A hard topic with so many of the extreme genres having their peak year/s in the 90s. Here's my list - I'm 38 but only listening to metal for ~10 years. 1990 Entombed - Left Hand Path 1991 Dismember - Like an Everflowing Stream 1992 Demigod - Slumber of Sullen Eyes. Death - Human possibly close, its a borderline 9.5/10 for me. 1993 Immortal - Pure Holocaust. Katatonia very close behind. 1994 Oof this is the first really tough one! Have to give it to Abigor like Simon. Dawn and Hades are pretty much equal, and Gorement a little behind those. 1995 Death - Symbolic. Abigor very close. 1996 Sacramentum - Far Away From the Sun 1997 I hate to have to relegate Aeturnus, but Borknagar - The Olden Domain is a special album for me. 1998 Diabolical Masquerade - Nightwork. Borknagar again, and Blind Guardian very close for me. 1999 Immortal - At the Heart of Winter Predictable maybe but it is what it is - I could make a list sans DM/BM all of stuff well in the 90%s ratings for me, the above are pretty much all my 10/10 albums.
