- Hello and welcome to Lord Fenton Gaming Don't Panic series. I am your host Lord Fenton. In today's Don't Panic series I am going to be looking into the Original Diablo 1. I am not touching up Hellfire. In this Diablo 1 new player guide I will touch up classes, items including what enchantments, how the dungeon system works, some historical stuff, shrines, prefixes, suffixes, spells and more. Just remember the forces of hell might be tough but with this guide you'll move the odds in your favor. The copy I am using Note: It is the Good Old Games copy before the Hellfire expansion was added. Here is the link to the page however it has Hellfire still buy the game on Good Old Games aka www.gog.com. I don't get jack for it but still it's a classic. Here is the link:

Quickslot note: I forgot to cover this but it's easy. Take a potion, or scroll from your inventory and put it in the 1 to 8 slot. Than use 1-8 depending on what your potion or scroll is at if you need to use it. Really simple.
NOTE: I did cover everything as much as I can. The only thing I have not touch up on was LAN games and Modem connection. Modem is ancient news and only 1% might use that while LAN well you can LAN with 2-4 but Battle.net is better. If you can get on battle.net good otherwise use other methods to get online. I did the online part for historical notes for this guide.

Me and my cousin bought this game when it launched! And we didn't even know what the game was about just the box and game looked awesome! The thing that blows my mind is back then we had to upgrade the RAM to play I think we had 32mb and upgraded to 64mb of ram now I can play this game on my cell! Wild
It is really cool you can play it on modern PCs and have fun with it. I am glad it is on sale at GoG too which makes it cool.
Playing Diablo for the very first time, and decided to go with the original... so glad that this video exists for me!

Thanks Force Hammer Gmaing. The original game is great and really fun. Diablo 2 is better and felt best of the series. I avoided three after hearing the changes weren't really in line with the style of 1 and 2. Maybe someday I will visit it.

You can stair lock the Butcher by making him chase you around the staircase to level 3 until he walks into the center of it and just stands there with you on the other side

Thanks. I wanted to go back to this game to help others on it. If I get a good amount of hits I might do 2 close to the release date of Diablo 4.
I play the DevilutionX fan remaster it has hellfire but it lets you play just standard Diablo if you want I usually recommend that for new players as well
The version I did was the original release on GoG before it did get packaged with Hellfire. I will update the description.

Dex also adds to armor class and is used for damage on Rogue
I believe I mentioned it for the Rogues to has the best Dex in the game.
Download the psx version on psp. It's worth it
I heard things about the PS 1 version and the PC version. I also heard back in the day the PS 1 version takes a whole memory card to save. Sucks it's ultra rare. I would of love to see how it would of play with a PS 1 controller.
@@LordFentonGaming you just put it on the psp. You can play offline and mobile. Full mod support its great.
@@justme6094 or just download a ps1 emulator on your phone, get a controller. A tablet is ofc better for a bigger screen.
Ah yes legendary diablo. Awesome new player guide for Diablo. Diablo 1 and 2 was best ones. Diablo 3 was bit meh and i am waiting to see how Diablo 4 turns out
Thanks. This game I really wanted to do this classic as a Don't Panic guide. Maybe someday I will play an let's play of it. I agree that 1 and 2 owned while 3 I stayed away from after seeing too many changes I wasn't pleased with. Diablo 4 looks like it's going back to the Diablo 1 and 2 roots. I am hoping it is like that not on paper.

Back in the day the stuff they did in this game is great. Randomized dungeons with random loot (Well 90% random except the first two boss drops). It's a marvel and even today I look at it one of those games I am glad to play back in the day & today.

A very good example for video game development.
Armor class isn't for damage reduction, it decreases your enemy's chance to hit
Thus damage reduction. If they can not hit you they cannot do damage to you.

There has to be an original diablo spawn update to full blown diablo.
Im afraid not. The Diablo spawn version was used to entice friends to buy the full version after playing it.
I have a copy of Diablo 1 dont need the cd key but ive played only to the catacombs sadly I'll prob buy hellfire and play it
There is a Diablo + Hellfire on Good Old Games. That is the one I used. It comes with the original Diablo and Diablo+Hellfire expansion.

None of the classes suffer in the late game, it depends how you play them. In fact, sorcerers are very crippled in hell/hell, especially in levels with element immune monsters
I still felt the Wizards late game shine. You gotta figure your foes out. If you do than you know when to swap the type of spells. Warriors sure they can take the damage in hell/hell they gotta get in. Rogues do good in hell/hell due to range. Again got to get the pull right on all three on hell or you will get swarmed.
@@LordFentonGaming the worst levels for sorc are hell difficulty levels 15 and 16. You'll get advocates which are triple immune and often times soul burners which are triple immune. Forces you to use physical damage only to kill them
@@kphoenix137 I also hate sorc in those levels and i forgot wich one in one level there is so many range physicall damage also so annoying as sorc.

Higher difficulties dont offer better loot. They spawn higher base items sooner, however the affixes are exactly the same as normal
The higher difficulties do give better stats than normal otherwise people would farm normal to get what they need to storm hell. Thus the carrot to get you to do the higher difficulties.

It is and I love this classic. Figured this month was perfect time to post this guide for this wonderful classic. 2 I might do close to Diablo 4 release.
Mana shield reduces all incoming damage by 33% as a bonus
That is why Sorcerer uses it. To an extent Rogues and Warriors.
Rogues should always use mana shield when avaiable
2 things:
One - xx
Two - one of the undead in levels 1-4 can permanently reduce your max hp with melee attacks.
The first one I didn't want to spoil. I wanted to keep that a nice surprise. Two I think I did warn once or twice about Black Death stealing HP even though I didn't mention it by name.

Are you playing online or the Hellfire version? This is the single player version.
You can get nightmare and hell difficulties in single player by playing them in mp and switching to single player, its a bypass
That is a good trick to pull off.
Magic also increases your magical to hit
That is why Sorcerers should up that with items after the cap.
@@LordFentonGaming takes awhile to hit max magic. Sorcerer is very durable and the way I play sorc is only putting level up points into magic. All other stats are useless to a sorc. Vitality isn't needed due to mana shield, dex isn't needed because you dont engage in combat with weapons, and str isn't needed either. Higher tier gear with more str requirement just gives you more armor or more weapon damage, which aren't important. In fact while wearing the best sorc items in the game, you are in the low armor category

Where can I find my saved character from Multiplayer in original Diablo 1 without Hellfire? I am using Windows 7
It's in the original install folder of Diablo not the DX or Hellfire ones. The names are multi_0 sv , multi_1 sv and ect.
I don't have it. My diablo 1 patch is 1.0.0
@@kiSABREWULF007 The 1.0.0 ones were called dlinfo_0.drv and they were hidden files in Windows. Just make sure the folder is mark to see hidden files and it should be there.

Well since you like spell casters you should try Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the white witch, & harry Potter games but I like the rouge because players can battle smart & evade really bad traps & I am disappointed that you didn't get to explain how to use a shield as a warrior & I know how annoying peg leg Pete is he always takes more gold than you pay!
If I remember it's been awhile it is the shift key. Good for Rogues to hold in one place and shoot too. I did play Ni no Kuni both of them. Had a nice collection in the first game. Diablo 2 on the other hand I do prefer melee however range and casters are good as well with builds in the game.
Diablo are the classics
Big time classic and I was glad when GOG release this version out in 2019.
Where to store items in town
In Diablo 1 if your playing single player it is in town. Multiplayer it is on a mule character with help from a friend. They didn't have the box like in Diablo 2.
my level 7 warrior got wrecked by the butcher
A few things can help. First if you cleared any room with gates you can shoot or cast through it and not block any doors than lure him in that area. Close the door and shoot a bow or cast firewall from a distance. He'll run through the fire trying to get you or run around for you to pelt him to death. The second tactic is get potions like crazy and go one on one. Dangerous tactic and if it works you win. The last method is go back with a few more levels and better gear.
What do I do if there is no guy out front of the church?
It is a random so you just go on until you trigger a quest in single player. In Multiplayer on Battle Net the guy is always there.

@@-redacted-6240 You have to clear the dungeon. In Single player if no dead NPC in front of the church it should be 1-2 quests triggered. Good idea to clear a level than go back to town once you arrive in the new level to see any changes in town too for a quest.

That is the downside of Diablo 1 is that. About 10-15 years ago you could see people online. One time someone popped in and put up a discord message on good old battle net to join theirs for games.
So the sorcerer has much more gameplay
That and the other two classes too if you know how to exploit those classes.

Yeah, I can say playing warrior is ridiculously hard. I just started playing Diablo 1 for the first time and chose warrior. I'm on like level 10 and the hordes are just overwhelming. Like, I can't attack fast enough lol. Plus... Those damn night moon archers! They run just as fast as me and just shoot arrows and run into larger groups lmao.
That is the down side of the warrior yet you can sometimes equip a bow or lure them into an area where their running is limited. Still it's a really fun game.

You must of went into a cheater's game and that cheater used a 3rd party program to town kill you. Sucks it happened to you so avoid playing with people you don't know.

Only thing I didn't really want to give out is rest of the main bosses and the story unique foes that are random at times.

Diablo 1 is one of the great classics.
Playing this game with anything other than sorc is torturing yourself I wonder how would kids who grow up on Diablo 3 and 4 would like this game, I think they would give up after 1 hours tops and uninstall it
This classic is fun. Playing all three classes. The online I've it is great too in it's day. The generations growing up on Diablo 3 and 4 missed out the greatness of the first two. I've played through 3 completely and well felt like it wasn't the same as the other two. I will one day play 4 if I feel like it.
