As someone who's been plowing for most of my life I can truthfully state, you did pretty good for only your second day of plowing. Not to mention, that was some deep, heavy, slick, packing snow.
Does my heart good to see one of the old Chevrolets back in the day I had a 70 Chevrolet four-wheel drive on 33s with a big plow you're doing a fine job buddy
was over in leavenworth wa one winter & a guy had an older 70's ford f250. chained all four, spare parts in the box of truck. damn what a site that truck was & loud as hell. looked like fun to me! 😃 👍
You guys got hammered with snow, its been a long time since I've heard 4spd gear whine and the notchyness sound, the old 350 must drink the gas plowing snow.
Used A '79 Dodge Power Wagon with A Meyer of that vintage for about 15 year's until the frame broke. Still have the plow but I needed something to plow with (Had contract's to fill) so I bought A '90 Ford Bronco about 6 year's ago. That one is now falling apart ( Minnesota salt!) I also have A Case 1845C for the big snow's but I don't care to use it unless I have to (No cab and diesels are so much fun to start at 10 below!) Gave up contract plowing A few year's ago. Not much snow around my area the last few years. 11 inches so far this year and it's going to be in the 40's for the rest of the week and rain on Saturday and Sunday. I also plowed off and on for the City of St. Paul for over 28 year's. Good luck!!
You tell 'em buddy. I plow for some family and friends too Jeff with my '69 just like your's only I did a quick body-on resto and use an 8' Western that I love. I would suggest at least rear chains though, they are a bitch to put on my 33-14.50-16.5's though!!!! but really help. going to be 65 degrees here Sunday. Hurraahh!!!
Hey Jeff Two things, The trip springs should be tightened so you can slide a piece of paper between the spring coils. This will prevent it from tilting early. And secondly when she wont back up from the bank hit the power angle and will sometimes push you back.
Right on. Also though, make sure your pump is set for a fast response time from point of control input. If it's set to slow, it won't give you any "push" from the blade.
Nice job plowing! I use a plow mounted to my ATV, and that is a handful to control. I can only imagine the fun with a full sized plow is. And I'll admit, I have left piles of snow in the road too. . Only I sometimes forget about them. -Nick.
Jeff, I love all your video's, I enjoyed the series you did on sending the red suburban over sea's. I just watched a video from Mahmoud J. He has lot's of pictures and a short video at the end of him towing with the suburban you sent him. I hope you got to watch it, it will please you on how much he's done to it and how happy he is. I'm glad you left the long drive at the end of this video, beautiful views! Thanks
I plowed snow for many years with a Meyers plow on a 1959 Willys FC 150. The cab forward was the best for visibility. A few more winters and you'll get the hang of it. Have fun and enjoy the heater.
I miss plowing ... best to plow at night, if you can ... less traffic ... my brother is plowing in Cape Cod , Massachusetts ... great job ... thanks for sharing
I used to work down a steep road in a holler, and we had to plow our own road, the city wouldn't bother with us. We used a Meyer as well, and we took the shoes off so the blade would hit the pavement, we plowed as soon as we could see it sticking and kept the road squeaky clean. We wore out a number of blades too!
That is an iron horse...best truck GM made. It will still be plowing when I am gone. I carry chains for back when ice starts. Years ago I plowed up a long hill and when I got to top I slid backwards all the way down taking out mail boxes and fence. I was 17 and nasty neighbors yelled at me on long island NY. We often have to plow twice two layers or use a payloader when over 12 inches of wet snow or truck gets stuck. They make "speed chains" which come on off easy. All the kids have souped up turbo diesel trucks and plow now.$60 k more than a payloader cost lol. Nice video you make fun stuff there. PS you will have to put a grease fitting on your knee cap from using clutch....kills my leg after several hours...lol.
Not a bad job for a rookie. Chains on all 4 wheels helps a lot when plowing. The tires in the bed squeaking would drive me up a wall. I know their for weight i use bags of concrete or sand or ice melt if IM spreading it after the plow job. Enjoy your videos Jeff hope you get all the repairs done around the house from the snow damage and don't forget to video them. LOL
I saw you plowing, I was heading out from Station 1 while dad was plowing with the tractor. You were on Caves highway. Dad said you stopped by the station. haha
Hey Jeff. Snow plow driver here. Go easy on the ramming if you like the welds not being cracked on your plow and frame. Momentum is your friend when it comes to the heavy stuff. I normally drive a tandem axle dump truck.
Jeff, I just want to say thank you for sharing this video. I've been concerned about how this weather was affecting you personally. You showed the fun positive side of God's creation. After a long hard day's work it was very refreshing to see your life through your eyes. I hope God continues to bless you every day of your life. Thank you very much for continuing to post your videos.
I grew up in Ohio and lived 9 years in upstate NY. This is nothing new. Rare here in southern Oregon, but nothing new to me. I'm also the only guy in this end of the county with a plow on his truck!
Okay Scottie I mean Jeff give us ramming speed. I'm giving ya all I got Captain. Gotta love a stick in the snow. Sorry I didn't know ya wanted to plow the pumps all I wanted was some gas. I stopped cause I saw the sign Eat Here Get Gas. Good music and great video. TFS
Snow plowing is so darn hard on a truck .... In some cities, states, plowing the snow in a lot and putting it across to the other side of the street is a NO - No... From Wisconsin. It snows a enough here. But it was fun to watch this video.
Great job plowing Jeff, sorry I didn't get back to you on those spring saddles. Father-in-law had a stroke, family is in a tizzy. I used the last nice set on my '69 3/4 ton just a month ago. I lifted it 21/2 inches and put a spring in the front 'cause I am putting a big block in next week hopefully. Call me end of the week I'll look around some more for you. .Jim.
Go Jeff! That wet stuff is hard to shove around. Ol'e Blue did good. We usually get mounds of wet snow like that here in northern Ohio, but haven't for the last 3-4 years. We're long overdue for 15-30" of wet, road closing sloppiness . Keep doing what you're doing, buddy.
Fun times plowing and beautiful scenery at the end. Reminds me of plowing with my dad in Wisconsin as a teenager in high school. Another great video Jeff...keep'em coming!
Good job plowing, My dad has a 69 k 20 that he booger welded a cj plow frame on years ago (i was the power angle! haha). Truck is a tank. in 96 we had that bizzard here in PA. he was plowing snow balls up higher than the hood! Sadly though that truck is succumbing to rust pretty bad. I hope your gmc doesn't end up like his!
lol! some guys put weight low in the box, so they can see backing up. I tried the snow plowing thing in southern BC 30 years ago, starve for a long time, go around the clock for 24 hrs... starve for a long time... it was kind of fun though. btw, snowplow is usually supposed to be there before the people arrive. auxiliary backup lights on the cab/headache rack for working in the dark. the truck my plow has been on all this time is toast, think if I ever need it again, I'll mount it on an automatic ramcharger, blazer, bronco. keep an eye on your temp gauge running on the highway, not much airflow through the plow. ;)
There's a set of tires and rims in the back on top of a load of firewood. I can lift the tires or the rims, so I could mount them on my machine, but once they're mounted I can't lift them off the machine! I had them there to go to someone to mount them up!
lol! I know your an on the ball kind of guy. it's just nice to laugh at someone other than myself every now and then. the tires piled up just struck me as comical. I'm definitely not laughing at of any of the problems the snow gave you at home. I've had to start over from scratch more than once, while I have no doubt it's doable, I know it's not a whole bunch of fun.
I was thinking you folks in the North West were getting a whole lot more snow than you are used to. Back here in Michigan, we have rain and 45 degrees. I have plowed snow once this winter, and haven't even fired up the blower at all. Very strange weather we are having! As for the idiots pulling in front of the plow, it happens EVERYWHERE! I will never figure out how people can go so brain dead the minute the ground turns white. They just completely forget how to drive and what to look out for. Keep safe,Jeff, and have fun doing it.
Finally gets some use!! I figured it would but that GMC does just fine in moving that snow. Plus, you don't have to worry about burning up and automatic with her.
A couple old enj work great as weight ! I just so,d my last plow truck! 1985 chev 3/4 Heavy plowed with it for 20 years .Bought it from a guy who brought it back from down south for $3,800 Sold it for $$3,500 20 YEARS later What a truck ,Know I have a 2013 1/2 ton nice car with 5 1/2 box but a nice Daly driver
The old GMC is getting the job done ! I'd like to have a dollar for every time I've had to plow snow over the years, Tractor and blade or truck and snow plow or a fork lift and snow plow or even a skid steer pushing snow ! LOL It's all fun ! Bandit
Man Jeff I'm envious, we have no snow and 55 degrees in Northwest Ohio. It makes it rough to ride my snowmobiles. Just keep praying I guess. My wife and others say I'm nuts, just kinda' crazy I suppose. Sure is pretty where you are.
I'm going to assume that you're actually asking how to do it WITHOUT a frame rack. SO many options! It's all dependent upon what you have available and what you want the finished product to be like. You have to be able to secure the truck opposite the pulling force. I also don't know which direction the bend is but you have to support the bent piece opposite the direction of the pull as well. As an example, a piece of threaded rod has a bend in it. If you grab it at each end and try to pull it back, you end up with a curved rod with the bend still in it. What you do then, is support the rod at the bend in a vise and then pull the rod as close to the bend as possible to get it straight again. Now the items you have to accomplish this feat I don't know either. Trees, tractors, timbers, wood blocks, I-beams, rails, chains, come-a-longs, port-a-powers, bottle jacks and floor jacks all come in to play.
When the snow starts a-fallin', There's a man you should be callin': That's KL5-4796. Let it ring! Mr. Plow is a loser And I think he is a boozer. So you better make that call to the Plow King!
I live i Alberta Canada ,and I think you did a terrific job plowing snow. Please don't hit the curb, you could bend your rocker arms. Anyway Great job and good Video. Thanks sir
When you got hung up on that bush, did you have your plow all the way up? It did not seem like it. That will help. Just remember go medium speed in that heavy wet snow, try to lift your plow right as you touch the curb. Unless you are at your place you have to look around a lot. I have plowed a fair amount in my life living in South Central Minnesota. Good luck, be safe Jeff.
With that much snow you kinda have to keep the plow angled so that it moves the snow left or right. You can push a little bit of snow straight on for a little while.
damn that ol gmc runs good. snow plowing is definatly an experiance hopfully you wont have to do that much more lol living in canada i wish i didnt have to lol.
You could also angle of your blade left or right and then before you hit the pile straight in the plow blade that will help with pushing some of that snow
Coming from Canada and plowed snow all my life . Here is my advise .Be Gentle on you equipment and don't plow up to far on a pile to far you will get stuck! also a truck should make between $100 and $ 150 per hr
Get some better tires on that beast! also, when you ram the piles, make sure the plow is straight otherwise you get pushed around side to side. Good job for the second time out though, and great video!
You would think people would stay out of your way while trying to clean parking lots but they don't. We clean the local Mall with Backhoes and Skid steers and they will run right behind or right where your trying to pile the snow.
I always found that yelling at my Yukon did not help much. PLUS it might've made me a little less sane than I already wasn't. I still don't understand why they make 4x4's without limited slip. It does no good to have the two wheels without traction spinning away. Who decided that?
Now wait a minute. You are from Lima and your first time to plow snow was now?? When did you move to Oregon? Also, satisfy a curiosity I have had for a couple of years. Did you retire from a Fire Department in Lima then decide to move west?
Yooo make me vaunt to larf..... so I will. ? would you rather have wet snow or -25 temps? We will get the wet stuff in March but we got the subzero for two weeks. Out of it now
As someone who's been plowing for most of my life I can truthfully state, you did pretty good for only your second day of plowing. Not to mention, that was some deep, heavy, slick, packing snow.
Thanks Fudd!
Does my heart good to see one of the old Chevrolets back in the day I had a 70 Chevrolet four-wheel drive on 33s with a big plow you're doing a fine job buddy
Good job Buddy....you are an asset to your community.
Wow that drive home was amazing! Those big pine trees were real nice.
Great Job plowing that snow with that small truck. Does a great job I'm sure everyone appreciated your work Jeff.
Really enjoyed the plowing and the ride home. Did a great job leading into the music with the sound of the truck engine. Thank You!
Well the snow plow held up an rolled it all away! The driver did a pretty darn good job also! Thanks for the beautiful ride home!
Fun to watch.Take It from an old Wisconsin farmer, you did good.I have pushed snow over 50 years, still am,you did good!See you at the snow pile!
Finally a snow plowing video of Old Blue . Made my day to see this video , thanks for sharing 😊
Wet snow is the best, the way it sticks to the branches is just so pretty.
This is my dream day out working in my old truck!
Beautiful sight! An old friend always said be prepared and opportunity will present itself.
was over in leavenworth wa one winter & a guy had an older 70's ford f250. chained all four, spare parts in the box of truck. damn what a site that truck was & loud as hell. looked like fun to me! 😃 👍
Beautiful scenery, thanks for the ride.
Thanks Jeff for the video, loved looking at the scenery.
Thanks for this great video! What an awesome truck you have there.
Glad you got your snow! You can have mine any time!
that truck looks so nice !
Fabulous ending and song!!! Nice change for sure. AND, beautiful scenery to boot. :--))))
I was perusing the online music libraries. The Mrs. liked that one, so I used it!

thanks I appreciate you remembering that we wanted snow plowing adventures :)
That is one tough truck, good job sir.
Don't Park in the Path of the Snow Plow......I loved that, Jeff. : )
All that Scenery was S0 Beautiful T00!
And you can see the steam rising if'n it was in your back yard!
Yea, its 52* down here again right now and Soggy also. ; )
You tell 'em buddy. I plow for some family and friends too Jeff with my '69 just like your's only I did a quick body-on resto and use an 8' Western that I love. Looks like a fun day! You even got to pull someone out!
Great video! Really enjoyed the "tour" at the end.
Nice scenery! We don't get snow in south Texas usually, but in 2004 several inches fell on Christmas morning.
Great video!! Excellent job plowing.
Wow, what a beautiful drive!!
I plowed snow for many years with a Meyers plow on a 1959 Willys FC 150. The cab forward was the best for visibility. A few more winters and you'll get the hang of it. Have fun and enjoy the heater.

Hi, good show. I think I had that same plow many years ago.... Now I plow with RC.
The last part of the video was the best. Beautiful but dangerous. First thing I do after clearing the drive is go for a ride. Great video.
That is an iron horse...best truck GM made. It will still be plowing when I am gone.

Now ya gotta tell Jeff that's not a Ram, that's a Cheby.
MostlymoparIH lol Well he did dodge a few things.....
Correction , It's a GMC.
I'd wonder about you and IH but it's too cut, dried and fried!
MC and I are jousting partners.
Having fun is what it's all about.
Hey Jeff. Snow plow driver here. Go easy on the ramming if you like the welds not being cracked on your plow and frame. Momentum is your friend when it comes to the heavy stuff. I normally drive a tandem axle dump truck.
Got to love that sounds of backing up sounds like a old school bus

I was 75 in Huntsville, AL today. I spent the whole day outside in a T-shirt and shorts.

Family first... I have a 71 3/4 ton out back, but it's kinda buried, the backhoe's broke and the shop is laying on my torch outfit. 3 strikes...
I'll keep looking and call you!!!!!
I love snow. It's the cold I can't stand! Lived in Lima for 26 years!
The idle seams high to me
Is there a vacuum leak ?

Ok,thanks.
Fun times plowing and beautiful scenery at the end. Reminds me of plowing with my dad in Wisconsin as a teenager in high school. Another great video Jeff...keep'em coming!

the truck my plow has been on all this time is toast, think if I ever need it again, I'll mount it on an automatic ramcharger, blazer, bronco.
keep an eye on your temp gauge running on the highway, not much airflow through the plow. ;)
There's a set of tires and rims in the back on top of a load of firewood. I can lift the tires or the rims, so I could mount them on my machine, but once they're mounted I can't lift them off the machine! I had them there to go to someone to mount them up!

love the video been waiting and here it is cool keep it up
Love that old Chevy. Now we know why they put the Granny gear in. What a monster.
wow sure is pretty mr.jeff sir stay warm ......
Haven't seen that much snow around my neck of the woods in years now.
But years ago that would have been a normal winter.
A couple old enj work great as weight ! I just so,d my last plow truck! 1985 chev 3/4 Heavy plowed with it for 20 years .Bought it from a guy who brought it back from down south for $3,800 Sold it for $$3,500 20 YEARS later What a truck ,Know I have a 2013 1/2 ton nice car with 5 1/2 box but a nice Daly driver
would it of helped if you had chained the wheels?
I liked that one!!
Sounds like the Jimmy Blue is idling a tad high?
Good to see the truck back in action Jeff!

The old GMC is getting the job done ! I'd like to have a dollar for every time I've had to plow snow over the years, Tractor and blade or truck and snow plow or a fork lift and snow plow or even a skid steer pushing snow ! LOL It's all fun ! Bandit
here in Canada Quebec is the snowiest place i love winter im Canadian
Man Jeff I'm envious, we have no snow and 55 degrees in Northwest Ohio. It makes it rough to ride my snowmobiles. Just keep praying I guess. My wife and others say I'm nuts, just kinda' crazy I suppose. Sure is pretty where you are.
All I can think is how much you can get done on the pickup!
Heh, I've actually started tinkering with it again. I bought some wheel cylinders and got one installed! Man that's progress!
Sr i had a question i have a 68 chevy with a bent front frame horn. How would u pull it back out with a a body shops frame do hicky machine
Now the items you have to accomplish this feat I don't know either. Trees, tractors, timbers, wood blocks, I-beams, rails, chains, come-a-longs, port-a-powers, bottle jacks and floor jacks all come in to play.
@@ElderlyIron i did pull one side which wasnt badly bent like the paasager side is i pulled it with my old 2000 chevy blazer
Yeah my only way do it my self or pay 800 bucks or do it my way
I've used a tree, a chain and reverse before!
That name again, is Mister Plow.
When the snow starts a-fallin',
There's a man you should be callin':
That's KL5-4796.
Let it ring!
Mr. Plow is a loser
And I think he is a boozer.
So you better make that call to the Plow King!
Yes, that's the correct way... Something positive is always there!
The scenery looks nice, and at least you know the plough works 8-)
A vehicle one size heavier / larger might find it less hard than old blue, though
The 56... I yearn for the day...
We ALL yearn for the day Jimmy Blue is going.
I live i Alberta Canada ,and I think you did a terrific job plowing snow. Please don't hit the curb, you could bend your rocker arms. Anyway Great job and good Video. Thanks sir
Were you able to run the factory front suspension, or did you do an add a leaf or a coil over front shock when running with the plow?
Where is this? It's beautiful there. Looks like a beautiful place without snow too.
Never mind I found it. Oregon. Yeah, you guys got dumped on this last week. Be safe!
Good luck, be safe Jeff.
my meyer is older than yours it's a E45 pump that is up & down only, sat out in someone's woods for 27 years. put on my 92 Broncoe.
I'm pretty happy with it
when you get stck some times you can use the angle of the plow to push you as you back up
Just think if you lived in Minnesota you could play with that plow all winter☺
I like it here. Rarely enough snow to plow, which is why I'm the only guy around with a plow! I grew up in snow country!
Curb, Raise, Ram, nuff said, nice vid
ol blue sounds good.I forget but isn't she a 350? It's been awhile since we got a video on Blue.Oregon looks gorgeous in winter.
More videos like that if possible...if you have the time and resources I mean.
77 truck 350, according to the block stamp. It was just a fluke that I was able to have someone operate camera 2. He did quite well, actually!
winter wonderland
is that truck even 4 wheel drive
What is the name of that truck. Old Blue?
Jeff's new mantra for life: "Kerb... Raise... RAM..."
You could also angle of your blade left or right and then before you hit the pile straight in the plow blade that will help with pushing some of that snow
Gotcha...
What is the music you are playing at the end of the vid??? The snow terminator :))).
Coming from Canada and plowed snow all my life . Here is my advise .Be Gentle on you equipment and don't plow up to far on a pile to far you will get stuck! also a truck should make between $100 and $ 150 per hr
don't forget to undercoat that beautiful truck!
No salt here!
Does the truck have the 350 v8 ?
I think he mentioned once that it was a 396 or a 402. Can't remember but I do believe it's a BB.
Oh ok .thanks
12Radius its a SBC, one of the videos where he fixes the header flanges, you can see its a smallblock.
Oh I see. thanks
pretty sure its a BBC 502. he's got a video on his channel about fixing an exhaust leak on Ole blue and mentioned it was a 502. stroked 454
is that plow electric or all hydraulic
Get some better tires on that beast! also, when you ram the piles, make sure the plow is straight otherwise you get pushed around side to side. Good job for the second time out though, and great video!
Also, always push down hill. gravity wont be your friend otherwise.
You would think people would stay out of your way while trying to clean parking lots but they don't. We clean the local Mall with Backhoes and Skid steers and they will run right behind or right where your trying to pile the snow.
I love that 3/4 ton truck , how long have you owned it ????
Since 98
I always found that yelling at my Yukon did not help much.
Lima to Schenectady to Oregon. I was only a volunteer for 10 years here.
ElderlyIron nothing like moving clear across the country! What was your profession before retirement?
Lift before you make it to the curb or pile of snow in the blade will lift up into the snow and stack better
No outtakes? Nice plowing vid so good job!
Yooo make me vaunt to larf..... so I will. ? would you rather have wet snow or -25 temps? We will get the wet stuff in March but we got the subzero for two weeks. Out of it now
