This BMW reminds me of my marriage. The old wood gets quicker and the rear end gets out of shape and corroded. 😆 Great job Pete and Dave!
I really enjoy your E28 overhaul serie !
This car does deserve a full rebuild!! ;)
Maybe one day!
These episodes are so great! I've had a e28 535i, a e30 318is and a 1969 2002 they were so fun and easy to work on! GREAT WORK! Now I want to buy another e28.
Great to hear! Having another E28 is never bad :)
@@speedacademy I actually bought a 528E today but its pretty rough it will be a nice project.
5:27 why not do a little compound and polish part in a video? It would be cool to show to difference it can make-especially for paint matching.
I was thinking the same, mate.
I love watch this dude talking while work on something.
Look professional to me and entertainment to.
Man I am hooked on these e28 vids!
those wipes are great for everything! from your shifter to your shoes!
Honestly this has been incredibly interesting to watch this series. It's always cool to see k swaps and builds that are perfect but this car has small imperfections here and there. Super awesome content keep it up!
Thanks! Glad you like it.
I'm really enjoying this car for whatever reason lol. I guess the older cars are just kind of modest and fun.
That front air dam will also work great as a snow plow/drift buster in the winter!!
Next time you use filler for holes or fairly deep repairs start with a fiberglass reinforced filler first. Then use a standard filler over the top of it.
Your body work isn't perfect. But on a driver who cares. It looks better then it did and it will hopefully stop/slow down the rust that was back there. The only thing is, I think I would have pulled the tail lights and dealt with the dents and rust that is below them at the same time. I know it's more visible being above the bumper. But that rust is going to rust all the way thru if you don't deal with it. A couple mismatched paint spots are better then rust holes.
So good finding these video's, just about to start a restoration on my, 520i e28. Little tip with the gear knob. Put it in 2nd, then pull it. Comes off a treat. Get good vibes from you're video's. Keep up the good work.
Thanks good luck with your resto!
I'd call it a good 10 foot car. Not everything needs to be perfect on a DD, just serviceable.
Hey Peter, I think you have done a great job. For a guy who doesn't do bodywork it turned out pretty good. I run and own a Mechanical and Body shop we obviously would have done it different for a customer's car but I have done similar jobs on my own cars. Well done Mate. Cheers
Thanks for the words of encouragement!
Good job PT!
I love the car! I’m a sucker for a stock ride. I wouldn’t lower it. Maybe adjustable performance coils and keep the stock ride height if possible! I’m not a BMW guy but it is really pretty! Thank you for the video!
Love it gents
Keep em coming!
Keep up the good work boys
Appreciate the honesty! So many youtubers act like a pro, when they don't know $h!T. Now where did that Miata track upload go?
I have a AKG shifter in my E46 and it’s the best IMO
You should primer then bondo. That way you get a good seal on your metal.
Loving this, keep it up
might as well rebuild the f20c and stuff it in the bmw
BMW shift knobs come off easiest if the lever is put into 3rd gear position and then yanked into 4th while pulling upwards on the knob.
I've never seen a person so concerned about the appearance of an area that's gonna be covered completely up by a bumper
OCD kicking in a little too much
Speed Academy sorry I'm not a doctor lol
Just use 3M green and Blue polish, yellow foam, the result will be quite nice on old paint!
On the front air dam, I remember seeing like a place to put foglights, one on the left corner, one on the right corner, I believe your car had some front foglights, on the lower part of the front , it would look nice if they are in in the cutout holes on the air dam ,👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
Why didn‘t you remove the left taillight and overspray that rust spot? Wouldn‘t take that long 🙃
Yeah rust is pretty right? 😆
Because you cant see the bonnet when looking at the car side on I wouldn't touch the fenders. More good work guys.
@2:45 Man, Pete you have been on a roll lately! I hate it when I get snapped in the nut; I mean snap a nut! ;-)
Famous words..." Looks like a "stripper" did an okay job... there was just too much of that rubberized guard on there"..... @8:07 ....LOL....LOL
Forever jealous of those pacific blue sport seats, and the euro bumpers. Were they hard to find in Canada?
Oh its a rare find but keep your eye out on Kijiji!
Hey guys, you're doing an amazing job on this car. I am getting an e28 too and gonna attempt to rebuild it to a good condition, but i need some links to car parts resources on e28!. Any help is apprecieated
Short sharp tug on the gear knob
Try machine polishing the rest of the car it’ll definitely disguise the absolutely perfect hood
New sub here. Awesome content and super related to the project I’m working on. Literally the same car. Can you guys please do a quick video on how to adjust the valves?
Welcome and thanks for subbing. We havent adjusted the valves in forever but if we decide to do it a video will happen
I just love this car
Floors are looking beat up already! The first scratch is always the most painful.
What goggles are you using as safety glasses, cool idea
amzn.to/2PwHbTZ They are awesome!
Awesome, great price too. Thanks
Hey pete dont wory about you paint job, you should see my tacoma hahha
No burnout? You'd always finish a project with a burnout. Thats just mandatory 😉
You need to clear coat the painted rear. It wont last half as long with out!
Honda Fit build plz
What kinda seats are these?
I think you forgot something called clearcoat?
If anyone is about to do a restoration,,,,get yourself DINITROL-RC800 rust converter then paint over the top with por-15,,,,, I painted under the car then had to do it all again but this method worked a treat :)
Pro E28 Owner Tip: Rub the chrome on those tail lights with water and aluminum foil. Thank me later :)
Sorry but i feel the need to correct you on this. Aluminium foil is only a quick fix but it embeds aluminium into the chrome (not good in the long run).
Works great for plastic chromed items. Been doing it for years without any ill-effects.
When are we going to get more k swap 240 videos?
Working on it!
Speed Academy awesome, thanks for the reply, lots of love for your channel from NL.
Just an fyi- I need my s13 video fix!!! Lol
Don't know if it's the camera or the lighting. I do know it's not cause it's new vs. Old paint. But that hood is not the same colour as the car. Your missing a very small touch of blue in the paint match.
I hope no one watches this video in hopes of getting insight on doing a SSK install on their e28. This guys shows about 10% of what is involved with installing this SSK. Was kind of disappointed by the lack of detail this videos includes.
Hey guys, love the video.
Just have a couple of questions about the post you guys made a little while ago for a new exclusive member community.
Firstly, are you still going through with that? Haven't seen anything since.
Secondly, will this be a paid membership or something that's free just for dedicated subscribers?
Finally, honestly I can't think of a final thing, I hope you guys are both doing great and that you gain more subs because your videos are awesome! May be ass kissing but I love these videos and they give me something to look forward to. 😁
If you're talking about the YT member community, we'll be launching our soon. I think it's $4.99/month which is the set price by YT but we're cooking up some ideas to make it worthwhile!
Speed Academy Ah okay, thanks for the info! 😁
Paint the real panel proberly maaaan :) Too nice to be a 'beater'
Another one - DJ Khaled
Awe man you put that old ass roundel back on the hood?
please stop making excuses for yourself. keep up the good work
"Looks like the stripper did an okay job"
hehehe
Ok so what i dont understand is; with all the cars they work on and even the ones they own currently. Why in the world would he drive a heap like that?
race on the track, relax on the street
Building an enclosed space in which to spray paint doesn't seem like a good idea....
He replaced one Crapo wheel with a second Crapo wheel
holy oil leak
Lol wash the hood instead of painting the fenders
Third, noone cares 😭 speedacademy like my comment pls love u all
Rotary swap it
Who else came here to read the bondo comments?
I’m impressed there was none?! 😄
Its not much more work to fix those dents and get the lines crisp. You've gone to all that trouble and expense to repaint, why not put the extra couple of hours in to do a quality job, you seem to have all the tools and its not like its going to cost you any more money. This has become a growing trend in all your builds peter. I can understand your not good at body work and the car might not require a high quality job, but the more you do it the faster and better you'll be.
What you don't see if the schedules that we are working on. Trust me, if I had more hours in a day then I would have perfected that job. The reality is we struggle to put out 2-3 quality episodes a week, doing the work is half the battle, editing, ordering parts, running the business, etc. all takes up a lot of time too. If I could have spent another day working on the body work I would have but we are so behind on the projects that having to make concessions is just a part of the business. If the day comes when the revenue from YT is big enough that I dont have to hustle to produce so much content my builds will be much more oriented to detail. Till then, sadly this is as good as it gets.
Don't bore me with the details... Im going to have to send Al from the skid factory to teach you how its done.
