As a co this year, I've gotten so discouraged. 5 out of 6 boaters zeroed and I've caught 2 fish all year in a tournament. The message I've got from this video is to have the courage to respectfully suggest other options when we're dead in the water. I appreciate the positivity

I have fished 4 events in one of the MLFLW and I have zeroed every time. For me, it is about learning, and when I zero i pay attention to where we were as far as "docks, rock. etc." and I take notes every tournament. I have fished as a CO for almost 50 times. I have caught fish in half them, most of the ones i only caught 1 fish. Keep on doing it cause your day is coming, I hope mine does. I am a true CO, I do not own a boat.

@@rickgish6660 i hear ya. I'm still fairly new to bass fishing, but work hard to do my research, keep notes, practice, etc. And I co purely to learn from more experienced ppl. It's tough to learn when nobody in the boat is getting bit though lol

Success is never achieved with a poor/negative mindset… This video is great in highlighting the importance of having the right attitude and never stop working towards your short term or long-term objective(s). Opportunities for success come in small windows. Those who understand this stay positive and achieve greater levels of success in their pursuits. Very few people have complete control of their daily lives, make the very best of each and every day… especially if you’re fortunate enough to spend that time competing in a sport you’re passionate about. Success rarely comes without a fair share of failures along the way.
    Keep the video's coming Hallman.

Great Big Shout out to my fellow TEXAN Keith Honeycutt for sharing it too. Looking forward to the next one. A lot of good points. Practicing is good for what your boater is doing in that day but then you draw someone doing something completely different. Then you’re while game plan changes gotta be ready for anything.

This was really, really good. I fished as a co-angler for a bit and like your guest I did everything I possibly could to help my boater. Decided to go to the front of the boat this year. I always tell my co-angler that as far as I'm concerned this is a team event so let's work together. And like your guest I tell me co-angler if he has any ideas all he has to do is speak up.

Loved this video Brad. This is the kind of information that kicks your game up big time..
That guy just said the most important thing ive heard in a while.
IF YOU CAN TRAIN YOURSELF TO FISH WITH THE TACKLE IN YOUR BOX, YOU ARE WAY AHEAD OF THE GAME.
God is he so right!! I mean lets face it,!
The reason its in there is because it works..
    Right??
Use the damn stuff. I couldn't drive past a tackle shop without stopping.
I had one of those old 75o series' plano top loader boxes with all the drawers .
I was loading up the boat one evening getting ready to go the next day and i grabbed the handle and went to lift it into the boat and the handle had completely pulled out of the lid it was so jambed with everything that it was overwhelming to open and look through. Lol lol
Well when it broke and all that crap came out of that box, i couldn't believe my eyes.
I reorganized and down sized my box. I
Thought to myself, why haven't i been throwing this or this... Your always looking for something new and different. But, its the old reliable stuff that got you here to begin with..

I’m late to this party. But great great video. I been thinking a lot about co angling at some of these bigger trails. It’s really not about winning or whatever more of a big learning deal. But still like to have a chance to win or do good. And I always had that perception the boater can make or. Break someone. I have a boat and always hatted fishing behind someone but the more I do it the better I get.

Man thank you, what a great video! I’ve been tournament bass fishing for many years and quit for around 15 years to work and raise my boys. 4 or 5 years ago my boys got a high school fishing team started in their high school and I became their boat captain. All that tournament competitiveness came back stronger than ever. My boys have graduated, I’m still a boat captain for the high school and fish a local team circuit loaded with a bunch of hammers and I’ve been thinking I might wanna stretch out and fish from the back of the boat and see if I can compete with the youngsters. This video convinced me that’s what I’m going to do next season along with still being a high school boat captain! Thanks again for your co angler series and the rest of your fishing content, love your channel!

Good stuff again, Stone Cold Hallman. I do some of what Keith talks about but I need to keep the focus and fish my own tournament all day and not just part of the day. Stepping backwards to a co from being a boater has helped me a ton. I was too scatter brained on the front and worrying about too much. Being on the back has changed my mentality on the front. I'm much more relaxed and focused. Still have a bit more to go.

Great video, thanks Bradley for really trying to help us co’s. I have my own boat but decided in 2019 to do BFL’s as co to learn all I could, really enjoy it so far and it’s helped me as an angler so much. What Keith said about co’s being able to catch more fish from the back than their boater really hit me , I have had that same thought but he worded it just right. I have learned that i’am not competing with them but I feel I’ve done well when I have caught fish behind them. I’ve had some good draws and found myself at other times wanting to fish differently than what the boater wants to do, but just putting my head down and grinding to the last minute. That makes me better by adapting to something that I’ve got to make work.i can tell your really genuine about what your putting out for us guys, keep it up please.

I've never fished as a co angler, but after listening to this interview I believe if I did show up for practice it would be for one reason and one reason only, to get to spend some time with these guys, I would do it for that reason and not let practice get in my head if I drew a pro that wasn't doing what the guys I practiced with were doing.
