He’s someone who wanted to change the game and over the years in different companies, he’s become one of the most polarizing figures in the wrestling business… some people love him some people hate him, but you cannot deny the career he has had up until this point.

CM Punk I think is perfectly rated. He changed wrestling in terms of what type of wrestler can become a star in WWE. Plus he is fantastic. I’m really enjoying this AEW run so far although now is the time we give him a big time storyline.
He can do anything. He’s like Stone Cold where he isn’t flashy but you pay to see him compete and he takes wrestling seriously, you will never see him stage dive whilst he is making an entrance for a match, he is focused on winning and when wrestlers take wrestling seriously it makes it feel more real and fans buy into it more.
Wow you sound super uneducated. It was guys like Shawn Michael's.. randy orton.. Eddie Guerrero.. Chris Benoit.. Rey Mysterio that did ALL that, way before punk. Had punk never had his run in wwe.. we would still be a nobody. McMahon made punk.. and still he wasn't good enough to main event wrestlemania. He's always been that 2nd tier guy. Never top tier and won't be.

@@TrapKing1017. not on about star power level between Austin and Punk I’m on about personality and host the characters (and sometimes the people themselves) were quite similar and when I mean the indie guys I mean ROH wrestlers and TNA wrestlers. Something in the late 2000’s and early 2010’s WWE didn’t really pay that much attention to. Guys like Punk and Bryan changed that stigma in WWE. Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio and Chris Benoit were featured wrestlers on WCW whilst ROH and TNA didn’t have the same viewership or attention as WCW of ECW. That’s what I mean

CM Punk's pipebomb promo put his name as far up the list as Austins name is. That promo alone made CM Punk THE man. The 80's had Flair and Hogan. The 90's had Hart, Michaels, Rock, Austin, and Taker. The 2000's had Cena, Orton, Batista, and Triple H. And the 2010's had Daniel Bryan and CM Punk

Let's be real I'm not sugarcoat anything. Say what you will about how controversial he is but if it weren't for CM Punk achieving success he had in all of wrestling then guys like Daniel Bryan Seth Rollins and many of the other big time independent wrestlers today would not be as successful as they are. CM Punk's breakout on 2011 led to the surge of indie talent we've seen in the last decade.
I don’t know if he’s the greatest of all time but he will always be my favorite wrestler of all time. No wtestler has ever gotten me entirely back into wrestling like Cm Punk. No wrestler had more influence on the PG ERA (Aside from Cena) like Punk. I will always have a soft spot for the Cult of Personality

Regardless of people's opinions or how people feel about him, the actual fans who paid to watch wrestling shows chanted this man's name for 7 years after he had long left professional wrestling. And punk was always the biggest rumour in ring returns throughout that time.
In my 25 years of watching wrestling I've never seen anything like it, nor have I seen anyone list a similar comparison in that regard from the origins of pro wrestling all the way to now.
If he wasn't as influencial as his detracters make him out to be, none of that would happen and we saw the direction of WWE change because of his impact on wrestling. The thing is some people can't seperate their personal feelings and insecurities about the truth from the truth and the internet is a breeding ground for jealousy and hate. So we see irrational comments time and time again.
Personally CM Punk is my Hogan, Bret, Austin, The Rock.

CM Punk was and still is my favorite wrestler of all time. He may not have been the biggest star or the biggest draw, he may not have had that many world championships compared to others, but goddammit he was so f***ing cool
I'll always see Cena vs Punk as the best feud to come out of the last decade. That program was more interesting than Punks actual title reign IMO
CM Punk, to me, is a properly rated Talent, in that he's not underrated, because he's a damn good wrestler and can actually talk on the mic, which is great. He makes every match and program he's in seem like a deal. And he's not overrated, because he completely changed the landscape of wrestling. The Pipebomb made him an instant overnight sensation because finally, finally someone got what was wrong with the current product, and still is wrong with the current product. So, while I wouldn't have CM Punk in my top 10 favorites, he'd definitely crack my top 20, definitely being more in the higher up area.

a great wrestler, good on the mic, but most importantly he has a one of a kind personality as a wrestler.
The first time I saw cm punk was at ECW in 2006. This guy is a likeable wrestler so easy to like cause he was so different from what a wwe wrestler must be I have been a fan ever since and I'm looking forward to what he has instore for AEW.
CM Punk will always have a special place to me, as someone who grew up watching wrestling from around the end of the Ruthless Aggression Era into the PG Era, after Jeff Hardy, Punk was the guy. Whether it was The Cult Leader, The Nexus, his entertaining World Heavyweight Championship Title Runs and having some of my favourite feuds, he was just able to make most material work. Honestly the pipebomb just elevated him for me, in me and my friends eyes, he was already our guy and the guy we wanted to see beat the ever present and annoying Cena & Orton (yes we used to hate both of them back then, not so much now though 🤣)
I watch it at the end of Attitude Era and the beginning of Ruthless Aggression Era then PG Era

I feel like a narrative started over the last few years that Punk was overrated, purely because people were unhappy he left wrestling. Since he’s come back, a certain “demographic” of fans have doubled down on that due to displeasure, but most are once again recognising just how great Punk is, and how important he has been to Professional Wrestling over the last 10-15 years. I mean let’s look at it like this: all of the industry’s most respected legends all talk about how great Punk is, and they hold him in high regard (Eddie Guerrero was one of these people).
I’ll trust more in the words of the greats like Eddie, than I will some dude on Twitter.
Eddie died in 2005. While punk was in RoH. He only met and wrestled a handful of times on the indies when Eddie was making a clean comeback. I don't think Eddie knew punk as well as your statement (that I know someone else said it I heard it before too)

CM Punk is perfectly rated there's no doubt in it. It's like the 80s (Golden Era) had Hogan and Flair, 90s (New Generation and Attitude Era) had Hart, Michaels, Stone Cold, The Rock, Hunter 2000s (Ruthless Aggression Era) had Cena, Orton, Batista, Taker, Lesnar, Kane 2010s (PG Era) had Punk and Bryan .CM Punk changed wrestling forever The Shield was his creation without him they wouldn't be what they're today.
Imagine this. What if for WM29, we would have gotten Rock vs Punk and Cena vs Taker instead of the latter happening?

I don't think a rating would do his work justice. He pushed a button in fans they hadn't realized was there for years, actually pushing that kayfabe/ real line in ways that no one else could do at the time. He was the perfect foil for Cena during his "Cena Sucks" phase, and the biggest problem was not letting him be the centerpiece of his own title reign. He earned that, and never even got to defend the title at WM.

He is great, awesome, good rated. His WWE career was better than most of other ex WWE wrestler.

He was one of the best in his era, the heel John Cena "Super Cena" needed at the time. Great in the ring and the mic. He had 2 defects in my opinion:
1) We all know Vince likes big, muscular men as their Champion. You need to work thrice as hard or bring the big bucks consistently to remain champion for extended periods of time, which Punk did.
2) With his personality, I think he was victim of his own success. Knowing he was not easy to work with it was just unsustainable.

Punk was underutilized from 2008 to 2011. He easily could've been a bigger star with proper booking before the pipebomb even happened. Especially when he led the Straight Edge Society. That stuff was gold. He really should've had a run with the WHC, but sadly, never did. So for that time period he was underrated. I don't think Punk was ever overrated because he put on some really good matches, and he's always been a good mic worker. He earned his spot and did a damn good job at it - despite being held back at times.
It's just that some fans loved to compare Punk with Austin, and aside from the edginess, they're not really comparable. Austin drinks beer; Punk is straight edge. Austin was a megastar; Punk was just a star. They're only comparable on the mic, but even then, Austin's the better talker. So in that regard, he can be overrated. Punk is good, but not THAT good.
Either way, I feel he's properly rated by those in the industry, and slightly overrated by fans.
