I think that is okay. As I said at the end of the video, these are just a trend, but you aren't "out of style" if you wear other jeans like bootcut or flares. Fashion is about wearing what you LOVE and what looks best on you.
I appreciate your video on this because I always felt like I looked frumpy in wide leg jeans sometimes but I learned how to wear them to flatter my body, by my body type. I never feel like i have to wear anything that doesn’t work for me. I do not chase trends. Thank you so much for sharing with us. God bless !!!!
Thank You for this video and especially your last tip. Not all trends work for you. I am a 70+ lady who is 180+ and 5 ft 2. No wide leg Jean is going to make the most or less of my waist or my height. I carry a massive cyst on my abdomen which can’t be removed and I just look like a pregnant Old Lady . I do the best I can with what I have and try to divert the eye to my upper body and feel as good as I can in my clothes. Thanks for this video.
You bet! A trend just means a certain style is more popular, but it is still just a style. There are so many other options for denim that still look modern and current.

I'm 5'4", about 130lb, and own several pairs of wide leg jeans and pants. I actually like a more oversized top/blouse draping material with them, especially because I have a larger chest, and the last thing I need is something that esentuates it. I guess I don't really care if someone thinks I weigh 15lbs, more it's what "I'm" comfortable wearing. 😅
I’ve not found a wide leg jean for my apple shape. If they fit in the waist, they are baggy in the butt. What I am in love with is the Clara SunWoo wide leg pants with pockets. They fit my butt and my waist at the same time bc they are a knit fabric. Very high quality material, just thick enough to smooth out the imperfections and not be too heavy. Dress them up or dress them down and the perfect alternative to jeans.
Thank you!!! I don’t buy wide legged jeans (overwhelming for my 5’4” height) but this will help me style the more straight legged ones I have, that I always feel frumpy in.
58, 190, 5'2"....I ADORE wide leg jeans and cords! I hate restrictive clothing! I do hem them just a titch higher so I dont trip AND I look for cropped jeans because I am short and sometimes the cropped length hits just above my cute boots and shoes.
Great tip on looking for cropped jeans when you are shorter. Knowing your inseam is so important! It allows you to make smart decisions regardless of what the "brand" calls it.
No baggy butt 😂 I love my MadeWell wide leg jeans. I have several styles, and now, because of your video, I can style them and not just wear them. Thank you!!
This was very helpful. I have tried on probably 6 to 10 pairs of wide leg jeans and sent them all back. They swamp me. This helps me understand why. Thank you!
They aren't easy to wear, for sure. They are always going to have visual weight because of their structure and style, but hopefully these tips will help mitigate some of that.
I agree. I have tried so many on and never have bought them. I'm tall and they make me look huge. My favorite jeans are long, skinny kick. I am passing on this trend. Love this video. I will quit trying. It's OK 😊
I am 65 years old 58 and 200 pounds. I will be getting at least one pair. I can’t wait to find some thanks for all the tips. I’m looking for a budget pair so I’m hoping you have that on your list.
Thank you so much for this video! I have a few pairs of wide- leg jeans and I love them. At times though I do feel like I can look a bit frumpy and now I think I understand why thanks to your video! I will definitely be trying some of your tips to balance my look! Comment: I would have loved at the end of your video for you to have showed lots of these tips in outfits as a visual for those of us who need it lol.
Great Tips, TY. As a plus size 5'4 woman, initially I welcomed wide-leg jeans and pants bc they skimmed my thighs. But as the wide-leg trend grew so did the leg circumference. Most online clothes sites only usually private pant length and inseam - but never hem circumference. Also, too wide jeans and pants can be awkward to walk in. And walking up a flight of stairs -- I'd compare it to attempting the same in a prom gown. I disagree w/ your statement that wide-leg jeans are straight from crouch to hem. I've seen wide-leg jeans that fan out. As paying shipping to retrn items that don't fit, I'm now very particular when I buy pants . I've gotten pretty good at estimating what's a 20" vs 32" inch leg circumference. I look for petite or crop versions which don't require hemming. And I'm even shifting back to true straight leg jeans and pants. As you advised, I find they fit my shape and my style better.
I did not say that wide-leg are straight from crotch to hem. I said they are straight from waist to hem. And they are - that is their definition. (Feel free to google it.) They should not bell out. If they bell out, more than likely they are a flare that is pretending to be a wide-leg jean.
Thank you! I have bought 4 pairs of wide leg jeans and I was drowning in them! Now I know what to look for when I shop. Looking online using your style page in the next minute....
I'm 5'2", size 4, hourglass shape, 57 years old and have just recently bought several pairs of flattering wide leg and flare jeans in petite lengths. Gap high rise stride, Old Navy Wow wide leg, Levi's Ribcage wide leg, Gap 70's high rise flare and Levi's 726 high rise flare. I haven't worn my skinny jeans in awhile and finally donated all of them to Goodwill.
@@ceciliarodriguez5615Levi's Ribcage wideleg and bell are solid choices, often on sale at Macy's and Kohl's in regular lengths, run TTS and don't shrink. Old Navy Wow wide leg in the darkest blue wash look way more expensive/chic than their cost, run a tad big, mine shrunk in the dryer but at 18 bucks on sale I'll buy another and hang dry. Love my Gap High Rise 70s in medium indigo, bought a second pair. Gap High Rise Stride in Dark Indigo, runs a tad big, stretches out during the day in the waist (not baggy butt) but is so cute on and doesn't shrink. Levi's 726 flares are super cute, you can even get them at target if you wear regular length. This is the first time in years I've found any jeans I've loved that look more "put together". I have some Levi's Wedgies that are okay but they're way more casual because of the light wash/straight leg. Sorry for the essay 😂
I think in general wide leg jeans are not for apple shape curvy ladies. I had one pair altered to slim down the legs. I then discovered that the ankle flare pull on jeans were perfect for me. Bought 2 pair and the fit was perfect. Women with Countrol. I'm only 5'2" and 157 pounds so need jeans that are slimming. Sometimerimes referred to as boot cut. Slim torso and flare doesn't start until comes to ankle. Who wants their legs to appear wider? Only the tall thin models.
Yes, I talked about how Wide-Leg Jeans are going to more voluminous compared to flares or bootcuts due to their construction. But, I don't think they are only for "tall, thin models" - we have several ladies in our community who are rocking them, but they have found ones that fit perfectly for them.
I just bought a pair of wide legged jeans. 62 yo 53 123 lbs. I love love love my skinny legged jeans now that I actually found some that touch my skinny legs…lol. But thought I’d try the wide leg again. I’m a turtleneck sweater junkie in the winter. I figure the fit of the sweater will pair well with the wide legged jeans. I’ll have to sift thru the shoe collection to see what will work with them.
If you have straight hips too it’s helpful to not go to wide on the hem circumference; and maybe go with a wider bootcut instead. I feel limited with my body type, I really only look the best in boot cuts.
Being 5'6'' and 119lbs with rather small (but far apart) measurements, I prefer wide-leg jeans that are more fitted around the waist and hip area and then fall loose below the hips. Also need full length, like touching the back of my foot, other than that they are gonna look weird on me. Learned that by trying on different fits. It's kind of hard to find a pair that actually FITS around waist AND hip line though, because in my case they are 11 inches apart in measurements and those wide-leg jeans often times have no to barely any stretch to them. I also like pairing them with more structured shoes and tops to balance the relaxed look of the jeans. Also using a blend of denim that's made of cotton and viscose can help because it is a more lightweight and flowy fabric than pure denim. For some people that might be a great option. Which style, material blend and fit works for whom highly depends on a person's built and the way they move, I think. I also do think that wide-leg tailored pants are a bit easier to wear comfortably and also easier to style, it might also be easier to find one that actually fits and feels nicely. But that's probably just my personal preference. I wear lightweight wide-leg, high waisted, tailored pants a lot during summer. I never struggled to find some that actually fit me nicely but it took me over a year to find a pair of wide-leg jeans that does fit me well AND I can still move freely in. I still prefer skinny jeans because to me they are not only easier to style and combine, they also feel way more comfortable (due to the higher amount of elastane of course) but that's also - definitely - personal preference. I get that some people don't feel too great in skinny jeans, I for sure love them though.
Exactly agree with you on the skinnies! I still wear them. They are comfortable and no excess fabric to feel uncomfortable dragging around! I have ventured into bootcut and flares & like them when I want to get a little more “dressed up” to go out!
Well, I appreciate your advice, and I’ve tried several pairs. Inevitably, I feel sloppy and clownish. So I’ve settled on straight leg or slight flare styles. Hoping styles go back to normal soon!
Good for you for trying a trend and then deciding it isn't for you. Knowing what looks best on you is key, but trying new things to keep your wardrobe modern is important too.
This is so off point, but I love your book shelves and all your great stuff and the way you did your books by color. Great points on jeans. I like almost all the styles , but agree with if your pants are wide legged you can not wear a sloppy baggy top, and if you are petite don’t get a pair that is too baggy. ❤❤❤
I tried a pair on the other day and didn't hate them. I didn't care for the fit around my abdomin tho (I'm a 'straight') I shall keep looking for the right ones! 😊
Try the Women with Control petite pull on flare leg cut from QVC. They are made in China but the fit is perfect and slimming . I bought the medium blue and the black. Wash in cold water before wearing.
I’m a straight rectangle with a short waist. I love the Spanx flare pull on jeans. I’m 5ft 4 in. I buy them on line. The are narrower in the thighs so they don’t overwhelm me.
I tried a pair. I am 5 foot eight. My slim hips and legs are attractive features. They made my hips and legs look wide; they looked ridiculous and I returned them.
Good for you for trying something new. Like I said on the video, if they aren't for you, that's okay. Not every trend needs to be for everyone, but not trying them at all isn't good either. We should always explore the new trends in fashion and see what works and doesn't work for us.
First, thank you for letting me know about the broken link. I appreciate that. The jacket is from Nordstrom. Here is the link --> rstyle.me/+KIG6AJKFUk-EO2n91vEZKA It runs big, so size down if possible.
4 foot 11 inch and wide leg jeans are too out of proportion for my small frame. Some trends are not meant for petite. ( no, wearing tall heel shoes is falling down scary for a 67 year old petite)
Have you tried the petite sizing? Or the cropped sizing? Of course, if they aren't for you, that's okay. But your height shouldn't be the issue. Lots of brands have shorter inseams.
I am just transitioning from my skinny jeans into straight leg jeans. I luckily found a pair that fits like a glove. Are straight leg heans in style now, or nobody wears them?
So, style is different than trends. Styles are specific (wide-leg, straight, flare, bootcut, skinny, etc.) and "styles" are always around and they get worn all the time. Trends are when a style (like wide-leg) becomes popular. This means there are more options in the store and you see people wearing them more often. When people say "out of style" (I really hate that word combination, but it is what is used) it should mean a specific outfit formula with specific trends. So, think the early 2000s with skinny jeans, oversized tunic, vest, fashion boots, and an infinity scarf. That overall "look" is dated. But take the same skinny jeans and add an updated blazer, fitted blouse, and mary jane flat with gold or silver chain accessories and that look feels current. So, to answer your question. Lots of people wear straight jeans, but to look current, they will need to add a few things to their outfit that look on trend. It's why I tell people not to chase trends, but to chase style. Hope this helps.
I am 48, long legs, but not tall, 5'4, size 00....its hard enough finding jeans in 00, as 0's are too big. I dont have many options, plus, many of them are just a little too short, so they arent as flattering...sometimes i look like, i have no shape, and im drowning in them, or if i wear healswith wide leg, my legs look too long. Skinny jeans fit my body the best and i can wear any shoe... theyll come back at some point. In a couple of years, they will tell us nobody looks good in wide leg jean😂
It would depend on you body type. For certain body types, the fold up would create visual interest that would defeat their goal in looking balanced. If you don't want to pay to have them hemmed, cutting them for a raw edge is an option.
I've just brought my first wide leg jean, I'm 5ft2 the jeans are 29 inches inside leg my inside leg is 28 so with a small heel boot say 1.5/2 inches the jeans feel too short but OK with flats, , so should I cropped them so I can wear them with my boots, what length do suggest would be best for me.
These are too short to wear with boots (at least the heel height you are describing). One of the first things you learn in my course is the RIGHT inseam for flats and boots (and how to figure that out).
I've tried to find that perfect wide legged jean, and haven't found one that is not super wide looking on my leg. Do you know which jean brand shave smaller diameter wide leg jeans?
I have a list of the brands/styles that have worked best for our community. But you'll need to try them on and compare them to your frame. Remember to use the tip about your thigh circumference compared to the hem circumference. --> www.shopltk.com/explore/adoreyourwardrobe/posts/1ceb33ff-9257-11ef-a064-0242ac11001e
Welcome to UA-cam. I never understand why people just don't scroll by if they don't like me, what I wear, my body, the way I talk, how often I use my hands, the way I organize my business (yes, this is a business because of the cost it takes to produce a video - people would be shocked). Not all opinions need to be expressed, especially when you skip right on by.
I’m petite 5’2”, I’m terrified of wide leg jeans. I feel like they will make me look like a dwarf…mainly because I don’t wear heels at all so I’m afraid wide leg jeans with flats may be too much on a short person like me
I'm 5'2 with a petite frame and love wide leg jeans. For me, it depends on the denim "stiffness". If the denim is thick and stiff they'll overwhelm your frame. I've tried a few on that made me laugh out loud at how bad they looked. Gap, Levi's and Old Navy all have versions that the fabric flows well so you don't look cartoonish.
They can be, but that look doesn't work for most body types. I think it looks better to either professional hem them or cut them off for a raw hem to the correct inseam.
Covering your tummy with larger sized shirts covers more than just your tummy, it covers your shoulders, breasts, torso, arms. Finding the right rise of jeans so you feel comfortable in them with your tummy and the right-sized and length (and fabric content) top allows even ladies with a tummy to wear jeans with shorter top with confidence.
The only way I found to make them work for me is NOT to succumb to the trend, LOL! I tried a pair from Old Navy. They did fit but I just didn't like them. I will stick with straight leg jeans.
Four suggestions: 1.) Try barrel-cut jeans, which have a slight outward curve which make.the line more defined. Find a pair that has darts on the inseam, creating the curve. 2.) Adjust the length of the legs. I am currently shortening a lot of my pants and jeans because I want to show off my boots and shoes in colder weather, and sandals or strappy shoes to show off my tan in summer. I think shortening the leg to your personal preference creates movement and a lighter touch when standing and walking, instead of torso and curated accessories, supported by two heavy denim columns. 3.) If you are wearing wide-leg jeans, be sure their length is slightly above the soles of your shoes/boots, or you will trip and possibly fall. 4..) if you want a looser fit in the waist, follow the boys' trend of layering your jeans over the top of your "boxers". And do it asap, because it will soon be everywhere. Right now it's still new and unexpected for. women, so you'll be a trail blazer.
Hmm, did you watch the video? I talked about length of jeans and where they should hit at your shoes. As far as barrel jeans, I'm not a fan (they are too similar to boyfriend) and too baggy with not as much structure. And as far as wearing my underwear so it can be seen by anyone ... I'm not sure how that would fly with me or my audience.
Barrel cut jeans are so ugly - they make you look bow legged. And showing your underwear 😧. I always thought guys looked stupid, so please, not the girls 🙏
I dont understand how wide-leg jeans are such a fashion trend if it is so tricky to wear them that we need to watch videos about them! Having said that, your video is very professional and you give some good info 😊 I don't like wide-leg jeans myself but a few months ago, i ordered some boot cut jeans online (which i like, as well as straight cut). They turned out to be much more like wide leg jeans than boot cut. Due to a strict refund policy, i couldn't send them back so am putting up with them!
@amandamorgan7049 The right pairs are really flattening. My husband and I were having a heated discussion about a really annoying person and mid rant my husband said, you really need to buy more of those pants 😂
60, 5’8” and wear wide leg jeans all the time. Balance and proportion matter so I wear heeled clogs and a more fitted top/sweater. Not challenging to style at all
Of course you can pick what you want to wear and not every trend is for everyone, but don't let age be the thing that stops you. I have lots of ladies in their 60s and 70s in my community rocking wide-leg jeans.
I’m 62 and defo will be wearing fashionable clothes for ever , go for it wear them if they suit you , no age barrier looking good is looking good at any age 🎉
I know these are the trend and I want to wear and like them. But it’s a struggle for me I am no longer young and skinny and they just don’t look good and I don’t really like them on other women either.
The key is FIT. I tried to layout all of the things to look for in a great fitting pair, but it will take "kissing a few frogs to find the right ones". And remember, FIT doesn't care about the price tag, it's about how they fit on your body.
I have thin legs and would not be caught dead in wide leg pants of any kind. They make me look fat and I stick to clothes that look good on me, rather than fads. 2:46 😢
At 5’3”, short waist and extremely curvy hips and bust, these are a hard pass for me. Also, I can;t walk around for any length of time in heels. What bothers me most about trends is that it becomes so difficult to find other styles that flatter.
Luckily, there are lots of other jean styles out there right now that will keep your wardrobe current (flares and bootcuts, specifically). And you don't have to wear heel with any of these, you just need to make sure your pants are hemmed correctly for flats.
I work out hard almost everyday and my size 0-2, 5’2” frame looks best in fitted, skinny jeans or leggings. They enhance my slim and toned body. This style is something I would never wear, along with oversized, voluminous tops. I am not trying to hide my body with clothing. This style would look good on almost nobody. I simply do not like it.
That's the great thing about trends - there are a lot of them and they work for some people and not others. But, I don't agree with you that they good on almost nobody. They look good on lots of people when you make sure to find a pair that fits correctly.
Nancy - Not cool. Why be mean? She didn't say she liked skinny jeans and even if she did, saying trigger words like "cheap" and "vulgar" isn't kind. Let's try and be kind, alright?
Another way, that would have been constructive and not negative, would have been to say. Hi Kelly. I like your videos. I'd love for you to show some examples in your future videos of plus-sized gals too so we can see it visually. Thanks!
I'm the same height as you. I have 3 pair of wide leg jeans. I absolutely love them. I wear a fitted tank top or a cropped top to offset the bagginess of the jeans. Maybe you could try that ...
That is why fit is so important. My guess is you've tried pairs with a bigger hem circumference. Try a pair with a smaller one and you might notice a difference.
Maybe you didn't watch the whole video? My last point was that not all trends are for everybody. That would line up with your comment if you watched video.
That would require me to have five live models in the studio since I teach on body types. That it is outside of realm of finances for the size of my account. But please keep watching my videos so that one day, when I make enough money, I could do that. Maybe, I could hire you?
Why would one chase a silly trend ? Most look really silly attempting to follow the latest nonsense, just wear a sign that says “ I need attention” Save you lots of money
And YET, you watched the video. Or did you? Because if you did, you would have heard me say, "You don't have to wear them. There are lots of other flattering jeans out there."
I love them. They remind me of an earlier time in my life. I also LOVE a high-waisted pant. SO glad they’re back in my closet.
I hear you, I rocked wide leg jeans in the late 70’s. 😊
I have purchased 3 pairs of wide-legged jeans, but really prefer my bootcut jeans.
I think that is okay. As I said at the end of the video, these are just a trend, but you aren't "out of style" if you wear other jeans like bootcut or flares. Fashion is about wearing what you LOVE and what looks best on you.

You are so welcome!
Exactly my thought - body type is the key to dresse well, not the trend.
Thank You for this video and especially your last tip. Not all trends work for you. I am a 70+ lady who is 180+ and 5 ft 2. I hate wide leg jeans, I look like a hobbit in them.
You said math and science and hooked me in. Yes, this is my first video of yours! Loved your intro.
Awesome! Glad you are here.
I'm 5'4", about 130lb, and own several pairs of wide leg jeans and pants. 62, 5’7” and 126lbs love the wide leg jeans/trousers , I also like them long as anything half mast look like I’ve shrunk them 😄
How do you stay so small? I'm 63 5'7" and weigh 170lbs
Same!
I love wide-leg jeans and this video is so helpful in how to wear them.
I'm so glad it was helpful! Thanks for commenting!
I did buy a wide leg Jean and besides being too long, I love the fit! I'm in the process of hemming them. Thanks for the tips!
YEAH! I'm so happy to hear that!
Thank you!!! I don’t buy wide legged jeans (overwhelming for my 5’4” height) but this will help me style the more straight legged ones I have, that I always feel frumpy in.
Awesome! Glad these tips helped.
i wear for my body not for strange eyed designers who don't like women! Personally I've been a sailor leg pants since the 60s! Thank you! ❤

If you have lymphedema these “wide leg” jeans are super helpful.
Good to know! Thanks for the tip.
No baggy butt 😂
I love my MadeWell wide leg jeans. I have several styles, and now, because of your video, I can style them and not just wear them.
Thank you!!
This makes me so happy! Love you found some you love.
Which MadeWell jeans didn’t give you the baggy butt?
This was very helpful. I have tried on probably 6 to 10 pairs of wide leg jeans and sent them all back. They swamp me. This helps me understand why. Thank you!

We used to wear them with platform boots or clogs and they looked great.
TOTALLY AGREE. Having a little height at your heel helps them to lay really, really well.
I am 65 years old 58 and 200 pounds. I will be getting at least one pair. I can’t wait to find some thanks for all the tips. I’m looking for a budget pair so I’m hoping you have that on your list.
Good luck!
I am 5’11 and l love this trend 😊😊
You do a GREAT job! Thanks for not giving into the critiques! You’re very GOOD!
I appreciate that! You are so kind. Thank you. I love what I do.
Thank you so much for this video! I have a few pairs of wide- leg jeans and I love them. At times though I do feel like I can look a bit frumpy and now I think I understand why thanks to your video! Best pair I ever found was at my op shop.👏

I appreciate that! So, glad you are here.
I tend to crop them all and i think they look fantastic with my black laces boots
Cropped is a great way to wear them!
Thank you! I have bought 4 pairs of wide leg jeans and I was drowning in them! Now I know what to look for when I shop. Looking online using your style page in the next minute....
Happy to help! Hope you find the perfect pair!
LOVE hearing success stories from my petite ladies. Wide-leg jeans are out there for YOU, but you do have to look a little harder.
Which of those styles are your favorite? I’ve been eyeing the Levi’s Ribcage.
Great info. I see the wide leg jeans everywhere, but haven't tried any yet. I think I'll order a few pair and see if I like them on me.
I'll be curious to see what you think!
Thank you! Great video!❤
You are so welcome!
Great suggestions!
Great practical tips for looking good in wide legs! ❤
Glad you liked it!!
This is great information. Thank you
You are so welcome!
Hi Kelly so happy I found your video. I’m looking for the link below to help me with my body type
Welcome. You can find the link inside of the description of the video.
Very helpful!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for commenting!
Very useful! Thanks!😊
Glad it was helpful!
This is so off point, but I love your book shelves and all your great stuff and the way you did your books by color. Great points on jeans. I like almost all the styles , but agree with if your pants are wide legged you can not wear a sloppy baggy top, and if you are petite don’t get a pair that is too baggy. ❤❤❤
Thank you for the compliment on my bookshelves. I'm an avid thrifter and reader. So most of the items are all second-hand.
I tried a pair on the other day and didn't hate them. I didn't care for the fit around my abdomin tho (I'm a 'straight') I shall keep looking for the right ones! 😊
Rise is so important for fit (in all jeans). These run pretty high to begin with, but some are really high and that can throw off fit.
Yes, plus I'm short waisted, so high is very high, lol! @AdoreYourWardrobe
@@lorahiggins7515 Interesting, I'll have to check them out. 😊
This video was really helpful
YEAH! Glad you loved it!
I prefer a boot cut vs wide leg!! Much more flattering: fitted thru hip & thigh, & then slight boot cut!
Adore you!
Thank you for the great tips! However, at 5 ft. tall, I'll be sitting this one out! I still think they are cute though!
I understand! One of our staff members is around the same height and she said the same thing. But she loves her flare jeans. :)
I have very bowed legs so I like these because my legs aren’t noticeable.
Great! Now I need a better paint of wide leg jeans. Maybe I can get mine fitted?
Oh yes! If they fit at your widest point, they can be tailored everywhere else. And most of the alterations are inexpensive.
Hiiiii! I'm new here. LOVE YOUR JACKET, please tell me the brand? EDITOR: THE LINK IS BROKEN to the Body Type Boutique.
First, thank you for letting me know about the broken link. I appreciate that.
The jacket is from Nordstrom. Here is the link --> rstyle.me/+KIG6AJKFUk-EO2n91vEZKA
It runs big, so size down if possible.
@@AdoreYourWardrobe They are too baggy, like two big tree trunks.
These are hard for me to get used to. My body type for normal jeans is hard enough!
How do I order the body calculator?
It's FREE. Here is the link --> bit.ly/AYWCalculator
Leather wide leg pants , pointed toe, should the pants should be close to the heel? To make you look taller,I’m 5’2 ?
If they are a flat, they should follow the recommendations for a flat. If they are a heel, recommendations for a heel.
The key word is “ proportion “ . This applies to most aspects of fashion .
Yep. That's part of the math and science about fashion. There is also color theory, visual interest, visual breaks and more.
Found you today and subscribed! I think I’ve found my math>fashion soul sister.
Welcome aboard! So glad you are here!
I’m 5’2 and love wide legs, my question is-they need hemmed-too long, can I do a one fold up? Or do I pay to have them hemmed
It would depend on you body type. For certain body types, the fold up would create visual interest that would defeat their goal in looking balanced.
If you don't want to pay to have them hemmed, cutting them for a raw edge is an option.
Where’s the body shape link 🤷🏻♂️
It's in the description, but here is a direct link --> bit.ly/AYWCalculator
Be kind, people ❣️
Welcome to UA-cam.
I feel like they will make me look like a dwarf…mainly because I don’t wear heels at all so I’m afraid wide leg jeans with flats may be too much on a short person like me
Give them a shot! You might be surprised. I'd just make sure to pick ones with a smaller hem circumference.
Can they be cuffed?
They can be, but that look doesn't work for most body types. I think it looks better to either professional hem them or cut them off for a raw hem to the correct inseam.
What about when you have a large tummy and need to cover it what tops to wear?
Covering your tummy with larger sized shirts covers more than just your tummy, it covers your shoulders, breasts, torso, arms.
Finding the right rise of jeans so you feel comfortable in them with your tummy and the right-sized and length (and fabric content) top allows even ladies with a tummy to wear jeans with shorter top with confidence.
@AdoreYourWardrobe thank you
The only way I found to make them work for me is NOT to succumb to the trend, LOL! I tried a pair from Old Navy. They did fit but I just didn't like them. I will stick with straight leg jeans.
If you know what you love, that's great! It's always good to try new things ...
I did the same! At first loved the comfort, but as plus sized 5’8” gal, they made me look definitively bigger, so I’ll be donating….
Do you know how to find the cardigan sweater at 7:59 - 8:00. It is a dark color with a lighter color design. Thank-you!
You bet. Here you go --> rstyle.me/+lsSTtT0pr14aury3blaCEw
@@AdoreYourWardrobe Wow. Thank-you.
Do wide leg jeans have to be hemmed? Mine have a raw hem.
They do not. They need to be the right length, but they can have a raw hem.
Four suggestions:
1.) Try barrel-cut jeans, which have a slight outward curve which make.the line more defined.
I think a lot has to do with the rigidity of the denim. I can wear linen palazzo pants in the summer & not look frumpy at 5'2" 170 lbs😉
What about a pointer toes shoes are boots?
Tall skinny ladies can wear these jeans!!
Not true. Shorter and mid-sized can wear them too. You just need to find ones that fit your body and don't overwhelm your frame.
I pretty much get flared or a small bell. That’s as far as I go lol.
I like your tank top v neck can you link it please Thank You
Thank you! It's actually from my Boutique. shop.adoreyourwardrobe.com/
I dont understand how wide-leg jeans are such a fashion trend if it is so tricky to wear them that we need to watch videos about them!
Having said that, your video is very professional and you give some good info 😊
I don't like wide-leg jeans myself but a few months ago, i ordered some boot cut jeans online (which i like, as well as straight cut).
@@lorrainespear1210😂
60, 5’8” and wear wide leg jeans all the time. Balance and proportion matter so I wear heeled clogs and a more fitted top/sweater. Not challenging to style at all
LOVE reading comments like this one! They are possible to wear when you know how to wear them. Keep rocking them!
I’m 67 , are wide legs ok for us or not
Of course you can pick what you want to wear and not every trend is for everyone, but don't let age be the thing that stops you. I have lots of ladies in their 60s and 70s in my community rocking wide-leg jeans.
I’m 62 and defo will be wearing fashionable clothes for ever , go for it wear them if they suit you , no age barrier looking good is looking good at any age 🎉
wide-legged jeans
I know these are the trend and I want to wear and like them. But it’s a struggle for me I am no longer young and skinny and they just don’t look good and I don’t really like them on other women either.
The key is FIT. I tried to layout all of the things to look for in a great fitting pair, but it will take "kissing a few frogs to find the right ones". And remember, FIT doesn't care about the price tag, it's about how they fit on your body.
. i wear a pair of jogging pants underneath so they do well in winter . they do make me look overweight but i do not care .
I have thin legs and would not be caught dead in wide leg pants of any kind. They make me look fat and I stick to clothes that look good on me, rather than fads. 2:46 😢
I’ve been wearing wide leg pants & jeans for decades. Could care less what the trends are
So why are you watching a video about trends 😂
At 5’3”, short waist and extremely curvy hips and bust, these are a hard pass for me. Also, I can;t walk around for any length of time in heels. What bothers me most about trends is that it becomes so difficult to find other styles that flatter.
Luckily, there are lots of other jean styles out there right now that will keep your wardrobe current (flares and bootcuts, specifically). And you don't have to wear heel with any of these, you just need to make sure your pants are hemmed correctly for flats.
Sorry but I can’t find where to work out my body type ?
It's in the description, but here is a direct link --> bit.ly/AYWCalculator
I am a fan of boot leg cut jeans. My thighs are on the small side. Because I am petite I wear them with heeled mules or boots.
Me, too! I’m petite and feel best in bootcut jeans and pants. I can wear any top I want with them. Also, they make me look slimmer.
What good is video with no body types or illustrations..some models along with your advice would help!🙁
This was a video about fit for wide-leg jeans, not body type. I gave lots of visual examples regarding fit.
I wear jeans because I don't have to think about them to much. My patience for fussy things is limited. I don't think this trend will take off.
Wide legged jeans are here to stay. Elegant and sophisticated. Skinny jeans look cheap and vulgar.
Nancy - Not cool. Why be mean? She didn't say she liked skinny jeans and even if she did, saying trigger words like "cheap" and "vulgar" isn't kind. Let's try and be kind, alright?
Unfortunately, the trend started almost three years ago. I'm pretty sure you are going to see them around for at least another year, maybe two.
I’m still wearing my skinny jeans. I don’t care about trends.
I’ll stick with my straight leg jeans…..
I believe this style is making most girls look heavier. Probably because they're not wearing them right. I hope it's a fashion that ends soon
You’re doing a video about feeling frumpy with really skinny models. Please use a little “frumpier” looking models so we can see what really works.
Another way, that would have been constructive and not negative, would have been to say.
Hi Kelly. I like your videos. I'd love for you to show some examples in your future videos of plus-sized gals too so we can see it visually. Thanks!
I am 4' 11'' so I will be ignoring the wide leg trend; just not enough leg length to make it work. A slightly flared leg works better for me.
I'm the same height as you. I have 3 pair of wide leg jeans. I absolutely love them. I wear a fitted tank top or a cropped top to offset the bagginess of the jeans. Maybe you could try that ...
If the wide leg jean is too tight on the top they will come out at the top of the thigh looking like a camel haunch or knee, lol😂
Oh, you mean a straight cut jean.
Nope. Straight jeans are different. They are straight from the knee to hem, but can taper from waist to knee.
They make me look like I am buttless. I am 5’2”” and 110lbs. Not my favorite.
That is why fit is so important. My guess is you've tried pairs with a bigger hem circumference. Try a pair with a smaller one and you might notice a difference.
I just hate them. They make me look short and dumpy and I am thin. I am going to continue with my skinny jeans and knee high boots.
Maybe you didn't watch the whole video? My last point was that not all trends are for everybody. That would line up with your comment if you watched video.
This was the first time I watched you. It would have been better if you actually showed some of the jeans on actual bodies.
That would require me to have five live models in the studio since I teach on body types. That it is outside of realm of finances for the size of my account. But please keep watching my videos so that one day, when I make enough money, I could do that. Maybe, I could hire you?
Wide leg/ bell bottom jeans add visual pounds to your figure. So unless you are tall and thin, suggest a hard pass.
Not true. We have apple ladies (not that you can't be thin and be an apple) wear wide-leg jeans to perfection.
Why would one chase a silly trend ?
Most look really silly attempting to follow the latest nonsense, just wear a sign that says “ I need attention”
Save you lots of money
And YET, you watched the video. Or did you? Because if you did, you would have heard me say, "You don't have to wear them. There are lots of other flattering jeans out there."
I think there are much more important things to think about rather than all this thought put into how your jeans hang. Really.
And yet you clicked on the video and watched. I’m a fashion educator … what did you expect me to talk about?
