My favorite brand is Isaac Mizrahi, pull on stretch jean with stitched front detail down the legs. They are not presently available, but they are SO classy looking, and the most comfortable jeans I’ve ever owned. Good heft to the fabric. So flattering and slimming. I keep looking for them to come back in my size so I can buy more in other shades of blue or black.
I love them and never wore skinny jeans. I was always able to find boot cuts. I have to wear compression stockings, and it is much easier if I have to adjust them. Also so glad high waist is back. Only skinny teens can be comfortable in hip huggers😂
Yes! to both high waisted, straight leg, wide leg jeans. Yes to Woodstock in the 60s. I wore a Levi's men's 27/29 in their 505 style. They still fit. I'm old enough to remember Woodstock, remember. Try men's Levi's. They're mad better than womens-- And don't overthink this jeans look. Denim is for fun, working, anything. And denim is not a trend! They've been loved and worn since the 1800s, thank you Levi Strauss ❤️
@@paulalb-n2f I loved 505 and sewed in fabric from the knee down to make them into bell bottoms. So cool! Good for you that you can still wear those jeans!
I’m 66, 5’4” and 135 pounds. I also have an hourglass figure. I recently bought a pair of wide legged jeans, and love them. I wear them with 2” heeled boots and a fitted, ribbed turtleneck. It makes me look taller and thinner!
I appreciate your video on this because I always felt like I looked frumpy in wide leg jeans sometimes but I learned how to wear them to flatter my body, by my body type. I never feel like i have to wear anything that doesn’t work for me. I do not chase trends. Thank you so much for sharing with us. God bless !!!!
I think that is okay. As I said at the end of the video, these are just a trend, but you aren't "out of style" if you wear other jeans like bootcut or flares. Fashion is about wearing what you LOVE and what looks best on you.
Thank You for this video and especially your last tip. Not all trends work for you. I am a 70+ lady who is 180+ and 5 ft 2. No wide leg Jean is going to make the most or less of my waist or my height. I carry a massive cyst on my abdomen which can’t be removed and I just look like a pregnant Old Lady . I do the best I can with what I have and try to divert the eye to my upper body and feel as good as I can in my clothes. Thanks for this video.
You bet! A trend just means a certain style is more popular, but it is still just a style. There are so many other options for denim that still look modern and current.
YOU are…kinder than I am…! I agree with you regarding this vid; this producer’s giving the reader great , positive information; HOWEVER, after listening to (MORE) advice of “do this; don’t do this”…and, I decided that I DON’T want to hear any more “improve yourself” vid’s..!! (I GUESS I could say “BAH HUMBUG…!” 😐😢😳
LIFE at times throws “challenges” at many of us; YOU have made YOUR health situation manageable…and that, in itself, is a SUCCESS, Ms…(You’ve accepted your health situation, & are making it “manageable.”) (I worked in health sciences, & KNOW that quite a few people did MOT adjust as well as you…THIS makes ME happy…). BLESSINGS TO/for you! 🥰
58, 190, 5'2"....I ADORE wide leg jeans and cords! I hate restrictive clothing! I do hem them just a titch higher so I dont trip AND I look for cropped jeans because I am short and sometimes the cropped length hits just above my cute boots and shoes.
Great tip on looking for cropped jeans when you are shorter. Knowing your inseam is so important! It allows you to make smart decisions regardless of what the "brand" calls it.
I'm 5'4", about 130lb, and own several pairs of wide leg jeans and pants. I actually like a more oversized top/blouse draping material with them, especially because I have a larger chest, and the last thing I need is something that esentuates it. I guess I don't really care if someone thinks I weigh 15lbs, more it's what "I'm" comfortable wearing. 😅
I’m 65 years old. 5’3” 115 lbs. I have kept some jeans..thinking maybe they’d come back in style. Sure enough they have. But, the only jeans I have wide are actually from Old Navy. Very good dark denim..mid rise fits me best, fit in the butt, they have more length so I wear a boot platform, and the toe of the boot you can see, they fall perfectly. This is exactly how we wore them in high school. In graduated in 1977. The other jeans I’ve had for years are Levi’s flare, mid rise. Sit on my hips, not low rise but mid. They fit perfectly in the butt and hips. I’ll wear a graphic tee and a fitted tailored short jacket with them. Or depending on the weather I’ll wear a moto jacket, not the oversized but fit in the shoulders and isn’t boxy. I’ve always said to myself over the years…silhouette is every thing. I probably tried on 30 pairs at least..of the wide legged very high waisted jeans and nothing works. Your video was spot on! Thank you!
I'm 5'2", size 4, hourglass shape, 57 years old and have just recently bought several pairs of flattering wide leg and flare jeans in petite lengths. Gap high rise stride, Old Navy Wow wide leg, Levi's Ribcage wide leg, Gap 70's high rise flare and Levi's 726 high rise flare. I haven't worn my skinny jeans in awhile and finally donated all of them to Goodwill.
@@ceciliarodriguez5615Levi's Ribcage wideleg and bell are solid choices, often on sale at Macy's and Kohl's in regular lengths, run TTS and don't shrink. Old Navy Wow wide leg in the darkest blue wash look way more expensive/chic than their cost, run a tad big, mine shrunk in the dryer but at 18 bucks on sale I'll buy another and hang dry. Love my Gap High Rise 70s in medium indigo, bought a second pair. Gap High Rise Stride in Dark Indigo, runs a tad big, stretches out during the day in the waist (not baggy butt) but is so cute on and doesn't shrink. Levi's 726 flares are super cute, you can even get them at target if you wear regular length. This is the first time in years I've found any jeans I've loved that look more "put together". I have some Levi's Wedgies that are okay but they're way more casual because of the light wash/straight leg. Sorry for the essay 😂
@ccdm515 Believe it or not, I think I like the Old Navy Wow wide leg the best because of the dark washes they come in. I've only found the Levi's Ribcage in medium wash, suoer cute but more casual looking. I love the Gap High Rise Stride in Dark Indigo when I first put them on but they stretch out in the waist after a few hours.
Great Tips, TY. As a plus size 5'4 woman, initially I welcomed wide-leg jeans and pants bc they skimmed my thighs. But as the wide-leg trend grew so did the leg circumference. Most online clothes sites only usually private pant length and inseam - but never hem circumference. Also, too wide jeans and pants can be awkward to walk in. And walking up a flight of stairs -- I'd compare it to attempting the same in a prom gown. I disagree w/ your statement that wide-leg jeans are straight from crouch to hem. I've seen wide-leg jeans that fan out. As paying shipping to retrn items that don't fit, I'm now very particular when I buy pants . I've gotten pretty good at estimating what's a 20" vs 32" inch leg circumference. I look for petite or crop versions which don't require hemming. And I'm even shifting back to true straight leg jeans and pants. As you advised, I find they fit my shape and my style better.
I did not say that wide-leg are straight from crotch to hem. I said they are straight from waist to hem. And they are - that is their definition. (Feel free to google it.) They should not bell out. If they bell out, more than likely they are a flare that is pretending to be a wide-leg jean.
This was very helpful. I have tried on probably 6 to 10 pairs of wide leg jeans and sent them all back. They swamp me. This helps me understand why. Thank you!
They aren't easy to wear, for sure. They are always going to have visual weight because of their structure and style, but hopefully these tips will help mitigate some of that.
I agree. I have tried so many on and never have bought them. I'm tall and they make me look huge. My favorite jeans are long, skinny kick. I am passing on this trend. Love this video. I will quit trying. It's OK 😊
I am 5'8" tall and loved wider leg pants in the early 70s. Now, although I am not as slim as I was then, I think I still wear them well. For me it has always been key to not have super wide legs and to wear fitted jackets that are shorter than the top of thigh. If a break between bottom of jacket and the top of thighs cannot be seen, the body just seems to be this wide straight look that has no curve to it. I just got two pair of wider leg cords (about 20") and absolutely love the comfort and look of them. I wear maryjane oxford type shoes with about a 1" heel in a dark brown or black.
Helpful video! Thank you! I don't have a great waist but I have fabulous legs, slim thighs. I am mourning the end of skinny jeans but switched to bootcut. I. look. terrible. in wide leg pants but will go with the ratio of 1-2 inches wider than thighs to see if that gets me in a pair. Wish me luck!
Thank you!!! I don’t buy wide legged jeans (overwhelming for my 5’4” height) but this will help me style the more straight legged ones I have, that I always feel frumpy in.
I still find all that fabric around my calves and ankles distracting and trip inducing. Since I can no longer wear high heels or platform boots, all that unnecessary material just becomes a tripping hazard, especially walking up stairs. Not to mention how I FEEL, which is like the Michelin man! No matter how tight and uncomfortable the wide leg jeans are in the waist and butt, they still make me feel fat with all that voluminous flappy material.
I’ve not found a wide leg jean for my apple shape. If they fit in the waist, they are baggy in the butt. What I am in love with is the Clara SunWoo wide leg pants with pockets. They fit my butt and my waist at the same time bc they are a knit fabric. Very high quality material, just thick enough to smooth out the imperfections and not be too heavy. Dress them up or dress them down and the perfect alternative to jeans.
Thank you! I have bought 4 pairs of wide leg jeans and I was drowning in them! Now I know what to look for when I shop. Looking online using your style page in the next minute....
First video I have watched of yours -- subscribed! I recently got my first pair of wide-leg jeans from Boston Proper. LOVE them. I had been unable to find anything that was somewhat affordable and looked good on my 57-year-old self. I don't do heels anymore but find they work just fine with flat comfortable shoes. Thanks for the content!
I just bought a pair of wide legged jeans. 62 yo 53 123 lbs. I love love love my skinny legged jeans now that I actually found some that touch my skinny legs…lol. But thought I’d try the wide leg again. I’m a turtleneck sweater junkie in the winter. I figure the fit of the sweater will pair well with the wide legged jeans. I’ll have to sift thru the shoe collection to see what will work with them.
I am 65 years old 58 and 200 pounds. I will be getting at least one pair. I can’t wait to find some thanks for all the tips. I’m looking for a budget pair so I’m hoping you have that on your list.
Well, I appreciate your advice, and I’ve tried several pairs. Inevitably, I feel sloppy and clownish. So I’ve settled on straight leg or slight flare styles. Hoping styles go back to normal soon!
Good for you for trying a trend and then deciding it isn't for you. Knowing what looks best on you is key, but trying new things to keep your wardrobe modern is important too.
I tried a pair. I am 5 foot eight. My slim hips and legs are attractive features. They made my hips and legs look wide; they looked ridiculous and I returned them.
Good for you for trying something new. Like I said on the video, if they aren't for you, that's okay. Not every trend needs to be for everyone, but not trying them at all isn't good either. We should always explore the new trends in fashion and see what works and doesn't work for us.
Thank you so much for this video! I have a few pairs of wide- leg jeans and I love them. At times though I do feel like I can look a bit frumpy and now I think I understand why thanks to your video! I will definitely be trying some of your tips to balance my look! Comment: I would have loved at the end of your video for you to have showed lots of these tips in outfits as a visual for those of us who need it lol.
This is an interesting perspective. I am 5 feet nothing and approx 130 lbs (and 81 yrs old). The most flattering and slimming jeans I have are “wide” leg jeans. I have a pair of straight leg jeans with boot cut hem. They look really good, but the wide leg are really my most flattering. Yes, they fit very well and are pretty much straight to the ankle (just fuller than straight leg jeans). No puddling at the hem. They are not too wide so they really do look great. Better than any other style for me. No crop look for me. Comfy pointed toe flat shoes are flattering for every day wear but difficult to find in walking shoes.
If you have straight hips too it’s helpful to not go to wide on the hem circumference; and maybe go with a wider bootcut instead. I feel limited with my body type, I really only look the best in boot cuts.
Being 5'6'' and 119lbs with rather small (but far apart) measurements, I prefer wide-leg jeans that are more fitted around the waist and hip area and then fall loose below the hips. Also need full length, like touching the back of my foot, other than that they are gonna look weird on me. Learned that by trying on different fits. It's kind of hard to find a pair that actually FITS around waist AND hip line though, because in my case they are 11 inches apart in measurements and those wide-leg jeans often times have no to barely any stretch to them. I also like pairing them with more structured shoes and tops to balance the relaxed look of the jeans. Also using a blend of denim that's made of cotton and viscose can help because it is a more lightweight and flowy fabric than pure denim. For some people that might be a great option. Which style, material blend and fit works for whom highly depends on a person's built and the way they move, I think. I also do think that wide-leg tailored pants are a bit easier to wear comfortably and also easier to style, it might also be easier to find one that actually fits and feels nicely. But that's probably just my personal preference. I wear lightweight wide-leg, high waisted, tailored pants a lot during summer. I never struggled to find some that actually fit me nicely but it took me over a year to find a pair of wide-leg jeans that does fit me well AND I can still move freely in. I still prefer skinny jeans because to me they are not only easier to style and combine, they also feel way more comfortable (due to the higher amount of elastane of course) but that's also - definitely - personal preference. I get that some people don't feel too great in skinny jeans, I for sure love them though.
Exactly agree with you on the skinnies! I still wear them. They are comfortable and no excess fabric to feel uncomfortable dragging around! I have ventured into bootcut and flares & like them when I want to get a little more “dressed up” to go out!
I had these jeans back in 1975 and saved them for decades. By then they didn't fit anymore but my teenaged daughter loved them. I remember wearing them with a halter top and platform sandals in the summer. Weren't they called "elephant leg" jeans?
4 foot 11 inch and wide leg jeans are too out of proportion for my small frame. Some trends are not meant for petite. ( no, wearing tall heel shoes is falling down scary for a 67 year old petite)
Have you tried the petite sizing? Or the cropped sizing? Of course, if they aren't for you, that's okay. But your height shouldn't be the issue. Lots of brands have shorter inseams.
wow Im 63 and started to wear heels again. I feel it is the only way to look good in slacks and jeans as well as the wide leg. I also bought booty underware. love it. you go.
I have several brands of wide-leg jeans. I find them MUCH easier to style/wear than skinny jeans. I have a longer torso/shorter legs. I find wide-leg jeans more flattering than other styles because of the uniform width. I think the more consistent width gives my body a more balanced appearance.
I am just transitioning from my skinny jeans into straight leg jeans. I luckily found a pair that fits like a glove. Are straight leg heans in style now, or nobody wears them?
So, style is different than trends. Styles are specific (wide-leg, straight, flare, bootcut, skinny, etc.) and "styles" are always around and they get worn all the time. Trends are when a style (like wide-leg) becomes popular. This means there are more options in the store and you see people wearing them more often. When people say "out of style" (I really hate that word combination, but it is what is used) it should mean a specific outfit formula with specific trends. So, think the early 2000s with skinny jeans, oversized tunic, vest, fashion boots, and an infinity scarf. That overall "look" is dated. But take the same skinny jeans and add an updated blazer, fitted blouse, and mary jane flat with gold or silver chain accessories and that look feels current. So, to answer your question. Lots of people wear straight jeans, but to look current, they will need to add a few things to their outfit that look on trend. It's why I tell people not to chase trends, but to chase style. Hope this helps.
@@AdoreYourWardrobe This answer would make a great video, especially the part about looking dated. It's hard to notice that trends have moved on when you're in your mid-60s, like me. Thanks for showing CROPPED jeans. I've only worn them (gray-black ) out of the house once! Which is better, tan delicate flats or tan wedge sandals, or white Keds? Or other?
I'm 4'10" and 74 years old - back in the 60's, we called these bell bottoms which are actually a boot cut jean. There are jeans that have the shape of a stove pipe which are shapeless. I have two pair of boot cut and love them, but also still wear skinny jeans that do not make me look 3'10". Good tips, though. Thanks Linda H
This is so off point, but I love your book shelves and all your great stuff and the way you did your books by color. Great points on jeans. I like almost all the styles , but agree with if your pants are wide legged you can not wear a sloppy baggy top, and if you are petite don’t get a pair that is too baggy. ❤❤❤
Covering your tummy with larger sized shirts covers more than just your tummy, it covers your shoulders, breasts, torso, arms. Finding the right rise of jeans so you feel comfortable in them with your tummy and the right-sized and length (and fabric content) top allows even ladies with a tummy to wear jeans with shorter top with confidence.
They can be, but that look doesn't work for most body types. I think it looks better to either professional hem them or cut them off for a raw hem to the correct inseam.
I tried a pair on the other day and didn't hate them. I didn't care for the fit around my abdomin tho (I'm a 'straight') I shall keep looking for the right ones! 😊
Try the Women with Control petite pull on flare leg cut from QVC. They are made in China but the fit is perfect and slimming . I bought the medium blue and the black. Wash in cold water before wearing.
I’m a straight rectangle with a short waist. I love the Spanx flare pull on jeans. I’m 5ft 4 in. I buy them on line. The are narrower in the thighs so they don’t overwhelm me.
I think in general wide leg jeans are not for apple shape curvy ladies. I had one pair altered to slim down the legs. I then discovered that the ankle flare pull on jeans were perfect for me. Bought 2 pair and the fit was perfect. Women with Countrol. I'm only 5'2" and 157 pounds so need jeans that are slimming. Sometimerimes referred to as boot cut. Slim torso and flare doesn't start until comes to ankle. Who wants their legs to appear wider? Only the tall thin models.
Yes, I talked about how Wide-Leg Jeans are going to more voluminous compared to flares or bootcuts due to their construction. But, I don't think they are only for "tall, thin models" - we have several ladies in our community who are rocking them, but they have found ones that fit perfectly for them.
I liked the video. I fit in with many others here. I’m 70 and looked good at 150, but meds increased weight 15 pounds in my belly! I’m struggling to cover/ distract…
While I know many people feel the solution is to "cover" a trouble spot - it's never a great idea. When you "cover" a spot, you cover other areas and gain visual weight (and make yourself look even heavier). The way our bodies fit in clothes changes over time (our body type doesn't, but fit does). It's better to buy well-fitting clothes (regardless of your size), then just buy oversized clothes to cover up.
My niece had my mom call my husband to beg him to give her his very old Carhart work jeans. He wears a 36 32 and we couldn’t figure out why she would want some of his old logging jeans. She put a belt on and since she is 5’11 it actually looked good but they were definitely shredded and faded.
DYING! My husband owns a construction company and my son and daughter want his old work pants too. The more beat up, the better. Thanks for commenting! Loved hearing this story.
First, thank you for letting me know about the broken link. I appreciate that. The jacket is from Nordstrom. Here is the link --> rstyle.me/+KIG6AJKFUk-EO2n91vEZKA It runs big, so size down if possible.
Love my wide leg jeans! Have 6 pairs in different colors! Mine are not too big at the bottom. I wear a 2-3” bootie with them normally. I hate the cropped look. It looks like floods to me. I just can’t justify paying $100’s on jeans. Got mine on Amazon for $47.
I have a comfy pair of wide leg jeans that I strictly wear around the house. I think of them like sweat pants or lounge pants. I don't care how they are styled! 🤣
No baggy butt 😂 I love my MadeWell wide leg jeans. I have several styles, and now, because of your video, I can style them and not just wear them. Thank you!!
I’ve never worn them. I like the look of them on other women, but I’m only 5, 3” and about 119 pounds. I think I look like a potted plant when I’ve tried them on. I have to go for a tapered leg because I just don’t think I look good in them. Now I suppose if I could wear heels, it might improve the appearance, but I don’t care for heels. I don’t have practice walking in them because I never had a job that required me to wear them so then we’re onto another issue with the shoes lol 🤷♀️ I’ve also noticed that high waisted jeans have come back in and they are a problem for me too because I have a short torso. I just feel like the waistband is right underneath my breasts and there’s nothing in between so thank God all of my mid and low rise jeans are still in good shape because you can’t find them anywhere today!
I've tried to find that perfect wide legged jean, and haven't found one that is not super wide looking on my leg. Do you know which jean brand shave smaller diameter wide leg jeans?
I have a list of the brands/styles that have worked best for our community. But you'll need to try them on and compare them to your frame. Remember to use the tip about your thigh circumference compared to the hem circumference. --> www.shopltk.com/explore/adoreyourwardrobe/posts/1ceb33ff-9257-11ef-a064-0242ac11001e
It would depend on you body type. For certain body types, the fold up would create visual interest that would defeat their goal in looking balanced. If you don't want to pay to have them hemmed, cutting them for a raw edge is an option.
I am 48, long legs, but not tall, 5'4, size 00....its hard enough finding jeans in 00, as 0's are too big. I dont have many options, plus, many of them are just a little too short, so they arent as flattering...sometimes i look like, i have no shape, and im drowning in them, or if i wear healswith wide leg, my legs look too long. Skinny jeans fit my body the best and i can wear any shoe... theyll come back at some point. In a couple of years, they will tell us nobody looks good in wide leg jean😂
I recently turn 70 and I have always loved wide leg jeans and still do love them with a kitten heel pointed toe shoe or bootie I feel classy and put together the pant are also cute with a top that hits right at the top of the jeans something like a little swing in the top so if you have a little pug in the stomach you don’t have to tuck in this type of blouse
I LOVE my wide leg jeans. They're so comfortable! I got mine from JCP, the St. John's Bay brand. They're very affordable and well-made. The only problem I have had is that the mediums are just a little shorter than I like, and the tall are too long, and also wider. What I did was to hem the two pairs of tall that I bought, and I took out the hem of the mediums and used fabric glue to "hem" them so they're as long as possible. Now they're just right. I love the way they fit in my waist, hips and butt.
That’s so smart! And I love that you "hacked" a way to make them perfect for you. I wish more women did this. Life is too short for ill-fitting clothes. Great job! Thanks for the comment.
Welcome to UA-cam. I never understand why people just don't scroll by if they don't like me, what I wear, my body, the way I talk, how often I use my hands, the way I organize my business (yes, this is a business because of the cost it takes to produce a video - people would be shocked). Not all opinions need to be expressed, especially when you skip right on by.
While flares and wide-legs have similar "things" that make them fit great, they aren't the same jean. Flares fit in the thigh and the flare out at the knee. Wide-legs are straight from the hip. They are different.
I’m petite 5’2”, I’m terrified of wide leg jeans. I feel like they will make me look like a garden dwarf…mainly because I don’t wear heels at all so I’m afraid wide leg jeans with flats may be too much on a short person like me
I'm 5'2 with a petite frame and love wide leg jeans. For me, it depends on the denim "stiffness". If the denim is thick and stiff they'll overwhelm your frame. I've tried a few on that made me laugh out loud at how bad they looked. Gap, Levi's and Old Navy all have versions that the fabric flows well so you don't look cartoonish.
What? At my age I PREFER wearing what I'm comfortable in! Done w/dressing up for work or "fancy" occasions! Not looking to win fashion or beauty contest just comfort before I die! Thank you for your opinions but EVERYONE WEAR WHAT YOU WANT!!! THANK YOU! 😎🩷✌️🤘
I bought high-waisted wide leg jeans from the Gap … they’re FABULOUS!
Those gap jeans are ones we recommend. They've worked for so many ladies!
I love them. They remind me of an earlier time in my life. I also LOVE a high-waisted pant. SO glad they’re back in my closet.
I hear you, I rocked wide leg jeans in the late 70’s. 😊
They're mad better than womens--
And don't overthink this jeans look.
I can't do skinny jeans. I have HIPS! Skinny jeans are for Mrs. Salty body types!
I’m 66, 5’4” and 135 pounds. I also have an hourglass figure. I recently bought a pair of wide legged jeans, and love them. I wear them with 2” heeled boots and a fitted, ribbed turtleneck. It makes me look taller and thinner!
Yes! I can totally see that being a flattering cut for you. It works for me at 5 feet and 130 lbs (holiday weight 😂) and age 81.
You are so welcome!
Exactly my thought - body type is the key to dresse well, not the trend.
You said math and science and hooked me in. Yes, this is my first video of yours! Loved your intro.
Awesome! Glad you are here.
I have purchased 3 pairs of wide-legged jeans, but really prefer my bootcut jeans.
I think that is okay. As I said at the end of the video, these are just a trend, but you aren't "out of style" if you wear other jeans like bootcut or flares. Fashion is about wearing what you LOVE and what looks best on you.
I love the comfort and fit for my pear shape. For looks I find stiffer fabric which holds it's shape loook better than softer saggier fabric.
Agreed, all my jeans are a stiffer denim
Agree!!
I love wide-leg jeans and this video is so helpful in how to wear them.
I'm so glad it was helpful! Thanks for commenting!
I did buy a wide leg Jean and besides being too long, I love the fit! I'm in the process of hemming them. Thanks for the tips!
YEAH! I'm so happy to hear that!
dianachristie, I just recently discovered fabric glue, and it makes "hemming" so easy! I got Aleene's Fabric Fusion.
I love that you say that you don’t have to wear a trend. Wear what works for you.

I hate wide leg jeans, I look like a hobbit in them.
I am 5’2”, 180 lbs. And love my wide leg jeans. They seem to make me look slimmer And I get compliments
This is me also. The larger chest is a curse…and an asset. A button down white shirt with the wide leg jean is my fav.
LOVE hearing success stories from my petite ladies. Wide-leg jeans are out there for YOU, but you do have to look a little harder.
Which of those styles are your favorite? I’ve been eyeing the Levi’s Ribcage.
Would also like the favorite
I am with you on the fitted jacket that is shorter than the thigh. It really makes a difference!
GOOD LUCK! And remember, even if they don't work, it's okay. I'm so happy you are trying the trend. Sometimes that is the most important thing.
Thank you!!! I don’t buy wide legged jeans (overwhelming for my 5’4” height) but this will help me style the more straight legged ones I have, that I always feel frumpy in.
Awesome! Glad these tips helped.
You do a GREAT job! Thanks for not giving into the critiques! You’re very GOOD!
I appreciate that! You are so kind. Thank you. I love what I do.
Always loved my wide legs since the 90s. I love vintage jeans period. Lots of wide leg options.
Vintage is the best! You can't go wrong with classic wide-legs.
My first time watching you. I appreciate your practical approach.
I appreciate that! So, glad you are here.
I am 5’11 and l love this trend 😊😊
Great info. I see the wide leg jeans everywhere, but haven't tried any yet. I think I'll order a few pair and see if I like them on me.
I'll be curious to see what you think!
i wear for my body not for strange eyed designers who don't like women! Personally I've been a sailor leg pants since the 60s! Thank you! ❤
I tend to crop them all and i think they look fantastic with my black laces boots
Cropped is a great way to wear them!
What is the brand of jeans at 5:30? I don't see them in the list
Thank you! I have bought 4 pairs of wide leg jeans and I was drowning in them! Now I know what to look for when I shop. Looking online using your style page in the next minute....
Happy to help! Hope you find the perfect pair!
62, 5’7” and 126lbs love the wide leg jeans/trousers , I also like them long as anything half mast look like I’ve shrunk them 😄
How do you stay so small? I'm 63 5'7" and weigh 170lbs
Same!
Best pair I ever found was at my op shop.👏
First video I have watched of yours -- subscribed! I recently got my first pair of wide-leg jeans from Boston Proper. LOVE them. I had been unable to find anything that was somewhat affordable and looked good on my 57-year-old self. I don't do heels anymore but find they work just fine with flat comfortable shoes. Thanks for the content!
Welcome to the channel! And I'm so happy to hear about your new pair of jeans.
We used to wear them with platform boots or clogs and they looked great.
TOTALLY AGREE. Having a little height at your heel helps them to lay really, really well.
Merry Christmas Kelly ❤
Thank you for linking some pairs. Some of those I have seen have huge legs.
No problem!! Happy to help.
I am 65 years old 58 and 200 pounds. I will be getting at least one pair. I can’t wait to find some thanks for all the tips. I’m looking for a budget pair so I’m hoping you have that on your list.
Good luck!
I prefer a boot cut vs wide leg!! Much more flattering: fitted thru hip & thigh, & then slight boot cut!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the feedback.
I was hoping for that too. First time viewer. I used to sub to Buzbee Style but her outfit suggestions became too high priced.
I tried them and made me look big. 😮
If you have straight hips too it’s helpful to not go to wide on the hem circumference; and maybe go with a wider bootcut instead. I feel limited with my body type, I really only look the best in boot cuts.
If you have lymphedema these “wide leg” jeans are super helpful.
Good to know! Thanks for the tip.
Thank you! Great video!❤
You are so welcome!
Hi Kelly so happy I found your video. I’m looking for the link below to help me with my body type
Welcome. You can find the link inside of the description of the video.
Great practical tips for looking good in wide legs! ❤
Glad you liked it!!
This video was really helpful
YEAH! Glad you loved it!
Great! Now I need a better paint of wide leg jeans. Maybe I can get mine fitted?
Oh yes! If they fit at your widest point, they can be tailored everywhere else. And most of the alterations are inexpensive.
I love trouser jeans. More fitted. ❤❤
Trouser jeans and wide-leg jeans are the same thing by definition.
They are very comfortable and bigger on the bottom half!!
This is great information. Thank you
You are so welcome!
I had these jeans back in 1975 and saved them for decades. By then they didn't fit anymore but my teenaged daughter loved them. I remember wearing them with a halter top and platform sandals in the summer. Weren't they called "elephant leg" jeans?
Very useful! Thanks!😊
Glad it was helpful!
Great suggestions!
Very helpful!

Do you know how to find the cardigan sweater at 7:59 - 8:00. It is a dark color with a lighter color design. Thank-you!
You bet. Here you go --> rstyle.me/+lsSTtT0pr14aury3blaCEw
@@AdoreYourWardrobe Wow. Thank-you.
@@AdoreYourWardrobe They are too baggy, like two big tree trunks.
These are hard for me to get used to. My body type for normal jeans is hard enough!
wow Im 63 and started to wear heels again. I feel it is the only way to look good in slacks and jeans as well as the wide leg. I also bought booty underware. love it.
you go.
@@elizabethharalson7903I think it depends on the brand and cut. My most flattering jeans, at 5 feet short, are wide leg. Just not too wide.
I have several brands of wide-leg jeans. I find them MUCH easier to style/wear than skinny jeans. I have a longer torso/shorter legs. I find wide-leg jeans more flattering than other styles because of the uniform width. I think the more consistent width gives my body a more balanced appearance.
How do I order the body calculator?
It's FREE. Here is the link --> bit.ly/AYWCalculator
Thanks

This is so off point, but I love your book shelves and all your great stuff and the way you did your books by color. Great points on jeans. I like almost all the styles , but agree with if your pants are wide legged you can not wear a sloppy baggy top, and if you are petite don’t get a pair that is too baggy. ❤❤❤
Thank you for the compliment on my bookshelves. I'm an avid thrifter and reader. So most of the items are all second-hand.
What about when you have a large tummy and need to cover it what tops to wear?
Covering your tummy with larger sized shirts covers more than just your tummy, it covers your shoulders, breasts, torso, arms.
Finding the right rise of jeans so you feel comfortable in them with your tummy and the right-sized and length (and fabric content) top allows even ladies with a tummy to wear jeans with shorter top with confidence.
@AdoreYourWardrobe thank you
Can they be cuffed?
They can be, but that look doesn't work for most body types. I think it looks better to either professional hem them or cut them off for a raw hem to the correct inseam.
I tried a pair on the other day and didn't hate them. I didn't care for the fit around my abdomin tho (I'm a 'straight') I shall keep looking for the right ones! 😊
Rise is so important for fit (in all jeans). These run pretty high to begin with, but some are really high and that can throw off fit.
Yes, plus I'm short waisted, so high is very high, lol! @AdoreYourWardrobe
@@lorahiggins7515 Interesting, I'll have to check them out. 😊
Adore you!

What about a pointer toes shoes are boots?
Hiiiii! I'm new here. LOVE YOUR JACKET, please tell me the brand? EDITOR: THE LINK IS BROKEN to the Body Type Boutique.
First, thank you for letting me know about the broken link. I appreciate that.
The jacket is from Nordstrom. Here is the link --> rstyle.me/+KIG6AJKFUk-EO2n91vEZKA
It runs big, so size down if possible.
It sounds like you've found a style that works for you and that's what matters most!
Where’s the body shape link 🤷🏻♂️
It's in the description, but here is a direct link --> bit.ly/AYWCalculator
I have a comfy pair of wide leg jeans that I strictly wear around the house. I think of them like sweat pants or lounge pants. I don't care how they are styled! 🤣
Leather wide leg pants , pointed toe, should the pants should be close to the heel? To make you look taller,I’m 5’2 ?
If they are a flat, they should follow the recommendations for a flat. If they are a heel, recommendations for a heel.
No baggy butt 😂
I love my MadeWell wide leg jeans. I have several styles, and now, because of your video, I can style them and not just wear them.
Thank you!!
This makes me so happy! Love you found some you love.
Which MadeWell jeans didn’t give you the baggy butt?
Hi from Holland
Hi from Kansas! So glad you are here.
Thank you for the great tips! However, at 5 ft. tall, I'll be sitting this one out! I still think they are cute though!
I understand! One of our staff members is around the same height and she said the same thing. But she loves her flare jeans. :)
You can totally wear wide leg jeans!
Found you today and subscribed! I think I’ve found my math>fashion soul sister.
Welcome aboard! So glad you are here!
Geez, this is my first time to watch your channel, and it’s making me regret the two pairs of wide-leg jeans that I purchased a couple of weeks ago. 😕
I’m 5’2 and love wide legs, my question is-they need hemmed-too long, can I do a one fold up? Or do I pay to have them hemmed
Do wide leg jeans have to be hemmed? Mine have a raw hem.
They do not. They need to be the right length, but they can have a raw hem.
The key word is “ proportion “ . This applies to most aspects of fashion .
Yep. That's part of the math and science about fashion. There is also color theory, visual interest, visual breaks and more.
Be kind, people ❣️
Welcome to UA-cam.
You are describing flare jeans as the best fit, not wide leg. I agree with you.
While flares and wide-legs have similar "things" that make them fit great, they aren't the same jean. Flares fit in the thigh and the flare out at the knee. Wide-legs are straight from the hip. They are different.
I’m petite 5’2”, I’m terrified of wide leg jeans. I feel like they will make me look like a garden dwarf…mainly because I don’t wear heels at all so I’m afraid wide leg jeans with flats may be too much on a short person like me
Give them a shot! You might be surprised. I'd just make sure to pick ones with a smaller hem circumference.
I hate cropped pants! I have short legs to begin with, and cropped pants just look like I’m a kid wearing pants I’ve outgrown.
What? At my age I PREFER wearing what I'm comfortable in! Done w/dressing up for work or "fancy" occasions! Not looking to win fashion or beauty contest just comfort before I die! Thank you for your opinions but EVERYONE WEAR WHAT YOU WANT!!! THANK YOU! 😎🩷✌️🤘
