So lovely to see you back! I love your Sundays with Sarah and re watch often. My son is almost grown now - almost 16, and we've just come to the end of waldorf inspired home education in the UK. He's off to college in September. I regret very much that we didn't home educate from the start and that I didn't know about Waldorf when he was infant age. I wanted to say that what you said about the teacher staying with the children all through school really chimed with me; we found that each year my son was in school, the teachers would start the year almost disbelieving that my son needed extra help (dyslexia, hypermobility) and by the time they'd got to know him and realised yes, he did need help, he was off to the next year and a new teacher, and that whole process started again. Hence, eventually, we gave up and home educated! I hope you'll post more Sundays with Sarah soon :-)
Thank you, Jess! My plan is start posting a new video again every week now. My grown son Harper, a filmmaker, has been really helpful in getting the series going again. It's so hard as our children approach adulthood, to not have regrets about things we wish we'd done differently, isn't it? But we have to constantly remind ourselves that we did the best we could with the information we had at the time. I often say that Waldorf teachers may not be experts in every subject, but over eight years, they become an expert on the children in their class.
Your son is obviously a credit to you! And yes - you have summed it up perfectly, that's all children really need isn't it, adults who know them and love them and they'll do the rest in their own time! x
Hi! My son is almost 13 and he has Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and Dysgraphia. He is also Dyspraxic. I have been homeschooling him for four years now after he consistently fell behind year after year in public school. We haven't found anything that works for him yet and he is at like a 3rd grade math level. Is it too late to begin this teaching method with him? I have an 11 month old and 15 month old that I want to begin the process with soon too.
I'm a Waldorf kid, having attended the Marburg Germany school. You did a great job explaining it, as I've always struggled to help my American friends to understand what it was about. You actually made me understand where some parts of me were made, and why I am so lucky to have had such a great educational experience. 35 years later, most all my class is still in close contact. Virtually all of us have led successful, fulfilling lives.
Planzwrecker Smith thank you for giving your experience! My daughter is almost 2 and I heard about this for the first time today so, I started researching. I appreciate reading the experience of an a former student! 🙏🏾 Namaste.
Would this be a good choice for autistic/ special needs children? Do you allow other therapies to come in during preschool like Occupational and physical therapies?
@@Ctinari, this education is the best for autistic children. Because in this school are special groups for everyone. In german I could explain better 😅. I saw the children in a german waldorf school, the teacher work mich more than other teacher. They work with heart for every kind of children.

Hey, 16-year-old girl from China here. My parents transferred me to a Waldorf kindergarten very early on because I was struggling emotionally in traditional kindergarten (Waldorf kindergarten was a lot more expensive so that's probably why we didn't go in the first place). My Waldorf journey ended when I was 7 when I went on to study in a very academically focused traditional Chinese school. I then transferred to an American curriculum school, and now I am in a British curriculum school. But it is safe to say my years in Waldorf really surely helped me grow emotionally and to live, for lack of a better word, happily with my thoughts. I remember it was a place filled with love and support. Academically, it is hard to assess the skills I picked up along the way. This is just my personal experience, but hope this helps.
I would have LOVED this style of education as a child. I am the type of person who is passionate about all art: theatre, music, drawing, dance, painting, knitting, cross stitch, sewing- all of it! Traditional schooling cultivated crippling OCD for me and has made natural creativity difficult, as I am so terrified of failure.
Barely saw this video so sorry for such a late reply lol but yes to all of this. Regular education systems here in America don't support creative outlets very much and when they do have anything it's rarely actually enjoyable unless you get lucky with a passionate teacher.
My 2 kids who have already graduated from A Waldorf School and one in his last year in the school agrees that this is the best thing we ever did for them. And when they leave they miss mostly their teachers because they really felt they were loved and understood, really seen as an individual.

So glad you are back! Your voice is so pleasant to listen to. Maintaining that calm peaceful state can be hard around little children. You seem to do it very well.
I was looking for a video to help me understand certain theorists and approaches for my college work and this has been the most useful video iv watched about it and it does make me wanna learn more about these types of schools.
So nice to watch a video about Waldorf education! I went to Waldorf School from children garden to high school, such a beautiful and magical school, I feel so lucky for getting the change to experience it. And I love how you described it, it's very difficult to summarise such a big thing in a nutshell, you did it amazingly 🖤
How lucky you are, Valentina, to have been able to go to a Waldorf school through high school! I think I decided to become a Waldorf teacher after my first visit to a Waldorf school, wishing that I had had a Waldorf education. Thanks for your kind comment. That's quite an endorsement coming from someone who attended a Waldorf school for so many years!
When I learned about Waldorf kids having the same teacher for all those years, wherever I read about it pointed out that it's about prioritizing the relationships with classmates and the teacher over mastering a certain grade's material. Hello Sarah, Great videos you have, Thanks for all the information. I went to a Steiner school in Sydney Australia, I remember in the mornings we would stand at our desks with our hands across our chest and stand silently for a minute or two, i think to calm everyone down and get ready to learn. But i remember that they used to have like a poem or something that we would say during these minutes, do you know what that poem or saying would be? Also how come Eurythmy is never really talked about in videos or information for parents? Thanks keep up the great videos.
Love this! I was wondering you could do a video on living Waldorf/ Waldorf homeschool in a small space? My daughter is almost 2 and we live in a small apartment, and that likely won't change any time soon. I feel like I'm always struggling to find a good rhythm and organization for different toys and activities. We've already minimized our general possessions and try to keep things simple, but it feels like a challenge to create a rhythmic space for my daughter. Any insight would be so very appreciated!
Thanks for watching and commenting, Madalyn! This is a great question, and one that I would be happy to address in a future video. Stay tuned! xo Sarah
Hi i m ami. I m a teacher in Indonesia. I m so interested when it comes abt learning new method/program/curriculm of teaching. I ve been observing cambridge, montessori, regio emilia. Honestly this waldrof is something new from me and i m so glad that i found ur video. Pls keep updating. I hope that i can learn more abt it frm u. Thanks for sharing.
As I’m learning more about the Waldorf school system, my 5th grade class was selected to loop to 6th grade and that was public school. A lot of concepts I’m seeing in this system were used in the public school system that I attend back in the mid to late 90’s. And oddly enough, there was and still is a Waldorf school across the street of the public primary elementary school I attended.
Thank you very much for the video, they are very important concepts that have helped me to have more alternatives to deal with music teaching issues. Very well explained content. Greetings from Brazil
IAM starting forest school qualification. Look at gowildeducation as she is a steiner qualified teacher as well! as well as level 1 is free online! But boom.. this is the awakening.. and you my friend could start your own group!!! As the leader yeeees
Sunday with Sarah We are new to homeschool and Waldorf and many of your videos have helped me gain better understanding on the philosophy but also ways of implementing it in our home.
Thank you sooo much Sarah as always you are amazing! I love your video, so educational so inspiring to understand the core of Waldorf education.. wish my kids had Waldorf Education to attend.. sadly Lebanon lacks such education system:( I am really interested to start my own Waldorf Day Care.. 😍
To whom it may concern, I am a lifetime Waldorf alum and could write a whole thesis about the beauty of Waldorf education. I want to take this time, however, to warn any parent who may be considering sending their children, that AWSNA, who owns the rights to the name Waldorf and therefore has great influence, is proactively engaged in promoting anti-racist curriculums in the respective schools. If you are not familiar with the term "anti-racist", it may seem harmless enough, but when you study the way the term is used by its advocates, what you find is that the term itself invokes divisiveness and is, dare I say, racist! that is to say, it promotes the idea that white people are the problem. This couples nicely nicely with the Neo-Marxist concepts of white male dominated capitalist society being the cause of all our problems. If you agree with those concepts you will probably like the way many Waldorf Schools today our now trending. If you believe in the power of the individual human being, however, and in human freedom, you may be disappointed. but If you are considering, I would still check it out at your respective school because it ALL depends on the teacher!
On the main lesson book I like the concept. What if the child is not interested in that subject. Are they to tolerate it. Is that not a waste of their energy and time when they have a choice to do something that has their interest.
I'm interested in possibly enrolling my children in a Waldorf school. The tuition is a bit offputting, though. For example, a kindergartener has tuition around $7,500, while a third grader is slightly under $11,000. These numbers don't include fees. I wonder whether the tuition is similar for Waldorf elsewhere.
I would never recommend Waldorf. My younger family member lost morals, became rude, and developed disrespect to me as a result. Rudolph Steiner's belief system is so eccentric, (ego-centric!) so unsupported by evidence, so manifestly bizarre, that rational skeptics are bound to consider it delusional.
That seems incredibly cheap to me. In NYC, the Waldorf school is almost $40,000 - $51,000 a year. In Long Island, NY, Waldorf is $25,000-$30,000. I now live in TN, and we have here one of the lowest costs of living in the USA. Our private school, which is not strictly Waldorf, but does borrow aspects of it, is $13,500. If it’s 13k here, I can’t fathom where you live where it’s cheaper than that!?
@@tulayamalavenapi4028 you are commenting on tons of things and just repeating the comments. I'm confused why you say they are rude when the waldorf method focuses mostly on empathy. Every comment I see from you is super uneducated on the subject.
I’ve been doing research about schooling options for my daughter which led me to the Waldorf. I stumbled across the teacher survival guide that was published in 1992 which says “ most of that which contributes our work as teachers, preparation work, artistic work, even meditative work, is under the guardianship of Lucifer”. Can you please explain Waldorfs History and current beliefs and ties to Lucifer and witchcraft?
Don't waste your time, friend. Rudolph Steiner's belief system is so eccentric, (ego-centric!) so unsupported by evidence, so manifestly bizarre, that rational skeptics are bound to consider it delusional. I had a family member who went to a Waldorf School, and had no problem ruining my relationship with said member.
Hi Sarah! I just discovered you and wow I just love your videos. You exude such beauty, softness and intelligence. I need to learn what you do to have such perfect skin! You're glowing! Anywho, I have a 5.5 year old and a 2.5 year old. My 5.5 has always seemed 2 years ahead intellectually however I still want to respect her emotional intelligence. I am very new to Waldorf but I love what I am learning and feel it aligns with my goals. I plan to homeschool and would like to know what you would recommend. Do I continue down an age 5 path of just play even though she is already reading writing and doing math or do I move her on to elementary level bc I am having such a hard time challenging her. She loves math, science, engineering and technology even though we don't have tv or tablet time except on rare occasions or special nights. Hope you can help guide me. I'll continue watching your videos to learn more.
Thank you for the short info. It helps me to know resources for Waldorf education. Anybody know that, Waldorf education is good for high functioning Autistic kid? If you have experience, please share..... Thank you.🙏

sorry someone have this video with subtitles in Spanish? I want to share this with mi mom (it's a teacher) but she doesn't speak English, so I would so glad if someone have this video or a similar video on Spanish, thanks anyway c:
I wish I went to a Waldorf school 😞. I would have been so much a better person. They didn’t exist where and when I went to school and even if I could have it is very expensive as they are private.
@@ellagalle I'm 15 years old and have been in waldorf education since I was 7....in the area I live in....I stood out as 'one of those kids that goes to the weird school' the system has no focus whatsoever on exams or academic lifestyle... Which is important because without qualifications you cant really get a job very easily
Rudolph Steiner's belief system is so eccentric, (ego-centric!) so unsupported by evidence, so manifestly bizarre, that rational skeptics are bound to consider it delusional. I have a younger family member who went to a Waldorf school. It ruined said member in many ways.
I've never seen that, I've seen many successful people in stem programs in college from these schools. The students always tend to do better than the average public school
Sure, and this is coming form your background in higher education or because these schools say so. You should actually look at the statistics coming from the university’s. Also take in to consideration those kids you say go off and excel In these fields had outside tutors to supplement their education.
Please read Jennifer Sapio’s article before you send your child to this school and read up on the Children of God and Scientology. Do a quick compare and contrast. This organisation has destroyed my family.
Gee, its only $10K/ year/ child PLUS they get MY TAX DOLLARS so kids can have story time and art classes? Gee taking people's money and telling stories, sounds like another church to me.
Really, the most important thing for a teacher in dealing with pre-reading age children is the correct use of air quotes. Without that the century old teaching methodology of Waldorf education crumbles. Glad I read this comment and avoided sending my four kids through Waldorf, with my oldest graduating with honors and landing a dream job at Google. Oh, wait, no I did send my kids through Waldorf school, and it was inspiring and wonderful. Haters gonna hate.

You were going for witty but ended up strawmanning at best or being too daft to understand what I actually said at worst. "...with my oldest graduating with honors and landing a dream job at Google." Glad your kid landed his dream tech job by attending a school that treats technology as an evil hindrance on intelligence. As long as your kid didn't land this job despite the shitty school you send them to, and/or you aren't some pathologic liar, lying about your successful kid. "Oh, wait, no I did send my kids through Waldorf school, and it was inspiring and wonderful." Unfortunately for your children, it's your legal right to send your kids to whatever ridiculous excuse for a school you see fit. I don't really care. "Hater's gonna hate." I made a harmless and perceptive joke. It bore no judgment on Waldorf education, not serious judgment, anyway. You are the hater here, you thin-skinned fool. Edit: Grammar
The only thing I don't like about Waldorf is it's not cruelty free. Many of the traditional materials involve animal products such as beeswax, wool, leather and silk. I love the philosophy and just swap out materials for cheaper vegan versions.
Your methods and thus philosophy is opposite of the Prussia based educational model ref: (ua-cam.com/video/HvHDcSY_yfo/v-deo.html) - great news. "The Prussian education system (not a Wikipedia link), still used to this day in most countries worldwide, originated in the early 18th century as a way to instill absolute obedience and uniformity in the students under the guise of education. What the students wanted and thought was irrelevant-the Prussian education system was there to teach them minimal literacy and indoctrinate them into believing in the infallibility of the supreme authority (Prussian King Fredrick William I at the time). The end result was a useful generic worker, readily replaceable and dispensable."
- continued: "Unfortunately, the dangers of the public school system go beyond attempting to mold the minds of the youth. The public school institutions in America and abroad have been infiltrated by intelligence agencies desperate to recruit the brightest minds of the future. In the book, Spy Schools: How the CIA, FBI and Foreign Intelligence Secretly Exploit America’s Universities, investigative journalist Daniel Golden details the exploitative relationship between higher education and intelligence services, both foreign and domestic. Golden examines various case studies illustrating how the Central Intelligence Agency and Federal Bureau of Investigation use higher education to their advantage." source: irasocol.medium.com/the-prussian-model-and-the-failure-of-personal-ethics-83cf46602c92

Honestly this waldrof is something new from me and i m so glad that i found ur video. Pls keep updating. I hope that i can learn more abt it frm u. Thanks for sharing.
Since to meet u super videos I like you way of speaking Waldorf system because of i am entering Waldorf education
These schools have racist principles woven through them.
Please watch this: ua-cam.com/video/WpOXitdxzk4/v-deo.html
Thank you very much for the video, they are very important concepts that have helped me to have more alternatives to deal with music teaching issues. Very well explained content.
Greetings from Brazil
Wonderful information! I can’t help but notice how beautiful you are from the inside out!! Love how you carry yourself 🌸🌺 True definition of beauty!
So excited that you're back doing these videos! ❤️
I am too, Taryn! It's what I love doing more than anything. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
You've sold out to me. I just wish there was a Steiner school closer to our home
you’re a pyscho. brain washed
IAM starting forest school qualification. Look at gowildeducation as she is a steiner qualified teacher as well! as well as level 1 is free online! But boom.. this is the awakening.. and you my friend could start your own group!!! As the leader yeeees
@@danieldiaz4584 okay you brain washed weirdo lol i dont even know what the fuck you’re talking about
I was in a Waldorf school without even knowing about it until recently when I started looking into it haha
Sarah, so glad you’re back. Thank you for this video.
Thank you, ablindgibsongirl. I'm glad to be back!
Thank you so much for sharing with us. I found this quite helpful.
Thank you, Helen! I'm so happy to hear that you found it helpful. That's my goal!
Sunday with Sarah We are new to homeschool and Waldorf and many of your videos have helped me gain better understanding on the philosophy but also ways of implementing it in our home.
Amazing explanation
Thank you Sarah🙏
Is there a certificate program or anything that one can take to be certified as a Waldorf teacher?
Thank you sooo much Sarah as always you are amazing! I love your video, so educational so inspiring to understand the core of Waldorf education.. wish my kids had Waldorf Education to attend.. sadly Lebanon lacks such education system:(
I am really interested to start my own Waldorf Day Care.. 😍
To whom it may concern,
I am a lifetime Waldorf alum and could write a whole thesis about the beauty of Waldorf education.
Nice to see you again! Love your videos!
Thank you, Hazel RC!
♥️♥️♥️always love watching you Sarah;) found you two years ago & watched the HECK out of the old videos♥️♥️♥️
I absolutely love your shawl
On the main lesson book I like the concept. What if the child is not interested in that subject. Are they to tolerate it. Is that not a waste of their energy and time when they have a choice to do something that has their interest.
Well you cannot not learn how to add even if you don’t like math. Doesn’t mean you have to take calculus but you need basic skills
Do the children get to keep the textbooks they make?
I’m glad that I am on a Waldorf school
I would have appreciated a list of these five examples enumerated in the description along with timestamps.
1. Non- Academic Preschool 0:50
2. Storytelling 2:08
3. Integrated Arts 2:52
4. Class Teacher Looping 4:45
5. Main Lesson Books 6:45
There you go! Enjoy!
What is the kind of support one may get if they want to start a Waldorf education based school
Well depends
I'm interested in possibly enrolling my children in a Waldorf school. The tuition is a bit offputting, though. For example, a kindergartener has tuition around $7,500, while a third grader is slightly under $11,000. These numbers don't include fees. I wonder whether the tuition is similar for Waldorf elsewhere.
May I ask what country this is? The nearest Waldorf school to me has fees of around $3600 for every grade. This is in Australia
@@ellagalle Hello. The tuition I mentioned is in American dollars. I'm outside of New Orleans.
Thank you so much for this insightful video!
Can u please tell me about art paintings and clay modeling
I've wanted to be a Waldorf Educator
Omg, I want to teach in a school like this!
Thanks for the video! I've been following you quite a while. Hope all is well.
Greetings from Malaysia!
You're welcome, Lynn. Thanks for commenting, and sending greetings back to you from the other side of the world!
So happy to see a new video! Hope your well! Blessings ♡
Fill 'em with wonder , thank you! All is well. Hope you are, too.
If I live in Pennsylvania, How do I go about enrolling my children in a Waldorf School?
Google Waldorf Schools in Pennsylvania??
The best preschools combine Steiner and Montessori. I went to a preschool that could be described as "if Steiner and Montessori had a baby".
Well done.
Thank you.🙏

Can i waldorf homeschool?
🤎🙏🏾 thank you kindly
I'm surprised you do not mention anything about anthroposophy
Love this!
So glad! Thank you, LoLoandMommyVlogs.
I dont remember ever sitting at a desk before the age of 6
I don't remember ever sitting at a desk... I still don't!
Can Waldorfs survive this competitive capitalist world? Since they don't have any textbooks in maths and sciences
sorry someone have this video with subtitles in Spanish? I want to share this with mi mom (it's a teacher) but she doesn't speak English, so I would so glad if someone have this video or a similar video on Spanish, thanks anyway c:
Watch at 1.5x speed. She really takes a long ass time to say a simple thing.
I’m currently listening in 1.75x speed
I feel your pain
I wish I went to a Waldorf school 😞. I would have been so much a better person.
They didn’t exist where and when I went to school and even if I could have it is very expensive as they are private.
🙏👍 wonderful
Waldorf education ruined my childhood in a social sense and academic sense.
Can I ask what happened? I’m quite curious about this whole concept but your comment has me concerned suddenly
How? Every student I've seen has been better than an average student.
Waldorf in a Nutshell: CULT.
The closest one to me is 2 hours away. So hurt.
👁️🎵🎵🎵
What a bunch of crap those kids are always the worst in STEM clases
I've never seen that, I've seen many successful people in stem programs in college from these schools. The students always tend to do better than the average public school
Sure, and this is coming form your background in higher education or because these schools say so. You should actually look at the statistics coming from the university’s. Also take in to consideration those kids you say go off and excel In these fields had outside tutors to supplement their education.
Waldorf Education is outdated .
Please read Jennifer Sapio’s article before you send your child to this school and read up on the Children of God and Scientology. Do a quick compare and contrast. This organisation has destroyed my family.
Send the ink 🔗
Gee, its only $10K/ year/ child PLUS they get MY TAX DOLLARS so kids can have story time and art classes?
Gee taking people's money and telling stories, sounds like another church to me.
Or a proven way to teach kids successfully rather than how normal American public schools "teach"
She isn't using air quotes appropriately you can totally trust her with your kids guys. Lmao 🤦🏻♀️
@Cultivating Curiosity You must be Waldorf educated. 🤦🏻♀️

"...with my oldest graduating with honors and landing a dream job at Google."
Glad your kid landed his dream tech job by attending a school that treats technology as an evil hindrance on intelligence. As long as your kid didn't land this job despite the shitty school you send them to, and/or you aren't some pathologic liar, lying about your successful kid.
"Oh, wait, no I did send my kids through Waldorf school, and it was inspiring and wonderful."
Unfortunately for your children, it's your legal right to send your kids to whatever ridiculous excuse for a school you see fit.
@Enchanted Homeschool it is still harming the animals in the process just like milk. The way we get these things are no cruelty free.
@PhDangerously Over Educated yeah bees maybe but how cows milk is mass produced is pretty tragic.
Man sounds fit for this kind of school, all right
Your methods and thus philosophy is opposite of the Prussia based educational model ref: (ua-cam.com/video/HvHDcSY_yfo/v-deo.html) - great news.
