I went to waldorf preschool to 8th grade and it’s the most wonderful experience of my life. I share it with everyone and I can recollect everything. My mom was a Waldorf kindergarten teacher and I wish everyone can have this childhood experience. I’m 28 this week and I still to this day discover things that I have learned in a deeper light as an adult.

I wish I could have gone to this kind of school as a child. I was thrust into violent public school as a highly sensitive person at age 8, after being homeschooled. It was awful. I was in and out of juvenile delinquent schools and public school my whole school life bc I hated school so much. It was so stressful for me. At 14 I was fighting other girls in class and people were regularly being carted away in abulances for overdosing on opiods. In highschool it was all about gangs and I was being offered gang bangs behind the bleachers. This looks like paradise in comparison.

Same! My teachers were a bunch of Jerks(except 1 or 2). They would embarass me when I asked questions so I would stop. Then in parent teacher conferences say that I never ask questions and day dream all day. I feel like it was basically being around a bunch of bullies all day that hated their job and all the teachers just blamed the students. My first two sons attended public school and my 1 son had roughly the same experience. But because his dad and me were separated, he would never let me put him in homeschool. Now I'm homeschooling my other kids with my husband, and in the beginning it was daunting. But now I'm watching my daughter grow in writing, math and reading, a love for gardening. It's been very therapeutic and healing for me to redo for my children what I needed. It was like I had to tell myself, "You're allowed to love learning again." Since then, we've been busy working away, in a fulfilling and joyful way. The second she or I gets frustrated that's my signal that there's another way we can approach it. Learning how my child learns helps so much!

Many public schools aren't even teaching social studies or science anymore since it's not on state testing. If they do, it's very minimal. It's all reading, writing and math.

To understand Waldorf schools, you need to study anthroposophy, as it is the religion which underlies the curriculum.

Waldorf is about connecting with nature. That is not a religion or belief system. Religion or belief systems are man made phenomenon to control others so that you can hide your own insecurities. Nature has no religion or belief systems. The air you breathe or water you drink doesn't care about your nonsensical religions or belief systems. They treat everyone as just life (including animals, trees, insects etc)
Nature only has sensible laws, which treats all life as equal, because in reality they are equal. All the divisions of religion, race, color, beliefs, gender etc are created by repetitive habits of insecure human minds. Anthroposophy and Waldorf systems focus on this natural truth of life.

    • @queengoblin
