He gets paid just as much as the rest of them. It’s all divided equally.
From the moment he joined the other band members had already agreed that he would receive an equal share of income!

This guy is awesome! Yes yes we know no one will replace Steve Perry. But I give Arnel his credit. He has an amazing voice and is doing a fantastic job
I also saw Journey last night in Beaumont, TX. It was a wonderful show. I was very pleasantly surprised. I am definitely a renewed fan of Journey. Arnel's voice is great and I agree that his energy and passion were incredible. They played a wide variety of songs and I didn't want it to be over when it ended. The time flew! I hope to see them again!

I was in the Marine Corps in 1980 I was over seas in the Philippines and when I went out to the clubs at night I found allot of bands that played American music they impressed me very much as a guitar player myself. I'm glad this guy found a place in what he loves to do, and yes the people in the Philippines are mostly poor it was sad to see.

I just watched Journey tonight and this man done a very very great job...His voice is extremely similar to that of Steve Perry. He did a great job and had a lot of energy and Journey is one of the very few bands that are better live than on a CD.
He was a singer here in Hong Kong for a while, and I knew a bunch of other filipino musicians in his circles (HK is a very small place). Filipinos are VERY musical people so it's not too surprising he got the gig!

I know a lot of great vocalists out there, but what makes Arnel Pineda’ special is he can be sounds like those great vocalists and not just his own great vocal. How cool is that?! So that’s why He is the best male vocalist in the world for me🔥

Arnel has a heart of gold. He has helped put out two foundations for the benefit of streetchildren of Manila. He once was one like them. He's just about to wrap up a series of benefit concerts in US-Canada with his former bandmates to play their youtube hits. Tomorrow july30 at Toronto John Bassett Theatre.
And I was here because 'After all these years' they are still around doing/having a lot of tours, pretty amazing band.

Journey has rejuvenated! they click so good with Arnel, he is great, he is a good showman and you can see it in the other guys eyes when they look at him sing, they are phenominal together! saw them last nite at the first nite of their kick off tour! I have seen them twice....once with CHEAP TRICK....sold out and once with HEART...sold out.....crowd was NUTS for them.....Arnel is soulful and humble and shows great talent!!

This makes me like Journey even MORE. These guys sound amazing with this new singer because he sounds just like Steve Perry, which is the sound of Journey. Steve Perry rocked and still does because thats essentially him on stage.
Having to replace a lead singer rarely works, but not in this case. He is amazing. I often cant tell the difference. I'm really happy that a whole new generation of people experience this music.

I have been a Journey fan from the beginning and i have also been to Alongapo City, Manila and a few other places in the Phillipines. I'm almost 50 and what i have learned is nothing stays the same, everything changes. I love Steve Perry and nothing will ever take from his time in Journey but now they needed a new singer and they have chosen Arnel Pineda. These band members that have played their signature sound for decades have chosen Arnel. I have heard Arnel sing and I think he is GREAT! He sounds a lot like Perry but at the same time has his own sound. Arnel, thank you for having the courage to step in and fill some VERY big shoes. I wanted to encourage you Arnel and tell you that I stand with you. Now go out and melt their faces off!

I have been to well over 100 concerts. I grew up a metal head. Journey is one of the best if not THE best band I have ever seen live. Over Ozzy, Metallica, Slayer, etc...

My wife and her parents are from Cebu, Philippines. They moved here in the mid '70s. We just met a band from Cebu on a Norwegian cruise line last week. Not only are the Filipinos very talented performers, they are also VERY nice people.
I asked my Filipina gf to marry me this evening. Filipinos are the kindest, warmest people I have ever encountered. She has made me a better person.

Loved Steve Perry as lead singer in the original Journey but gotta say I think Arnel Pineda is AMAZING. JOURNEY is back and stronger than before. Arnel brings such great quality vocals (Perry-esque but yet all his own), an amazing youthful energy and vibrant talent to the group. Congratulations guys and hope you are around for a long, long time.

No, he doesn't. Go compare any LIVE versions of Arnel to Perry. Clean out your ears first. Arnel hacks up the songs because he lacks music training and vocal lessons. He mumbles the verses, and he tends to scream the chorus, and in the middle, he doesn't always have proper phrasing. It's a hack job.

kt No, I'm definitely NOT the only person that thinks the way I think. Ever wonder why they can't sell that many albums anymore with Arnel? The Greatest Hits album from over 30 years ago STILL SELLS 500,000+ copies a year and that's the Steve Perry versions. After all these years, Journey with Steve Perry still outsells anything Arnel has done. You guys are clueless.
Arnel is a poser. He's just a copy cat singer. Has he written his own blues song? NOPE.
He's just mincing Steve Perry, which doesn't NOT mean you understand a music form like Blues.
kt You should spend time watching videos of Steve Perry and listen to his devoted fans. Any time someone brings up Arnel you get mostly people that can't stand Arnel.
Arnel is still with Journey because they can manipulate him and he brings in the Filipino crowd that doesn't have anyone else to idolize in the American rock world. Journey is using this guy to sell albums to a new audience that's no alliance with Steve Perry. Basically stupid people. Filipinos like Arnel because they can relate to him. But others can't. I've talked to older Journey fans that saw Arnel and many of them weren't impressed. Some said he sucked, some said he was just OK, and some didn't care who's singing because they just want to hear their favorite Journey song at a concert because they probably can't tell the difference since they are getting drunk and stoned at concerts and your brain can't tell the difference at that point between good and bad singing.
Oneness100 Steve wanted out of this band and he doesn't even sing like he used to anymore. Get real and move on - like Steve Perry did.
Lastnight I saw the concert they performed in Manila and all I can say is wow! Arnel was an amazing performer. You can tell he puts all heart into his singing. I don't think I have seen an artist pay so much attention to the audience as he did. Do I miss Steve? Of course. But Arnel is a fitting replacement and should be welcomed with "open arms".....no pun intended.

Arnel is brilliant and his story is so amazing in itself...........I guess it must be difficult for Steves` fans to see him so totally replaced, but really Arnell has an amazing voice and can do the job. I say...............just enjoy it and if you don`t? Sit in a dark room and hug your old record collection :0)

....I recognized you purely out of the ways you presented yourself on stage. To these days, I still tell the young ones how good the Filipino bands were back in the 70's, 80's and 90's :^)

ARNEL is a funny guy, I like him, great voice and a great band JOURNEY, I never knew this band until the discovery of Arnel Pineda, I didnt know they play my favorite song, Open Arms, until they came up w/ Arnel. so now I'm a Journey fan all the way!!
