- In today's video I'm going to go over why I think Pokémon Crystal version on the Gameboy Color was AWESOME. It improved on its generation 2 predecessor games Gold and Silver as well as pushed the technology boundaries. You may learn some cool things you never knew about either!

Go to 3 then 4, but whatever else you do stop right there...
32 years old. Still love this game.
Whoa there young buck. I just turned 33 so I have a large lead on you but I'm glad we can enjoy things generationally.
lol thank you for watching and commenting man I appreciate you.
Fellow 33 year old currently on his millionth Crystal playthrough lol
Fellow 33 year old here as well lol
Im 31 and this is my favorite pokemon game ever. I play it form time to time if im not busy
This makes me feel so much better at 30😂. Salute to all of you
The part about Crystal's animated sprites being mindblowing in 2001 reminds me of playing Zelda Oracle on the Gameboy and finally getting my hands on Ocarina of Time. Holy shit dude. Cheers.
Yeah that would have been insane. I played OoT for the first time and I remember my aunt saying "graphics will never get better than this, how could they?" lol.
Over all another 10/10 video to watch while I eat my lunch.
Why is this a meme now
Having just played pokemon Blue for the first time, it’s surprising how much more polished Crystal feels now that I’m playing it for the first time
Wow so you went all the way back huh??? My work friend played yellow for the first time last year as his FIRST ever pokemon game and he loved it. I made a video explaining that those games can still be played and enjoyed today and you guys are proof.
And yeah can you believe that they feel this polished when they had almost no development time and hardware limitations? I'm always going to be impressed no matter how much time passes.
Thank you for watching and commenting. Hopefully I didn't spoil crystal for you.
@ I bought them on my 3ds when the eshop closed and just got around to playing them now. I was definitely surprised at the inclusion of battle animations and they look really good. Great video!
You really should try „Crystal Legacy“. ❤
So lucky you get to play this game for the first time.
What was the first pokemon game you played? I get you tried blue for the first time, but which game introduced you to the world?
Blue was my first pokemon game ever, back when it was brand new. And I’m a lifelong modder/cheatcode-user, so even the lore and and rumors about Mew and Missingno. were things I actually got to experience and the rumors didn’t really affect me as much as a kid.
So it’d be super cool to hear more about other experiences like yours
Pokémon Crystal is still my favorite Pokémon game to date. Generation 2 in general has the best vibe out of the series. While some aspects of the game are lacking, I can overlook past those flaws for how ambitious they were. They did so much with the hardware limitations of the gameboy. Playing it was mind blowing for the first time.
The remakes of HGSS really shows how good these games could really be with all of the additional content finally added in and expanded on.
Yeah for sure. This wasnt just a simple addition of a few sprites or something. I focused on the additions specifically to showcase they didnt pull any punches with it.
Thank you for watching and commenting, I appreciate you.
Absolutely agree. Idk if it is nostalgia or an objective take.
GF biggest mistake will ever be going from sprites to 3d models.
I love Pokemon Silver. My first pokemon game growing up. I remember beating the game with each starter and resetting it. There was a glitch in the game where it would tell you saving dont turn the game. You would turn it off and you would have a pokemon that you were depositing in the pc and in your party. You would even be able to clone items the pokemon was holding (Rare Candy, stat items, etc) very fun game.
Back when covid hit I started a new save on crystal. Ended up dumping over a hundred hours into it. Legit the best Pokémon game
100 hours??? I can't even say I do that lol. But thats awesome. I'm glad it can bring that much enjoyment even today.
Thank you for watching and commeting.
I've certainly clocked more hours in Crystal than any other Pokemon game.
For me, it's just the game that did everything right, I love it.
Did you know the Ruins of Alph are modeled after a real ancient ruin in Japan? Just saw an awesome documentary on it
You just had to be there, man
Okay but all these years later and Suicune’s weave is still on point. 🔮💅
Probably my favorite comment since i dropped the video lol
You did a great job of capturing the nostalgia of these games! I remember getting the special edition Pikachu/Pichu GameBoy Color and playing Gen 2 games on it. Congrats on 1K!!
I had all the OG pokemon games and sold them off at Gamestop in college. I deeply regret that
I sold off my games exactly 1 time to gamestop as a kid and I felt sick to my stomach. I forget what I was trying to buy, maybe a used Majoras mask or something, but my parents were PISSED. I begged them to buy my games back and they did but said I was SOL if i ever did it again lol.
Crystal was my favorite out of the three, mostly due to the moving Pokèmon sprites which was a deal breaker at the time. Having a Gameboy Color back then with both Gold & Crystal for me was a great time for 10 year old me.
We're pretty similar ages so I know exactly what you mean. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate you.
I still remember playing Gold and Silver, being so annoyed that I couldn't be a girl character. I was so unbelievably happy when Crystal came out. This game means so much to me.
This game was such an amazing experience. It made you feel the nostalgia of yellow, red and blue, let you go BACK to Kanto, while also letting you use your old games at the same time. Some peak Pokemon gaming.
I'm 32 this year. And I still love this game. I still remember my mom buying this for us at Walmart behind the display case.
Played every gen as it was new and still play the games today…Crystal version is probably my favorite game in the series. Even more than HGSS which as very close contenders for me. I feel like I know every corner, npc story, and way to play that Crystal. I still play it today and it still is probably my most played game in Pokémon.
I'm similar to you. I personally like HGSS over gen 2 but they'll never have the SAME nostalgia factor (although at this point there is nostalgia for HGSS, I even remember it being one of the last midnight launches I ever went to before they basically disappeared).
I really hope I did you favorite game justice. Thank you for watching and commenting!
ampharos not being there hurts me LOL
Play crystal legacy. You’ll love it.
Amen. I have no idea what they were thinking with that.
Me too. My all time favorite electric type
Dude, incredible video I’m shocked you’re under 1k subs. Keep up the great work ethic and your channel will undoubtedly continue to find success. Happy to subscribe.
Thank you very much Moji. I do work a lot to make the content but honestly, I love it. Comments like yours make it worth it and I'm not just saying that.
Thank you for watching and letting me know what you thought. I'm excited to bring you MUCH more content.
Man what a hit nostalgia. I was 8 years old, 9/11 just happened, and two days later I’m in the er having my appendix removed. My parents got me the Pokemon crystal and see through purple gameboy combo. I played the heck out of that game. It was truly a different time.
It’s a great game. I found my old crystal cartridge in a drawer and just started a new game on my old game boy color, I am going to play it on the bus commuting to and from work on the bus
That's awesome!!!
Make sure your battery still holds a save. Those fry over time and it may not be able to hold your save.
Thank you for watching and commenting!
I'm still so mad a GameStop employee convinced 8 year old me to sell it to him for 4 bucks
4:24 , even I almost had a heart attack seeing such a drastic jump in film and I'm not from the 1800s! Very good point!
haha im glad it worked.
I remember when I first rented this from blockbuster in 2001 and then I got it for my birthday, so many good memories
Renting a pokemon game is crazy lmao
Great video dude I got this for Christmas as a kid loved every moment of this you rock
Wow man thank you for the kind words. I really appreciate you. I'm excited to bring you a lot more.
Great video. I loved Pokemon Yellow back then, but Gen2 was sooo magical to me. I still get happy if i hear gen2 music ❤
Thank you!
Yeah same. I love much of the older pokemon music. Gen 2 is especially nostalgic for me.
My favorite pokemon game!
How do you not have more subs and views?! Wild. Can't wait to see your channel grow!
Hey Orin.
Well people like you taking a chance on a small channel with fewer views means a lot to me. Thank you for the kind words. I'm really excited to bring you more content.
@Livvvid if you don't mind suggestions....people do love a good creepy pasta and/or reddit horror stories and there's some good pokemon ones. That could get some new eyes on your channel.
But whatever you do I'm loving the content. Thanks! And Happy New Year!🤙🏻
I'm open to suggestions absolutely. My only requirement is it has to be something I'm genuinely interested in. I wont force myself to cover anything, outside of that I'm open to it!
Any particular stories or creepies you'd recommend?
@Livvvid I absolutely understand that. There's one called Pokémon Rotted Yellow.
That's a pretty neat one. It's pretty much a rabbit hole from there 🤣 godspeed lol
11:08 I remember vividly hunting the numbers of trainers who'd give you elemental stones. They weren't as accessible as on Gen 1, so I spent quite some time finding out who were the good trainers LOL
Great video!
33 years old and the music of this game and RSE will stay in my heart forever
Being the special edition version of Gold/Silver, of course it would be great.
I just finished a playthrough of SoulSilver in Japanese and had to pause the video and wonder how on earth Minaki was supposed to be related to Suicune, let alone an anagram of Suikun as seemed to be implied. Having looked it up - well, I sure learned something today. Great video!
Thanks a lot John. I was actually playing soul silver this morning but decided to stop playing after faulkner because I want to cover a different game... Perhaps something in gen 3 ;)
Please keep doing this kind of video for the generations to come.
Oh don't you worry ;)
Thank you for watching and commenting. Excited to bring you much, much more.
Fantastic video. I didn't play Crystal due being fine with Silver among other games as a kid. I'm glad the remakes added the Crystal content. It's really cool Crystal tried to do online gaming. I didn't know the mobile adapter wasn't successful even in Japan.
Thank you enigma.
Yeah I wasn't aware of the mobile aspect until I researched either. I'm so impressed.
Pokemon brought me some of my first few lady friends and I was always very happy to have them as friends years later!
thats awesome. Hope you enjoyed the video. Thank you for watching and commenting.
I'm playing Crystal right now, as a 34-year old with 2 kids. I have used a randomizer though, to randomize all encounters and apply a 1.5 level multiplier. The difficulty really makes the game a blast.
Thank you for watching and commenting. Never tried a randomizer myself but I want to.
I am a millennium and seeing the pokemn moving was crazy back then. Even the colours were sooo cool!
Playing crystal right now on my analogue pocket 👌🏼 working on my eevee into umbreon friendship!
It can take a bit to get that friendship up. Make sure it's not dying or being boxed!
Thank you for commenting and watching Roland. Good to see you back.
For everyone’s next crystal play through. Start in the morning. Do a starter less run. Catch Phanpy, TeddiUrsa and dunsparce right away
Then pickup growlith, Lapras (on friday) and get the 17% shiny odd egg
The Togepi egg is 17% shiny???
@ sorry daycare egg
I did a run with Clefable as my starter and it was pretty fun! Taught it the three elemental punches
@@swagbear9965 if you get crystal clear on cartridge you can optimize move sets and dvs then trade them over to your crystal game
Crystal might be my favorite solely because I once caught Lugia with just a pokeball. Full health, first action of the encounter. Instantly became one of the most epic moments of my childhood pokémon journey
I realize the astronomically slim chances of that happening now as I did back then, so sorry I can't prove it happened since streaming and recording gameplay was pretty uncommon in those days. But the memory still lives strong in my mind, and probably my father's as well since I was screaming about it in the backseat of his car at the time 😂
You don't need to prove anything, that's absolutely possible mathematically within the games. In fact I've got a treat for you, your exact odds were 0.781% of doing that: www.dragonflycave.com/calculators/gen-ii-catch-rate
Thank you for watching and sharing your story. Hope to see you again.
@@LivvvidDamn those are definitely worse odds than I thought 😂 I figured it was something like 5%. Good to see someone talk about Crystal tho, I feel like it flies way under the radar compared to Emerald/ Platinum/ BW2
I'm covering those.... one day lol.
really like the stuff you've been posting, hope to see a lot more coming!!
Thank you for saying that Levin. I've enjoyed making it and seeing comments like yours.
and yes. you'll be getting a LOT more....
Anything you're hoping to see?
Awesome breakdown! Very well done and im surprised this is the first video of yours ive stumbled upon.
I'm glad you found my channel and I'm really excited to bring you more content.
Thank you for watching and commenting.
Went through all you ur videos and love the content you make. I’ll be excited to see a gen 3 video if you’re planning one!
Logan. Give me about 20 minutes.
Also, thank you for the kind words. That made my day. Hope you like whats coming next.
Crystal was my first Pokémon game ever and Suicune has been my favourite legendary ever since. And gosh, when I got Umbreon through friendship evolution it BLEW MY MIND.
Thank you for 1000 SUBSCRIBERS!!! I'm excited to bring you guys MUCH more content this year.
I grew up on pokemon, blue was my first video game. Crystal is the game I’m most nostalgic for, the time place and my age. Peak nostalgia ❤
“They would have had a heart attack” my same sentiment as a gen 2 player being reintroduced into the newest gen. 👁️ 👁️
hahaha exactly. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate you.
They already had different sprites in different versions, but moving sprites! Groundbreaking. 😸
It should be noted that technically, Japan started with Pokemon Red & Green and their 3rd version was Blue.
Yellow was technically a special edition rather than a 3rd version, the "anime" edition. So it makes sense they didn't go the same route as Crystal....
I hear you and I'm aware of that, I covered it in my Red and Blue video. But I was trying to not get bogged down in the more niche details to keep a flow. But you are correct.
I glide my eyes to the frame advancement. It catches my eye. I think it compiled the chief advent of the experience.
please explain further lol.
@@Livvvid I admire the sprite animations added in Pokémon Crystal.
Bro why you so damn funny 😂😂😂 the delivery is nonchalant, yet so on point 😂😂🫶
Haha enjoy man. Excited to bring you more content. Thank you for watching and the kind words.
Dude, I just watched a couple of your videos. Why tf don't you have more subscribers?! This is solid content bro. Zero fluff, great editing, wonderful narration and I even learned a lot of stuff I'd never known before (like the stuff about online connectivity back in 2001 for the Gameboy Color. I knew a bit, but none of the specifics). You've checked all of the important boxes my friend. So I'm flabbergasted you haven't garnered a huge following, especially considering how popular this topic is.
I see a great future just over the horizon given you keep at it with the same level of passion and genuine love for the franchise. Mad respect bro ✊
...and for context, I've been there since the beginning. I was about 7/8 years old when Red/Blue hit stateside. I had a huge card collection (including 7 holo base set Zard's, one of which being a 1st edition) and I've played most baseline games through till this piss poor slop in recent years that hit the Switch. Point being, I'm no fair weather fan. So I'd like to think my opinion holds at least a little weight.
I truly believe you'll gain massive traction in the very near future. This is top tier Pokémon content.
...oh, and I'm also Japanese and regularly visit my family in Japan. My blood literally runeth thick with Pokémon 😅
Oh, I almost forgot the most important part... you pronounce Pokémon as it should be. Nothing irks me more than supposed fans who call the franchise Pok"ee"mon or Pok"ee"man. God that shit gets me everytime, lol 😅
Hey thank you muk I really appreciate you saying that. I'm steadily gaining subscribers and just grinding. I'm actually taking a year off to just do content for my channel/stream because this is what I love. I do work really hard because I've got to do a lot like play the game, script write, edit, thumbnails but people like you really make it worth it. I mean it.
What part of japan do you visit when you go? It's always been a dream of mine to go there. Basically everything I like as a hobby is from japan and I love the culture.
Thank you for taking the time out to watch my content and give me your thoughts.
new fan, this is a great coverage of my favorite pokemon game. thank you for explaining so much now i can finally understand the GS ball.
My cartridge sits in a custom shadow box made years ago, on a grid with R/B/Y/S/G and above them is a 3D printed Nintendo logo. Sure it's essentially impossible to get them out but since that day I was able to download Crystal (to NDS) after buying a code card from a game shop. You bet I no-lifed it for a while with a 2½ year span of collecting points on my Blue Card every night for the password show. Hundreds of Rare Candies.
Probably the best thing about the digital download was the patch job we non-Japanese kids were missing: The GS Ball. It took me by surprise since it was only available there and not here. Goldenrod City to Azalea Town I went! Gave it to Kurtis. I went to the forest shrine and ta-da ~ a wild Celebi appeared. Oh, what a happy day that was. It was more rewarding than all those times I had to tweak game code to get what I wanted (up until Platinum). With that out of the way, methinks it's time to go back and finish Yellow (VC) because that was the first thing bought on the Nintendo shop but was abandoned when Crystal was made available. It was oddly late. Now it doesn't exist. Thanks for alienating your fanbase, Nintendo.
Hey devious thanks for watching.
I would really like to see your shadow box maybe on discord if you dont mind? sounds really cool and I've been thinking of ideas for my own collection, especially my TCG collection.
And yeah don't get me started on Nintendo and how they're handling VC and other purchased games on their e-stores...... I hold on to my physical collection and will never let go because once they take away support for the transporter and it's interaction with PokeBank, the phyiscal games will forever be severed from the new games.
Who knows if they make a collection set or not....
I'm about to be 32 in a few days. I remember first seeing this game at a kid's birthday party. I remember seeing the cartridge and asking what it was, because my world was Silver and Gold at the time. Then He let me boot it up on my Gameboy. My mind was blown. I was already a pokemon obsessed child, but the entire car ride home I was begging my mom to take me to GameStop so I could get crystal version. A few weeks later I ended up getting it as a gift from my grandpa who was visiting. To this day Crystal is my favorite pokemon game. Pokemon Legends Arceus was probably the closest I've felt to that same wonder and enjoyment I felt when playing crystal.
Side note. My girlfriend happens to have her original copy of Crystal, as well as all her old gameboys. To say I'm jealous is an understatement. Fortunately she says I can play it, but I don't dare erase her save file. So I'll hold out and get my own copy. Then Use her SP. (The one with the brighter screen)
Thanks for sharing. I also really liked Arceus. I think it sets a good foundations and they just have to build upon it.
Nice on the side note haha.
Thank you for watching and commenting.
This was my first Pokemon game, thanks for making this video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I remember playing crystal under the blanket at night. Oh the music and the atmosphere..
I did the same thing lol
Great video man!!! Playing crystal right now 😎
Thank you !!! glad you liked it. Who'd you get as the starter?
I chose Cyndaquill! However I almost picked totodile haha
That was always the debate for me lol. It's hard to choose between the two.
Thanks again for watching and commenting. I appreciate you.
Knocked this one out of the park. Thank you!
Thank you! I'm really happy you liked it samos.
I’ve been playing pokemon crystal for the first time on the virtual console, been having lots of fun! 🎉
2002. I remember first playing this game. There was a part in the game where you go into a cave after violet city and you surf across the water in a separate chamber in the cave. There you’ll find a weird looking Pokémon surfing on the water. You then surf close to it and start the wild encounter and you realize it’s a LAPRAS. Back then I had no idea what this Pokémon was so I assumed it was either extremely rare or legendary and used ultra balls to catch it. When that didn’t work, I used the only master ball I had to catch it. I showed my friends the Pokémon I caught thinking they’d be impressed but they looked at me and said that’s not a rare or legendary Pokémon it’s only an uncommon one and showed me proof. I was so mad I deleted the game and didn’t touch it until 6 years later.
Well put together mini review or look back at Crystal, its always my go to for that gen 2 mon revisit / SS in gen 4. Tbf the animations are a massive part of why its my go to. I even did a recent living dex just to relieve the game. Eusine and Suicune aren't true anagrams as Eusine doesn't use a 'C' in his name but I feel like it is a way to directly link him to Suicune, even though two seconds later he says I've spent 10 years chasing it.
Thank you luki. I appreciate you watching and sharing your thoughts.
Played silver and gold as a kid, but never got to try crystal. I have it on my steam deck and this video got me hype to finally experience it
Do it and let me know what you think.
Btw im a huge Deck Head lol. I have the special edition OLED and huge sim cards for a ton of emulators.
@Livvvid me too! i have the oled special edition with the orange controls and the kinda transparent grey see through ( wish they release the white one at the same time as that one, would have gotten that). I'll gladly re report on my experience and i love you channel! Found it last night for the first time
I saw the white one and I love my orange one with the transparent case. Reminds me of those transparent gameboys when I was a kid lol.
I"m really happy you like my content and I'm working hard to make MUCH more.
Crystal version was the first Pokémon game I bought with my own money. I remember being disappointed cause you couldn't clone Pokémon holding items, so there went my numbness model 🤣🤣🤣
Nostalgia hits hard 😄😄
Yay another great Pokémon video!
Thank you bee!!! I'm excited to bring you more.
“The battery has run dry” 😏
Mate, great video I have quickly become a big fan dude!
Hey sim thank you for saying that. I'm really glad you're enjoying the content. I plan on bringing you much more.
I saw you follow on twitch as well, Hopefully catch you on a stream. I'll make an announcement post later but I'll be streaming starting january 23rd. Thursday-Monday, 6+ hour streams of games I'm playing for the channel videos.
@@Livvvid Heck yeah dude!!
Pokémon Crystal will be my shit until I’m 96 years old lol. Love this game and I’ll never forget buying it at Blockbuster as a kid
yeah I'm with you. I came to the conclusion a long time ago that these are just the games im going to play forever lol... Thats why I love making content about them.
thank you for watching and commenting man. Appreciate you.
@ absolutely. This game being so good originally is why the HGSS remakes are so loved. Took an already amazing game and updated the shit out of it
that scizor animation goes hard
The option to play as a girl character, the Suicune story, being able to get multiple same-color Bonguri Nomi Balls, and the radio show-it is no wonder Pokémon Crystal improved over Gold and Silver.
Thank you for watching and commenting luigi!
@ Sure thing. Even I support Japanese content being Japanese content. That is how I know Miniskirt Mika in Akane's Gym has different dialogue to say her own Pokémon are cute to the girl player trainer, as opposed to warning the boy player trainer not to let his guard down just because she is a girl. Further world immersion that sadly got scrapped from HGSS as that used the GS dialogue.
The Pokemon animations from Crystal still hold up. They are much better than the "stretch and bounce" animations from Pokemon Emerald.
I’ve been an avid Pokemon fan since day 1 (in the US) and I’ve never heard of the cell phone connectivity until now. Insane.
Same! I'm not saying I do the most intense research but when I'm writing my scripts i discover stuff that I find interesting and that was really interesting to me so I decided to learn more about it and throw it in.
I'm glad I could bring you some new info. Working on the next video now ;)
Great video! :)
Thank you jenny. I'm excited to bring you more.
Crystal was the first Gen 2 game I played, right when it released. i loved every second of it.
This game really brings me back to the summer of 2001. Played it on the Game Boy Advance even tho it was a Game Boy Color game.
Ironic considering this game came out towards the end of the GBC lifespan.
I remember I traded my Pokémon yellow for this with my friend , I was so excited as a kid.
I love yellow but you won that trade
Still my favourite Pokémon game ever, with SoulSilver close behind. Crystal is the best for me because you get the entire region of Kanto to play through at the end. If they ever decide to give us DLC with an entire new region (not half baked like Kitakami in scarlet/violet) I would truly be blown away. Would be cool if they did a game where the plot sets it up where you have to travel between regions
Beyond that, the music, the charm of all the different areas, the sprites, the new Pokémon, the lore they introduced… Truly the best!
Happy new year.
happy new year quinn. Buckle up because I'm going to be bringing you a lot
I didn’t even know crystal existed until a few years after it came out i didn’t see any promotion or hear anyone talk about it.
Pokemon Crystal 🔮 was my 1st Pokemon game I've played and owned. My day one pokemon was Totodile. 💧🐊
When I saw Pidgey flap its wings, ohhhhhh boyyy ❤
Ah yes back when Pokemon wasn’t just for kids, the first two Generations have such a vibe, love the story continuation and world building.
I think I'll touch on that as I make more videos. The idea that you needed to progressively make these games easier and more hand holdy "for kids" is ridiculous. kids figured these games out. You don't need to make everything automated.
Their development seems so lopsided these days. They basically automate everything and refuse to let you figure anything out yet they constantly reference and promote gen 1 for the older generation's nostalgia.
thank you for watching and commenting. appreciate you.
The Japanese were really out here pokemon battling on Nokias while we were out here flailing in the mud with our link cables. Wild.
HeartGold and SoulSilver were even better - it's like they took the best 3 games in Pokémon history and made them even better.
Cant wait to cover those and thats why I always include the caviet that gen 2 is my favorite "if were aren't counting their remakes" lol
Thank you for making these videos. So cool.
great quality video loved every second and very entertaining
I'm really glad you liked it. I'm excited to bring you much more.
First time viewer and subscriber, just want to say what an amazing video.
Thank you!
Thank you so much Joao. I'm glad you liked the video. I can't wait to bring you more.
Crystal is the game I replay the most! I didn't even start with it (that would be Diamond). There's just something magical about gen 2 as a whole.
Will never understand the recent hatred Gen 2 has been getting from fans. I love everything about Johto.
Hoping for Nintendo to bring this to Switch 2. Playing Crystal was a blast. I can still remember my first run killing both Entei and Raikou just because they run away way too much, lol. And not to forget when I found out there's another whole region after E4.
Really good video. Crystal was my first pokemon game and I remember going to gamestop with my dad to pick it up. I still have it, but I'm sure the battery on the card has died by now.. rip all my pokemon. I hope you will do a firered and leafgreen vid soon! Also, I see you're are relatively new channel. Subbed! 👍
Yup those will come in due time. I've gone back to finish the gen 1 and 2 spinoffs but I'll work my way back into gen 3 for sure.
I'm glad you like my stuff, excited to bring you more.
Amazing Video - Would be worth to mention the combination with N64 Pkmn Stadium 2. I really love th way you can play with double speed after completing Stadium 2, which is an achievement by it self!
Yeah I always forget that but you're right. But fear not, this will be mentioned in my Stadium 2 video ;) hope to see you there.
Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate you.
Not being able to get Mareep is the main reason why I never played Pokemon Crystal. Ampharos is a mainstay on my Johto journeys.
It's been funny seeing so many comments like this. You aren't wrong but the love for mareep runs deep.
This was an amazing video
Thank you. I'm really excited to bring you more.
I absolutely shit my pants the first time I saw a pokemon sprite move. In my 34 years on the planet, few things in gaming made such a big impression on me.
I had Blue, Yellow, Crystal, and Ruby. Blue is the classic. Yellow was amazing for Pikachu as a kid who grew up watching the anime (with my Yellow Pikachu game boy of course). Crystal was incredibly good. Ruby was my last Pokemon game and was just a gigantic leap forward. Competes with Blue for my favorite.
I lived in Japan back when Pokemon Crystal came out bc my Dad was stationed there in the military and we lived in Kanagawa for a number of years. And I actually ended up getting one of those mobile adapter things bc one of my friends at school had one. I remember it didn’t work that great but it was rly cool when it did, esp to play against another real trainer! And tbh I didn’t even use it all that much and I nvr did that thing to get celebi but I can remember my friend had gotten some crazy rare pokemon with it. Idk if it was celebi tho or something else. I might actually still have that accessory somewhere. If it’s as rare as u say I rly hope I do! Those were good times back then
Thank you for sharing tom that's really cool. I was in the navy for a years and never got stationed in Japan, unfortunately. That's the one place I wanted to go above all because basically everything I like is from there.
Its also really cool to hear about someone actually using the peripheral. That would have made my brain collapse to see someone battling someone else via a mobile network on a gameboy lol.
People criticize gen 2 as being "slow" and say it revolves around stalling and wall pokemon, but I've always breezed through the game with fast and heavy hitting pokemon without an issue. Idk if its just some kind of made up meta they complain about or what, but gen 2 has always been one of my favorites
My first game ever in my life was Pokemon Gold, so Johto has a special place in my heart. ❤
Glad to hear that david. I will always love gen 2.
