    the through hole came out great on both sides of the wall, the long side of the 30 degree triangle nears 11" on 12" bit, easy to let up pressure, sds bit are grinders not cutters, yes vid on way to explain.

    Pretty close to the vinyl siding, maybe install aluminum flashing about 12 inches wide with a right angle lip say 2 inches wide and about 2 feet long that will cover the siding to protect from heat. Heat rules and that could be a sensitive area. Great job.

    It is looking good. I did that 5 years ago but i used the same pipe but it was galvinised on the outside saved a lot of money on the total install.If anyone else is attempting this look in to it instead of the stainless steel pipe.

    I thought I was the only one still using the old skill 1/2 drive drills. Workhorses I use for going through posts, concrete, and soil. I have a couple...probably outlast my Makita intended for this.

    Hire a diamond core drill next time you''ll get a MUCH smoother hole, quicker , and with much less grief and less chance of straining your hands/wrists!! I have all sizes up to 152mm. My 220/150mm s/s flue is outside the house so, no walls to drill through!!

    I'm doing this exact install. About to cut the hole. Did you drill a 9" hole for some extra room? Just curious since yours looks pretty good.

    Why did you use the 30 degree elbow it looks like you would still had room to clean out and get a brush under the T with a straight joint ?

    • @ROCKNTV1
      @ROCKNTV1  Місяць тому

      tht t is straight ,, you clean top down

  • @paulprocure3673
    @paulprocure3673 9 років тому

    Question for you....Selkirk's installation instructions specifically say not to offset the T-Joint to go around a soffit. I notice you did and I am thinking of doing the same (24"). Yours has been installed now for over a year, have you had any problems having done that?

    • @ROCKNTV1
      @ROCKNTV1  5 років тому +1

      no i did'nt, its a straight shot up past the shingles

    Also if you have a drill without a clutch pump the trigger to stop it pulling your wrist out.

    you are putting a sds+ drillbit in a normal drilling machine ?
    what I do is use a thin drillbit, 8mm in the middle and when it reaches the inside I make a cord on it with a pencil, draw the same circle on the inside and drill arround the edge with a small drillbit, that prevents the explosion in the inside (most of the times).
    but your hole (in the wall) looks great, just perfect

    Couldn't you have just used an electric stud finder instead of peeling the siding ?

    • @ROCKNTV1
      @ROCKNTV1  5 років тому +1

      I wanted dead center of the wall stud, finders will find misses. Vynle siding is easy to unzip.

    Is that from some foreign language that means "Oriented" (which means to align or position something relative to a specified position).
