    A lot of good points. I agree a manual as a daily driver is sometimes a chore. I drive a stick Mustang GT in some of the worst traffic on the East coast around Washington DC. More often than not, that means stop and go traffic. There are times when my left leg gets cramps and or just gets worn out. (63 years old). But I still drive the stick every day. Why? Because I like rowing through the gears, and the control you have over power bands and RPMs. I don't track my vehicles, nor do I pay any attention to the punks driving their rice grinders wanting to check off a win against a vette on their resume's. Who cares. I also think a manual transmission is one of the best anti theft device known to man. PLUS, it keeps the wife and kids out of the driver's seat. My car is MY CAR.

    I prefer a DCT over anything any day. I had a Performante last year and it was awesome. I also had a 2014 Viper and it was fun to row the gears at the track. But the faster shifts with that V10 behind your head is a great feeling. Can't wait to see what my C8 will be like.

    I grew up in the rockies. The first winter I drive a manual I swore I'd never go back to an automatic if I could help is. Safest way to drive imo.

    I’m a manual guy. I have nothing against automatics but it’s not for me! I agree that if the C8 doesn’t offer a manual I’ll pass. I do understand that supply and demand drive the market in the argument for automatics but let me have an option of a manual transmission. The excuse of no room for a pedal in the C8 for a manual is one of the most ridiculous excuses from an engineer I have ever heard! Great video and it’s good to know I’m not the only one who likes manuals transmissions!

    Yes Sir. Agree 100% that’s why I row my own gears.. I could care less about drag strip or traffic. My first vehicle I purchased was a 89 Nissan hardbody truck with a 5 spd manual. Loved it. Floppy paddles just don’t do it for me.

    Hi Justin. I literally just finished watching and commenting on your video of July 27, 2108 about buying a used Vette, trying to catch up on your postings before I subscribed. In short, my one comment was "I knew I liked you" when I saw your ZO6 was a manual. lol Then I saw you had the Carbon Ceramic brakes and now I see you have the race seats. Guess I'm now a subscriber for life. LOL
    I often joked, but was half serious when I said the only time I'm buying an automatic is if I need a new hip or knee. Unfortunately, the car manufactures are just about at the point where they've decided I need an automatic. That's kinda like one's Mother saying you can't have a bee-bee gun, you'll shoot your eyes out, or you one's kids telling you that you can't walk anymore, you're only option is a wheel chair. Eh, I DON'T THINK SO! lol
    "Back in the day," (boy I hate that phrase) when I had to walk six miles to a one-room school house in the blistering summer heat and sub-zero winter temps, the autos were known as slush boxes and they were slower than the manuals. Maybe they could keep up, barely, with a manual three-on-the-tree, but never with a manual floor shifter. As to anyone saying an automatic is just a "girl's" car, well, I have a daughter who'd like to have a word them. I taught her on an old '67 Beetle, she then bought a manual Toyota Celica, then a manual Ford Mustang and then we both ended up with manual 300 Zs. I then showed her how to power shift, which I guess you guys refer today as "no lift shifting?" because she knew I used to quarter mile my C3. She couldn't understand how two Identical Vettes, both with manuals could have such different times. Of course there are a lot variables to explain, but the main one I told her was which driver could "power shift" the best. Well, that did it, she immediately had to know how to power shift. And, since "ignorance is bliss," I was not going to ask why she wanted to know. lol Unfortunately, with today's horsepower, power shifting is not going to end too well unless you have a lot of suspension work done, especially in the Vette. Of course one can develop a pretty good technique with speed shifting and I guess the proverbial acorn did not fall far from the tree. My daughter still beats me more times than not in the 1/4 mile. I love her, but she's no longer in the will. LOL
    Thanks for "listening" and Save the Wave, but keep one hand on the wheel when doing so.

      I'm with ya. The cars aren't going to be the same without that manual option no matter how good the autos are. It's a shame but it's "progress" apparently. I appreciate the stories and knowledge you bring to the comments section so keep it coming!

    I know this is two years old but I thought about the race you had with streetsppeed717.
    One. now that you have a short throw shifter
    Two. C7 manuals are designed to do power shifting
    Can you do a video with your zr1 doing power shifting?
    Also, the suspension control system from you z06 now comes with a drag race setting.

    • @HorsePowerObsessed
      @HorsePowerObsessed  4 роки тому +1

      The shifter would definitely make it easier to bang gears now. That race with street speed was when I had just hit 500 miles so I wasn't pushing it to it's absolute limits either.

Mines is a 19Z M7 3LZ with the Z07 package in Torch red with black interior with red stitching. And of course the competition seats 💺 lol. I love ❤️ it. I will always buy a manual if it’s available. Already saving for the future C8 Z06 or ZR1 lol

    I owned a 2015 C7 Z51 Manual....after a few years of loving it, I had a crave for more power, and I honestly...I found times when I found my manual annoying. I ended up trading for 605 HP Audi S8 Plus...and thought that I could have the best of both worlds: tons of power, and automatic...with 4 doors. I was WRONG! Don’t get me wrong...I like my S8, but I started missing my Vette. I realized, that I must have at least TWO cars (one to drive daily, and one for fun once in a while...)...it was hard for me to satisfy with one car. I was able to rent an A8 Z06 for two days, and quickly realized I loved the power...but severely missed my Manual! I also felt that A8 ran hot, and read that the manuals have better cooling on them (especially 2017 and up). I am in the market for a Manual C7 Z06, 2017 and up. Great video..thanks for posting!

    Amen brother, I feel the same way, give me a manual any day,if I we're racing, or needed to worry about time, then I would go with an automatic, but when you're cruising or out on a back road nothing like that manual shifting! Question for you, targa top or convertible?

    • @HorsePowerObsessed
      @HorsePowerObsessed  6 років тому

      Targa top for sure. Love having basically the same thing as a convertible without the "downfalls" of the convertible. What do you think?

      Convertible for me, I'm old school Corvette, love that wide-open air feeling, had a 94 convertible 6 speed manual, getting ready to purchase a 19, either ZO6 or Grand Sport!

    Why do u think even automatic cars have a tachometer? Because it's cooler! Makes u feel that you're a
    great driver and driving a performance car. Plus, it's one of the few things that you can control and watch
    the needle spin. Electric cars don't have a tach so they're boring.
    Get a manual transmission and you get to control even more things to make more fun!
