Hi Mel, at about 16mins you find that jubilee clips leak the water. Greg Virgoe did a vid all about this, as his jubilee clips leaked water too. He shows us that jubilee clips have a design flaw, where they're not a perfect circle and have a notchy gappy part which fails to seal perfectly, even when really tightened up. What Greg did was to abandon jubilee clips, knowing he could'nt rely on them, and bought and fitted instead 'Fuel Line' clips, like you get on a cars fuel lines. Greg was very clever to observe that this type of clip was a perfect curve all round, making certain of a perfectly even seal. So very similar at first glance to a jubilee clip, but a very much superior design that can be relied upon 100pc. Greg fitted fuel line clips all thru, no worries! Love your vids Mel.
This is clever. Very inexpensive, very simple, straightforward and easy, and achieves a brilliant lovely shower. This is fab all round I reckon, and incredibly affordable. I think you're really smart sourcing these brilliant alternatives to megabucks mainstream stuff.
luvley jubbly........my ma's got garden hose fitting like that, in heatwave just gone....i stood in garden under it cold....was ACE!!! loved seeing one of your cats in this vid too.....loved ya lil singing to self at outtakes... :) *
Mel I have been, over a few weeks, watching all your old vids. I have to say that your confidence in front of a camera, camera work and editing have improve by about 5,000% Well done you!!!
Please take care! Anyone buying these heaters be aware you must use a rubber washer on the gas 1/2" inlet with PTFE tape or joint compound and it should be tightened little more than hand tight. DO NOT over tighten with a large wrench/spanner it will crack the aluminium gas fitting inside and fk up your new heater. Before use always do a bubble leak test on all gas fittings.
Mel I’ve been watching most of your step by step videos I must say mate absolutely outstanding I’ve had Mercedes vitos and transporters then a motorhome sold that last year and bought a static caravan but me and the wife miss the travelling getting itchy feet again to get another van to do up must say Mel cheers for the videos
Hey Nice Job! Nothing like showering off the gunk at the end of the day before settling to bed. I am redoing my galley area and need to leave space to later mount one of those gas water heaters so I can shower! Be Safe!
Only thing that would worry me is how your red gas pipe seems to bend your gas connector on your heater slightly to the right when you attach it. Hope that doesn't start to leak over time. Otherwise great fit. I already have a spray hose head like the green one you have there so that will be one thing less to buy and as you said it has lots of spray patterns on it suitable for several uses.
Hello thank you for your feedback and concern please don’t worry it’s a flexible fitting and I don’t leave it connected all the time only connected when I’m actually going to use the shower but you are absolutely rite I did cut the gas pipe a little shorter than it could have been the sprayer is fantastic it’s working out really well thanks again and good luck with your build 👍🤓👍
heat will rise from that flue, I think a bit of checker plate as a heat shield above the heater and maybe even under the bed for when you close the door, might be wise !
Interesting solution and good idea with the hose nozzle. I've got a trigger head thing on my shower inside. I watched in fear of you getting your kit off though!
Hi mel. For future reference, a little plumber's tip with the tap if you don't have any washers or tape you can use a bit of soft string as a seal .more or less string to get the right position of the tap. .ps vids are Brill
Another great video Mel. Informative and simple steps whilst being cheap at its best. The installation was very good and that garden tap is the one. The bloopers at its best lol. Have a good weekend.
Hi mel a great video really informative and entertaining as well great stuff and what a great bit of kit , for the money only one draw back I could hear the water pump in Dover lol , only joking I really enjoy your videos keep up the good work . Keep on keeping on Kevbo
Nice one Mel! Was going to order one of these, got it in my watch list but thought it was going to be a load of pony for 65 nicker. Ill use your link when I buy it and tell them Mel sent me! Cheers!! Great video ;)

Great video Mel. Love the little shower, I hope you have many happy showers now! I really like how you’ve thought about the safety of the gas inside the locker too. Cute cat helping you out fit the tap too 🐱🐱🐱 xx
Look a good un! However, don't wish to be negative but I take it you've checked gas regs as I was told you can't fit a quick connect to the vans internal installation only too exterior appliance gas bottles such as bbq's, stoves etc.
I think I'd support the y piece to stop it working loose! Also I find jubilee clips tighten better with a small socket and ratchet than a screwdriver! How about a board to stand in when showering?
Great piece of kit mel, as a gas engineer I'm a little bit concerned about the safety of your gas conections. Might be better getting a self sealing lpg cooker hose and fittings for the connection from the shower to your supply.
Then its a permanently fixed hose that can be trapped in the door. Mel can disconnect his and put it away in the gas locked. The only thing i would do different is put an 8mm Tee isolating valve in the cupboard so you have another way to secure off that gas extension. Anyway people have done the same shower mod as Mel for many many years without problems.
Hi Mel, I'd you take the tap off, wrap it with ptfe tape then screw it back on youll be able to position it to point down at your choice.. How I do them as a plumber
Wow think that’s a bargain for £65 :) seems to work well and worth getting that might be a good idea for me to wash my whips if they get dirty with that :) aww bless little kitty inspection on your handy work :) your van looking amazing every time I see it ;) it’s a beautiful little home. Always love your outtakes :) have been a massive inspiration watching your van build :) 😊
You can get shower heads for about £20 that the tiny holes in the head giving you a higher pressure using less water, they have “water softening beads” in them too
Very impressed, so much so that I followed the link straight away and ordered one for my van as well. So if it turns out to be a turd box your to blame!!😉
Can I make suggestion? That is to give yourself the water first, meaning run the shower head water into a basin then use the basin full of water with a jug and pour the water over yourself . This way you are only using the water that makes contact with your body and not running most of it off down the drain or on the floor. Also you wont waste water running it off to try to get the temp right you just have to collect the water in the basin and it can run a bit hot and then a bit cold as long as the end result is a basin full of water a good temp to get washed in. This is also better when you just want to wash your hair because you can wash it over the basin and save more water that way. Edit: Ah I didn't watch all the way to the end when you changed the shower head for an on off one. Anyway it was just a suggestion and could work for someone else.
Sorry mel meant to say i know your always up front with costs of materials and accessories bought, in video pump seems noisy? Have u thought of fitting bobbins, runbber insulators that should help with noise and vibrations? We use them on landrovers, if u think they would be helpful let me know i will send u 4 which should help with above, all the best john
Let me know how i can contact you mel, we use these on ace pipes which hold pressure for the active damping on corners, i will sent pic with dimensions they will bring pump out by approx 30mm and have screw thread either side to secure
Brilliant video... thinking of getting one myself. Question if you don't mind. Is the water flow from the 12v pump sufficient that the water doesn't get too hot for a shower? A few models I've seen videos for complain that the boiler is so efficient at heating the water that it's too hot and using the dials on the boiler don't reduce the heat enough to allow it to be used for showering.
Good morning Mel, I was just wondering what you used to connect the gas connection to your gas pipe. I can see a black pipe to the quick connect attatchment but not sure what it is. Many thanks x
Good evening the black pipe is just flexible 8mm gas pipe off my camping stove the green is the pipe that came with the outside tape kit think it’s 12mm hope this helps thank you for the positive comments 👍😊👍
Shower curtain idea I use a curtain with magnets that simply stick on the doors and no gaps. Great shower this is also great for outside kitchen etc And for £65 seems a real bargain . Thank you 😊 please NO live showering demonstrations

great vid Mel as a rule I use a 8mm socket on hose clamps buddy I have stabbed myself so many times with a screwdriver doing them up also did you spray your gas fittings with soapy water ,,,, Cheers Rob
Oh can you put a link to the gas alarm please? I've only seen devices which have a long pokey thing on which needs to be turned on and runs on batteries...🤔
Try wrapping a load of PTFE tape around that tap to see if that will help with the tightened angle of the tap. It’s a great idea but what was making all that racket?
Technically no but actually YES. Many of these smaller 6L heaters have a label on the front which states " Please make sure the ROOM is well ventilated before use" So you have to do some calcs 6L = 12kw of gas on full power but its only on for no more than 5 mins,. A double stove burner is 2kw plus 3 kw = 5kw plus oven 2kw = 7kw left all on for an hour unvented direct into the van to cook a sunday roast. The amount of nasty gas stuff is magnitudes higher cooking a roast dinner than 5 mins of these heaters. So either open doors/windows or turn your max fan on full. Now understand it wont pass any gas inspections as in the last 20 years van appliances must be vented outside. Many years ago caravan gas fires were unvented direct in to the van and people slept with those things long before CO alarms were invented. Of course now you back this up with a CO alarm. SO YES you can use these in a van with common sense and others and myself run mine inside van shower with this heaters. Mine is installed under the kitchen worktop and protruded 1" above the worktop cut out mounted on the shower wall. Its fully plumbed in with copper with isolating valves on each pipe. If you buy the larger heaters 8L and 12L with a flue connection 16kw and 24kw is way too much without a proper flu in a van as this size is fitted to a house.
Thank you so much for saying "water heater" and not "hot water heater". I wish ppl wld get it right. Much luck n love, live large!

Can I make suggestion? That is to give yourself the water first, meaning run the shower head water into a basin then use the basin full of water with a jug and pour the water over yourself .
Mel, do you recommend the LPG shower you have installed? If so, can you share the link please?
Absolutely brilliant I’m going to fit one in Rebeccas van too you will find a link in the description of this video also in my Amazon store 👍😊👍
