Jesus, Jay. you need to stay in more. Try ColinFurze youtube channel he makes things too. I must warn you though, if you found this exciting, ColinFurze will probably give you a heart attack.
Excelent idea, good for country home or an open area, not for standard city drive way, because usually we have to shovel the snow in a very reduce space area, but your idea is very good,1000 times better than snow blower,no more bussines.......
That's awesome. I would imagine a lot more will catch on to this as well. Just make sure you use light duty chain so that if you hit something solid it will just break a chain.
I have been absolutely amazed at the tools and methods you have shared so far on this channel but this takes the cake. Leave it to a crazy newfie to come up with such a simple and practical tool. Thanks again for sharing. I spent more than 20 years north of 60 and really hate snow.
Thanks Jim. I'll tell ya, this was well worth making. It used to cost me $60 a storm to get plowed out. Now it cost me a few minutes of fun time lol. I used to dread snow, Now I honestly cant wait!
LOL, wow! I have to admit thats pretty amazing! I would have never thought it would have worked so well. Well done sir :) You must be really good at driving in reverse by now ;)
This is great! I have some bad discs in my back and always end up in pain even when use the snow blower for a while. I may build a mini one for my civic!
Not trying to take anything away from this invention, but for a car without the same seat attachments as a van, the following link may be helpful. ua-cam.com/video/387p21b5oYc/v-deo.html
Now I gotta go bye a van so I can make a plough. That was banging, I was only checking my woodwork Chanel's and now ????? Gee you thrown me into a real tiz. AWSOME
If everyone spent a couple hours per week just thinking and tinkering, we'd have lots of ingenious inventions just like this. Another guy did one that drags behind the car with cinder blocks holding it down. Check out "0 $ 10 Min DIY Snow Plow". These guys are both setting an excellent example.
That's an interesting concept..what I found more amazing was the amount of traction that van gets..'I've seen big heavy duty trucks slip and slide under the same conditions..go figure...lol
i wonder if a air bag system would go off if it hit a stump you did not see , but other than that i love it good thinking , necessity is the mother of all invention .
I started off thinking, "Knock knock." "Who's there?" "A man and his door. Can I plow your snow?" "You drunk?" (Door slams) Well, I'll be damned! It works!.
You should make some skids that lift the edge of the "blade" up when you are going forward then you don't drag as much snow on the reset. It could be as easy as 2x4 blocks on the backside corners of the blade
4:27 that moment when you take a deep breath and just take it for what it's worth and understand that it's simply fwd, theres not much you can do about it.. LOL
Awesome plow dude! Best part is at 7:33. Just be careful not to abuse your tranny too much, especially when shifting. Monitor ATF viscosity and temperature frequently. Reverse gear in those windstars is kinda fragile....
I was going to get a small plough for my suv (Hyundai Tuncon 2.0L AWD) but my mechanic told me my gearbox is not designed for that sort of use. Not sure if that applies to other suvs and minivans but maybe you could put your gearbox under unnecessary strain
hey guy did you see hes on a very slippery surface no chains or extra weight the weight of the vehicles momentum is doing the work, tranny will last for ever no problem and its an old beater he doesn't care, mostly the old beaters just keep on plowing away
It's actually 2 sheets of plywood 72 x 34 screwed together. Your not the only one getting snow. I'm supposed to get 30+ cm today. Glad I got some new tires! I might shoot another video of this later and include more details of how i made it and how I hooked everything up.
If you attached castors or skids to the corners on the van side of the blade it would lift the blade enough that you wouldn't drag as much snow back when you go forward.
does that at all damage the rear bumper of your van? it looks like a simple fix to a pretty annoying problem, but all i can think of is you would have to do this on a vehicle that you don't mind having a few scratches on...
I bet that voids any warranty on the van. Cool Idea though. I can't help but think about how much shorter the life of the van will be. It's got to be tough on the transmission.
The way he's going it doesn't look too bad. I'd think that doing his driveway once would be sort of like towing a car a hundred miles over slightly hilly land. It's when people ram the shit out of the piles and go for all it's worth, especially pushing uphill, that wrecks the vehicle. Yea, it's not made for it, but he's taking it pretty easy on it. It looks like he's not doing much more than coasting and the weight of the van itself is doing most of the work with some occasional wheelspin. Also it might void the warranty but he said it's an old work van so it's likely not covered anymore. Still, think of it this way. Just trying to bull that thing out through and unplowed driveway is going to be much harder on it than what he's doing.
Could you please give me some more information so I could replicate this? This is genius!!! The size, type of boards? Hooks, etc... I would seriously do this... I have about a 100ft flat driveway and everyone keeps charging more to plow... It's ridiculous... $50? It takes you less than 10 mins to do it !!! And I cant get my snowblower til next year :(
I did think of that when I first started plowing with this but since Setting it up I've hit some crazy solid stuff, enough to stop the van in its tracks and nothing although I have broke a chain a few times since this video, so the week point is the chains which is a good thing. That's the thing to do, use light duty chains
Leg bolts. I stood the plywood up behind the van straight and hooked the chains up to the van then pulled them tight and leg bolted them to the plywood. I've got another video to go up sometime that shows it a lot better. Just haven't got it edited yet
Probably the coolest thing I've watched on UA-cam this week. Thumbs up man!
Thanks jay. I'm glad you were amused lol
Jesus, Jay. you need to stay in more. Try ColinFurze youtube channel he makes things too. I must warn you though, if you found this exciting, ColinFurze will probably give you a heart attack.
A real "red necK' SNOW plow. and you are very good at backing .. congrats
That's it! I'm making one for my truck tomorrow!
No more shoveling!
After 7 years posting this video still is worth it . Keep uploading more smart videos. Tnx lot
That is superb. Very well done. Low buck, very functional.
I love this sort of "do something with what you've got" engineering. Great stuff!
Excelent idea, good for country home or an open area, not for standard city drive way, because usually we have to shovel the snow in a very reduce space area, but your idea is very good,1000 times better than snow blower,no more bussines.......
So awesome! My snowblower just seized up so I made myself one of your plows. It works great! Thanks so much!!
That's awesome. I would imagine a lot more will catch on to this as well. Just make sure you use light duty chain so that if you hit something solid it will just break a chain.

ingenuity is the mother of invention. LAZINESS IS HIS FATHER!!!!!!!!!!! ROFL... I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you show us how to put the chains on and what thickness of wood you use .Great video by the way
Very smart & creative, I enjoyed watching.
Cool. I like the way it drags loose when you go forward. No need to lift up the blade.
Good stuff man Thats what you call looking out of the box . Thumbs up bud !
i love simple innovative ideas.
great little setup
Looks like a "Red Green" episode.
There was no duct tape used in this lol
"This is only temporary."
"Unless it works."
"Then it becomes permanent."
-Red Green.
If they don’t find you handsome they should at least find you handy!
OK....NOW I've seen it all.....very impressive!
Cool man. Been thinking about making one for the past few years.
Thanks Jim. I'll tell ya, this was well worth making. It used to cost me $60 a storm to get plowed out. Now it cost me a few minutes of fun time lol. I used to dread snow, Now I honestly cant wait!
pune in fata masini lama
I cannot believe this works. very good man... you are the man :))))
I have to admit, when I first saw the title of this I was skeptical. Looks like it works pretty well though. Genius.
That mini van is a beast.
Ingenious! Who da thought? Thanks for sharing!
Awesome job my friend
Awesome! Now I know what to do with my wife's windstar!
Dude you are a bad ass. i have like the that hooks to my truck in the front (the truck has a 2" reciver ) but mine was 1000.00 bucks.great idea.
That's brilliant, I almost wish we had snow here so I could try it out...almost!!! :-)
LOL, wow! I have to admit thats pretty amazing! I would have never thought it would have worked so well. Well done sir :) You must be really good at driving in reverse by now ;)
I saw a man with 3 snow throwers chained to the front bumper of his Toyota pickup. :p
Oh Yea Man! I gotta make one of these. Clicking on the second video.
You did a great job!!!
awesome!!!and it works...very good im impressed
This is great! I have some bad discs in my back and always end up in pain even when use the snow blower for a while. I may build a mini one for my civic!

thats nuts lol..and pure genius..i may try this ha
Thanks. Sure beats the heck out of shoveling!
Now I gotta go bye a van so I can make a plough. That was banging, I was only checking my woodwork Chanel's and now ????? Gee you thrown me into a real tiz. AWSOME
Great video. Love your idea.
Ok won’t lie at first I was like here we go. Then I watched. And was like. Ok. Well that actually works and works well
Very ingenious, I might do the same with a 99 Chevy Venture. I just have to fix the head gaskets and put some snow chains on it n' were good.
You sir are a genius!
That old van seems happy to please!

Keep with the great ideas
I started off thinking,
"Knock knock."
"Who's there?"
"A man and his door. Can I plow your snow?"
"You drunk?"
(Door slams)
Well, I'll be damned! It works!.
Ingenious! Do be careful of the exhaust pipe!
Dang ,that definitely beats shoveling ,smart man ,great idea, wow
A very cool tool!
Love the ingenuity!
love the video and idea awesome!!
Lets watch this guy plow snow. Not really interested in how its rigged, but watching you plow snow is all I care about.

So simple that it actually works.
You know I did this back before internet was around and people made fun of me. 😂😂😂Now I see more people doing this .
Awesome plow dude! Best part is at 7:33. Just be careful not to abuse your tranny too much, especially when shifting. Monitor ATF viscosity and temperature frequently. Reverse gear in those windstars is kinda fragile....
LOVE this idea!
Sunnyvale Trailer Park? Canadian accent? Definitely a Trailer Park Boys side project that Trevor and Corey didn't have the chance to screw up.
Richard Smith Bubbles' kitties could ride in the back!
+Richard Smith they actually tape trailer park boys 20 mins from where this was taped lol
it's nice when things work!
very nice lawn mower
Guess I don't have any better ideas. Looks as though it works. Any collateral damage?
That's a cool idea.
Did you hook up a backup beeper or what? That was a great idea and video! Thanks! Merry Christmas!
very good idea..Thanks

The limitation seems the traction of fwd, 4wd could do way more before slipping. Don’t know if you could do chains on a fwd car.
Cables would fit fine, and would probably produce more useful traction for this sort of work than an AWD version of the minivan.
I like this guy.
Excellent ❤
What are the dimensions of the plywood that you were using? Also, how thick is it? It does a great job. :-)
Now that's using your Noggin best video yet mentally satisfying
so awesome
Is that just a wooden plank? And what size are u using? Snow coming tomorrow, so.....love what ya did!
It's actually 2 sheets of plywood 72 x 34 screwed together. Your not the only one getting snow. I'm supposed to get 30+ cm today. Glad I got some new tires! I might shoot another video of this later and include more details of how i made it and how I hooked everything up.
Wooden Tool Man
That would be great. I wonder if I could do this with our truck? Don't know how I would tie it down.
If you attached castors or skids to the corners on the van side of the blade it would lift the blade enough that you wouldn't drag as much snow back when you go forward.
Then it wouldn't stand up right either.
Cool!
I don't like backing into my own exhaust, though.
OMG, I would've been out there swinging a shovel for a couple hours, maybe end up in the hospital.
Can you attach this to back of truck and use with tailgate open
does that at all damage the rear bumper of your van? it looks like a simple fix to a pretty annoying problem, but all i can think of is you would have to do this on a vehicle that you don't mind having a few scratches on...

warranty?? that van is an old beater
in the snow it is so slippery that he isn't going to do any damage to tranny

What about a LIFETIME plastic tabletop? It would be much lighter, assuming it held.
Are you concerned that the impact might set off the airbag or does your van have one?!
I did think of that when I first started plowing with this but since Setting it up I've hit some crazy solid stuff, enough to stop the van in its tracks and nothing although I have broke a chain a few times since this video, so the week point is the chains which is a good thing. Should not set off airbag as force is being applied to rear of vehicle, where there is no sensers
I made this and it worked.
Do you/can you show how to make the 'plow'?
genius!
your a Genius
Thank you so much!!!
what happens if you get a foot or more, do you hook it up to that truck
Have the hatch latches gotten bent and screwed up the hatch from closing?
Not at all. I used light enough chains that if I hit something solid the chain would just break
This will save folks from a heart attack.
Here is another video showing more of how I made this and some more plowing
CRAZY SIMPLE "Mini Van Snow Plow" 2
Wooden Tool Man nice how much for the wood
THANK YOU! I just wrote and asked if you would do a second video and then I saw that you did!
Wooden Tool Man your one smart guy good idea
Nice .........I think a snow blower is more efficient though.
You should call this the polish plow.theres a reason why plows are installed to the front of trucks and vans. 😺😺😺😺
Is this hard on the reverse gear? Jw
Is this a 4 wheel drive van or front wheel drive?
you could do this or just take the gmc sierra over there and drive away?
Actually the truck sucks big time in the snow. I've gotta get the 4wd fixed.
Who needs a truck wen you've got a van
How do you have the chains attached to the plywood?
Leg bolts. I stood the plywood up behind the van straight and hooked the chains up to the van then pulled them tight and leg bolted them to the plywood. I've got another video to go up sometime that shows it a lot better. Just haven't got it edited yet
Wooden Tool Man lag bolts, sorry it was bugging me. i do however like the plow. no need for it here but a great idea.
What are you using for a plow?
Nice now go finish making the moon shine and have a drink!!
