It is the same everywhere. Tamilnadu eating milltets is considered as poor and such people are from farming community. Rich and sofisticated people ate rice. I have been eating millets since 5 years as I am allergic to gluten in wheat. Great crops they are. Also helped me drop my weight. That was cherry on the cake. The other best part is they contain fibre and you poop 💩 amazing.
I come from a village. I belong to an agricultural background. Earlier when i was in school, i started to become a little pompous of myself, because very less people were educated in my village and i was one of them. I used to believe i had to adopt to city lifestyle because it was "Developed" and discard the village backwardness. But as i grew older i found almost all the practices in the villages represent the true India, that is culturally rich, ancient, optimistic, honest, hardworking, and constantly evolving. The milllets or jowar/ragi is one of them. We used to make rotis with seven types of grains, in the village. Different types of foods were made according to time of the year, eg jaggery and chickpea products in the winter to keep you warm, snack like Gujias in spring, etc. Different types of foods provide you with all the nutrition you'll ever need. But, i was fascinated by Pizza, burgers and chowmein and all sorts of pathetic food. In not so distant future you will find people embracing our culture and practice without the fear of being labelled as backward. Reverting to local foods and lifestyle that is both sustainable and pure. That is why Mahatma Gandhi pushed so hard for the villages, he said, "The soul of India resides in the villages of India." Sometimes I feel a little ashamed of myself.
Recently we had a millets session and i was so facinated with the benefits that millet provide us... More power to govt for taking such correct n beautiful decision

Even Telangana & AP people consume Millets, Many elders lived for 90-100 years and some are still very healthy, when asked they say the same thing Eat Millet crops.
Haudu, due to high fiber content in Ragi, it takes long time to digest and with a lower glycemic index it absorbs into your body slowly which makes it last longer in your GI tract. It keeps you full for long.
Why Rakesh Tikait leading farmers group representing only punjab farmers ? Each state has farmers and they have their own problems. As India is still a major agricultural based economy , Govt should elect an educated minister as they have given us S. Jaishankar, Gadkari and A. Vaishnav to know the problems of farmers and try to solve them . These Rakesh Tikaits do more for politics and less for farmers.
Farmers bill was superb bill.. No state objected it except Punjab even opposition parties too not against it...Later they joined for political purposes... Rich farmers see for there benefits only in the name of the farmers union

@@subhajit201 So you're talking about vast amount of water resources. You know Bangladesh is blessed with 700 rivers. Wt least 4 big rivers coming all the way from Uttarakhand, Tibet, Nagaland, Sikkim. Those rivers are already dammed by upper riparian countries. China built 3 dams on Brahmaputra in tibet and continuously changing the water flow of the world's most ancient river. India is doing as well. Since you raised that question of vast water, let me tell you water flow from river in that enter Bangladesh from other countries dropped by 50% within 46 years. Since there is risk circling on the head we should plan ahead for our food security. A country blessed with natural resources now the blessings are deliberately driven away from us.
Andhrapradesh has created canals to use river water to distribute it over the area, that might reduce the ground water use in normal seasons and rely on ground water only in summers
Even Punjab & Haryana has canal system of irrigation. The problem is they only cultivates food crops like Rice -Wheat, whereas in AP you can see Diverse crops like Food grains, Oilseeds, Pulses, Horticultural crops like Fruits & Vegetables.
I would like to express my gratitude for creating such an informative video on millet production and the efforts made by our government to restore it. It is fascinating to learn how millet consumption during the childhood of our great grandparents made them less susceptible to diseases. However, I noticed that the video did not touch upon a crucial aspect - how did the agro scientists of the past fail to anticipate the high water consumption and pesticide usage that rice and wheat cultivation would require? This lack of foresight has resulted in a host of environmental problems such as chronic diseases, greenhouse effect, soil erosion, and depletion of ground water. It would be great to learn about such aspects so that the future generations would be well aware not to repeat those mistakes. Thank you for creating such valuable content and I look forward to more insightful videos from you.
Long live Think School, You created such an important video, that every indian should know. I like millets such as Bajra & Jowar right from my childhood, I really missed them during my hostel days, where Wheat & Rice are the only options available. But, now I consume only millets such as Bajra, Jowar & Ragi(Nachni/Nagli) for my lunch & dinner regularly. Only when I am away from home I consume Wheat & Rice when no choice. And, to my surprise I only realised a year back that, how millets are good not only for me but also for our soil & environment.

Content in video is real. I am Farmer in this month i produced jowar in 1.5 Acer. Water consumption is real less compared to rice. But problems is rice requires less farmer work compared to other crops. So farmers will go for Rice production due to less work is required. Trust me some farmers are very lazy they dont Even trun off water pumps. Just imagen a water pumps which is capable of bringing 20 liters per every second of ground water running constantly for weeks. People have to understand. And try to think logically rather then sentimentally.. And Educating farmers are really hard job They wont listen until govt imposes a rule
In our region North Karnataka most of the millet growing farmers depend on rain for growing millets. This crop don't require huge amount of water they can grow driest of the dry lands, temperature in our part reaches as high as Adarsh mentioned 42-43.

In Tamil Nadu, millets were a staple food in the interior districts of the state rather than coasts and kaveri delta region till 1980. After Green Revolution and socio economic upliftment of the Tamil society , Tamils started considering millets as a 'poor man food' but now Tamils turn towards millets for its health benefits... Hoping for production of Millets in Tamil Nadu to achieve its olden times rate....

Retaining from growing rice and wheat is also a problem. As our bodies get used to all these years. In drought-prone areas like rajasthan, it's important to accumulate the flood water. We know many states are being hit by flood every year. These waters need to be pumped in tanks and transported to drought-prone states for storage.

That is why Mahatma Gandhi pushed so hard for the villages, he said, "The soul of India resides in the villages of India."
Sometimes I feel a little ashamed of myself.
Recently we had a millets session and i was so facinated with the benefits that millet provide us... More power to govt for taking such correct n beautiful decision
I'm from Karnataka, we usually grow at land jawar, and ragi, and will plan upcoming days to keep it up by producing these foods materials...
Tow of my uncle's kept their status of the photos they clicked at "Millets 2023" and hailed it as the important step in farming sector and I didn't knew why!! thankyou Think School for this informative video... And keet it up.🤞
Me as a Odia was looking for a better option than rice for our crop fields and now knowing about this scheme from my favourite channel..as like "Bagal me chhora gaon me dhindhora" Thank you ganesh bhai..If I succeed, I'll definitely write a letter to you..✊
Good luck
In my state Karnataka in southern part most households consume Ragi muddhe(ball) daily including me
I was told by my grandparents that consuming ragi muddhe will make me strong and masculine
I have seen many working in fields with same energy level throughout the day as they wud consume Ragi muddhe and go for work
I was about to comment the same and I am from Telangana
Even Telangana & AP people consume Millets, Many elders lived for 90-100 years and some are still very healthy, when asked they say the same thing Eat Millet crops.
Haudu, due to high fiber content in Ragi, it takes long time to digest and with a lower glycemic index it absorbs into your body slowly which makes it last longer in your GI tract. It keeps you full for long.
@@MichelleObamasBBC valueable info👍
In Odisha we eat it too..we call Raagi/Mandia anda
Ragi mudde is our staple in Bangalore, Mysore, mandya belt
Good to know that how millet solves our various critical problems.
Thank you brother for your effort.
As an Assamese, I am proud that we are the highest consumer of Millets in India. Millets are a gift to mankind.
Other state ke farmar ko Kerala bihar jaisa open market dena chahiye ,, modi policy reject hone ke bad state gov permission de sakti hai ,, small farm land se farmar problem mein rahenge
@Satish Bhanse yeah! Real farmers are not so much aware with these laws that's why these political goons and the brokers lead them astray
Because Punjab farmer have more exploited ground water
@@Kanishhkaa discuss drawbacks of farmer laws also
Thanks for highlighting the phenomenal initiative from the Odisha government...
Agriculture is the most important part of our livelihood and now this presentation aware us to value our farmers and i love that this vidoe plays an important role.
The effort put into researching the presented information is great and gives the viewer the option to learn and decide for oneself. Good job guys.
The amount of good things I'm hearing about Odisha ✨
Your video is worth waiting... there hasnt been a single video after subscribinig that i watched a day after .
I am from southern part of karnataka we still consume ragi (finger millet) as our staple food ☺
Just a few months ago, my family shifted to millets in place of wheat for better health and then Modiji also asked everyone to have millets which made me feel so different like everyone coping our family
Prevent constipation......100%agree.
My 6year old child is best example.
You ate your child

From Western Odisha❣️ - This year in our village produce 150-200 quintal of millets and sell at a price 35-40/kg and receive incentive from Government of Odisha.
I am from odisha but I didn't know about millet mission. I am proud of my state and thanks for information bhaiya.
I am very happy that odisha name coming again to surface bcoz of the odisha millet mission, hockey World Cup, disaster management etc.. thank you think school.. for educating other state about odisha
Kudos to Odisha for becoming pioneers in millet
Production
I hope Bangladesh government should take initiatives of Millet mission like Odisha. In Bangladesh, the paucity of groundwater is increasing because of unplanned urbanization and decreasing cultivable lands. 🇧🇩🇧🇩
Thank you Ganesh for sharing this episode.
Love from 🇧🇩
Dude chill. Bengal has vast surface water resources. Thank God we won’t have to eat millets instead of rice in foreseeable future. Millets taste so bad compared to rice or wheat, I am never switching to millets.
So glad you are making video on Millets. Khadarvalli is millet man ❤
Long live Think School, You created such an important video, that every indian should know.
❤❤❤❤❤✅✅✅✅✅✅✅😊
I appreciate your efforts to address the problems of farmers, please do continue this.❤
First time saw your brother on channel, but he seems really knowledgeable and confident... Hope to see him in future videos too

Actually I am from odisha and also belongs to a farmer family. We ( our whole area) do rice farming . I just read out about milet farming in odisha in text book.
But unaware about odisha milet mission and importance of milet farming..
And now proud about my state...
Ragi/Mandia mostly grown in Western and Southern Odisha.
My attention is towards video is increasing because of your standing I think
It works I suggest you continue this ❤
I am following think school from its 80k subs initially it breaked strategies of famous brands but now it is fully focused on geopolitics btw Iam liking geopolitics more than business tactics now 😅 thank you think school 😊
And
Educating farmers are really hard job
They wont listen until govt imposes a rule
In our region North Karnataka most of the millet growing farmers depend on rain for growing millets. This crop don't require huge amount of water they can grow driest of the dry lands, temperature in our part reaches as high as Adarsh mentioned 42-43.

Indian farmers given tasty foods 🙏 we are proud of our farmers.
Loving the experiment with adding new speakers ❤
My forefathers were eating millets and i can confirm their health was 100x better than us. I guess we are back to it again.
I love bhakri (roti made from jawar or bajara)
The hero we got but we don't deserve, every citizen need to see this. Sharing this

Finally someone has noticed ragi and its friends importance... feel proud of ragi mudde/sangati
Please bring up more video on agricultural sector and agrirech also
Also try to make well researched case studies on all Indian states one by one and help us to understand how the economy of State and in general how state works
Plz start from Uttarakhand
And also make case studies in very detail and over information way
It's good to hear something good about Odisha from you brother. Prabhu jagannath bless you. ❤

A very important subject that millions are unaware of. A very good explanation and presentation
I loved how his brother said "CHERRY ON THE CAKE"😆
superb, thankyou very much ganesh prasad n team thinkschool
We need more information about this in our States. ... So that in future I can help my brother's farms to grow Millets...It should be also listed more carefully in The economic part of Social Studies Books...this should be introduced like a scheme to the farmers.
South India - Bangalore has made me fan of millets such as Ragi in last 5 years!
I am from Rajasthan, we grown milets last year in just 2 rain water and get for whole year .
No pesticide
No under water
No other extra maintenance
Retaining from growing rice and wheat is also a problem. As our bodies get used to all these years. In drought-prone areas like rajasthan, it's important to accumulate the flood water. We know many states are being hit by flood every year. These waters need to be pumped in tanks and transported to drought-prone states for storage.
Commenting for the first time for ThinkSchool. Thank you so much for creating this video on Millet- ancient food of Bharat. You are among the rare breed of creators ( Abhi, Niyu etc) who thinks what content is good for Bharat vesus what content is good for Money making
Indian government should regulate and legalize farming of weed and allow export to other countries!
I am very much grateful for you for bringing this out to the country...
Hi Viswa,

Currently I'm a part of the Agriculture Census 2021-22 conducting by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India in Koraput, Odisha. Ragi is being cultivated in major parts of the district. Most farmers have been cultivating it for many decades and it is one of the staple diet of the tribals living here; locally known as 'Mandia Jau

I am from Kerala. If millet want to become the part of daily diet ,more cuisine & dishes to be invented and become trending.😋😋
Being from odisha, seeing its growth story it is phenomenal from revenue surplus state, lower taxes, giving subsidies on electric vehicles, sponsoring hockey to incentivizing millets production.
I was brought up by eating alot of millets especially barnyard millets. Very rich source of iron btw.
Naveen sir is visionary leader. Great job Odisha. Since this is the Year of Millet , will include this superfood in my diet and do my part to reduce dependency on wheat and rice.🙏
