Thank you so much for doing this video bro! You are a blessing to me because my mother has the same car and I know that I couldn't have fixed it without your video!
Mine has a clip on the bottom too... and the bolt thats closest to it with the protective rubber broke when i was trying to get it off inside the alternator... sooooo annoying.
From what I have researched, it is inside of the alternator. I have never had to take it out but you can watch this video here and go to 4.17 ua-cam.com/video/qOo0iSnmwP4/v-deo.html
@@raylyd on the opposite side There is a nut to take out, take that out but not all the way loosen enough to the point where the bolt is flush with the end of the thread. Then try to fit a screwdriver or a prying tool and pry it's out don't pry against the engine pry against the frame of the car. If it's loose take the nut off all the way lift the alternator a little bit and then pull the bolt out all the way. Let me know if this works or not. Hope this helps
@Marco Rodriguez what type of car do you have? It also depends on where it is this one was in the back of the engine towards the firewall typically takes an hour if you know what you're doing if it's a V6 and in the back it might take you an hour to two. If it's a V6 in the front like my eclipse, it should only take you half an hour
If there is enough room you may have to to get a jack and place a block of wood on top so you don't damage your oil pan and then remove the edgy note closest to where the bolt is and then Jack the engine up or down slightly to get the bolt out. Had to do this on my eclipse. Be extremely careful when doing this though and you must use a block of wood otherwise you can damage your oil pan and you don't want to raise or lower the engine too much otherwise you'll wreck other components in the engine
the comment on the removal of the 2 bolts holding a metal guard in the fender well will allow me to get that bottom bolt. but hey I hear its all the oil leaking down on the alternator that made it fail so it looks like I need to do the lave cover gasket so my new alternator doesn't prematurely fail
Unfortunately I'm not sure what you are talking about with the two bolts. Is it in the video that you can time stamp? For the oil it's definitely a good idea to replace the gasket on the valve cover not very hard and doesn't take too long.
@DrewApple I am a bit confused. Do you mean the bottom bolt for the alternator won't come out all the way cuz it is hitting other metal or that it is stuck?
@@NorthDakotaCarGuy thank you for the reply. Yes, the bottom bolt is unable to pull all the way out before the square head butts up against the car's metal frame.
@@drewappel5474 I have not had this problem before so take my advice for a grain of salt lol. You can try to take the main enging mount left side out and lower the engine down a little were there is a spot to slip it out. Do not drop the engine to low or you can wreck it also use a flat piece of wood on top of the jack so you dont wreck the oil pan. Let me know what you find out, hope this is helpful to you! Good luck!
Thanks for the video dude!!...My wife and I just installed an alternator in our 2002 Mitsubishi Galant watching your vid.
My pleasure! And props for your wife helping you 😂 #lifegoals
i love the amount of oil scattered around the engine bay
Lol I know its really bad XD I should just swap the engine with a 4G63

Wow man thanks! I'm so happy this helped you! If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask!
anything that u need to install that has to do with electrical, u have to disconnect negative battery terminal first.
Yeah i forgot lol i have done electrical work before this XD
God fucking damn it's so hard to get these things out of and in the fucking engine bay cause there no clearance
Great video young fella
Thank you!

Any idea how long your belt is
What size socket is the bolt that was hand tight
It was a while ago but if i remember its ether a 12MM or a 14MM. 99% of bolts in a Mitsubishi will be MM
Do you know where the voltage regulator is on a 2002 Mitsubishi

I took the alternator up there and had it tested it past
What size wrenches do you need
This was a few years back so I don't remember specifically but common sizes you need for Mitsubishi are 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 16mm
Is it the same thing with oz rally?
Can you clarify what you're asking?
i have this job to do but the bolt that goes though is sized on any tips i have soaked it in oil and not tryed heat as of yet
Which bolt is stuck? The bottom or top mounting points?
Bottom bolt that is square ended goes though the engine mine is a 4g63 sohc
Been trying for a few days to get it off and nothing

i need to do this today. How long did it take?

@@NorthDakotaCarGuy took me one hour. It's a four cylinder with alternator in the back towards firewall.
I have a 01 and the last bolt just hits the chassis metal and won't come out

What engine is it?
4g64
Any recommendations for when the chassis metal is keeping the bolt from being pulled all the way out?

Just for other readers... It's two bolts in the wheel well, remove those and that guard can come out.
What size wrench
Still have to be a little bit more specific LOL. Main ones they used where 10 mm 12 mm and 14 mm
Isnt this the 3rd time
yes XD
