Thanks for the clear video. I didn’t get a replace battery warning and woke up to my model s completely unresponsive (not even able to doors). Instead of waiting 4 weeks for tesla service I replaced it in 1 hour, thanks!
Boy, Tesla didn't make it easy to replace a simple 12 V battery. Lots of steps and parts to remove. I'll just pay someone to do it. But great step by step video.
I was told by a service rep to 1. disconnect the neg. 2 disconnect the high voltage quick disconnect. 3 disconnect the positive. For connection, in reverse order.
Amazing Job. I just followed you and it was super easy. The only thing that I thought was easier to do was to remove the gasket when putting back on the lining Thanks for making the video.

Great video, Thanks. How’s the Ohmmu battery in model S so far? Looks like they have lots of issues in model 3/Y with Tesla firmware. Have you received any warnings on yours?
@@KirbyVandivort I had Tesla service come to my house to fix a bad charging connector, last year, who told me not to replace the 12v with Lithium. I can't remember the reason. I'd imagine they would last much longer than the lead ones, though. My car just started to tell me to replace the battery if I want it to get software updates. LOL.
@@airdoo I would imagine Tesla reps are going to not be fond of recommending anything other than what they sell. All I can say is that we are 3 years in and have had great luck so far with our Lithium Iron Phosphate. Best of luck!
@@KirbyVandivort Thanks for responding. I argued that LiFePo batteries last longer, but he said something about them burning out faster. I'm going to take your advice, though.
Isn't the charging curve and "trickle charge" for LiFePo4 much different that lead acid? How will your car know to adjust the charging profile to the improved 12 volt battery?
I'm not an expert on the internals of the battery, but my suspicion is that for the drop in replacement type battery such as this that they use a step up converter or something similar to increase the voltage to the appropriate level for the lithium ion battery characteristics versus the lead acid.
Thank you for your video. If i do the same as you will i need to program the car? For the new batteri? Will the waring light go away or do i need to get that fixed by tesla?
For me the lights went away and Tesla didn't need to do anything. I think I read somewhere that the cars a few years older needed to have something reset after the new battery went in but Tesla fixed that before mine was built.
Hi, once you replaced the battery, does it require to do something on screen to recognize the battery or it is just replace and go? Appreciate if you can answer

I put an extension cord in my driver's seat and had it hanging onto the floor so the door wouldn't close. I rolled down the window for extra insurance. Lots of steps, but they are pretty simple. It's that they hid the battery so deep in the car more than anything.
Comprehensive, clear and concise. Thanks!
Красавчик! Спасибо! Все очень просто и логично! Сообразил в конце , что выкручиваются резиновые клипсы-браво!
Thank you so much for this video!! I just followed step by step and it worked perfectly!
did mine with help of your video - great job strange thing was that my new OHMMU ENERGY battery was smaller then the orginal one.
So happy that the video was useful. Our (now not so) new battery has been working great.
I have to hand it to you. You did a good job.
Hopefully it helps someone out!

I didn't talk with any service reps, so others can use/follow this comment as they see fit. Thanks, Noah.

Glad it helped. UA-cam is amazing for making all of us into the mechanics and technicians we didn't go to school to learn. :)
good job, I think now I can do it. Thanks.

Thanks great video. If I missed it, forgive my question. Where did you get the battery and what was the cost?
Amazon or the battery company Ohmmu $499.
Thank you for making this video.
Glad it was helpful!
Great walkthrough! Thanks!
Great video! I’m going to try this soon. 😊
Ours has been working flawlessly since that time (which I would expect for years to come). Good luck.

No issues at all.

who design this? it is just a pain when you need to jump start! hard to replacing 12V too!

Have you noticed any improvement in your audio performance now that the nominal voltage is more consistent?
Sorry but we honestly don't use the car's audio very much. Based on our limited use we did not notice any difference.

now that you've had the lithium battery in for 2 yrs are you happy with its performance?
No issues, so I guess I'm happy!
How much did you paid for the battery?
Understanding that prices have almost certainly changed since we purchased: $419 is the answer to your question.
Thank you!.. this helped me a lot!!
I'm really happy to hear this! It takes longer to do, well, anything.. when you are filming, but I was hoping it would be helpful to someone.

This man did way too much work removing the frunk components. The battery isn't in the frunk, why remove that?!
We look forward to seeing your video where you replaced the battery some other way.
