Next week: space sins and assassin sins.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we count next?

Original, and up to the 1st sequel: the Cenobites were heralds of torture and pain to those who sought it. If they were summoned it was because you wanted it. Pinhead even forbade the others from taking Tifanny who was forced to complete the Lament Config for Dr Channard in Hellraiser 2. "It is not hands that summon us, it is desire!".
Everything after: Torture porn y'all! Especially this one, absolute nonsense that the box can transfer the punishment of the cenobites onto other unwilling participants. It requires no trickery on the antagonists' part, you could just solve the box carefully, and stab victims for the offerings. Lazy.

Except for the newly-created psychiatrist cenobite who goes rogue and kills all his patients in their hospital beds. And there’s the guy at the end who gets killed through the mattress, or was that supposed to be Julia trying to come back that way again?
But I guess it’s explained by the psychiatrist destroying the original Pinhead, because it was Pinhead who stated that “rule” and stopped the other cenobites from going after Tiffany, so with him gone, no one held the psychiatrist or other cenobites back from going after anyone they wanted.

@@chadharger9323 I don’t know, but he’s the one who said it in the first 2 movies, and after his original incarnation was destroyed in the second movie, the other cenobites didn’t restrain themselves. Leviathan probably wants as many souls as possible, but the man who became the first Pinhead seemed like he’d been a decent guy originally, so it could have been his own moral code, that’s why Kirstie was able to appeal to the trace of humanity he still had, and also why the psychiatrist cenobite was able to defeat him.

Pinhead isn't supposed to be a badguy at all. He is a neutral party who comes when called. He shows only people who are curious, the pleasures of the flesh. This was made clear in the second movie.

In fact, when Riley decided to choose life instead of any of the other ‘gifts’ the Cenobites basically rolled their eyes and called her a nerd before leaving her alone.

@@blakeharris58 Maybe the fact that the movie introduces a magic box that, when solved, sacrifices people for someone else's goals? If Pinhead is a consensual "pleasure" demon, then that isn't consensual. It doesn't make Pinhead look good or neutral, seeing as the box can have someone's blood and spare them or not have someone's blood and kill them. If Pinhead comes when called, then the box is useless anyway. If someone genuinely wants to explore the depths of pleasure, then Pinhead should know and just show up without all that extra shit.

Eh, I'm in the small minority of people who liked it. I think it's because I came in with low expectations and was surprised it was as fun of a movie as it was.
If you've watched enough Hellraisers, you know what to expect by now. 2 was a letdown, and it only got worse from there, so I was just relieved we got a somewhat entertaining film out lf it.
Personally liked some of the designs, especially the breathing Cenobite, which sounded very creepy.
I think fans of the series just keep believing there's going to be some magical return to form, and we'll get something as good as the original. Me, I didn't. So getting a film that's better than 3, 4, 5, etc. just felt like a breath of fresh air.

@@tonythehappynerd7241 I agree. Perhaps I shouldn't have implied it wasn't a return to form, because it very much was a good Hellraiser film. I saw Judgment recently, and it was pretty good too. The Auditor was an awesome Cenobite. Still, this one takes the cake. I've watched it many times.

What a disgusting cash grab. The Cenobites are not evil but neutral, they inflict the pain on those who use the box to call them. Only the first 2 are really good and accurate, I'll say the third is decent too, it also explains why Pinhead is evil in that one because the dark part of him is acting on its own. But this series could've been 3-4 movies max, not 12.

Not to nitpick the nitpickers, but the Cenobites do not come from Hell. Even without getting into the ten other movies, original short story, various comic books, more short stories, upcoming television show, more short stories, more comic books, and nonfiction behind-the-scenes books about Hellraiser (27 million views, you say?), I think this movie makes it pretty clear that the Cenobites come from some other dimension or world that is adjacent to our own. Solving the puzzle box briefly merges the two dimensions, allowing the Cenobites to cross over and take away their victim-- that's what the walls pulling back and such is, it's the merging of two worlds.
Joey's death at the beginning of the movie and the subsequent appearances of the Cenobites in the film's climax would all indicate that the Cenobites can be seen by anyone who's within the general vicinity of whatever gateway gets created when their worlds merge-- it's not like a specific vision the victim has that all outside observers would be unable to recognize. So the REAL sin here is how unobservant the nurses are.

My best guess for why it took a while for them to get the chick in the van was because the target’s position was constantly changing and pinhead had to continuously reconfigure the area to compensate for the continuously moving target. Just imagine how her squad would be giving her the side eye if she kept slinging chains and missing the target. They might run back to Leviathan and petition for her demotion or termination 🤣🤣
