    He's one of my favourite artists ever. This song is actually about his dad who died in the Rwanda genocide. Honestly he's one of those artists that use their life struggles as their inspirations and they always have a message in their songs no matter how sad it is like this one. I went to two of his concerts of his and I always had fun there.

    • @steefbon2526

      The song don't talk about her dad, but the absence of her dad and the impact in relation. The video choose to oriented this of absence of relationship between a son and her dad, in the angle of son and for a little part the angle of dad who want connect with his son. Finally he mean, worst your parent are... they teach you how live, express your emotion... and it's better than no parents.

    Something that makes this song so much more powerful is the story of his father. He was born in Rwanda and was a very successful architect. In 1994, when Stromae was 9, he was killed in the Rwandan genocide...

    As someone else said, his father actually didn't leave just because--he died and his mother always told him his dad was away at work to spare him the truth :( So hard though. What I love about his video too is how every actor was black. That's unusual in a music video (even rap and hip hop vids have white people). Very different.

    • @Pulsar77
      @Pulsar77 8 років тому +1

      Actually, his dad left years before he died. He died when Stromae was about 9, but Stromae had only seen him a few times before that. Also, the song is meant to be more than just about Stromae's personal life.

      I try to translate the lyrics in english:
      "How that sound "prood of you" in Senegaulois (new word create by Tété: for african second generation born in France) ? someone said that to me ?
      You can reply too me: "autant sur l'autel de mes regrets" means litteraly: your regret's altar proove there's nothing" but in a poetric way "parents deprived love that you need, and it's make you memory of regrets".
      How that sound "I love you" in my dad language ? Did i miss this lesson ? What can say my gene ? "Us too, that day perhaps we was on strike (or absent)"
      Chorus:
      The sweet Ritournelle (= it's a melody who haunted your memory) i heart voice of... Ritournelle... in my footprint (or walk)... Ritournelle... the blems (problem) the only dilemma it's... how could you said I love you without make a poem."
      It's only the first and the chorus. But you can discovery a great composer. The question is: How can express love ? real love with real acts...
