Consider low vamp vs high vamp shoes, coloration (skin tone will be “lengthening”), openness of shoes (strappy vs solid), and the heaviness of the shoes (bulk, attached geegaws, and fabrication). Play and take photos. Find out which “rules” work for you.

Your advice is timeless and spot on, so us older ladies can get help too. As we go through the stages of our life, needs change, vertigo kicks in and heels are out. Our feet change too, weight, and lifestyles like retirement all are a factor in what we do and what we wear. Florida living is all about comfort...... loose, linen (I sew), low sandals and my now apple shape likes straight leg pants. We have to accommodate and factor in these changes. Sometimes I look to see what aging actors are wearing........and of course Ms. Chi.........hope your feeling better:)

Love these tips! A lot of times we don't think about how shoe type affects length appearance. I will say often times we are in situations where we can't wear heels. For example, we'll be standing for a long time or will be walking. There are many differences among sneakers too and you can find some that are wider/taller/flesh toned, that help create height.
I know you said no sneakers with wide leg light weight pants but have you tried wearing platform sneakers with them? I have sneakers with 2 inch platform with I think look good with the wide leg pants. That’s pretty much going to be my “uniform” when I’m walking all over Paris next month.

I am not petite but still watch your videos. I like you get right to the point. I have size 111/2 ( and 5'11) so find shoe shopping a struggle . The manufacturers think a woman's foot stops growing at size 10. Fortunately l don't have a problem with clothes. ( Except for jackets I have more success with men's ( broad shoulders) Have a beautiful day.

I think slim straight leg jeans are flattering as long as the hem hits just above the ankle bone, showing the slightest skin. Also , i like lightweight trousers (even tho Chi says not to). The key is to find lightweight, high waist, flat front slimmer cut, and the hem barely floats the ground. Again , as long as the pant has a slimmer cut with light fabric I feel it is stylish. Also the top should be a more tailored slim fit to not overwhelm our short stature , tucked in (or cropped at waistline) with a stylish coordinating belt.
This is great information. My only concern is that jeans worn with heels look seriously stupid. Heels are dressy and jeans are casual no matter how much you paid for them. You cannot take a person seriously if they are clicking around in heels or dressy shoes with jeans. I have a bunch of grandkids. Sneakers, streetwear, and jeans are no joke to any of them. I will ask about a wedge shoe, but my guess is no. Any other options?

This fashionista typically wears a wedge underneath longer length flare or wide leg. She'll often wear a platform white sneaker or silver brogue under a more voluminous palazzo pant. In all these cases, all you can see is a long expanse of pant leg. There's no shoe peering out from under a hem that chops ✂️ her off. 😉If you can't match your shoes & socks|tights w/your bottom (i.e., skirt or pant)〰️when all else fails go for nude shoes/hosiery. You can choose a skin toned sling back, a loafer, a ballerina, a sneaker, a boot, etc. At least visually, they will not stunt your height.
