This is exactly. Where I am starting. Got a weekender today and already scoping my next watch. Budget watches. Seiko most likely. Then a dive. My $650 Samsung Watch ultra is staying on the desk today. I'm a woman with a 6" wrist and thought I liked huge heavy watches but this Weekender feels awesome. Its also a strap monster and i have a few from my previous 20mm lug smartwatch so it will be fun.
This is crazy, because THAT was my gateway watch as well. Of course, I've had watches before that, but that was because it was a military utility. My first serious step into watches was the Weekdender.
I think that I have done a full circle with the watch collecting over the years and have ended up back at the start, wearing a Timex weekender, I wish that someone could have told me this 30 years ago, I could have saved myself a lot of money.
Crazy, the Weekender was my gateway watch as well, also with white dial. Love the design, love the incredibly clear arabics. Loved indiglo, especially on a white dial. Timex comes with some pretty decent straps as well. The weekender 40 also has arabic minute markers, and was one of the fastest analog watches I could read. Sadly, it was the noisiest watch I've ever had, and it started to get to me. People in the room with me would comment on it, and I sold it after I had moved on to some higher build quality items. Miss the weekender and I'd re-buy it if Timex ever upgrades their movements.
There was one reason and one reason only as why I got another watch after my Timex, whose styling I still prefer more than any other watch to this day, the ticking...which should really be aptly described as miniature nuclear explosions hatt take place evrerry second when you are in quiet room.
I started 6 months ago and my first was a fashion watch. Although I know it was overpriced i still like the astetics. Ive now orderd my first dive watch- the orient ray II (black dial) which im really excited about!! And im thinking about buying a Timex weekender just as a casual watch with a Verity of strap options.
I’ve an old one that’s black with an old brown leather strap, bought it in New York in 2015, still needs a battery and still works fine, same sized 38mm case - regards 🍺.
Looks like a simple traditional military watch. I have one as well as a few others. Kind of like the old school traditional looks as oppose to the plastic look.
I just bought this watch and only just found out hour touchy people are these days cause every review I see or read says omg the watch it so loud I can hear it in a quiet room and I don’t hear it at all I have no idea what these reviewers are saying so like the quietest thing in the world
That's it. It's a great little watch. It took me a long time to take it off the bracelet. I tried several options but finally landed on a croc grained leather strap. As my first automatic, it's got a special place in my collection.

It's all about the journey, not the destination. lol

Same. Wall clocks are quieter

Can't go wrong with an Orient diver. I recently picked up a Mako XL and love it.
@@watchingsrq9021 where would u recommend buying the Timex weekender?
I picked mine up on Amazon but have seen them in local stores.
I also started with a Timex, Seiko 5, and now a Hamilton King Khaki. Would like to own a seamaster one day.
Nice! All fine choices. I'm trying to save for my first major luxury watch early next year. One of the contenders is the Omega Aqua Terra.

Is it possible to remove the watch strap spring pins so to fit a two-piece leather strap ? Or are they fixed. I don't see any holes.
that is a handsome watch
Which is the reference number of that first Seiko 5?
SNK355. Great watch. It's super versatile with straps.
Shame the case isn’t stainless steel. I clipped mine on some walls by accident and left some scratches. Was really bummed about it. Haha
Keep wearing it. After a while, damage transitions into character. ;)
@@watchingsrq9021 but the color of the brass of the weekender is like a bronze case
Nice Video 👍
What do the numbers on the dial mean? besides the 1-12, theres other numbers 13-24
It’s a 24 hour clock (military time)
Just for the pm hours of the day

I don't recall ever hearing mine without actively trying by holding it to my ear.
@@cameraman1378 exactly i was expecting it to sound like a wall clock the way people were complaining about it
Is there a similar model without the noise?
Remove the battery
The chronograph version doesn't tick as loud
That ticking sounds loud.
How much?
Timex Weekenders start around $25. My collecting habit? Let's not talk about it. 🤣
does this watch look good with other colored natos? if so what do you recommend?
Yes, it looks great with pretty much any NATO that strikes your fancy. I've worn it on orange, bright blue, vintage Bond and several others.
Watching SRQ awesome thanks. Just wasn’t sure because of the cream face. I’ll have to buy some natos for mine
Looks like snk355 which I own.

If you put a leather strap.. It looks like a 200$ watch
Good thought. I'll have to give it a try.
Nice monster...
It's sweet for sure.
It’s a unicorn 🦄
What the hell is EDC world?
