Hey everyone, be sure to check out the No Straight Roads soundtrack, its a phenomenal game and has some incredible groovy tunes you should check out! (Not sponsored) ua-cam.com/video/3jziXjjJcHA/v-deo.html&ab_channel=BossBattleRecords This video was supposed to release 2 days ago but I ran into some problems with my internal drives, apologies for the delay, but I hope you enjoy the video! Let me know your thoughts about Octavia, do you think she is fun to play? Are you planning on getting her now? The next video will be Wisp, will be out end of this week, as always thank you so much for your support, means a lot
Dj Subatomic Supernova never fails to make me vibe, and I listen to the ost so much I can recognize all the songs and also sing parts of DK West, great game
i see how you play the game, i'm gonna say that people like you, who meta the SHIT out of everything ruin the game. been playin warframe on and off almost since it released, it's always been run and gun, but a game is what you make of it. you probably don't understand, and that's ok. i play solo to avoid people like you.
Awesome video, just want to tell you though... Amp does not max out at 200%, while you are describing its team usage its at 350%. I have personally gotten that to almost 600%.
I think the main reason why she is not that popular is bc she is just not fun to use and the reason DE doesn't nerf or buff her is exactly bc of that, if DE saw a spike of people doing endless missions with her I'm pretty sure they would nerf her performance to at least 50% not to balance but to keep people from using her until they feel like reworking her
This. I think the review barks up the wrong tree. People like cheese. If she just were too easy, she would absolutely dominate the play statistics. You can't take the invisibility away, either, because Octavia is squishy. I haven't been playing for such a long time, but I've revived my fair share of Octavia's. She's just really tedious to play with all the stuff you have to keep track of, and pressing buttons non-stop isn't everyone's cup of tea, either.
I haven't used her because you have to invest platinum 50 to like 200 or 300 I don't know for her metronome thingy, but personally I think she's actually really cool. Her design is miiiiiiiiid though I will admit
Using her for absolute full META potential must be really boring, but I didn’t get her for that. I farmed Octavia for her music and I simply cannot get bored of blasting it with my friends and dancing through missions.
I know her third's annoying to myself, plus the general downside of either having a proper tune that covers up the soundtrack or literally every damn beat going off at once which is the 'meta' option and even worse to soundtrack enjoyment.
Been playing ONLY Octavia since release and never went back to any other frame (except Saryn for focus farming). Doing literally anything with this frame. Love it.
First, great title! Will definitely use that, second Nidus and Harrow will be together as those frames released around a similar time as well sharing their designs (ability synergy stuffs being similar)
@@sp4rklsz you never bothered to read Harrow’s flavour text? “Dauntless and devout, the dark priest Harrow bestows upon his coven three virtues: salvation through sacrifice, redemption through vengeance, and ascension through defiance.”
It is hella odd how a warframe based around music goes invisible, instead of like, becoming the center of the enemies focus like some sorta musical tank frame. Playing Octavia should feel like performing a concert of death, but instead it feels like your playing the worlds laziest DJ hiding behind the same track the whole mission .w.
Octavia was my starting Warframe, as in she was the one who I received from my friend for starting Warframe. Oddly enough, her 'problems' stated here were actually the reasons I enjoy her the most. She is such a jack of all trades frame that I can bring her where ever and enjoy the content without concerning "what do I need to chance to keep myself relevant" through the session. So, even when her prime version came out, I just couldn't let go of the original Octavia I had since day 1 boasting a 53% use rate on my account even on... MR24 ish. I guess people will consider her "no risk" aspect to be boring as hell, but I guess it's thanks to that "no risk" factor that I can appreciate how she looks and plays out. It's genuinely interesting to say that it's exactly her current state that I was able to enjoy Warframe as any other frame just fell boring for me I genuinely agree on her 1 and 2 needing to be combined, but I genuinely want her to stay like this as she allowed me to enjoy Warframe.
The video is mostly hate bc Octavia outplays their "play style" Octavia is not as easy as they think, you really need time to master her unlike what people think, I still use her for solo missions! not boring at all
@@slayer7003 bro what? Is it that hard to press three buttons and then just pay attention to keep reseting the invis? You cant really be saying that octavia couldnt be played by a kid
@@TOBY-jy7bz What i always find weird with this argument is: tell me a warframe that isn't like that. - Equinox: You activate your 3 and 4 and pop it every now, maybe use your 2 or subsume it for armor strip - Baruuk: press 3 and 1 until meter full then go for 4 and just press your abilities now and then. - Harrow: always have 2 & 3 active, use 4 when neccessary and spam 1. When you break any warframe down to its basic its always: press 3 / 4 buttons then watch out for one stat.
I still haven't really figured out how inspiration is even useful though. You only get 30 energy and most of octavias abilities cost more than 30 to cast so you're still effectively resulting in a net loss of energy every time you cast an ability
Metronome could have an indicator similar to Gauss, placed somewhere on the bottom left of the screen (and so other players can see it as well) . In that way, the buffs and timing of them can be more easily read.
A note about Mallet and Resonator, there are reasons to not combine them. the damage output is much smaller. If you just put down the Mallet, enemies will take full damage. If you just put down the Resonator, enemies will stop attacking
Rollerball is pretty worthless and is the easiest choice ever to be replaced by a subsume in all of the game honestly. It provides basically nothing and so many other options "rest/rage is most notable" make her even more insane.
octavia also *obviously* needs an ability to 'switch sets' as well because it can become insanely annoying if you're hearing the same 4 tacts for 1:30 hours (so you can switch up the music, maybe at least let cycle either between 4 chosen tracks or make a smart implementation that you can actually scroll through *all* tracks you've made
that would make great sense in terms of debuffing eworking her - coupling each melody with only existing buff so you have to switch melody to adapt to situation resulting in something how equinox was intended to be played. To make it spicy (but hard to develop) buffs can be auto recognized by % of high-low notes, tempo or other parameters. So mortal combat melody gives huge melee bonus, doom ost - multishot, calming music - inviz, nfs osts from y2k - parkour boost
I bought octavia when i first got the game because i loved the idea of a music frame, best purchase i ever made... it carried me through the game for so long. I find it fun because of the music that plays, it's chill. You can vibe to the music you made while her mallet kills everyone.
As someone who has recently returned to Warframe after barely playing it on the Xbox, it’s interesting to hear about what the various Warframes in the game are like.
Octavia's seldom used not because she's too cheesy. People like cheese, even if it's boring. Look at Wukong before the tweaks. She's seldom used because she's too finnicky to play. Playing her mostly involves babysitting your ability timers, crouching timer, and energy almost constantly. If she was less of a hassle to play she would see a massive popularity spike.
As an octavia main, I can't agree more. Even with a perfected build, I feel like i'm playing a really terrible dance dance revolution game rather than a horde shooter. After a while of playing her she really does become a boring frame to play
As an Octavia main i can say your build is not really that good, you can get 300 duration with some range and 200 strength easily, but at the cost of having 45 efficiency, but pair her with arcane energize and zenurik and with her passive your energy problems are gone. I can do survival till lvl cap whilst not dropping below 300 energy out of 700 easily since she instakills everything and i have energy orbs everywhere
@@sprinngam2536 lmao thats the issue for me i suck at babysitting my energy so mid way through a wave im like ah shite...im out and the enemies that are like lvl 35 or higher start swarming but dont drop any energy lmao
It'd be cool if playing the mandachord could have some kind of effect, maybe strumming it could send out different effects based on what you play, with your roller ball amplifying the range and sticking near allies. That way you can still have her buffs but require a more active playstyle instead of just "Press all your abilities and spam crouch"
mandachord as exalted weapon. just make it play like hunting horn (mhrise edition where you don't have to read sheet music), bind notes to the unique melee inputs (standing attack, running attack, standing block attack, running block attack, slide attack, etc.) and there. done. just make them activate different things, or whatever.
Either heavy weapons (see Mayday, NSR) or hammer moveset (Hunting horn), and then add a couple of animations for playing the instrument. Edit: the Nevan from DMC3 already exists, so they could also just make that style of weapon that shoots out energy waves like baruuk's 4th. Just have the mocap actor do sick guitar riffs and that oughta work. The slide attack is practically BEGGING to be a guitar knee slide.
As an Octavia main, I think she seems boring because she has no "feel good" button. All of her skills are kind of fire and forget, and while they have a massive impact in the game, they don't look like they have the weight they actually do. Other Warframes give you instant feedback of what your "feel good" skills are doing, but Octavia just builds up DPS over time, and you only notice it's doing something because enemies suddenly drop dead. IMO, she should be reworked to make you play around her Metronome, and maybe make her Amp's decibel mechanic stand out way more. If Mallet and Resonator were to be merged, she could have space for a skill designed to do some noise (Exalted Shawzin, anyone?)
As an Octavia main, it still confused me as to why the roller and mallet are not the same skill, they could've just combine the two and make the roller stationary because the thing kinda suck especially when it decided to get out of the range of Octavia's 4th ability and give Octavia an ability to ride the roller which she will gain an increase of speed which makes the roller more faster but not too fast that it'll yeet you out of the map and makes her invincible for the roller will absorb all dmg but the catch is that she can't use any weapon unless she dismount.....her mallet could also absorb friendly damage, it would also damage the surrounding enemy...
because the roller is a charm... it makes it so the enemies don't target you and go after it, also what would be the point of making it stationary and rideable? you already go fast enough
The roller can get you killed, as Octavia is squishy. Some people who don't like the risk imposed by getting into the line of fire from enemies to roller opt to just use the mallet.
Octavia's also in the subset of frames where playing to the gimmick as presented, makes the Warframe worse. In her case, trying to actually make anything resembling proper music will make the buffs either more inconsistent, or micromangaging to the point where it will actually become difficult to play her. So those who try and engage with the unique gimmick will end up unimpressed or annoyed with her, and everyone else is basiclaly ignoring the selling concept of the frame and just muting the mandachord and stacking notes on every beat.
How do you feel about the foundry timegating? Do you think it's something that's ultimately good and necessary for the game's "longevity" and profit despite there being many other things in game that players spend their plat on or buy plat for. Or is it unnecessary time waster that significantly dwindles the willingness to keep playing for a good number of non-die hard, non-veteran players?
Never really thought she was boring, she was my go-to when I'm just trying to chill in discord with some friends and talk. Octavia, Mesa, Saryn, Volt and Nidus we're my favorite frames when I used to play ~6 years ago. It's actually amazing that they're still relevant all these years later. I found that they dominated in the specific cases they were designed for. UA-cam has been recommending me warframe videos a lot lately, I'm really tempted to hop back on and finally try Gauss, cause he was released just after I stopped playing. Edit: After about a week of getting back into warframe, I'm very satisfied with all the new content I can look forward to. Going to take it slow this time instead of rushing to endgame like I did years ago lmao.
@@CandysChannel really great actually! I've played through devuri and deimos and was genuinely surprised by 1) how much better the game looks and 2) all the new systems in place. I'm holding back the temptation to finish all the story quests just to catch up on all the new systems (argon shards, steel path, galvanised mods, kuva weapons etc.) Mostly spending time with farming primes of frames I've completely missed while away. Going through them in release order so I'm ready for rotations 🤣 Currently completed Revenant, Khora, Baruuk- and now farming for Hildryn Prime.
@@UpstageBeast That’s great! I just started on February 20 on my iPad Pro so I’m still very much newbie. I am only MR 5 now. I am building Hildryn Prime right now! I have never played her at all, so I’m excited!
Imagine if Octavia played like a hunting horn. Activate metronome input button commands and cast the ability connected to that specific command. A more active playstyle which has you a little vulnerable at the start while recasting. At the cost of extending the buff durations for about 30 or so more seconds.
As a hunting horn and Octavia main, this is the best suggestion I’ve ever seen for a rework, and a connection I’ve never made myself. Bard classes have been a staple of RPGs since literally the very first one. I’d love to see her reworked to be a more engaging frame, as I enjoy playing her purely for thematic reasons
If Octavia ever got a rework it'd be cool to replace her 4th ability with an exalted DJ set utilizing the Mandachord and it's just a rhythm game using your set song that can pump out damage in the form of buffs or burst AOE soundwaves. Watching your feet to match your beat is not only annoying but just visual clutter, getting rid of the beatwaves and just replacing it with a UI add-on would be better and would tie into her exalted DJ set. Also, possible Nora Night inspired deluxe skin/operator set bundle with a rework like this.
What if her 1,2 and 3 were tied to different notes. Different note combinations offer different buffs or "spells" or something. Then her 4 could still be an amp, but it boosts the power to her buffs. This would keep the musical bard theme while also making her more engaging. Just food for thought.
I literally started Warframe a few days ago and got Octavia as part of Twitch Prime. Still trying to figure out the metronome thing, but max her out early and she's definitely OP for beginners like me.
If you have the Helmith on your ship, remove her second skill (resonator) for equinox's day/night, buff/defuff, it raises the damage the enemy you cast it on by %100 during the day part of the buff. Your 1st skill has aggro so if there's no one around the enemy to attack they will attack your 1st skill and cause your damage to soar through the roof, you don't need your second skill to aggro enemies if you combo your invisibility with your 1st and 4th skill and your replaced 2nd skill for tougher enemies. another tip is to find a song with a fast beat I use Dooms E1M1 as my song so your 3rd skill has a quick beat and all you need to do is spam crouch quickly to go invisible.
A great way to make her a bit more active is her 2 augment. Using her Resonance as a targetted AoE to relocate where it's needed the most does a lot to make her a lot less "boring" even if I never really thoight of her that way. Since Mallet works on LOS, having to reposition your Resonance to work around obstacles keeps you aware of what's going on with the field, and you can always disable the augment as needed to let the ball free roam. Again, I never really thought of Octavia as boring, just less ability-active than other Frames, needing her to put more into her gunwork to stay active while having to maintain her uptime. Her biggest "issue" is that the optimal way to play her js to have her Mandachord have every slot filled, which makes for awful, annoying music. But the gulf between "optimal' and "casual" isn't that significant, so I just made "Bloody Tears" and roll with that.
No Big Band from Skullgirls mention in the beginning? I think he's also a fun musical design that implements his whole self as being an instrument, has a musical aspect that can be played ingame for fun, and has so many tools that make him very fun, engaging, and quite rewarding.
It would be cool to get an hud indicator on screen and then whenever you activate abilities in a vague rythm, you get some kind of boost. To prevent camping they could do something simar to volt e.g: Harmony which gives you the harmony status, then gets reset if you stay still for more than 10 seconds. If you have no harmony status, your abilities are weaker.
Controversial opinion, mesa is an octavia that you just have to look at enemies with. I say look because aim is far too generous. Theyre both roll your face on the keyboard frames
I recently started to main Octavia after entering the steel path and starting the zariman missions, higher level (for me at least) enemy content and I needed a frame that could either scale, or work well with what mods I had available at the time. I find her fun to use personally but I run her with a mix of range, duration and strength mods with nothing to buff health, shield or armour, giving me a clear weakness in game and something to play around, think level 130 toxic ancients because they one bang me no question about it. I've been playing Warframe since 2013 across PC and Xbox (before crossplay) and have always only had the one friend to play it with, between us we like to make sure we can both bring something to the table with our frames, for me its usually unparalleled violence, hacking, speed, stealth etc, he offers a good supportive role bringing exceptionally strong melee, energy, ammo, health, shields in the form of frost, or nekros desecrate for survival, so i find octavia a perfect fit as a jack of all trades for people like us who don't have a full squad to rely on. Also her 1 & 2 I think are good as they are, the resonator makes a great distraction when trying to defend an objective or other player, the mallet being static is also a fantastic bottle neck.
A nice change to Octavia would be to get rid of her 3 and replace it with a toggleable ability where she basically uses the mandachord like a keyboard, but with full movement and her other abilities are uncastable. You can press 1, 2, and 4 to play notes and you will get different effects based on the note combos you play, including everything her 3 could do and give them to nearby teammates and herself. Also playing will enhance the other abilities. In addition, each note played will deal damage to nearby enemies, maybe with some extra stuff too like different elements based on combos but wouldn't wanna enroach on Lavos' territory. Basically its just kinda like Hunting Horn from monster hunter, do music combos to achieve effects. Octavia is still set and forget, but you can have fun with her by playing the mandachord to pull up strong support effects and boost her mallet, so now she's fun without drastically changing the way her entire kit works.
Any time someone brings up "Who's the best frame?" People always say "There is no best frame" which just isn't true. There isn't a single thing Octavia can't do well. She's beyond easy to play, nothing she can't kill. Just because most players don't find her "fun" doesn't mean that she isn't clearly the strongest frame in the game.
2 mentions that doesn't matter tha much: I think bossfights she wont be particularly great, but then again skill dmg topically don't affect them. But I suppose she is actually bad at Archon fights, as they will simply teleport AND nullify u if u stay invisible for too long, I didnt try against all archons but at least Amar do that, I was playing Revenant, I was visible, but because there was a Octavia doing her invi stuff I got teleported and almost killed because of nullification, I also tried Ivara prior to that and I also kept being teleported and nullified... but that's DE sucking on designing good hard fights, cause they just always find a way to squeeze in some nullification, the dumbest shit to add in most scenarios they have added (given how fucking punishing that is to the vast majority of frames)
@CEBEP-BOCTOK why bother trying do such a thing with her when I can do with Nezha or Revenant that will tank the fight considerably easier already? And won't be nullified due to always being an available target to the archons
i think it would be more engaging if mandacord was an exalted weapon(melee i guess) that functions like hunting horn from monster hunter, so different inputs (such as block E, E, Sliding E) would make specific sounds that could form a combo and upon activation would either buff or a different effect
One alternative idea for an octavia rework I'd be tempted to note is... add a bit to the "Weapons Platform" style, while taking some cues from rhythm shooters like BPM (Bullets Per Minute). Have it that things like her attack speed/fire-rate and reload speed can affect her music or what exactly you can put into her songs, and she could get passive-ish abilities that so long as she's keeping on whatever beat she set for herself she gets bonuses.
When Octavia Prime was released, I was very worried she would be nerfed. I mean, look what happens to useful, popular things in Warframe: Mesa/Mag, Trinity, Sicarus, Catchmoon, Wukong, AoE. And I don't want one of my favorite frames be taken away from me...
The only flaw of Octavia is mallet deal blast damage making her quite painful in Grineer mission that ferrite armor resist blast damage. Hope she will have augment like works Reactive Storm to change mallet damage type.
Except even that doesn’t really effect her, as mallet scales it’s damage off the damage the enemy deals meaning it just completely ignores that negative after a few seconds of them firing on it
I was in a sort of small clan back when i used to play, lets say 10 active players or so, i was the octavia main, everyone would make fun or joke about it but i'd still take her everywhere. i loved octavia
i feel the real reason no one plays her is because you have to constantly crouch and do things on a rhythm, and i have never done anything on rhythm for octavia because i find it restrictive and annoying, she is annoying to play
My favourite invis frame, can stay invisible for hours pretty effortlessly if you play her on the move and refresh the invis with a couple of quick slide attacks, but keeping an eye on her timers gets old quick unfortunately, not much of an issue for many regular mission types though. She seems one of the more misunderstood, in regards to abilities, warframes out there.
Whenever I have an Octavia join my team, I just know the left-hand side of my HP bar is soon going to be spammed with so many icons, it’ll quickly form a second row.
roller and mallet being togther seems good on paper but has a few issues the biggest being mallet is hurt by roller a lot and making it a tap or hold leads to fumbling nad ability bloat a great reason why I love octavia is her simplicity set and forget isn't inhernatly bad and neither is simplicity making the madacord an active would make her overly complicated or feel like you need to set up for your setup madacord -> amp-> mallet octavia is strong and if more people play her I agree that she would need a nerf if she was being abused. I think a rework would need to keep her core gamefeel of simplicity and set to forget. I think making using her ability tied to a minigame might be a good idea. something like using them on a certain timing or in a certain order maybe both making it so you have to cycle more often to get the full use of her kit as rn I would say energy is her biggest limit even with passive which is why most people put on nourish. Making it so if ability are timed properly with a mini game like a rythme game hafled energy cost but if you messed it up doubled cost, and making ability being used in a certain order giving like 1.5x ability strength or .8x if used out of order nothing super harsh but something to encorge good play (also these could be switched it doesn't matter which or what buff ). going even further a streak or style system which made the minigame harder the better you did making the mini game harder but giving better and better rewards could make her a high skillcap frame. especially if the style meter is combined with how well her ability are doing (how much do you miss your crouches, how much of mallets uptime is wasted with no one or few enemies shooting it, how often is amp buffing teammates or other ability, roller does matter and is dog shit if their is a rework this ability should be completely changed) High skill octavia could be constantly repotstioning buffing teammates with amp while mallet takes in fire and as they go to the heart of action and use their ability well they get stronger and the ability get cheaper so they can continue (similar to how good saryns can keep toxin # high and never let it die) low skill is still possible, but a little worse, with set to forget and as they uses their skills poorly their ability get worse and they use them less frequently removing the set forget and do nothing (which is why set to forget and invis is bad it leads to near afk to full on afk) I think nerfs esp in warframe are almost never the answer this is a community which is built around optimization and min maxing if we can raise the skill cealing a lot lower the skill floor a little it would make her more dynamic and still remove her negatives. if you think this playstyle couldn't work for octavia and or does fit her current kit see how she is played in void cascade with consent repostioning having to understand map control and having to understand how to get the most out of mallet and amp to buff the team buff the mallet and not waste upkeep. this is when she the most fun and going more into that seems like the right move to me. (or DE could be lazy give a buff to ability strength and range and make them decay so you cant just set and forget but this would not be fun at all and ruin her for me and I think most players while being more "balanced")
I've been an Octavia main since her release, and I'm MR28 now and still use her very often. I mean I try to use all of my frames a decent amount but she's definitely one of my more popular picks. Anyway I don't think you covered one of the most egregious parts of her kit: the Amp is WAY too easy to get to max effect. Like you shoot one bullet and that thing goes to max percentage. I don't think I've ever seen an Amp in any lobby not constantly at max effectiveness. Otherwise you kind of nailed my main issues with Octavia (even though I use her so much). Her 1 and 2 need the Vauban treatment, where tap cast is the mallet and hold cast is the roller. I'm glad you had the exact same thought as me. The mallet should scale less, but also should receive damage from teammates. That way it's a more active part of her kit rather than be set and forget. Much like Zephyr's tornadoes. Another egregious part of the kit is that the mandachord actually doesn't matter. Octavia players always just set the melody to four notes per beat so it's easier to spam. And the other two straight up don't matter - if you have less notes, they deal more damage per note, so you always get the same damage. So instead it should work like this: the mallet has its beats and shooting the mallet on the beat will increase its damage. So now you, as the Octavia player, have to build your Mandachord around your weapons. Using the Opticor? Use more drawn out beats. Using a full auto rifle? Spam the beats. Shooting the mallet off-beat doesn't do anything. The roller could also have some sort of dis/advantage for its beats. For example, you said you wanted to shoehorn in some DR or tankiness. So maybe something like slower beats on the roller are more effective at charming enemies, but if you're shot on the beat of the roller, the damage is instead transferred to the roller (or mallet if attached). That way, a faster beat makes it more likely you'll be shot on a beat, while a slower beat will be more effective at charming. The third ability is a great support ability and should stay that way, but it should have something a little more interesting to the kit. Instead of crouching and jumping being a speed boost and invisibility, they could affect the rest of the kit. For example, crouching could slow down the entire melody of the song, making the roller more effective at charming and making it easier to line up BFG Opticor shots on the mallet. And jumping could speed up the BPM, making the roller more effective at tanking and the mallet more effective at taking high fire rate shots from allies/enemies. Shooting and meleeing on beat of the third ability should remain as multishot and melee buff. Her fourth ability should have a far greater damage buffs but should also be far harder to achieve. All four teammates constantly shooting should only get around 50% of the buffs, with the rest of Octavia's song being required for the rest of the buff. You could also have some interesting synergies with other abilities, such as some from a certain sound-oriented Warframe. I'd love to see Octavia get a little bit more interesting but honestly there are other frames that need the rework more.
she was my fave frame when she came out to make music with, she was so good and the best stealth frame every made. ran all survivals and some too 9 hour runs. she easy mode the fra,e/
Her Mallet, Roller, and Metronome can all be combined into 1 skill with 3 stages. By that I mean, since all skills have 3 "stages" as we level up frames, at max level the skill would simply deploy all 3 aspects of the skills together. I never quite understood why her 1, 2, & 3 were separate. Her ult can stay I guess and this creates room for two more skills, one possibly being a new ult while changing the current one to her 2 or 3. When she was announced, I did hope she would use instruments as weapons. Piano wires to slice at enemeies for example, but I suppose that would be too similar to Khora or Valkyr at this point.
I'll never understand the warframe community, octavia, wisp and harrow are support warframes that allow you to take any weapon (yes every weapon can be taken to steel path but it doesn't feel as good as a top tier one) you want and make it a late game beast, yet for some reason everybody just wants to make her another glorified excalibur? Exalted weapons suck ass, they get outclassed by a huge number of melee weapons cost energy, stop energy regeneration and tend to have awful stances so I'm just trying to figure out what's the rush to turn a buffer into just another press 4 and do nothing else warframe?
Even though she is boring to most, I still love to play her since I love bard/support characters in games (which is why she is one of my mains), and also because I do toy around with the Mandichord A LOT whereas a lot of players kind of just make 1 song just for the stats and forget about it. If I were change anything about Octavia though (as a rework for her kit), it would be to move their 4th Ability (AMP) to the 3rd Ability Slot, and give Octavia a music related Exalted Weapon. It doesnt have to be an instrument but moreso hitting people with actually music notes or something. And her 2nd Ability (Resonator) can also be removed as an ability in place for another duration buff but it applies to everyone except for Octavia, the buff is based on the average frequency of notes played on the Mandichord and further gets buffed when notes are played with her Exalted Weapon, better fitting a support role and adding new synergy. These two changes will still make Octavia really good, if not better, but make Mallet less strong since it is stationary, along with AMP, but allowing for a dynamic flow between abilities and situations that they can be used.
I started playing Warframe during the update that Octavia came out. For some reason I was to desperate to have her because I really liked the concept of a musical character. Since I got her back in 2017 it has been my fav frame since then. I love her because the music, the fun I have making it and the simple easy gameplay she has. I know that’s the main problem with people but you know sometimes I just don’t want to be too much preoccupied of me survive in SE and just to want kill shit without to much effort.
I need to play Octavia more honestly. That's a lot of buffs for one frame and I can see hkw she can bore many players, but for me I'm all about broken frames like music girl.
Hey dude, just leaving this comment here hoping you see it. Your videos are absolutely excellent. I also am looking into making info heavy frame videos, but it's difficult to pack in all the information without the script feeling bloated and clunky. I am most certainly going to be studying how you write your videos so I can deliver a similar amount of information without giving the viewer brain fog. If there was any criticism I could offer, it would be to segment the video into chapters with time stamps in the description. You could segment the chapters by segmenting the intro, the overall history, or shaving chapters for each patch / rework, then a chapter for the modern state of the frame, then each ability. It would be massively helpful not only for me but also for everyone else I think. It does take a bit of extra time so it's not necessary, but it'd make your videos that much better. Amazing work.
We have a running gag in my friend group, that when any of us bring Octavia (mainly me, I’ve spent more time in the mandacord than playing the damn game) we just whisper “support character” as the mallet and roller obliterate entire decks of the ship were on.
I've seen quite a few frames marketed as strong the past few weeks. There was gauss, wisp, saryn, and now octavia. The greatest part about warframe is that every frame has their ups and downs to fit any playstyle. Sure it has sevagoth, but nonetheless most of the frames just about fit as equals depending on how you set them up
@@argonicapplefor sure...old hydroid was the only Warframe solidly in the F tier. His rework made him actually decent though, upped to a solid B tier now. Getting rid of the puddle was probably one of the best decisions DE has made in a Warframe rework in a while
Fortunately I found ways to make Octavia gameplay more interesting for me, considering that she is my first prime frame, and therefore my most used frame overall.
My issue with her is her music.. At best you can make ring tones you can't make actual music The guitar is alot better for that Wish they would update her to give her music more depth.. Multiple layers around 16.. Track swapping mid combat and individual key tones Also update the alt so amp plays all 3 tracks regardless
Octavia is a frame that I love conceptually, since music-based abilities for supports are something I enjoy, but the execution leads to Octavia being *too good* and *boring* at the same time. So, I've done a bit of thinking, and might wanna hear your thoughts on this 'rework'. Though, context. This rework is keeping in mind that Octavia is a mix between stationary and mobile. She *can* be mobile, but has a certain range before her abilities gain significant traction. It's more like she *can* be stationary, but can be mobile whenever she needs to with equally-as-effective results, if not slightly worse. The most important aspect is her capacity to be *supportive*. 1 - Her "Mallet" and "Resonator" become a single ability. Both of these abilities are pretty much inseperable from one another. You typically don't have a Resonator out without a Mallet, but a Mallet can sometimes be used without a Resonator. So, let's fix that. They're both one ability, with a neat twist. It has 2 modes. "Mobile" and "Stationary". While "Mobile", it moves around like normal, Resonator + Mallet as per the usual. Activating the ability again will first make the Resonator move to that destination, then it will freeze in place. It is now "Stationary" and will not move from that spot until you tell it to move again. Allows her to have a powerful defense, but a responsive mobile offense when she needs to be. The augment, I would imagine, would remove the "Stationary" mode, making it so it's always in Mobile mode whenever you command it to go somewhere. It offers greater mobility in trade for consistent area denial. 2 - Her 'Metronome' doesn't give out the "Nocturne" buff and has a unique HUD element to make it easier for teammates to time their movements + attacks for buffs. It's a bit too much for Octavia to have her invisibility, since she already has a ridiculous amount of versatility to go with it. It might be the reason why she's so effective in the first place through ability synergy. The HUD element helps people out with timing if your Metronome is actually using a melody and not... Well, spamming the note in every single slot. 3 - "Amp" is no longer a stationary, duration-based ability, instead *you* are the one making a radius that is active for as long as it is *channeled*. You remove your weapon in favor for an exalted musical instrument. The instrument has the same stats and effects as 'Mallet' and 'Resonator' with the radius being about, 20% larger? Mallet and Resonator, when active alongside Amp, are *always* buffed with the increased range and damage. Even the Amp will share in the buff, increasing the radius of itself. Finally, teammates within the radius of either you or your Mallet will experience not only a offensive boost, but also a defensive boost to compensate for the lack of firepower from Octavia while 'Amp' is active! Obvus, not saying my suggestion is "the best" or whatnot. This is just my 2 cents. Feedback's always appreciated.
I had a lot of the same ideas. I'd like to add to the metronome one though-- instead of a static three/ four buffs that are constantly given, allow a rotation. Only when she's ulting should she give all the buffs she has, while also buffing her mallet and resonator, and perhaps even her own passive (letting it counteract the channel energy cost slightly.) It feels like she came out of the oven a little too early-- just before DE latched onto true ability cohesion and interplay, but after they got all their initial ideas for her on the ground.
players who give her good song do her funny players who give her spam songs do her boring, i want they just do somting that spam thems work very bad like 20% of her true power
All she needs are her passive buffed, her 3 buffs to all be given on cast without having to jump through hoops, the invis removed, the armor buff increased and likely changed to flat armor, and her ult either be hold to cast to follow her like Lucio or just do that in all cases. This also allows them to make mallet do 2x damage in amp. She's a bard, let her be a bard by drawing attention and wanting to be front and center buffing her team.
I use Octavia for Thermia Fractures. Makes it easy and it’s a passive process. I bought Octavia when I just started playing after I was super fascinated with the mandachord and those songs people made. I played with her for a while, but got boring very quickly. Good for finishing eventually missions passively.
Imagine if the roller/mallet was combined, and her new ability would generate a buff depending on which other abilities you used in a certain order, like the Hunting Horn from Monster Hunter. It's my second main weapon from that game and I think that would really ramp up the interest in her gameplay.
Octavia is only boring if you play her in a boring way. The only thing you need do to make her fun is play the game. If you choose not to play the game, that's on you.
The mandachord could be used like Excaliburs exalted Blade. By doing combos, giving the buffs that her Amp does. The attack could be shaped like Soundwaves, changing as the combo is done correctly
This probably isn't the best place to ask, but does anyone know what happened to Octavia's ability vfx? The movement is really subdued and they basically just use one colour now. (As can be seen in this video) I can't find anything about such a change anywhere, but I remember that it wasn't always this way.
Her abilities are based on the energy color you set on your frame. Most Octavia players just make it a very dull, less visible colors because they don't like the visual clutter when you use very vibrant colors.
I still want a heavy metal/rocker themed Frame. Octavia is cool, but it'd be nice if they can design a Frame which you say makes us more engaged with playing them. My idea which had been hand waved years ago was a new quest where Frame designed by Simaris that was the musical antithesis to Suda's which he created to annoy her. But it turned into a petty squabble between the Cephalons when this new Frame gets stolen/goes berserk. But to get to the point, this concept Frame uses the now less used weapons Zenistar, Zenith, Sigma & Octavia and Azima. Because I find it a waste these Daily Tribute weapons are just there or they become niche meta weapons. It'd be cool if these became signature weapons for a Frame.
A. I don't know what magic you pull but every video you make on a Warframe makes me want to play them for hours on end. B. I think making her ult an exalted Warfan set up could be interesting, with different combos having different effects and making the Amp ability be turned into a radial buff centered on Octavia.
just a comment a few min in, shes basically a boombox, but the mixtape you put in kills all the enemies who hear it, and buffs teammates who hear it, as long as they bob their head on beat.
As a literal Octavia main It's literally the exact opposite of what you said. I've heard from MANY people that they find Octavia too micromanage orientated. they don't like having to keep track of a literal 7 different 30-60 second buffs. iif what you were saying was the case rhino Nezha Wukong Mesa Revenant and many more would be toted in the community for being boring and would be under played. Also for the love of God do not combine her one and two into a singular ability there are hundreds of reasons to use mallet on its own.
Liking the warframe histories as I attempt to get back into this game after stepping back into the game recently. Kept a finished oberan presumably because I liked him but hell if I can remember why.
The problem i have with saying her being an easy frame for all activities is why she isn't used, is that is exactly why Wukong WAS used. Spy to defense, wukong was op, either with celestial twin, or the mist step. From what i heard from some players who played her as a replacement for a short time before dropping her: they didn't want to either make an actual song and learn how to use it or they simply didn't want to have to listen to the painful gibberish that made her easy. Seriously, the biggest thing i hated about octavia's during her "plague" (when her prime came out), was that roughly 7/10 songs were simply just every slot filled to get max buffs sooner. I have since met some octavia players long after, who play songs they made or recreated from other games and have a blast both going to the beat and just being a powehouse. I will always remember a good quote, never remember who from but know it was passed around a lot, "players will optimize the fun, out of everything." And i have noticed, when optimization takes precidence they don't drop it. This lack of playing isn't because of lack of fun, but because of abundance of inconvience.
Tbh I want her 1 and 2 combined but I also want them to merge her 3 and 4 and nerf them to keep things balanced with all the new stuff, then put in two new active abilities in those slots, I also want the ability to play a full song on her mandacord instead of a short track you'll get sick of hearing in an hour
I just wish they would give us a toggle option to look how wisp looks invisible. That way for those who want to keep the clear invisibility can just keep it toggle off
in my opinion i see how octavia can be invisible using the frequencies and controlling the sounds it can cause a change in the brain of the enemy causing them to think that you arent there or is invisible in a way. since the majority of our way to navigate through obsticals is with sound.

This video was supposed to release 2 days ago but I ran into some problems with my internal drives, apologies for the delay, but I hope you enjoy the video!
Great video. Revenant please. I have not really played warframe seriously since 2021 and want to see how he has changed and how his prime version is.
Based
Awesome video, just want to tell you though...
@@cantreadyourname9505 The music seems like the best part and then I realized *platinum.* I'll get it one day though
Love it.
yea she’s literally broken
FR im proud to main her and will never let her go unless theres i need to play someone that fits the bill.
That’s mad weird
I prefer using ash imo
There's no way that doesn't get boring after a month
How Nidus revolutionized frame design
First, great title! Will definitely use that, second
Nidus and Harrow will be together as those frames released around a similar time as well sharing their designs (ability synergy stuffs being similar)

The frame I can always rely on when my other frames can't really handle the content
Fr 😂
It is hella odd how a warframe based around music goes invisible, instead of like, becoming the center of the enemies focus like some sorta musical tank frame. Playing Octavia should feel like performing a concert of death, but instead it feels like your playing the worlds laziest DJ hiding behind the same track the whole mission .w.
The mandachord is basically the synthesizer and her abilities are the speakers with her 4 being the amp
It's genuinely interesting to say that it's exactly her current state that I was able to enjoy Warframe as any other frame just fell boring for me
I genuinely agree on her 1 and 2 needing to be combined, but I genuinely want her to stay like this as she allowed me to enjoy Warframe.
I also like her power. I can bring her to sp and use weaker weapons without concerning
this dude is just a meta slave i wouldn't watch any more of his videos.
- Equinox: You activate your 3 and 4 and pop it every now, maybe use your 2 or subsume it for armor strip
- Baruuk: press 3 and 1 until meter full then go for 4 and just press your abilities now and then.
This
That’s why i subsumed Resonator for Breach Surge on my octavia
sometimes
Rollerball is pretty worthless and is the easiest choice ever to be replaced by a subsume in all of the game honestly. It provides basically nothing and so many other options "rest/rage is most notable" make her even more insane.
octavia also *obviously* needs an ability to 'switch sets' as well because it can become insanely annoying if you're hearing the same 4 tacts for 1:30 hours (so you can switch up the music, maybe at least let cycle either between 4 chosen tracks or make a smart implementation that you can actually scroll through *all* tracks you've made
that would make great sense in terms of debuffing
eworking her - coupling each melody with only existing buff so you have to switch melody to adapt to situation resulting in something how equinox was intended to be played.
To make it spicy (but hard to develop) buffs can be auto recognized by % of high-low notes, tempo or other parameters. So mortal combat melody gives huge melee bonus, doom ost - multishot, calming music - inviz, nfs osts from y2k - parkour boost
True. Went on a 1.5 hour survival run and had nightmares of my tone deaf set up
I wish they would give mandachkrs accidentals to work with, and space to make songs that are longer than 8 seconds, at least 30 secs please I beg de
I bought octavia when i first got the game because i loved the idea of a music frame, best purchase i ever made... it carried me through the game for so long. I find it fun because of the music that plays, it's chill. You can vibe to the music you made while her mallet kills everyone.
I kind of love her for certain things. I had to do steel path solo so basically she was my best friend
As someone who has recently returned to Warframe after barely playing it on the Xbox, it’s interesting to hear about what the various Warframes in the game are like.
Yeah the frames have changed a lot over the years. Heck Voruna (the newest frame) has 4 passives and ability synergies that are demanding.
@@zeinoa586 i never babysit my energy, i dont even pay attention to it

@@nickrl113 They'd have to either fit it into one of the existing melee weapon categories or make an entirely new weapon type specifically for Octavia
The slide attack is practically BEGGING to be a guitar knee slide.
i want spam songs have lover bonus
Like a rolling amplifier that makes the guitar strokes better with combos to learn for good damage maybe?
@@Turjan_Miir what?
Theres an augment for her 2, so u can tell the roller when and where to be stationary.
@@Turjan_Miir why would they be in the line of fire
When a "jack of all trades" doing better than a specialist Warframe, you know theres something wrong
Actually there are some good songs out there that are appealing that also fit the stacking

@@EllaKarhu i know and it irritates me to know
You're probably already aware, but the video's capped at 480p.
from what I've heard she practically the gameplay equivalent of a "Mary sue" character tho that my opinion at least

@@jnickslick8834 Nice to see another HH main. Been playing it since MHFU and boy was it really lonely being a Hunting Horn main way back in the day.
Just like Sona from League
1. Infinite scaling AFK dmg
2. Turn off enemy AI
3. YES
4. YES LOUDER
What if her 1,2 and 3 were tied to different notes. Different note combinations offer different buffs or "spells" or something. Then her 4 could still be an amp, but it boosts the power to her buffs. This would keep the musical bard theme while also making her more engaging. Just food for thought.
He wants a hunting horn exalted weapon
The mandachord is basically beat mixing software lmao

Ty! This made the video better
I don't know, Octavia is already fun to me cuz I love music and the frame is just so spectacular to play as.
Octavia should be able to deal dmg when playing the Shawzin.
Also, forgot to add that, when she is playing the Shawzin, she can play her drums
Other warframe: ultra voltage, molecular control, unlimited spears, stomp so hard slow time.
Octavia: MUSIC GO BRRRRRR
Would be nice to just give Octavia a floating Dj table when she uses her 4.
Love your content man ty for pushing out these good videos.
Glad you enjoy it
octavia is my most used frame, only change i did is remove the roomba for Nourish from grendel
2 mentions that doesn't matter tha much:
I think bossfights she wont be particularly great, but then again skill dmg topically don't affect them.
Its not boring
Its really relaxing
I can play longer due to not tired that much
Not tired at all even using octavia
Don’t lie you made baby shark with that mandochord. We all have.
Fun fact, NSR released on the same day as Heart Of Deimos.
I have joint pain in my fingers whenever I play her for too long xD
My favourite invis frame, can stay invisible for hours pretty effortlessly if you play her on the move and refresh the invis with a couple of quick slide attacks, but keeping an eye on her timers gets old quick unfortunately, not much of an issue for many regular mission types though. She seems one of the more misunderstood, in regards to abilities, warframes out there.
No she's not misunderstood at all, she's just boring
Just get shade with octavia
Making it so if ability are timed properly with a mini game like a rythme game hafled energy cost but if you messed it up doubled cost, and making ability being used in a certain order giving like 1.5x ability strength or .8x if used out of order nothing super harsh but something to encorge good play (also these could be switched it doesn't matter which or what buff ).
going even further a streak or style system which made the minigame harder the better you did making the mini game harder but giving better and better rewards could make her a high skillcap frame. especially if the style meter is combined with how well her ability are doing (how much do you miss your crouches, how much of mallets uptime is wasted with no one or few enemies shooting it, how often is amp buffing teammates or other ability, roller does matter and is dog shit if their is a rework this ability should be completely changed)
High skill octavia could be constantly repotstioning buffing teammates with amp while mallet takes in fire and as they go to the heart of action and use their ability well they get stronger and the ability get cheaper so they can continue (similar to how good saryns can keep toxin # high and never let it die)
low skill is still possible, but a little worse, with set to forget and as they uses their skills poorly their ability get worse and they use them less frequently removing the set forget and do nothing (which is why set to forget and invis is bad it leads to near afk to full on afk)
I think nerfs esp in warframe are almost never the answer this is a community which is built around optimization and min maxing if we can raise the skill cealing a lot lower the skill floor a little it would make her more dynamic and still remove her negatives. if you think this playstyle couldn't work for octavia and or does fit her current kit see how she is played in void cascade with consent repostioning having to understand map control and having to understand how to get the most out of mallet and amp to buff the team buff the mallet and not waste upkeep. this is when she the most fun and going more into that seems like the right move to me.
(or DE could be lazy give a buff to ability strength and range and make them decay so you cant just set and forget but this would not be fun at all and ruin her for me and I think most players while being more "balanced")
I replace the roller with Nourish
@@dixon137same p much the while reason i got grendle after getting the prime it sucks but it needs to be changed so it doesnt hurt you by using it
I'll fondly recall cheesing the star chart way faster than I should have as Octavia Prime as a new player, but boy I'll probably never play her again.
honestly bro props to u pushing out vids this often
Thank you! I always try to stay consistent with the schedule and quality of uploads!
Was actually expecting 1010's theme to play after you bringing up NSRs in the video
Okay I’ve seen your videos on my timeline a lot and you definitely deserve a subscribe
Nice vid man, can't wait for Zephyr's highlight.
5 second video
Sure it has sevagoth, but nonetheless most of the frames just about fit as equals depending on how you set them up
But Sevagoth is strong af if you put in the effort?
@@Sci-Fi_Freak_YT yeah literally every frame is, even then sevagoth is kinda just, there
Hydroid:
@@argonicapplefor sure...old hydroid was the only Warframe solidly in the F tier. His rework made him actually decent though, upped to a solid B tier now. Getting rid of the puddle was probably one of the best decisions DE has made in a Warframe rework in a while
Nice content,i hope you get far man!
Fortunately I found ways to make Octavia gameplay more interesting for me, considering that she is my first prime frame, and therefore my most used frame overall.
My issue with her is her music.. At best you can make ring tones you can't make actual music
The guitar is alot better for that
Wish they would update her to give her music more depth.. Multiple layers around 16.. Track swapping mid combat and individual key tones
Also update the alt so amp plays all 3 tracks regardless
Only when she's ulting should she give all the buffs she has, while also buffing her mallet and resonator, and perhaps even her own passive (letting it counteract the channel energy cost slightly.)
It feels like she came out of the oven a little too early-- just before DE latched onto true ability cohesion and interplay, but after they got all their initial ideas for her on the ground.
players who give her good song do her funny players who give her spam songs do her boring, i want they just do somting that spam thems work very bad like 20% of her true power
Cool vid, can"t wait to see more of them.
If u have amazon prime, right now the normal varient is free through prime gaming for this year if anyone is interested.
It's nice to have the option for cheese if you want it. Always down for more options.
(As can be seen in this video)
I can't find anything about such a change anywhere, but I remember that it wasn't always this way.
Her abilities are based on the energy color you set on your frame. Most Octavia players just make it a very dull, less visible colors because they don't like the visual clutter when you use very vibrant colors.
You are an absolute genius for using No Straight Roads soundtrack with Octavia!
I'm glad you noticed!
I somewhat recently came back to the game after a long hiatus. They murdered Zenistar
People complain Octavia made Warframe too easy, but they gravitate towards Wisp and used to gravitate towards Wukong, pretty funny if you ask me.
A. I don't know what magic you pull but every video you make on a Warframe makes me want to play them for hours on end.
B. I think making her ult an exalted Warfan set up could be interesting, with different combos having different effects and making the Amp ability be turned into a radial buff centered on Octavia.
just a comment a few min in, shes basically a boombox, but the mixtape you put in kills all the enemies who hear it, and buffs teammates who hear it, as long as they bob their head on beat.
loving that fashion, what palettes are you using?
Also, you can make max damage/note songs that aren’t just straight 16th-note spam
I will always remember a good quote, never remember who from but know it was passed around a lot, "players will optimize the fun, out of everything."
And i have noticed, when optimization takes precidence they don't drop it.
