bell housing is GMC only NOT SAE so transplanting another more reliable engine in that bus would be another challenge. Best thing to do is to cruise around locally with it because if you think you're going to cruise the United States with that thing, well you are going to leave it someplace on the side of the road and catch a Greyhound back home.

    • @KellanMeigh
      @KellanMeigh Рік тому +1

      The bellhousing is a very standard #2 pattern. The Toro-Flow only needs good, clean fuel and occasional head bolt re-torquing to live a longer life than a Green Leaker.

      @ResurrectedGarage I'd say.. having a toroflow is even more rare in my opinion. She's a unique old girl.

    Hello, you need new, windshield wipers
    I, recommend that you, go to the store
    And get, some new windshield, wipers for your new bus.

    • @ResurrectedGarage
      @ResurrectedGarage  2 роки тому +1

      They are on the to do list. No air was making it to the wipers in this video so they didnt work regardless of the condition of the blades

      Our business is Christian centered business, that's where our name comes from as well as the cross instead of a T in our name. Because of that, in all all of our videos I have added a very brief Bible verse. (We live in the US so we are fortunate to be able to have freedom of speech, religion, etc etc while many others don't - it's what makes each of us unique). This video is mainly an overview of how the guys got the bus home, not so much as a how to. We've stumbled across a guy called the "Bus Grease Monkey" who does more videos geared toward that. So those might be cool to check out if you haven't yet. 🙂

    You are SO LUCKY that Toro Flow runs, It is probably one of the worst Diesel engines every made. It is converted from the 478 gasoline V-6.

      Another Gm diesel like the 5.7 litre in the 1983 Buick LeSabre? That was made using a 5.7 l gasoline engine.

    wonder why u lot drive on the wrong side of the road, your steering wheel is on the wrong side too, and your diesel nozzle is green, here in the UK green is petrol, and black is diesel. oh and all your light switches are down for off in your house.

      Not all light switches are down, here in North America. Take staircase light switches as an example. If one light switch at the top of the stairs is down (off), the other light switch at the bottom will be up(off).

    Totally irresponsible what you guys did!!!!!! Driving on public roads with a vehicle that you do not know. It has air suspension judging by the bumpy ride, they seem not holding air. What about the brakes, brake lines and so on. And last but not least: the tires! They might blow up while driving at highway speeds. If a front tire goes, you won’t be able to keep a BUS on the road. I know, I’m a bus driver and I’ve been there! You brought yourself in serious danger, let alone other people on the road. Quite embarrassing watching this. Bye, Willem, Holland.

      Titled in 2018.. I've driven stuff farther that hadn't been road ready way longer.. u have ni idea what steers were like.. only tires that matter.. I've driven one my buses with throttle sticking like that,. Used a load bar to pull it back up.. damn karens

      Oh well, you seem to be proud huh…..ever thought about others on the road? And what you might have caused if……Obviously no use ranting at deaf people. Remember, YOU are responsible for anything that might go wrong. NO insurence will cover the costs either…

      Unplated uninsured bad tires no turn signals, unfit to drive. You are lucķy it wasn't a front tire that blew out. I drive busses and schedule 5 vehicle check exist for a reason, it saves lives.
