All these great bands out there and the media completely ignores them. Too busy bashing Trump I guess. Pretty sad because that kind of constant negative news really affects society in a bad way. Yeah Trump is evil, who cares, all of Washington sucks, so what, how about promoting positive shit for once like a band like Fleet Foxes, Grizzly bear and so many others that are putting out some really amazing positive stuff that puts people in a beautiful frame of mind instead of getting this constant shit information day in day out making people fly off the handle road raging, feeling depressed, committing suicide, turning to drugs and booze, focusing on hate, racism, all the ugliness of life, tearing down statues of all freakin things! Statues, as if Christopher Columbus statues are going to kill us all, it's insanity. Like John Lennon once said about the media: "You promote hate you get hate, you promote love you get love" It's so freakin' true. Hate comes from fear, you make people fearful they create hate, you promote joy, love, a celebration of life you get peace.
Please don't. Please, at least try to look at the world on a level deeper than surface. It's perfectly right to disagree with and be negative towards things. People have been "feeling depressed, committing suicide, turning to drugs and booze, focusing on hate, racism, all the ugliness of life, tearing down statues of all freakin things!" for as long as people themselves have existed. "Yeah Trump is evil, who cares...", really? That's your response to criticism? To just look the other way and ignore? Complicity is the absence of art.
With regards to Fleet Foxes, you're objectively incorrect. Their newest albums is VERY political. The track "Cassius, -" makes reference to the needless killing of Alton Sterling (Amongst others) and the subsequent protests following this,
"Song of masses, passing outside
All inciting the fifth of July
When guns for hire open fire
Blind against the dawn
When the knights in iron took the pawn
You and I, out into the night
Held within the line that they have drawn"
The following track, "- Naiads, Cassadies" talks about the mistreatment of women throughout the history of the human race,
"Fire can't doubt its heat
Water can't doubt its power
You're not adrift
You're not a gift
You know you're not a flower"
In addition, "If You Need To, Keep Time On Me" makes mention of the uncertainty of many regarding the election of Trump,
"How could it all fall in one day
Were we too sure of the sun?"
Just, please, think for yourself - don't assume that people are angry about things, that that makes them wrong or evil.

2nd verse from helplessness blues
"What's my name, what's my station, oh, just tell me what I should do
I don't need to be kind to the armies of night that would do such injustice to you
Or bow down and be grateful and say "sure, take all that you see"
To the men who move only in dimly-lit halls and determine my future for me"
Potty they seem to have lost their way. Too much going on - need to offload some of the musicians & get back to basics.
I didn't really get this album when it came out. But I revisited it recently on a quiet evening. It is a remarkable journey. Try to listen to the album straight through, maybe traveling alone somewhere late in the day, without thinking about how the tracks are delineated or structured, or where they are going. It's all a big journey that he constructed, with some breaks and some difficult parts, which serve to contrast and make the glorious climaxes all the more euphoric. I listened to it again straight away.
