Beautiful design. Love the breakdown and how to "fix" or move on from booboo's. You're not only sharing great detail instructions, you're empowering us all to be finishers! Thank you, Angela!
Thank you for these videos, Angela! The challenges are fun to follow even like 4 years after :) Just wanted to say that I struggled with swirls so much, even with paper and pen. Then I just decided to move on to feathers and was afraid it would be a mess but I found feathers much easier, at least in this variation. Thanks again!
I really enjoy your videos. Especially the ones with all-over designs. I use a lot of prints where the quilting doesn't show much, but I still want to be able to quilt it myself so it looks good. Your videos are giving me the confidence to tell myself - "Yes, I can do this."
Thank you for your ability to do step by step videos for those of us that need to be able to SEE how to do projects. You are so great to share all your knowledge and helpful hints and tips. I have really gotten a lot of useful information from your videos. Always love it when I see that you've posted something new. Just wanted to give you a big thank you.
I did it! Yea! Thank you for your great tutorials that encourage us not to stress over the imperfections and just enjoy learning. Many of my feathers looked like flowers but I improved the more I did. It was so fun with a great feeling of accomplishment!
This is my “go to” background fill! I love this design and I think because this was my first feather it made it easy to graduate to other feather designs without any issues. Thank you so much for sharing this design!
Iam a beginner free motion quilter. I am loving your tutorials. Does the ability to make nice easy curves for meandering or just happen eventually with practice. Thanks much.
I hope I get the hang of fmq. I am horrible at it. I am working on quilting my first quilt top and it can be a little discouraging. I would love to be able to quilt patterns like this!
I love your videos, Angela, and I'm in awe of your talent. I'm struggling with this one, however. This is the first time that what you did doesn't make sense to me. I can't see the "feather" in your feather meander. I'll watch your demo again and try to see the big picture.
Curious how your quilt sandwich is held together. I don't see pins so did you spray baste? If so, what product did you use? It sometimes looks like the fabric is bunchy and I think you're going to get a tuck but then somehow it smooths back out. Thanks sharing your talent. I've learned so much!
The quilt I’m working on currently is with Dresden Fans and Dresden Plates. What do you like to do with the pedals and outside the blank area around the Dresden Plates and Fans ?
Angela! Thank you again for your great videos this week. Even though I fluff and stuff my quilt, I cannot move it as freely as you do. What is your trick please?
Angela, does the machine you're using in the video have some sort of Stitch regulator? Or are you just that good?! I find that my shapes are pretty good, but keeping my stitches even is very difficult.
Hi happy new year.i just love your quilting but most of all your FMQ .I have a big problems it is unable to get out of the Patten so I get stuck and go all over the place .so how do you get out and back on track thank you
I’m loving your video tutorials on free motion quilting. However, I’m terrified and unsure which FMQ to start on my second quilt. The first quilt I did stitch in the ditch (boring beginner stuff right). My 2nd quilt, “Summer in the Park,” needs a little something more than stitch in the ditch, but it’s very geometric. Which FMQ pattern do you recommend?
I like to use Quilters Dream Fusible batting. Here's a link to more information about it: quilting-is-my-therapy.myshopify.com/products/fusible-poly-batting-by-quilters-dream Even if you quilt it heavily, it will soften up with use. I think having more quilting will make it last longer.
So, do I always stitch the feather meander swirls in the same direction, either clockwise or counterclockwise? Thanks so much for these tutorials through the quilt along challenge!
Hey, Angela! LOVING these FQ videos! My question : Do youbuse the special 'low tension' bobbin case for your Janome for FMQ? My thread keeps breaking!!!!!! But, i am also new to this janome machine....
Patty Gray ok, i will try it! Thank you! I actually just read that somewhere else too! They said that after a little while of using the purple, they were able to buy thesmuch less expensive Organ Brand size 14, and use those with no problems. Apparently Organ manufactures the Janome needles? Thats what i rrad somewhere.....
I love my janome. About 5-10% of needles are just a bad needle... I have used all kinds of thread with it. Try switching to different stitch. I like the ones with a little p on the chart for piecing better than the default stitch. Just better results. I made 14 tops this winter so doing the finishing stuff and gave 10 away today.
Now we are talking, oh boy feathers. I ask, what's not to love about feathers? They have always been one of my favorites and just maybe I can now make them without them looking, well, awful. Thanks Angela, lots of hugs to a wonderful gal....Claudia
My left brain right brain fights each other...do you do start up spine in same direction? Where do u answer these comments? I have questioned before and have not seen any answers! Thank u so much for all u do. Dawn Snyder😎😍
Angela Walters There's a book ? I am doing the swirl on a quilt now . It looks awful . Seriously . I am having trouble keeping stitches uniform and they are too close . Tension is on zero . Bought a new Juki 2010 just for this . Oh well . Will keep on keeping on . Ugh .....😊
advice Your stitches are very beautiful. Your sewing machine is Janome 710. I am a poor person and it is not possible for me to buy this sewing machine with so much money. This sewing machine if Uesd available in low budget. Then I will buy. Or you will have beautiful sewing like this sewing machine on a low budget with the name and model number of such a sewing machine. so that i can buy I am a designer. Design with pen on two layers of fabric. I will sew using free mutton on the sewing machine.
Oh my! Angela…you’re so encouraging and a great educator. Love your confidence…hope it’s contagious. 😮. ❤
Beautiful design. Love the breakdown and how to "fix" or move on from booboo's. You're not only sharing great detail instructions, you're empowering us all to be finishers! Thank you, Angela!
Thank YOU for watching! I really appreciate the support!!
I was trying to do your Flower Meander but realized it looked more like this! Love your videos and helpful tips.
This is my favorite quilt design! I use it all the time. It's fast, easy and looks great in so many places. It's also my favorite doodle.
I love the FMQ challenge and your nail polish too! Thanks so much!
I learned a lot. Especially about how to get the feathers going in the right direction. Thank you so much
Your videos are so very helpful. Thank you for your willingness to share with all of the rest of us. You rock!
I really enjoy your videos. Especially the ones with all-over designs. I use a lot of prints where the quilting doesn't show much, but I still want to be able to quilt it myself so it looks good. Your videos are giving me the confidence to tell myself - "Yes, I can do this."
Thanks so much for these tutorials. You are my favorite instructor for inspiration. I’m going to order your books now.

When you used the term "merge", I had the great aha moment about feathers! I was a term that I totally related to and could "see" ahead!
I just received your book! Going to do the meandering feathers. They are so pretty. AND you signed my book! Thank you for sharing your talent.
Thank YOU for watching! I really appreciate the support!! I am so glad that you like the book as well :)
I love your videos....and I'm enjoying the FM challenge. Thank you for all you do for the quilting community
I love this motif. You make it seem so easy. Thanks for all the videos.
This is my “go to” background fill! I love this design and I think because this was my first feather it made it easy to graduate to other feather designs without any issues. Thank you so much for sharing this design!
You are a free motion Titan. Thank you for a great lesson.
I love your lessons. Tks a lot. Hugs from Brazil
Perfect timing... i am about to put a quilt on the frame today:)) Thanks Angela:))
This challenge is such a great idea. You have no idea how many tops I have stuffed into totes. When I get the time I'm jumping into this
Your teaching makes this so easy. Thank you!!😊
Thank YOU for watching! I really appreciate the support!!
Iam a beginner free motion quilter. I am loving your tutorials. Does the ability to make nice easy curves for meandering or just happen eventually with practice. Thanks much.
Well, Angela, I stink at roundish feathers, but when I get the whole block finished, it doesn’t look too bad for a beginner. 🙃
Love your tutorials, this is one i need more practice on.
Bravo...these videos are amazing!!
I hope I get the hang of fmq. I am horrible at it. I am working on quilting my first quilt top and it can be a little discouraging. I would love to be able to quilt patterns like this!
I love this book!!! Awesome!!!
I love your videos, Angela, and I'm in awe of your talent. I'm struggling with this one, however. This is the first time that what you did doesn't make sense to me. I can't see the "feather" in your feather meander. I'll watch your demo again and try to see the big picture.
Thank you for your tips; they are so helpful!
I have to get into free motion and it intimidates me so much.
Very nice 👌

Nicole Erickson She uses fusible batting. There's a video somewhere... ;-)
I'd love to see a that uses a square meander like the greek key idea - do you have something like that in your little bag of tricks?
Love this one too!!! Are you using ruler foot in this video?
I love this! Thanks so much for these videos! Thank you for taking the time to do this!! ❤️
I feel I can achieve this and one day work up to a full feather! THANK YOU!!!
Lovely. What machine are you using?
Hi happy new year.i just love your quilting but most of all your FMQ .I have a big problems it is unable to get out of the Patten so I get stuck and go all over the place .so how do you get out and back on track thank you
Oh boy, this looks easier than the regular feather. And after quilting a small wall hanging with meander, I need something else to use for all over.
Do you use this as a long arm design? I find some designs are much harder when using the long arm machine but I’m pretty new to it.
I’m loving your video tutorials on free motion quilting. However, I’m terrified and unsure which FMQ to start on my second quilt. You make it look so easy
I've just had a little practice! Keep with it, it'll get easier for sure!
Great one again, i can quilt a fern feather but those are somehow difficult. I will try again,
Thank you!
Inspirational again, got to try it, TFS 🐢
beautiful ! How is "meandering feather" different from "mctavishing" ?
What type of batting do you use? And does the quilting make it colder if you quilt it heavily?
I like to use Quilters Dream Fusible batting. Here's a link to more information about it:
quilting-is-my-therapy.myshopify.com/products/fusible-poly-batting-by-quilters-dream
Even if you quilt it heavily, it will soften up with use. I think having more quilting will make it last longer.
When you use the ruler foot does it make it difficult to see of the feather touches the spine?
So, do I always stitch the feather meander swirls in the same direction, either clockwise or counterclockwise? Thanks so much for these tutorials through the quilt along challenge!
It doesn't matter! You can always quilt them the same way or alternate directions. Hope that helps!
I can’t find the description below. How do I order the book? Thanks
Blocks all done Are we learning what to quilt in the negative space and sashing I wondet
Can I do it without a quilting foot pl
Hey, Angela! LOVING these FQ videos! My question : Do youbuse the special 'low tension' bobbin case for your Janome for FMQ? My thread keeps breaking!!!!!! But, i am also new to this janome machine....
Try using the Janome purple needles. Using those needles have eliminate my thread breaking.
Patty Gray ok, i will try it! Thank you! I actually just read that somewhere else too! Julie Spear, let me know what you find out! The purple needles are expensive, but worth it to not getting skipped stitches!
Best price on Janome purple needles: allstitch.net/product/organ-home-embroidery-needles-15x1-sp-bp-9014-stretch-1469.cfm

I can do pretty well on my samples and practice but in the quilt I get stymied,
Unsure how to post pictures In youtube
