    I am almost 70 year old man, just started doing crafts, I bought a cheap glue gun and it backed up the first time I used it. I decided on a Gorilla gun, then I saw your video and now I want to get a full sized one, not the mini. I saved this so I can check out your other videos, thanks, love your energy.

    You are seriously underrated, I see the effort you put into answering every single comment in your videos. And its worth of a subscriber and likes.
    By the way I also have a cheap glue gun rated for 40 w which is definitely low and hence the glue coming out is extremely viscouse but I accept that it was my mistake to buy a lower wattage glue gun but apart from that fact the gun keeps on dripping glue from the nozzle when it is plugged in but the trigger is unpressed which ultimately makes a puddle of glue under the nozzle and I am trying to find a glue gun that can prevent it.
    Even to figure out what was the problem and why was this leakege I disassembled and reassembled my glue gun but ended up to find a PTC ceramic resistor attached with nozzle of the gun😅 and that's all, no leak protection mechanism and nothing .

      Thank you for your encouragement!
      Dripping glue guns can get so annoying but I am impressed by how you took it apart looking for the issue. In my experience, even the most expensive glue guns drip a little bit right after you use them but the drips go slowly and cool down before they reach the table. This Gorilla glue gun has and "anti drip" nozzle which means there is a ball-valve mechanism in the nozzle (I think).
      Good luck on all your future projects!

    Question Of The Day: 💡❓ What glue do you usually use?❓💡
    - I like to use hot glue for cardboard and a variety of crafts but I occasionally switch to liquid Elmer's glue and stick glue depending upon the project.

      That is great! I think there were multiple "packages" that you could buy and it cost some extra to get the glue sticks. Ether way, it is great to get glue sticks with the glue gun and if you still got it around $15 then I would say that that is an amazing deal.

    I almost bought this, but then I saw the packaging say it is only 14 watts! The other typical guns I have are 40W and up. It concerns me that some high-strength applications take more heat than this thing can put out.

    • @MakerBrain
      @MakerBrain  2 роки тому

      Thanks for commenting, Rand. I was not fully aware of the "normal" glue gun wattage, but this one seems to be comparable to many other glue guns. I do not do construction -level gluing, but this one (especially on the high setting) works well for everything I do... Mostly cardboard. I am glad you brought this up though.

      Thanks Eli. I was drawn to this gun because of the large trigger, hoping that means good control. A lot of the old guns I have stop feeding the stick well and require pushing the stick in manually - done with that. I need one that provides nice control purely by the trigger lever. But I also need it to heat more for some materials. Still searching....

    • @MakerBrain
      @MakerBrain  2 роки тому

      That is a good question, Lalitha. I haven't looked into how the wattage of a glue gun affects the glue flow but the Gorilla hot glue gun that I use in this video is rated for 14 Watts and the glue flows just fine. Nevertheless, here are a few things that you might want to consider:
      1.) The type of glue stick that you are using. Some glue sticks are better than others. Also, if you are trying to use a High temp glue stick in a low temp glue gun it will not flow very well. Here are the glue sticks that I am currently using: amz.run/4opT
      2.) Is the glue gun clogged? if you used some bad glue sticks or the hot glue back-flushed into the cold part of the gun it could impede the flow of the glue.
      3.) The voltage rating of the glue gun. Mine is rated for 120 Volts which is the USA standard but other countries use different standards (often around 230 Volts). What that means is that if you have a glue gun that is designed to use 230 Volts but you live in a country that uses a lower voltage standard (like that USA) that glue gun will not be able to get up to its full wattage and therefore not heat up as much. *I have never encountered this issue before, but if you bought your glue gun from an odd place this is more likely.
      I think that 12V should be enough to have a pretty good flow of glue but your 60 to 100Watt should work really well. I don't think that there is a hard cut-off for how many watts a glue gun should pull just keep in mind that higher wattage usually = higher temperatures, stronger bonds, and more of an industrial-level glue gun.
      Here is an article that states that 10watt and up should be able to take care of most crafting needs: www.bobvila.com/articles/best-glue-gun/#:~:text=Q.%20How%20many,repairing%20adhesive%20needs.
      God bless you and have a very merry Christmas!

    I just bought this gun and bought the wrong size sticks and now its clogged. Any recommendations?

    • @MakerBrain
      @MakerBrain  2 роки тому

      Hmm, I wish I could help more but there are a few ways that a glue gun can get clogged. The glue could have melted and then slid back in the barrel of the glue gun and then cooled. Because it is so far back when the gun heats up again it won't melt the glue and the gun is clogged. If that is the case, I might try turning the gun on and pointing it straight down towards the tip in the hope that the glue melts and slides into the hot area. You could also try to push it towards the nozel with a popsicle stick or something. You can also use a small metal wire and push it in through the nozzle to try to clear out anything that is jamming it up. This would also solve the problem if there is some particle that is simply clogging the nozzle and in the way of the glue getting through.
      I hope this helps!

    But just recently I was given a few glue sticks from someone and they told me they were gorilla glue sticks but I tryed it on something using a bic lighter to melt it with but after I got it to stick and let dry I tested it but it easily pealed right off not like the gorilla glue sticks I've used in the past so what do you guys thank do you think they are not real gorilla glue sticks? And is it possible to figure it out like do they look any diffrent then reguler glue sticks?it's been so long sense I had gorilla glue sticks so I can't remember myself so would seeing how they work be the only way to test and see if they are real ones or can I tell any other way?

      That is a good question, Jonathan.
      I don't think that there is any way to tell the difference between two kinds of glue stick if they look similar. However, I have never actually used Gorilla glue sticks... I like to use AdTech 10in glue sticks that I get in bulk (amzn.to/3X6nxRC). It is possible that it didn't stick very well because you didn't use a hot glue gun to melt it. The bic lighter might not have heated it up as much as the glue gun or perhaps the direct heat from a flame did something to the adhesive chemicals in the glue.
      Hope this helps,

    Man if this gorilla glue gun works like gorilla glue sticks work then I have to get one some day I used gorilla glue sticks in the past and was amazed with how well they worked especially compared to reguler glue sticks which sucks so badly especially on the kinds of projects that I usaly am doing I can't remember for sure but I think when I used them I only had eather a lighter or a torch lighter and I don't think I had any glue gun at all but I had found a really cool vape mod the aegis legend something like that and I didn't have the top peace to it but it also could take an adapter peace and once you put it on you can put on a reguler tank for free base without it you can put a top part that I guess is more for salt nic anyway I bought the adapter off wish and it worked fine until one day it broke some how but I rememberd that I had gorilla glue sticks I tryed them and it stuck vary strong

      I have heard a lot of good things about Gorilla glue sticks but I have never actually tried them. Here is an interesting video that I found where a guy tests the strength of different glue stick brands: ua-cam.com/video/hu8sJBctzFc/v-deo.html (I think you might be interested in it). What is really impressive is that you used hot glue sticks without actually having a hot glue gun.

    I can't mys to bring any glue out it's plug in and it got hot but no glue came out it's melting inside is it damage?

    • @MakerBrain
      @MakerBrain  Рік тому

      Hi, Maria!
      It is kind of hard to read your comment, but if the glue is not coming out of the glue gun but it is still melting inside I recommend that you try to clear out the nozzle by sticking a toothpick or wire up it (do this while the gun is hot). If that doesn't work, heat the glue gun back up and pull the glue stick out. This normally isn't a good idea (because it can cause the gun to jam), but if nothing else works than it is your only choice. Once you remove the stick, quickly use a popsicle stick to clean out as much of the glue inside the gun as possible. Then put a fresh stick back in. Also, you should check and see if your trigger is working. Sometimes the nozzle is good but the trigger is slipping and simply not pushing the glue stick forward. To test this, try pushing the glue stick through with your thumb and see if you can get any out.
      I hope this helps!

      I am really sorry for you, Nicole. What seems to be wrong with it? If it really isn't working, you should be able to return it to Amazon for a refund (at least in most of the USA). I hope this works out for you and you so you can get to actually crafting.

    It's not a very good hot glue gun, it gives the Gorilla a bad name.

      Like I said in the video, it isn't an extraordinary amazing hot glue gun. However, it works well and does everything that most people need it to do. I will also note, I don't think this model of glue gun was designed by Gorilla because after doing some more research I have found the same model of glue gun simply made with different colors and branded by another company. So Gorilla probably has a supplier somewhere and they just add their logo to the gun and sell it through their company.

    Reviews rate this p o s glue gun average meaning their is much better glue guns to purchase (see PROJET FARM) REALLY GOOD REVIEW.

      @MakerBrain  Рік тому

      Thank you for the comment, Howard. I've watched that review from project farm several times... But he focuses more on the quality of the glue sticks and uses the same glue gun for all of them. So I certainly follow him on what glue sticks are the strongest and in this video I actually didn't use Gorilla glue sticks.
