The Legendary OVW 4
Вставка
- Опубліковано 31 сер 2021
- The breeding ground for WWE talent used to be Ohio Valley Wrestling. Better known as OVW this developmental for WWE churned out some of the best talents that wrestling fans saw in the early 2000s. Names like Batista, John Cena, Randy Orton, and Brock Lesnar. These 4 superstars defined an entire generation of wrestling fans. What made it so amazing was WWE actually had direction for each of these characters. John Cena ultimately became the king of the class, but 2002 was a defining year for WWE. It was during a time where Stone Cold and The Rock's time was dwindling down, and WWE was left without a top-tier star. Vince Mcmahon took it upon himself to make these 4 talents stand out above the rest. In this video, I present to you the legendary OV4.

It’s crazy that if steph didn’t hear cena free styling we probably wouldn’t have seen the biggest star of this era
Thank god for Stephanie
Well I mean if another wrestler heard him let’s take Bob holly for example then he would go to Vince or steph and tell them to keep Cena in the company
@@SuperkickStudios ikr
@@WCG847 true
@@WCG847 considering Rey Mysterio and Rikishi (who was definitely a well known seasoned vet then) I'm sure he would've ran up to Vince to put in a good word for Cena
“If Brock doesn’t leave WWE we don’t get John Cena”. That’s crazy to think of
What could have been…
Even if the rock haven't left then we don't get brock Lesnar as next thing and we know what would have happened to cena that is the real crazy thing to think of
You know whats crazier? WWE would have given Lesnar Cena's gimmick.
@@sessi0000 agreed it would be weird. Lesner would have become most hated wrestler
It's 100% factual as well. Cena would still have became a star but how Randy has always been 3rd to him and batista is how cena would of been to brock
I believe these 4, along with Edge to an extent, were the crucial ones WWE needed to fill the massive void that was in losing BOTH Rock and Austin, and in short order too. That investment paid off and once they all officially call it a day, it's truly the official end of an era. Long live the OVW Class of 2002!
When you put it like that, I can’t help but love these four for everything they’ve done in the WWE.
The Beast, The Face, The Animal & The Viper will always be remembered.
Batista underachieved
If you didn't have Eddie Kurt and Chris you had no show
None of you said The Undertaker, shame on you guys & Big Show too maybe..!?
And just like that the OVW 4 have been discredited.
Brock: Simply a monster fighter born to fight.
John: Wrestler & best entertainer.
Bautista: Once wrestler now an actor.
Randy: Wrestler for life.
from wrestling rookies to legends
@@jimjaspers3050He’s the only one that’s still wrestling full time

Orton - 2009 & 2017
Batista - 2005 & 2014
Lesnar - 2003 & 2022
And most hated each of their second wins. Not really making q great point there.
Say what you want about jim cornette(and there's a LOT to say) but the guy's a wrestling genius. He developed 4 of the biggest stars of the 21st century. One is a former UFC champ, 2 of them are Hollywood celebrities and the other is one of the most decorated wrestlers ever. Well done to cornette.
and don't forget JR who signed all 4 of them
@@s4xtt Your right. JR deserves credit as well. I wish he was still the head of talent relations.
And Vince treated both like crap because they weren't corporate yes-men and they actually have more knowledge about wrestling. Vince is still stuck in the past and can't make new stars.
Jim Cornette is brilliant, i always listen too the Drive-thru and Experience every week!
He also had to swallow his pride when it came to Kevin Steen in RoH. Corny is hard to convince, but when a guy truly puts their everything day in day out, I'm pretty sure Jim will be glad to eat his words.
The OVW 4 is an important part of WWE history. When you have the power and speed of Lesnar, the brutal force of Batista, the charisma of Orton and the driven passion of Cena, you definitely had an legendary class. OVW 4 were the leaders of Ruthless Aggression Era along with Edge.
I really loved how u used charisma for Orton nd passion for cena
Cena is the most passionate wrestler of all time
what a truly talented quartet of performers the OVW 4 were.
John Cena, Dave Batista, Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton have all etched their names into the WWE history books. All four men had unbelievable careers. They may not all have gotten off to a smooth start but they all eventually found their niche and became megastars.
If WWE could have kept finding and developing talent like those four then the WWE product would have been much more entertaining and watchable over the last two decades.
I remember being in awe of Lesnar initially as he ploughed through the WWE roster. I also was a fan of Cena’s from the moment he debuted and challenged Kurt Angle. I did go off him when he adopted the rapper gimmick and then received a never ending mega-push, but I eventually came to like and respect him for his talent and work ethic.
It took me a little longer to buy into Batista and Orton but both developed into credible superstars and there’s no denying either man’s legacy.
All four men had fantastic careers and all four men deserve every ounce of the success that they worked so hard to achieve.
the “OVW 4” has that same “Smackdown 6” kind of ring to it

Smackdown 6 sounds so much better
Maaaannn Batista has already went out the door. Cena and Lesnar are almost done for good. Once Orton leaves, that will truly be the end of an era. When those four men were just getting started, there was no telling what they would be able to accomplish or how much they would impact WWE or pro wrestling as a whole. Now all 4 of them are considered some of the GOATs in Sports Entertainment. Ya love to see it. 💯

I’m actually excited for what could be coming👀
Yup. The indie guys had a ceiling, there’s something about homegrown talent that just resonates and screams superstar.
Fatu is REALLY good.
@@167kinggam And that’s what I love about the WWE, for all their flaws it can’t be denied that legends were made from within, who were all unique and took different paths.
Still, I do hope the next generation of superstars could make an impact close to this 4.
I plan to live for the next 20 years at least, so there's a chance I (and others) will know. 😉
Randy is the only dude who is in a full time schedule he truly deserves to win another royal rumble match and tie with stone cold and break ric flair’s record and in the coming future he should become 19 or 20 time world champ

For real. I'm so happy WWE are finally realizing that they need to go back to what used to work for them by pushing athletes instead of wasting time doing trial and error with these workrate indie wrestlers that wont ever draw a dime.

Everything needs a fresh start at one point, like if the attitude era went on till 2010 everyone would be burned out with seeing Austin drink beer, beat up Vince, and stunner everyone that's a fact you can't deny... so just be open to change and let's see what will happen to them cause NXT for years has just been the same we need a change

Once in a lifetime in 2014 when this 4 legends are in WWE , I wish to see this 4 complete in a match, fatal 4 way. It will be awesome..
My favorite member is Orton. Growing up, I used to be enthralled by his mannerisms and his facial expressions. He just told a story with his eyes. And also his slickness in the ring. I was a teenager who didn't know that wrestling is a work, but even I could tell that Orton was so good, it seemed like he wasn't even trying. Even now the man is brilliant in that ring. His quickness when he strikes the RKO is something else. His consistency and his longevity is rewarding to a fan like me who's been following wwe since 2004 (although I was a bit of a fan even in the Lesnar years). Orton is my all time favorite WWE superstar.
Same here
23:34 Randy Orton easily is the work horse. :) Made Cena that famous he is, just remember the feud involving cenas dad... the amount of hate he took. or built it further vs hunter, only to give the buzz to cena again.
Cena deserves everything, for his behaviour towards the weak, he was awesome there, if have to give it to him! But I think Randy deserve the recognition of being the best out of them.
Plus he is the only one left at weekly top level and still performs like its 2007 man. :) The Legendkiller has become one of the biggest legends in the buisness himself! He doesnt get enough credit imo.
As heel he was not only gold, this guy was platinum. The look, the hair cut, the tounge movement, the moments of shaking, the adding of the slidering... this guy was the shit in the ring and a loved his calm yet sadistic promos... it was so fresh to me. Awesome. :) Double HoF incoming, if WWE does it right he goes triple! Himself, Evolution and Rated-RKO. :) Edge should get the triple HoF honors as well, but this is a subjetive opinion. But both should at least get double for E&C and Evolution.
Randy is my all time second fav, right behind a masked big red machine.
:D
Ok so then who’s the more popular one out of the two oh that’s right it’s cena he’s didn’t make cena it was the other way around get your facts right and one more thing I like orton I don’t hate the guy

Im a Filipino, and im proud that Batista is a star. Batista was the first wrestler who I fall inlove with before John Cena.
Batista is part Filipino.
No greater set of 4 wrestlers ever. 44 world championships, 13 Wrestlemanias main-evented, all had hall of fame level careers by 2008. Just ridiculous. Over 60 total championship reigns too. And even more impressive considering Batista only was healthy for 5.5 years and Lesnar wrestled 8 of his years extremely part-time. If they had stayed full time their full careers it's possible that we're looking at a set of 50+ world championship reigns. Absolutely incredible
Evolution?? HHH Ric flair Orton and Batista
@@reimixo Lol HHH's reigns were never as iconic, and Ric Flair has a bunch of short reigns in all truth. Cena's 380 day and Lesnar's 504-day were much more dominant than any of HHH's and Ric Flair's. Hunter couldn't even win matches clean. Just wasn't great, and also unnecessarily buried Booker T. That's why he'll never be in my top 25 wrestlers all-time bc he just didn't have the star power to warrant the spots he was placed in. I will admit Flair was quite entertaining though
@@MrScotty2Hotty28 you talked Numbers, and Numbers wise, evolution is better

Once I realised that he had a gimmick in the past named basic thuganomics and I started watching those raps, I just couldn't believe my eyes. The way he's transitioned from that to PG is nuts. And of course 17x has to happen.....
But as I started to grow into an adult, I started to realise the underappreciated genius of Brock Lesnar. The kind of legitimacy and realistic nature he brought to WWE matches is something no one can do. Whenever Brock was in a match I just had to watch it. Of course there are many superstars who gave us amazing matches but If we wanna talk about unforgettable legendary matches Brock Lesnar has to be in them. Arguably a GOAT!
I remember seeing an interview when Vince saw Lesnar, was the only time Heyman knew he and Vince are on the same page and told him, "take this raw clay and make him into a money making machine!"
Wow this video was damn good bro, it was a walkthrough my childhood and brought back all the good feels of nostalgia and memories of a better time

All 4 of these men basically were the face of the Ruthless Aggression Era. Yeah, Brock Lesnar left but still, when you think about that era, you’ll think about this monster run throughout 2002-2003. Randy Orton on the other hand literally evolved overtime. They set their eyes on him and it paid off greatly. Look where he’s at now? He’s considered to be one of the greatest wrestlers of this and the last generation. Batista had his ups and downs due to his departures, but his best work would be in the 2000’s without a doubt. Now, John Cena, he’s by-far the most accomplished out of all of them. Maybe that’s debatable because Brock Lesnar is pretty successful too but Cena has done so much. I’m just glad that I grew up watching most of these men. They shaped my childhood in a way.
Loved this video-these guys were heroes during my childhood and seeing this nostalgia brings a tear to my eye…
Superkickstudios could make a video talking about anything and I would be hooked on throughout the whole video. Great work as per usual
If they booked Shelton Benjamin properly, this would have been the OVW 5! HHH just let hit beat him twice it wasn’t believable! Sometimes I wonder what could have been if Shelton would have worked with Undertaker in 04 instead of HHH! HHH didn’t make anyone he wasn’t boys with!
Yes if they book Shelton properly he is also a star
I thought the same. Shelton was main event caliber, but the programs he was in were terrible.
Wt about edge
Pisses me off they can't even book him right. Plus he also has a superb amateur wrestling background like Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle.
Well he is black so what do you expect. Do you really want a black man to be the face of wwe?
Kind of funny that had Stephanie McMahon didn't hear Cena rapping, we wouldn't ever see Cena's career at all.

Very true. It’s an exciting time. NXT becoming as big as it did took away from what it was suppose to be, which is developmental.

Cena at Rumble 2015 (with Seth) for the Title
Cena and Orton last faced each other on 7th February edition of Smackdown in 2017
same bro, i really don’t know why brock and batitsa didnt have some rivalry, they were both beast back in 03/04 and could be a great main event match let alone they didnt even had a 1 on 1 match with each other
Great point about NXT, everyone needs to calm down.
Yea like seriously
Great content
Perfect video
These 4 were our childhood legends
Danny Davis and Cornette did amazing things with OVW. Johnny Jeter should have been a star in WWE
I look forward to your video about FCW. ;)
👀 it’s like you knew
Great video. You look at things the same exact way I do. Wwe needs to go back to being themselves, and not try to please the internet. The internet will always complain about the current era, until that era is passed and nostalgia kicks in. Truly wonderful video.
When all 4 of these men take retirement properly i want all 4 of them to stand in ring talk about how great their experience was..... And how their era officially ends today
Awesome video! Also When are you gonna fantasy book the draft?
Ah yes the OVW Four, the men that defined the Ruthless Aggression Era
THE ANIMAL BATISTA!
man I love that guy so much. Brought my friend and I so much joy.
Amazing class of rookies that took the business by storm damn near 20 years later.
There is no way Shelton Benjamin, who came through the same system as everyone else should not have been a champion
They fucked him up for real
They always fuck up black dudes and ECW WCW dudes
@@reimixo no charisma
Interesting video. W
Love the video men
Randy Orton He’s one of the best things about WW right now you need to 14 Time world champion 13 time Idk goat
Cena is among the GOATs of wrestling! ❤️🔥🔥🔥
Randy Orton is
Not even a doubt that is the most legendary batch of all time just look at these guys now in 2023 you can't imagine wwe without them.
Bro u are underrated af
Glad I am found someone who is looking at possible positive outcome for wrestling rather than just want indie stars wrestling 5stars on PPVs.
Because we all know pro- wrestling is weekly progression of stories and I think big poster boys having natural charisma and look are the way to keep the business alive. As wrestling needs poster boys outside ring too who will keep money coming with great ring workers like Michels, Rey Mysterio, Jericho, AJ Styles and Jhonny Gargano because at the end you need someone bigger than pro wrestling itself to draw people on shows where we will see 5 star matches & someone who keeps business alive.
Someone like Hogan, Austin, Rock or Cena which are names bigger than wrestling itself.
Hopefully someone like Peter Burdox would be the next guy.
One thing I want to point out is that brock during his first run did resign with wwe , it was just that he walked out a year into his 1 million 🤑🤑 per year 7 year contract
Best wrestling channel
💛
Randy is the WWE guy out of these 4 like he said. Dependable, reliable, great in the ring and on the mic/in storylines, and will go until he physically can’t. One of the few veterans we have that is consistent, so cherish him while he’s here. Also Randy vs Brock Lesnar soon, please WWE, a definitive answer is better than nothing.
