This is great for procrastination issues . I sometimes need to tell myself to get up and finish the job. I love that timer finley 😂😂😂 feels so good when you plant out doesnt it! Plots coming along now Kerry. 😊 Danny 🌱
Love the Bed, Bed! I'm glad you just got the plants in weather aside. I think they can often handle a bit of cold more easily than tiny cells for too long. You're cold and rainy.......I'm stupid hot and rain keeps passing us by.
It's great isn't it lol. I'm joining @myrustygarden's bedframe gang! Yes, I'd like to believe that Robin - better the cold than the tiny cell. We'll have some of your warmth and you can have some of our rain! (The garleek and badger flame are poking up!)
Great update Kerry, always great to get some plants potted on or planted out, you certainly made the most of your time squeezing in jobs. Love the bed frame bed, when I used cot sides in the past to grow my squashes up, the slats were too wide for the little tendrils to cling to so it may be worth draping some netting over the slats so they have smaller grids to cling too. Your tomatoes in buckets look great, I have seen some gardeners use comfrey leaves on top of the compost surface as a mulch but also when it breaks down it feeds the plants too. Your arches look great, it's all coming together, lovely job 😊
Ha Debbie - I love that you think I would own a soldering iron 🤣 Thank you for the tip - maybe Mark has one?! I only just got a drill last year and Liam is always telling me off for my cheap screwdrivers. I should really do a DIY course or something - I have no skills or talent for it. Thank you Debbie for watching and taking the time to comment 💕💜🌱
Lots of progress, the sweetcorn bed looks great, I interplanted mine with squash last year and when it comes to harvesting it’s great finding surprises amongst the tall sweetcorn
Yes, you did motivate me! I want to achieve at least half of the long to-do list today, some indoor and some outdoor jobs, as we have just got a severe weather warning from 11am onwards. Your plot is really taking shape now. Great video.
How did you get on?? I don't know where you are but the weather was awful here yesterday - rain, storms, hail!!! - but there were pockets of sunshine and I got some things done.
@@dogontheplot I am in southern Scotland and rain totally stopped play outside. Inside tasks 65% achieved in the time allowed. Every time I wanted to stop, I thought of you slogging away.
Well done. I just did a power hour down the garden. May I suggest when drilling pots or buckets you stand on the rim on either side and have both hands to control the drill. I turned my front lawn into a no dig ornamental edible complex.
Great video as always, definitely helps to get me motivated, trouble is it’s bedtime now! So I will make a list in the order I have to do things in and try to stick to it! for tomorrow. I have so much to put out, including yellow looking sweetcorn, but no space! My tomatoes are looking terrible, a lot worse than the ones you have just done, so was planning to pot them on first for a bit extra time! But can’t find any space to do that…..help! It doesn’t matter how long the days are there still isn’t enough time . This is the worse year I’ve known for strange weather, it’s been cold at night and grey days with very cold winds, then the sun comes out and it’s scorching! The poor plants have to put up with that which stresses them making them more vulnerable to slug damage! You work so hard, such an inspiration, thanks.
Haha - well I don't know where you are Marilyn but the weather tomorrow (now today) looks better than yesterday's here, so hopefully it will be the same for you. Good luck with your list. I had THE WORST tomatoes last year - they looked dead! - but they were fine: ua-cam.com/video/lGY4fiJqhbg/v-deo.htmlsi=LHLn6ZVaSaUcAEwi No, never enough time - but I'm glad I've inspired you. The weather will pick up - it has to, right??!!! 🤣
@@dogontheplot thanks for replying. I’m in Devon, so praying for no rain until tonight! I’ve only joined your brilliant channel this winter, so haven’t seen your tomatoes last year. But I will pot mine up into a bit bigger pot to start with and see what happens! Thanks.
That timer might be nice to have. I need to take frequent breaks and checking the time often just wastes even more time. If I had a timer I could just stop and rest when needed, and keep plugging away more until the timer goes off.
I love them - I've had a few over the years to use at work with the students (or sometimes on myself when marking!) - but now they're getting a new lease of life as garden job timers lol
I would have thought the same, but there are no flowers on the plants yet... let me google... "Tomato plants have trichomes that appear as tiny hair-like structures and very small vesicles on the stem. "Tomato skin" may occur when the essential oils from the trichomes contact the skin, initially presenting as yellow discoloration that masks the normal skin color" www.cureus.com/articles/193508-tomato-plant-associated-xanthoderma-case-report-and-review-of-exogenous-causes-of-yellow-skin#!/ - well, there you go! Who knew.
Hi Kerry with miccorizal funny (all spelt wrong sorry ) To work this must be sprinkled on the roots direct this helps the roots spread out and find nutrients if its put in the soil it does nothing really. Hope this helps it's not cheap stuff and I'd hate you to waste it. We'll done on your power hour keep up with the great work and Dorey is just so cute
Sweet corn is a heavy feeder. When it turns yellow like that it is past time to get it in the ground. Be sure to feed it good after planting it out. Love the bed bed. Turn your drill to it's high setting when drilling soft materials like plastic and wood. Enjoyed the vid. Keep them coming.
Good tip - I don't think they got the seaweed powder in the hole so will give them a liquid feed next time I'm down. That's fresh compost so hopefully they'll enjoy the goodness in that. I thought it was on high, but I (clearly) have little understanding of drilling! Thank you for the tips. Glad you enjoyed Bob - I'll try! 😊💕
Hello Kerry, Wow hour of power, you are a go getter for sure. That is the best method to employ when there is too much to do or you are overwhelmed. I think when we just focus on doing and stop thinking we get very productive. Good job! Yes the corn looks good the yellowing is ready for a feed and sunshine from being planted out. I do love to hear you thinking out loud it is a real good way to process the things to do and get them prioritized. When I listen to folks it triggers me to remember something I wanted to do but maybe forgot or pick up a shortcut or two. Much of my garden is on per with yours many plants in similar size and state. You have an infectious smile and are quite inspirational in your approach to gardening which makes a person want to go get busy. Have a great week Cya next thyme, Steven
Aw thank you for your kind words, as always Steven. Yes, I get that too - we probably all know all this stuff but there's A LOT to remember and sometimes seeing someone else mention something is a good reminder that oh yes, that's how that is done. Hoping the corn will perk up. It definitely looks better than it did last year and I got a good crop then. In fact, for all my moaning 🤣 almost all my crops look better than they did last year and are going out earlier than I managed last year too. I think if the bloomin' sun can come out for a bit it might actually be a good year!
Good Morning Kerry..lovely video...especially like your afterthoughts (in print) 🤔😂 how we all have our best ideas after the fact!!! Had an amazing storm last evening...straight line winds..literally tore the pumpkins from the ground...loosened All the squash plants...spent the rest of the evening putting the garden back together. Actually tore my echinacea from the ground a flung them across the yard...have NEVER seen anything like this before...hoping all will be o.k...have fun in your plot and home garden...Take care 🌞🐝🐞🌻🌱🌼
Oh wow!!! We had high winds thursday (though nothing like you!) and it snapped one of the baby boo 😥 Sounds like you had a big clean up job! Hope you salvaged as much as you could.
I was thinking about your power hour when I was weeding... hate it so much lol 😮 sick of the weeds I keep saying soon the massive plants will put complete the weeds..... any day now...
You may have mentioned it, but how long have you been gardening? I’m constanstly picking up on things you do that is reminding me to stress less about doing gardening «perfect». I’m a beginner and garden because I love watching things grow and learn new things. I’m trying to sort through all the advice out there and find what works for me and my garden. But perfectionism and fear of killing off my plants (horrible track record with indoor plants), is overwhelming at times. Thanks for being a level-headed example 💕🍓🍅🍏🌷
This is my third growing season - the first year was just in the garden with a couple of raised beds and the pumpkin patch in the front garden, and now this is a my second season with the allotment. Learning LOADS all the time and trying to share what I'm learning and my limited experience without a claim to expertise. I'm glad I'm helping although I'm not sure how level-headed I am 🤣🤣 - I think this year has been quite a lesson in taking on too much... but yes, I gave up on perfectionism in all aspects of life quite a while ago, and am all the happier for it!
The front garden really was a jungle 😀 Loved Bingley!😍 I probably would prefer something more subtle than getting a heart attack when it goes off 😂 So funny how you're being sarcastic at yourself through the texts on screen 😂🤭😂 and chuckled a bit when you were wondering about the last tray of tomatoes for the allotment: " they are going outside....." like they had a choice or you had another option 😂😂 as there's no glass in the greenhouse yet and home greenhouse is jam packed already 😅 🥰🤗💚🌿
If you think that's a jungle wait until we get to the back of the garden makeover... at some point... 👀😬 Haha - I know - do I think a polytunnel is magically going to appear? Although I looked up those Midnight Roma tomatoes and they are best grown undercover because they are late fruiting and so susceptible to late blight - grr. Also Maiju, I will have you know that there are now SIX panes of glass in that greenhouse - a whole SIX!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Drilling plastic containers works better if there are two, one inside the other. The drill should go through both fairly easily. Some drill holes about an inch, 2.5 cms above the bottom on the sides. That should keep some water in the bottom.
Oh, I so enjoy watching you work! Should I rather be outside working on my garden? Yes. But in all fairness (excuse incoming), I pause your video, make notes of good tips, and google random thing I start wondering about. So I think of the hour and half I spend to get through your video as an educational, very enjoyable start to my weekend. Your plot and garden looks awesome, can’t wait to it all settling in and growing in the next months!

Aw thank you Sarah and I'm sorry to hear the slugs have eaten everything. They've been particularly fond of my peas and all those million bells I bought - I can't tell you home much I spent on those plugs and now they're sorry poor skeletal things 😭 Yes roll on some good weather!!!!!

So much progress! You've definitely motivated me to sort my plants before I go on holiday tomorrow for a week 🙈
Yay - go for it! Have a lovely holiday and hpoefully your plants will all be twice the size when you get back!

Just back from cold winter camping 3c, snow yes snow, hail and loads of rain. Will get out in the garden tomorrow to check damage 🤦♀️, Ali 🥶🌧️🇨🇦
