- How to make a large pedestal design with fresh flowers, featuring roses, gladiola, lilies and delphinium.
Ingredients - delphinium, white gladiola, oriental lily, white Naomi roses, white gerbera, white cymbidium
Foliage - Italian ruskus, Phoenix palm, eucalyptus, trailing ivy, variegated euphorbia
This large floral display would be perfect in so many settings - for a wedding or event, in a large country house, maybe in your house!
We have used some beautiful flowers, but you could change the contents to get a different effect. We just loved the contrast of the delphinium blue with the shades of white from the others flowers. And the stem of cymbidium orchid gives a nice highlight. Watch and see how we constructed the design. Enjoy!

Thank you! I am going back onto my Church Flower Rota after nearly 18 Covid-safe months, and this video has reminded me of just how to make a good display! The problem now will be finding some decent flowers, my local supermarket's supply has shrunk by a good two thirds since the beginning of 2021. Never mind, foliage is beautiful in its own right!

With pedestal arrangements I often use 1 big pedestal cube of foam. Saves on using and cutting several small blocks.

Thank you! I think commercially foam works most efficiently just now - hopefully they can come up with a very similar alternative. But I can see us doing a big design like this foam free in a future video, the challenge is the drop with the flowers, but it can be done!

hello! Can you confirm the dimensions of the large oasis tray? Also, any concern about tipping with the vessel being so light weight and low? Thank you!
Hello 👋 the tray is approximately 40/45 cm square - but I think they discontinued this style, which is a real shame as they were great for larger designs. But any shallow tray that is strong is fine.
The weight of the oasis with the water will hold a large design no problem - especially 4 blocks used. But you are right, if materials are added that really come forward then it might be unstable. So either add a bit of weight by adding material to the back, or the tray can be taped to the stand or onto a steel plate to add more weight.

I have looked and looked for plastic stem wrap. What brand do you use?
Parafilm is the one we use. It’s plastic, but not gummy like the paper versions, so if you have a lot of stem taping to do you don’t get held back in any way.
