- With Triple H's reign of terror in full swing fans were hungry to see someone topple the king of kings. Luckily in evolution was a man by the name of Batista if you were to paint a wrestling superstar it would look just like him... In late 2004 WWE started one of the most well thought out stories in company history. A story which took it's time to burn to an eventual climax and the rivalry and outcome was unforgettable. this video takes a look at the legendary rivalry between Batista and Triple H.

This rivalry was easily one of the best feuds I’ve ever seen during my childhood. The storyline, the matches, everything these two had were straight up classics. And it definitely helped Batista become the legend he is now. And their last storyline in 2019 showed why these two still got it. Truly a classic rivalry I’ll forever treasure.😊
To this day, This is still one of my favourite rivalries in wrestling. Their fued in 2005 was simply top tier. It elevated batista into a huge star and after this, He became the face of Smackdown and had an instant classic with the undertaker at WM 23, And at 2009 he would go there & become one of the best heel in wrestling. Etc.... Batista has done it all, After that Rumble we all knew he was going to become a huge star & he did.
Batista and Cena replaced each other as the faces of Smackdown and Raw respectively when the World Heavyweight Championship was moved to Smackdown & the WWE Championship moved to Raw.
*The Batista-Triple H was the prime example of when WWE knew how to tell a story and they actually took the time to tell the story rather than just rushing it, which they do nowadays, which is unfortunate.*
Roman/Bloodline story is a slow burn just give it time
@Hwaaaaa_Panda The audience short attention span stems from after 20 years of Vince giving up on a story within 3 weeks and killing it off with no rhyme or reason and then they wonder why the mainstream audience don’t bother to invest.

Batista's feud with Triple H during his "reign of terror" was probably the only good thing to come out of it. The fans got behind Batista and he became the star that he is today.
Some of good came out of Reign actually
1.Reinvented Ric Flair
2.Upcoming Stars like Batista and Randy Orton were made.
3.Added a lot prestige to the World Heavyweight Title.
4.Gave Chris Benoit a moment from all he did
5.A few good rivalries and matches came out it and that's odd cause during a part of the Reign most of HHH's matches were unintersting

The irony of your comment is that you're a mark without realizing it. the entire point was for you to hate the "reign of terror". People's desperation to see HHH lose is part of what catapulted Batista's momentum.. Modern fans don't understand the concept of heat whatsoever.. It's important to build heels up because it increases the stakes and gives the babyfaces a higher and more dramatic mountain to climb. Modern fans they think everyone "deserves" something.. HHH made Orton and Batista, breathed life into a stale Ric Flair character, put Benoit over a million times, put Shelton Benjamin over multiple times, put Goldberg over, put Cena over.. the list goes on.. if booking were left up to the marks, HHH would have lost every match. He was the most talented dude in the company after Rock and Austin left, he could do it all.. it made complete sense to build him up and it worked out perfectly because look at all the guys from that time that he put over that became stars. HHH executed his job on the card.. HHH has worked some of the best programs and had some ofthe most memorable fueds because he's a talented well rounded motherfucker. it's that simple

I maintain to this very day that the rivalry between Triple H and Batista was one of the best storylines in WWE history. The slow build was so good, and served as a proper template for how to execute a storyline, instead of scrapping it midway or leaving it inconclusive.
Batista ended The Reign of Terror of Triple H as World Heavyweight Champion at Wrestlemania 21 goes Hollywood! John Cena and Batista truly were the future that night. They ruled the Ruthless Aggression Era.

I loved the vengeance 2005 match it was amazing imo it's definitely my first choice of hiac it brings so much nostalgia i never watched it live but was given the vengeance 2005 dvd for Christmas one year and always watched it regularly
HHH had more of a rivalry with Orton because it was back & forth. HHH & Batista had more of a falling out due to Batista rising to superstardom but Batista owns HHH almost every time they fight.

I blame Cena for my loss of interest in WWE in late 05'.. The two shows felt like two different companies back then and Batista had the advantage of being on the A-show working with HHH as a foil.. because of the fact that Batista was a heel though, Cena had momentum much earlier than Batista.. Cena was getting MASSIVE pops in 04' as a babyface rapper on Smackdown.. he was over with the entire audience at that time because he had an anti-hero edgy persona that didn't yet alienate the adult males. Batista was just booked in much more compelling and prominent storylines at that time in 05'

Best thing about this rivalry in the buildup was just the glances, the certain words said by Batista that made it more evident that HHH was just using dave to protect his title and had zero intention of facing Batista himself, and you could see the gears turning in the animals head and he was just going to go along with the evolution thing and had every intention for a long time to take the world title from no one but triple h himself
