No, there was still some goofiness in Prequel!Yoda, given his interactions with the Younglings in AOTC. "Lost a planet, Master Obi-Wan has. How embarrassing. How embarrassing."
@@AdeptKing missing the point here, part of Yoda’s whole thing is that you don’t expect him to be a Jedi master by the way he acts! Looks can be deceiving. You’re missing the whole point of what makes him such a compelling character by getting bogged down in useless explanations.
This is yoda at his best. The prequels played up his seriousness and wisdom but Yoda is at his best as a character when he's being just a little bit cheeky. Also what a power move to disarm her and then hand the lightsabers back. If she hadn't detonated that cliff Yoda would have t-posed on Ventress next.
In my opinion his way of humiliating his opponents is a very good way of teaching people If you cush there ego they will try and redeem themselves practicing to become better at what they were humiliated in
He definitely had some good one liners in the prequels too… asking Sidious “if so strong you are… why run?” Or hitting Dooku with the “much to learn you still have”
Ventress’s face when Yoda tossed the lightsabers back was priceless! Also I love how Yoda had assumed nothing changed and was still ready to negotiate with King Katuko about wanting a base on Toydaria
The fact that Yoda didn't even swing his light saber once and used simple force against Ventress to grab both of her swords just tells people that he wasn't even trying. Yoda is a true Jedi Master.
He actually wouldn't have at all in the first place. Alot of people seem to think Yoda is just trolling an apprentice by not drawing his lightsaber. However a master swordsman never draws his sword against an unworthy opponent. By drawing your sword you're showing your opponent that they are worthy of your skill. This is why many Samurai learn the martial arts as well. So they disarm unworthy opponents without needing to draw their blade. They may draw it partly but only to jab their opponent in the gut with the hilt. They never fully draw their sword against an unworthy opponent. The best example of this is Zuko in Avatar the Last Airbender. In Zuko Alone he fights lowly Earth Kingdom soldiers not worth his time with pure hand to hand combat. It was only when Gow stepped into battle did he draw his dual swords because he knew that being an Earth Kingdom officer Gow would be a tough opponent.
You can tell she was taught by Dooku, she used nearly the same BS trick that he did to get away from him in Star Wars Episode 2. Yoda: Same Bullshit, the dark side always teach. Fall for it every time, I do.

Compared to how The Empire supposedly has already won the war and rules the galaxy and yet the rebels (in the rebels series) hardly ever suffered losses despite having even less Jedi and more of regular soldiers often outnumbered and outgunned. That's the difference. And its why I will always love the Clone Wars era. He knew he wasnt powerful enough and so went into hiding knowing that he would one day train someone that was.
@@jorionrange8336 it's not that Yoda as an individual was more powerful than Sidious, it's stated in one of the books that Sidious won because the Sith had spent over a thousand years gearing themselves towards the defeat of the Jedi, whereas the Jedi themselves were practically ignoring the possibility that Sith still existed. In the end, Sidious had prepared his whole life (more or less) for that moment and Yoda had not.
I love how yoda quite literally solves this problem with one hand lol. Little force here to stop ventress from killing her target. And then some more force to prevent himself and the others from being crushed. And just moves on with his day lol.
And I imagine that both of them regret having to fight against each other. Yoda obviously feels that way while Dooku despite his crimes and being a Sith Lord still had some of his old self in him right up until his death in ROTS.
@@SukatoKjolen It's what childish anarchist wannabes say to cover the fact that if they ever got Force like abilities, they would act like complete scum.
I'll never get over how both Darth Sidious, Dooku AND Ventress just RAN from Yoda because they knew they were outmatched by him. One reason why Yoda is probably my favorite character in Star Wars.
See I don't think he was trash talking her there. I think he was actually speaking of her connection to the dark side itself - strong, but not enough for her to be totally consumed by it, evidenced by the power that comes with this.
I don't think Dooku gave her to hard a time for getting humiliated by Yoda, since Dooku himself couldn't beat him. Even Sidious barely beat him. And that could have almost been called a draw.
1:20 Has her dead to rights. Gives her back her lightsabers, THEN tells her to surrender? That's Goku-level stupid. Yoda's responsible for every Jedi she kills after this. That's a lot, for the record.
Generally if you want to make someone surrender, you don't improve their position immediately beforehand. You really shouldn't help your adversary at all, or give them chances to hurt you further. And he had the power to capture her, right then and there, with little to no fuss. But he didn't, because he tried to be cute.
The normal sabre has a piece of the blade broken off. And the king was perfectly okay with death at the hands of the Ventress. He didn't know Yoda would save him. That's impressive bravery.
How badass is Yoda. He has time for pleasantries as he holds back a powerful Smith trying their hardest to move their sabers a few more inches to kill that toydarian
Yoda: First I'm going to use the force to hold you, push you away, take your weapons, insult you, and then give them back to you, all in front of your teacher. Boss Jedi!!
Yoda really showed how you have a character brag about his strength without seeming cocky he litteraly just went "Oh yeah you're good... Not god enough to beat me however"
Count Dooku didn't train Ventress only on lightsaber combat and force powers. He also trained her on how to escape from Yoda. *Throw something heavy at him and then get outta the planet!*
I love the sound design when Ventress swings her lightsabers at the king, and they’re brought to a dead halt by Yoda. In attack of the clones and revenge of the sith, we saw Yoda foregoing his cane when he knew the situation was dire (duels with Dooku and Palpatine). Not doing so here just shows he feels not at all threatened by Ventress, shown to us by his next actions of easily disarming her through the Force (which we very rarely see in Star Wars), RETURNING her sabers to prove a point, and then offering to accept her surrender. Another comment below made a good point that Yoda really is best portrayed as the wise old teacher who’s understanding of the Force is so deep, he doesn’t need to use a lightsaber for “aggressive negotiations” (similar to the concept behind the character design of the Emperor in episode VI). I love those duels with Dooku and Palpatine, but I may just love this moment more.

Count Dooku could have taught her so much more. She would have been an extremely powerful foe if he had given her normal training :/. I guess these days Sith no longer teach their apprentices at least half of what they know? Kylo Ren could have been so much more if he had normal Sith training but his masters were like "Nah".

You can see it and even slightly hear it in his voice that he really wants to kill him with force lightning and then cut his corpse into tiny pieces but can't because he would get his ass handed to him on a silver platter in a moment he would move if he was there.

Surprised when he stopped the rocks from falling on him he didn't throw them at her ship. But maybe that's not his style.
Very impressive how Asaji went from someone that Yoda toys with to someone Sidiuous actually sees as a potential threat in just a few years

@@yegmeshjwp usual jedi nonsense
