Congratulations, ben. We can only thank you for the great work you did when you were ahead in the development of this project. And we have to thank you even more for still feeling motivated to continue sharing important tips with us in your unique way of viewing and exploring the resources of the glorious DL's! I think it would be interesting to address in one of the next videos the details that involve the rescue of Shows, Snapshots (channel safes) and other resources that you find interesting to discuss. There are many users (me for example) who are afraid to use these resources during an event, and because of that we ended up not taking advantage of the resources of this important utility. Thanks for all!
Hi Ben, I just wanted to say thanks really for your work in developing the platform. In 25 years of live sound it has been the single biggest game changer piece of technology for me and my team. If I’m out on the road touring with a band its so reassuring to work on the same platform every night, and if Im running a festival it brings about too many advantages to list over traditional consoles. I consider myself an advanced user, we do tricks like off-lining with a third ipad, inputting the “next bands” channels and bringing it back online for immediate channel sharing to monitor ipad, and FOH ipad. I feel sorry that the product is overlooked by much of the professional community as two minutes with the software makes you realise its head and shoulder above the competition at ANY level or price tag. The R&D that has gone in, and execution is incredible. Its revolutionised the way we work and you really don’t miss the hardware faders! (Especially their weight!) couple of questions if I may...1) I understand you were a significant contributor to the project, does this mean the product line / software has an uncertain future? And 2) is anyone ever going to confess over the ribbon cable issue on the Dl32R?! I have 3 DL32s and many fallback plans in place so the ribbon issue would never affect me greatly..but its always there in the back of mind. One of my units has suffered already...i believe it to be a thing called fretting corrosion. Either way, I always have a spare and the positives outweigh the negatives every time! Thanks again!
Glad you like the mixer so much. Using the multi iPad approach with the offline capabilities is definitely a powerful combination. 1. I left Mackie to pursue other opportunities about 1.5 years ago. That's the only reason I used the past tense. I obviously believe in the future of the product or I wouldn't be making these videos. 2. Mackie will obviously have to speak to that issue. But I know their support is always there to help so if you haven't contacted them, I would start with that.
Thanks Ben, I guess more what I was wondering with question 1 is if the overall direction of the product has an uncertain future. The software is so well implemented in that it has all the features you’d expect but without any clutter or over complication. A lot of deaks/apps are too configurable such that they become useless in a live situation. Masterfader seems to have that difficult balance spot on. Im also aware how much a difference an individual can make to a project or organisation. Do you mind me asking who you are working with now? Still in pro audio sector I assume?!
Gotcha. I have no real knowledge of their long term plans. I hope it continues to get the support it deserves. As for me, I am doing product management consulting in the pro audio industry. So the same thing I was doing at Mackie but for any company that wants to hire me. Usually this is on a short term basis for a particular project. Gives me a lot of variety.
Hey Rob, thanks for your kind words. Full disclosure, I do work for Mackie, but not on the product side - I lead sales in the western US & Canada, and am a DL32R user. I agree that Ben/Mackie's execution of the DL / MF platform is incredible. After years representing another company that I'm still truly fond of, Master Fader is in fact head and shoulders above other hardware control apps out there. I can't speak to the ribbon cable issue, although I've heard about users experiencing outages because of it. Curious - where in the world are you located? I'm first dot last at mackie if I can be of help to you.
Hi, is there a possibility to create a side chain between two channels with the effect, that e.g. pre-specified frequencies of the bass channel will be lowered 6dB just at the moment the kick drum is hit ? Another pusage of this side chain could be a lowering of sound pressure level of the guitar right at the moment the voice is using this frequency too.
This is so cool Ben! Good to see you back with the Mackie products! Maybe you can influence Mackie's management to convince them that the AXIS system has an incredible potential for the future. Therefore the system should be further developed and supported. But I would appreciate if you had some tips and tricks about the AXIS too.
I think the fact that Ben is sharing this new information about Master Fader has already made Mackie move and release the new update, which includes the Axis control surface (coincidence or not)! Long live Master Fader, DL's mixers and Ben Allswang! =)
Hernane Alves Ha ha I think we all were very surprised about this update. But I am more than happy with it. Mackie demonstrates us that AXIS is not dead yet. From my perspective Master Fader, the DL series and AXIS are the most „musical“ gear I have ever used. User friendly, intuitive and good sounding, ultra flexible. The development of these products was a really great job Ben! I really regret that in Germany Mackie is not on top of the best seller lists for wireless mixers although the DL‘s are superior to the competitors. Think Mackie did a bad marketing in the past. also especially with the AXIS system.
Hi Sir, thanks so much for the impartation of knowledge to us here. I must say, i have really enjoy every bit of your tutorials. But can you please make a tutorial solely on Matrix, Routing and the essential use of Return 1-2, 3-4 on the master fader 5 for us?
Really helpful. Please keep them coming.... an in-depth discussion about that 'effing Matrix would save me a lot of money on beer...
Glad you liked it. The matrix is a great suggestion. I’ll cover it for sure. Thanks.
This is and EXCELLENT video. It addressed just what I was looking for. Thank you.

Thanks for kind words. Looking at Shows, Snapshots and Safes is a great idea. I’ll definitely cover them.

Thanks Thomas. I definitely have Axis Tips to share. I don’t have one at the moment but probably can borrow one. I’ll see what I can do.

I have a DL16s and Master Fader 5.2 on Android and PC. Why can't I find the Dynamics section within Master Fader?
Who do I make changes to the eq for monitors and FOH and not effect each other? Thanks Dave
Nice job, Ben. I miss working with you, brother!
Thanks. Miss you too. Hope you are well.
Thank you, I learned something. Keep the videos coming. I love my DL32s
Great! Working on the next one already.
🙀 who knew! Lol, now I’ll start using the Auto View properly! Keep the vids coming! 👍
Awesome!
Anybody using the DL for multi track recording interface to DAW in the studio?
Can you please update firmware to stop dropping Wi-Fi connection. That would be great
How do you turn reverb on?
