Thank you John for all your videos. I have been watching you for about 3 years now. Thanks to you, I have done 2 quite big weddings in Devon now for 2 close friends and everything was based on your wonderful teachings. I did detailed hair combs, bouquets, display items and buttonholes, etc and had some truly amazing comments. I thought of you. My secret teacher. I can’t thank you enough. Hope you know how special you are x
Thank you so much - that is really the best feedback, and sharing how to create designs and hopefully helping people at whatever stage they are at in their learning journey, was really our aim. So to hear this feedback is just perfect. You obviously enjoy the creativity that flowers bring - so please keep creating and designing 😀🌼🙋🏼♂️
I find your videos absolutely inspiring. As an amateur florist with no training, even I have been able to make something fairly beautiful by following your tips and advice. Thank you!
Watching all your videos has inspired me to grow some of my own foliage. I've decided to grow two types of pittosporum in pots on my patio. Maybe add ivy to it as well. I love this design and it's given me an idea for a party coming up.
Hi John! You had me at "ivy"! I love the way you've used it here, along with the inclusion of the other greens. With you, I might have been satisfied with the "all green" arrangement. However, the finished product is exquisite, and would do any table proud. Hope you and all are well.
@@FlowerJoos following the remnants of the hurricane that went through a week ago, we are enjoying near perfect weather. Happy to know you are as well.
My task in college today is a long and low arrangement and I can guarantee I will have to make it in a certain way which I will pull apart once I’m home so I can do this instead! I even have the same foliage and flowers (apart from gladiolus) in the same colours.
@@FlowerJoos it won’t be, it’ll be very regimented. I work like you in a much more relaxed way with a true feel for natural sculptural beauty. I too don’t care if it bends this way or that with some arrangements. Nature in a container as opposed to poker straight foliage etc. I love your work John, it’s fab.
A really beautiful arrangement John. I love the use of the ivy and the way you have kept the arrangement quite neat. It would be great for the top table at a wedding. More ideas! Wonderful x
😍I love this kind of arangements and you make them really beautifully because I'm 👀 you 😄 my favourite green is eucaliptus but ivy is nice and useful as well thanks to its shape.
@@cindyseeley2 I have seen that done with jars or tubes and it looked great - you would not have known - maybe worth creating your own bespoke reusable arch frame? Good to have options 😀🙋🏼♂️
@@cindyseeley2 pin Van Akkar made an all p,attic orchid tube base - added chicken wire to a cheap arch, then added a lot of tubes then light greenery ( smilax ) then a lot of big roses - it was stunning . Jam jars version good for a full garden style arch, but more heavy so need a stronger frame 😀
Hello - you can make the length to suit - the only thing that restricts it is the length of the materials themselves. Yes, this would be suitable in a church - for an altar you can make it more one-sided, and even cascading a little so it can sit on the edge of the altar. 🌼😀
Thanks for your reply. One thing about your channel is that you are down to earth and easy to understand. You have great ideas that would help new and professional floral designers. In your videos you cover basic things like weddings, cold glue corsages, funeral sprays, every day, holiday, and some over the top designs. See some ideas from, Floral Design Institute
The Floral design Institute is superb - I know someone who did their online course and it was well structured and clear. Saying that, she really put the work in - and that’s the case with everything! Leanne is very nice to watch and when they do a live session it’s good to be part of the community! 😀🙋🏼♂️
Hi Ann, it’s just the standard blocks we use. They come commercially in a box of 20 - and each block is 23cm x 10.5cm x 8cm. Then you can cut to whatever size you like if needed 😀🌼
I'm currently making my own wedding flowers arrangements with dried flowers, I was wondering what the best approach is for travelling to the venue with these large arrangements? I'm so scared when I get there the design will be completely ruined 😢
How do u attach a flower swag to a corner of the bride table no one shows video of this after you put your tablecloth and a swag across front how do I attach flowers to this please help
Hi there. If I was adding a garland along the front of a bridal table I woukd pin it on using pearl headed pins - so nice strong ones. At the points you want to attach take little stitch into the cloth with the pin on the top edge, then add the garland and pin back into the cloth. The pin sits vertical catching the garland and the point is at the back facing down. That is fir more of a rope style - for heavier garlands it might require extra pinning from behind in other areas.
It would be great to organise your videos into an actual course for new and old designers. Reasons : You are a great down to earth teacher. Floral Design Institute offers online courses that have been very successful. You do many different types of design, really all basic designs that new and old designers could use as basic skills for new designers, and/or update old designers..
This is something we have discussed! But make specific material aimed at different levels - and different too the videos on here ( or why would you subscribe 😀). That’s great to hear that from a viewer 😀🙋🏼♂️🌼 But maybe we organise the ones already here as well 😀
Floral Design Institute has both basic in person courses as well as on -line courses. Like you they have projects each week free. I am an old designer, a graduate of Rittners Flower School (Boston, MA (1964). Feel free to email me directly.
I love Rittners! Their videos are great 😊 and again on UA-cam so anyone can access and learn. I think I’m old school as well, my first boss was very classic with her lines and form. Thank you for reaching out and supporting us 😀🙋🏼♂️
Thank you - yes, we do want to take this on board. There are a couple of new versions from Oasis coming out just now - one is very similar to the Agra wool and the other is looking interesting as well. The best situation will be an eco version that is fully compatible and useful commercially. A lot of alternative options are less commercial but ideal for home use. 🌼🙋🏼♂️
Lovely John! My coworker and I have said all greens and just a few blooms is all we want on our last caskets.
That’s a nice choice - natural and understated but perfect 💕

It's beautiful! When do you usually prepare this? Can it be done a day or two before the occasion? How long will it last? Thanks!
