Berberine is Phellodren Amurense. This supplement was once sold under the name Nexrutine, however, that was discontinued. I take it for sciatic pain due to a disc issue. Great product.
@NansGlobalKitchen In addition to Berberine I take Turmeric; glucosamine-chondroitin with boswellia included. These can also be taken with acetaminophen. I also take Cissus (occasionally). I call this my morning cocktail. Notice your sleeping positions also. Good luck.
That's good too know. I have horrific sciatica pain, both sides. I was always thin, after COVID Dr out me on thyroid. I gained 20lbs I exercise, tried eating greens, the entire diet. Nothing's worked. I have low LDL, HDL, Triglycerides, and low protein, low blood pressure, and low very low cortisol levels. I don't know what to do. Ready to give up. Thank you
It could be the type of meal you’re eating, as well! If you’re taking it only once a day, use dihydroberberine: it is more effective, lasts longer in the system (regular berberine only lasts a few hours in the body), and it causes less of the GI upset that regular berberine does.
I'm now on VA Health care in the US. Very sadly, the turnover of primary care doctors at the facility I go to, is really high. I've had 3 different primary care doctors bitch at me about my a1c and try to put me on metformin. I've told all of them that I'd rather try Berberine, and that studies have shown it's supposedly as beneficial as metformin with NO side effects. The only doctor that even bothered to write it down, is the newest doctor I have.
Good info, I love black seed oil. Berberine has been a welcome addition to my daily supplement intake. Can't go wrong with the numerous benefits. Really enjoying your channel btw. Thanks
Dihydroberberine is considered the best form of berberine: it’s more effective and it lasts longer in your system (regular berberine lasts like 2-3 hours). It also has less of the GI upset side effect.
I started taking dihydroberberine and to me it’s less effective. I actually felt the regular berberine working and reducing my post meal glucose. I feel nothing with this one
I included berberine with a carnivore diet with intermittent fasting (1-2 meals a day). The weight is falling off. My gut inflammation is gone, acid reflux gone, sleep apnea gone. Mood is stabilised. I take berberine when I break my fast around 1pm. I take it with raw milk, quercitin, a multi vitamin and a high fat meal such as steak and eggs with cheese. The fat helps with absorption. Feeling superhuman.
Last summer I got Dr Childs program for losing weight when its hard for you to…i read it though and based on it I 1) stopped eating foods with seed/vegetable oils 2) started taking berberine - at first berberine nauseated me but I started taking WITH food and within weeks my food preferences changed-BACGROUND: I have been a sugar addict since I was a small child-. I lost my sugar craving! Also I just wanted smaller bites! And I felt more energetic. My mother-in-law is 88 with Alzheimer's Disease (diagnosed 8 years ago). She is a type 2 diabetic. We started her on berberine two weeks ago and have seen tremendous results. She is more coherent, energetic, walking better, fasting sugar levels are getting lower, the list goes on. My question is, should her insulin be lowered if she is taking the berberine 2x daily? We can't have this discussion with her physician because she does not believe in supplements
There are websites instructing people on how to calculate insulin and show how to count carbs and adjust insulin for carbs consumed and blood glucose reading prior to a meal. Some are easier to follow then others.
Going keto is another way to improve brain function. If she does not want to go keto start on 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and mct oil a day working up to 4 times per day. Add high doses of bentofiamine but start with a lower dose add b2, b3, and b complex. Add magnesium supplements from 320mg standard dose magnesium threonate works on the brain other wise magnesium bis/glycinate will do. Add omega 3 high dose liquid😢 formula 3 tablespoons a day, zinc, iodine or fish every day for 1 meal, canned sardines are good, selenium, get pottassium from leafy greens and 7 cups. Add cruciferous vegetables and fermented foods. Add vit d3 upto 10000 iu per day. Sitting in the sun does not usually help older women re vit d but sitting surrounded in a shady area looking at light reflection from green plants helps melatonin levels. Vit k2M-7 200 to 300 mg per day. Pre and pro biotics salt and lacto fermented foods see yt for receipie. Finally add calcium foods and multivitamin multivitamin.

The brand I ordered from Amazon before watching the video only contained 16% Berberine. I canceled that order then ordered Swanson.
Started 500mg berberine twice a day about 6 months ago. Im in my 30s, but my memory and mental health have improved noticeably. I've had an awful memory and struggled with depression since I was a kid, but now I have a great memory. Ive taken breaks from berberine and within a week or two I feel my mood and memory regressing. My A1C went from 5.1 to 4.6 although I have not lost any weight. Interestingly I no longer get tired after a large meal. My joint pain has improved. Overall, I have been pleasantly surprised and am curious if berberine is safe to take long-term?

BERBERINE vs DIHYDROBERBERINE? Haven't seen the question addressed. The latter is apparently much more bio-available and without digestive side effects. Hoping Dr. Childs can expound?
As Dr.Childs is a thyroid doctor, I think he would have mentioned if you can't take it with levo. Warfarin, No clue. I hope Dr.Childs answers your question.
Berberine causes muscle atrophy and DNA problem. I have muscle aches for days and counting after starting with 500mg HCL and brain fog probably due to lower glucose. There seems to be no way of raising back my glucose level.
It can cause diarrhea in the beginning. But don't stop taking it as the problem will stop after a few days and don't take any thing to stop the diarrhea, just tough it out!
I took berberine for about six months at around an 18 to 1900 mg dose total a day with each meal. I had heard that the side effect was elevated liver enzymes. I did liver tests and found that after six months my liver enzymes were elevated. What do you know about these concerns and results?
Milk Thistle Seed capsules are KEY to a healthy liver & REDUCING harmful elevated liver enzymes. Be strick about avoiding Omega 6 fats from diet! Fried foods are DETRIMENTAL. Also, research the niacin flush/activated charcoal detox. It WORKS! This will fix it! 👍
Berberine might increase the amount of metformin in the body. This may increase its effects and side effects. This interaction seems to occur when berberine is taken around 2 hours before metformin. Taking berberine and metformin at the same time doesn't appear to increase the amount of metformin in the body.

My Doctor just recommended this for me… 500 mg a day at first, for a week, then 500mg 2x a day, for another week, then 500 mg 3 times a day. I am diabetic, and hypothyroid.
I’m going to start 450mg once a day. I also take Metformin. I am non diabetic and I lost 55 pounds. I did not lift a muscle and I lost it. I did stop craving sweets and sodas. I’m starting the berberine for acne.

I'm insulin resistant, type 2 diabetes gone through keto (down 100lbs) after yoyo dieting for 50 years and failing and I've had IBS D for over 20 years. I feel very let down by my doctors
Honestly, you are let down by regular doctors! They don’t do their own research. They “trust the science” and we know that the science is bought by the pharmaceutical industry. They own/control and manipulate the “science“ that your doctor uses to inform her practice. Unless you see a naturopathic doctor, your care is going to be very limited!
I have heard it is supposedly fine either way, but a lot of people also seem to experience unpleasant GI symptoms if they don't take it with food. I am using dihydroberberine now - the dosage is lower because dihydroberberine works more efficiently - and the bottle says to take it with food.
Just found your videos doc... so impressed with your concise approach. Anyway i read somewhere that berberine may be an immunosuppresant. Can you kindly confirm this. Thank you so much for your informative videos and i hope to hear from you.

I've been taking Berberine (You need to take it with either Milk Thistle or Bio-Perine to get the full benefit of it) for 5 years. It doesn't make me hurt the way that Metformin does. But, neither has it fixed the weight gain, the Syndrome X, the cholesterol issues, the Fibromyalgia, the migraines or the diabetes. Even with a Keto diet. Even with taking 2K mg or more for months at a time. Don't expect that everything will work for your body the same way it works for someone else. We are all different people, no one size fits all. I continue to take it, in the hope that things don't get worse (some things still have), so best luck to you all.

In addition to Berberine I take Turmeric; glucosamine-chondroitin with boswellia included. These can also be taken with acetaminophen. I also take Cissus (occasionally). I call this my morning cocktail. Notice your sleeping positions also. Good luck.

I avoid Drs because they only treat symptoms with drugs. Drs don’t know much about prevention or nutrition.

I included berberine with a carnivore diet with intermittent fasting (1-2 meals a day). The weight is falling off. My gut inflammation is gone, acid reflux gone, sleep apnea gone. Mood is stabilised.
It would be lower with 2x the dose but can also need to check tolerance of higher dose.
Can you please share what brand of Berberine are you using? Thankyou in advance!
