'The Viper'/'Apex Predator' Randy Orton could only exist because that iteration of the character stood on the shoulders of Randy's 'Legend Killer'. People should never forget that. The best part about that transition was that it very much was an organic and natural evolution of the character, it wasn't some tacky and forced gimmick change, even as the 'Legend Killer' Randy had a ruthless and sadistic streak to him, granted he had a charismatic flair that went away with the 'Viper', but it's just another example of genius long term storytelling in wrestling, which I wish they did more of today.
This is definitely the greatest time of Randy Orton in my opinion. Where he had his best stories, best character work, best promos, everything. The fact that all of this was able to happen when he was young and new, goes to show how much faith WWE had in the new guys back then and how much they really wanted new stars. Truly another reminder of why I miss Ruthless Aggression when the company cared about making new stars.
You're definitely allowed your opinion, but no way it beats his 2009-2010 psychopath run. He put so much damn effort into his movements, mannerisms, and was the leanest he had ever been which means he was busting ass in the gym.

also 2010. orton was manhandling edge and Jericho in a triple threat match and winning pretty much every match he was in. Also he was pretty much the smackdown version of super cena from 2011 to 2013
Quick observation: Randy looked really good once he obviously laid off the roids, his body being more streamlined and his face less disfigured by the juice was good not only for his health but also his being able to act more expressively with his face.
Randy probably has the most numerous physique changes of any top wrestler in history. (There are so many, as opposed to one or two big ones like many wrestlers, that he rarely even gets mentioned in the compilation videos about body changes in pro wrestlers.) That kind of volatility, especially from someone who makes their living from their body, is one of the more reliable signs of someone being on PEDs, even in the absence of a look that's inherently unachievable naturally. You can't at all reliably guess what someone's pharmacology might be at any given time, however.
Definitely my favourite version of Orton, He had everything. The starpower, The entrance, That iconic theme song and His rivalry with Undertaker was simply legendary.
“The Legend Killer” is such a great nickname. Its so on-the-nose but at the same time, if you live up to that name, you become a legend yourself. Which he did. It’s The Legend of the Viper.
The best thing about The Legend Killer Gimmick was Rated RKO & Randy Orton's feuds with Mick Foley, Undertaker, and The McMahons. The worst thing about it was his world title reigns and match against Triple H at WrestleMania.
This man was a straight up MENACE to society. If wrestling was taken seriously, Orton would still be serving time in prison to this day. And a side note: I could watch Moolah get RKO'ed on a loop for years and never get bored.
This might rub some people the wrong way but Randy orton was the best (or always one of the the 3 best at the time) Wrestler on the roster from 2006/07-2011, 2013-2017 was good too but orton in his mid/late 20s-early 30s was ABSOLUTELY LEGENDARY!
The Legend Killer was great and Orton at that age played him exceedingly well. He grew out of the role and I'm glad that WWE didn't insist on still keeping him saddled into that persona when he had matured enough to no longer be spitting in the faces of Legends. Now Orton as the Viper, is a Legend himself and he's great in his own right.
This is why Randy Orton is my favorite to watch in WWE.He can bring some many emotions into a Match Promo or segment. He was always that crazy and scary heel that people understood that he can be something that people knew that he can do anything because he is the Legend Killer.
I grew up with The Legend Killer Randy Orton. I remember when he had the "Burn in my Light" theme song and when punt kicked Shawn Michaels, RVD, and Matt Hardy. I hated him so much as a kid.

I’m not even a WWE fan in current day, but it’s the moments like that, that have me watching these videos, and finding myself interested in what’s going on today, seeing as though i haven’t watched WWE since 2010/2011
That shows such incredible maturity & character to basically decline ending Taker's streak because he basically wasn't committed enough because he was a young D-bag.
That bloodbath that Randy and Edge put on DX with all those chair shots on Raw was the very first pro wrestling I ever saw. I was so shaken that I actually prayed for Triple H and Shawn Michaels.
How ironic is it that Randy Orton, a legend in his own right now, is taken out of action by himself from a back injury from using his own move. Truly, the 3 most devastating letters in sports entertainment are RKO.
19:05 I remember watching this live. It was awesome. I was actually on the phone with my cousin and we was talking about Brooke cuz they also aired her video “About Us” feat. Randy Orton's twilight years should be a storyline where a new Legend Killer is born and that the Legend to be hunted is the former Legend Killer himself, Randy Orton.
I understand bald Viper Orton is truly amazing. But growing up during Legend Killer Days was my favorite. The theme, the manager(his dad), his rivalries/stories, and everything was top notch.
