I didn't see it mentioned yet, but this music made its debut in the penultimate patch of 1.0 as the music to the open world "Castrum Novum" in Mor Dhona, which means it was originally field music! Just started ff14 again after a long break from Heavensward. I miss being able to hear the full themes like when it first came out. All low lvl stuff seems to be nuked now.
Just beat ARR a few days ago! Gotta say, I don't think I've felt more hype than when me and my party faced Livia. I don't know what it was, but when she got out of the Magitek armor something felt so fucking hype. The music was conveniently at it's climax with the guitar as she was giving her speech before starting off the final phase of the fight. It was the second time I felt chills up my arms because of how cool that moment was. First was the summoning of Titan!
God this theme gets me every time. I wish I could've played the original--YES, I am well aware of how bad it was--so I could have experienced the splendor of fighting the Garlen Empire firsthand. Oh well. I'll just have to settle for the current game. 😁
Despite knowing Nero went his own way after his later Encounter with Cid after 2.0, I get the ominous (and somewhat happy) feeling that his role in FFXIV will not end there. Everytime I listen to this theme, it's not Livia, but Nero that pops into my head, with notions and thoughts that he is somewhere out there, finding his own path to become full of pride once again, and this time, I believe, whether for good or ill, he will undoubtedly end up making a grand re-appearance that will leave us with the lingering thoughts of his legacy, without aid from the empire and built solely with his two hands. Because regardless of his attitude, he was a man exuding an aura full of hidden depths.
This sounds more like it would play when you're fighting an old rival for the last time than it sounds like a fight against the generals of an invasive empire. Especially when the guitar kicks in. I love it.
This theme is just so good. It gives you a lot of motivation but at the same time is a very funny and entertaining song. Not to mention you know everything is going to get serious!
hilarious to watch you skirt the back side to get to the stockpile while the bard just waltzes up to try and beat you to the punch. its like people dont bother looking to see if someone is already in place to click the payload to load the cannons and go there instead.
