It would be awesome to see you go a couple steps farther on some of these old starts. Like getting a temporary cooling and fuel system and drive em around a little bit. Or even cleaning them out and seeing how well they clean up. Love your channel just wish your videos were a little longer! Keep up the good work bud!

That thing looked pretty nice on the interior - made for an easy start. This motor is known as the "big six" in the Studebaker world. First appeared in 1932 or 33 and was used in cars up through 1950 and in trucks up to 1960. While the truck itself might have seen it last days making shadows on the asphalt, that motor still has a lot of miles left in it. Thanks!
I'm not a mechanic. I know nothing about fixing engines or any of that but, I'm fascinated by people that can do this type of thing. If I had this knowledge I would be doing this too and resurrecting all of the old cars out there waiting to come alive once more. Nice work.
I have a 46 M-5 original survivor. Just took it for a spin with the grandson yesterday. I really like these old trucks. I just need the time to do some minor body repair and paint. Hate to ruin patina but would like to see her looking like new. Has a little surface (I hope) rust around bolt on fenders and pieces. Some bondo from some old repairs but minimal. Bed good and clean and great shape for the year. Flat head purrs like a kitten and still original 6v system.
Had a '47 Stude M5 years ago, 170cid flathead 6, bought it from a junk yard- took a lot of Marvel's Mystery Oil & patience but she did spring back to life.

It is... I was practically adopted by a Texan dude but I was already 20, i was going down a very bad path because in my home all it was, alcohol , parties and more alcohol , and too much of everything enough to rotten anyone's soul to the core so I ran away from it but I got damaged can't deny that , I was already married ,,,anyways, he had a bunch of land full of cars like those, we made a deal, I fixed them , he'd sell them, , I used to pay him 475 in rent, we did this for over 10 years, then one day his daughter showed up, she's as evil as they come, treated the old man badly to mortify me, because if I took a swing I was done, anyways ,he got very sick, I decided to move back to Pennsylvania, he gave me an envelope, I left, he died 2 mo later I was told by a old lady friend of ours, he died of a broken heart mostly she said, when I open the envelope, it was a check with the 10 years worth of rent, the old man saved my life, not because of the money, but because it gave me the will to live., I was able to get my mechanics lic, but left it as a hobby...

I love this channel! This good old truck fired up almost instantly after you freed up the pistons and valves! She runs smoothly, like a champion! I just love the simple, robust design of old engines like this (and old machines of any type). We should be doing a lot more manufacturing like this - good, simple, robust machines that'll last for decades. The people in the factories would love it, taking pride and satisfaction from making real quality machinery. The customers would love it too, I'm sure.
i learned to cut my teeth on flat head sixes. Studebaker, Plymouth, Dodge. and a couple Packard straight 8’s .. we would hook a out board gas tank to the fuel pump .. what fun bringing them back to life . thank you for taking us along .. good job man 👍🏼
For a minute, I thought you'd found my half-ton high-school hot rod! In 72, my dad and I stuffed a 283/Powerglide combo into it, which we plucked from my uncle's crashed 59 Impala. We left the flat-head/4spd sitting under a sycamore tree, it was still there in the late 90's. Good times!

What a lucky break. I don't think that engine was stuck and the starter eve worked too. Either way you did it, nice work. I have a 1990 Dodge 2 wheel drive pickup with a NP 435 that got stuck in two gears. The shifter comes out of the top and didn't feel right, but the real telltale was whenever I let up on the clutch pedal the engine just stopped. In my case, I cut the floor open and took the top off, repositioned the gears and forks and it was fixed. I was changing seats inside the cab and I believe I bumped the shifter, but I often wondered how it could have gotten stuck in two gears. Any Ideas? ben/ michigan
It can happen if your shift linkage is not properly adjusted - might be at the Neutral cross-over while still partly in a gear, allowing another gear to be selected at the same time.
Excellent job. That engine runs very well, even with the stuck cooling fan and the slipping V belt in the beginning. Keep up the great video's. Merry Christmas.
Gotta love those old flathead inlines. At very least the engine is worth saving on this back to nature special. By the way, am I seeing things or did you forget to install a head bolt?
With how good condition the engine was in I was almost expecting you to the the car for a spin by the end of the video... maybe if not the damn clutch :D

They’re are many different reasons I like this channel,it’s good to see these old vehicles run again. The part that gives me a laugh is all the channels involving revival of old abandoned cars the first thing they say is the carb is bad and we need to rebuild it,this channel he sucks a rats nest out of a sixty year old carb and gets her running! Great channel,keep up the great work.

They,re laying out there pickled in the sun pretty much beaten up and nothing as good as this one,"as new" engine. Smooth and so quiet.
I have two good cabs and dog houses and multitudes of parts if you need anything. And more federal truck s and parts than anyone else on the planet 🌍. Really i have shitloads. My grandmother collected all he could find for decades and I still have em all

Saw one of these painted all white, frame painted black, and someone put a 4 wheel drive underneath it. Man, did it look really great!
