    How does the temperature sensor work? I ask because it is before the thermostat. I think it only reads the radiator temperature, if I'm not mistaken any overheating problems? Also Nice videos

    • @NorthDakotaCarGuy
      @NorthDakotaCarGuy 2 дні тому

      @Rx7fc87 the position of the senior is on the outflow side of the engine, After the thermostat. That way I know when it opens and what the temperature of the motor is coming out of the engine. In my opinion it gives a clearer indication of what the overall engine temp is vs the inlet pipe or radiator temp is because it will always most likely be colder than what the engine actually is. Never had overheating problems besides doing slow paradise (reving to 8k) in 90 degree weather 🤣 temp got to about 210 but even then mazda spec says anything at or over 220 is concerned over heating.

    Why did you torch the frame and on top of paint, how come you didn't use some kind of rust converter and incapsulator?

    • @NorthDakotaCarGuy
      @NorthDakotaCarGuy 21 день тому

      @davispaul82 Torching the frame helps remove any oils or other crap that I may have missed when cleaning. I decided not to get conventional "rust blocking paint" because they often have a rubber/thick coating that can trap moisture, making rust worse in areas. It's also a pain to clean. Hope this helps ✌️

      Actually, I do have a question. 4 yrs ago I bought a '90 FC convertible, put 20k miles on it, now at 100k, which lost compression 2 yrs ago and now the engine is out. I want to eliminate as many ancillaries as possible, such as OMP, EGR, etc., but keep the stock ECU. Basically, I want to rebuild/restore the car as economically as possible, while simplifying/improving performance a little bit. What can/should I delete, and what can/should I keep? I live in Kentucky, so no emissions testing/requirements and will be my weekend/sunshine ride. Thanks!

    • @NorthDakotaCarGuy
      @NorthDakotaCarGuy 3 місяці тому

      @raceway3982 With the motor running low compression. You're going to need to most likely replace the Apex seals. But as far as your emissions goes, you can basically get rid of everything, but if you're wanting to leave the ECU stock I suggest leaving the air pump installed so that you will still have your 5th and 6th ports (if installed) still working properly. I have a full tutorial on how to remove the emissions for s4 motors but since yours is a s5 it will very. One of my commentators I believe in part 2. Had a similar thing going on and can check the comments for all the information that I gave him! Here is part 1! ua-cam.com/video/1kuPn9wsBP0/v-deo.htmlsi=ZaGTskFQGoxbMxqa

    Hey! Nice video! Real quick, what did you use to buff out the dirt and grime for the entire rear subframe?!

    • @NorthDakotaCarGuy
      @NorthDakotaCarGuy 4 місяці тому

      I only used a wire wheel And brushes and some of the tight areas, but I've heard of other things online about using solutions to get more off. But I didn't go that in depth. There's some good videos online on how to remove rust. But a wire wheel and brushes and lots of brake cleaner should get most jobs done.👍

    Having your rear wheels tucked in actually gives you more side bite, being your car is struggling to stay in drift, pushing the wheels out will most likely help slide easier.

    • @tuna_nuke
      @tuna_nuke 7 місяців тому

      Does more sidewall give more sidebite?

    • @tuckertenhoff
      @tuckertenhoff 7 місяців тому

      @@tuna_nuke that’s a good question. It can increase side bite, at the same time too much sidewall will make the car feel “squirly” and unsettled. Finding a good medium sweet spot is key. For example, a 35 sidewall will be hard, 45-50 sidewall will feel hard at higher pressures and grippy with low pressure, a 55 and up will have a lot of sidewall roll

      Last time I had looked. I don't believe you can find a real oem replacement, you'll have to get after market and that comes with a bunch of other work. But things may have changed since this was a few years ago. It really didn't cost me a lot to get the rebuild kit and it was fairly simple. Haven't had a problem since I did this.

      I highly suggest getting yourself a Haines Manual and going through the step-by-step process Because it's very important that you do it in a series and do it in the correct pattern. From what i found online, the Cylinder Head Bolts is 80 ft lbs. The Factory Service Manual says to torque them in 2 to 3 stages/steps

      Thanks you I appreciate it! For cleaning I used a Wire brush and wire wheel and then wiped stuff down with rubbing alcohol and burnt the rest off with a torch (wait for the alcohol to evaporate first before!) Just be careful with the aluminum parts like the front control arms as a grinding wheel will really dig into that soft metal. for painting I should have put a type of primer down first but I was in a time crunch and just did about 2 coats of black and 2-3 coats of glitter clear! I do all this at the end of this episode here-> ua-cam.com/video/nyp2XNSNRFQ/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared&t=610
