In this video, we delve into the history of the Jamaican beef patty, find out from the locals which brand truly has the best beef patty, and of course, we had to do our own taste test to see which patty our family liked the most!

Persons from the southeast section of the island (Kingston, St Andrew, Portmore, Spanish Town) generally prefer Tastee, (myself included). Persons from the "country" generally prefer Juici.
Is what avaiable mostly you can't get taste in Old Harbour, Clarendon, and parts of St. Elizabeth, Westmoreland and St. Ann. Tastee is definitely most common in Kingston and Mobay as well as Manchester.
As a Jamaican 🇯🇲 myself nothing beats the flavor and crunch of a tastee beef patty!

Mother's main problem is they aren't wide spread enough. That's why I wouldn't put them in the competition. They don't have the volume to compete.
It's a tough choice for me as a Jamaican. I really love patties.😍 Sometimes I find Tastee's patties a bit salty at times. It comes down to the cheese patty for me so I'll give Juici the win over Tastee. Thanks for visiting and supporting Jamaica. 😊🇯🇲

@@TopFlightFamily There's another patty shop called Mother's... It really doesn't compare to the other two. However, they have what's called a "Full House" It's a beef patty with cheese, lettuce, tomato and some persons add bacon. I enjoy that. It's a like cheaper version of a bacon whopper from Burger King 🤣🤣🤣
@@madamekadz Oh that does sound good! Yeah only one person we interviewed picked Mother’s as their fave 😅 so we decided to just keep the taste test between the big two! Who knows though. Maybe over time Mother’s will become a serious contender too!
Tastees is unlike any other, I wish they were in the US because I miss them sooooo bad. Someone had the AUDACITY to tell me to “just go to Golden Crust” I had to bite my tongue

I will never go to Golden crust. Luckily the small jamaican patty shops around South Florida all understand the need for a juicy filling and FLAKY crust
When I was a little girl a man who was from Jamaica moved next door to us, he introduced us to the jamaican patty. It's been a staple food for my family for 40 years now, I still use his recipe!

First of all Bruce's patty was the first commercialized patty (brand now discontinued), followed by Tastees, Mother's then Juci patties. Tastees' patty is by far the number 1 patty in Jamaica. Juci however expanded patties to rural Jamaica. A Tastee me sey all the way.

If a tourist really wants to know the best tasting patty in Jamaica, they would have to come to Jamaica and observe the lines found in each food establishment. Tastee's lines are ALWAYS extremely long and the foods on the menu, especially the patties, are ALWAYS running out and the employees would have to make more for the customers. There is NO COMPETITION between Tastee Patties, Mother's Patties and Juici Patties - AT ALL. Tastee Patties takes the win.

definitely tasetee I left Jamaica many years ago like over 40 something years and when I went back I just wanted to have a beef patty and my girlfriend say juici patties is the best, I have never tasted anything so awful in my life because the Crust was too Thick and it wasn’t freaking it was so heavy and the filling was not great, so Tastee all the way👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾💕

Was in Montego Bay 4 years ago and our first stop was at Juici Patties. Even purchased a few to bring back to NYC.
The next time you all head to Kingston or somewhere there, head to Devon House, there pastries are amazing especially the ice cream! The scenery is really nice too! Loads of shade. It's also close to loads of hotels! And East Japanese, Tastee and juici are both close. Loads of locals and a cool history!

Patty King in West Norwood South London is fire 🔥 there lamb , and the beef in cocoa bread. Come during July or August when its hot 🌝

Juicy patties are more juicy,, tastee patties more tastee like in the taste😊.. but either patties when they cold is neither as juicy or tastee.. so eat & try them both bcz they both good

Its because they interview people from the western areas. South Coast ppl know and prefer Juicy. There is no Tastee in St. Bess and down west. Juicy rum country.

This should not even be a debate. Outside of Kingston & St Andrew people will say Juicy Beef but ALL Kingston and St Andrew residents will unanimously say Tastee.

how did you find a Tastee or Juicie that has a line that does not extended into the nearbye stores parking lot, Tastees are like that one KFC at Sovereign, thats always full, if you know, yk.
Ah, Sovereign is such a nice place, you could have a whole birthday party there, they have a pastry shop, movie theater, high end restaurant and KFC, ooh and dont forgot the toy and beuaty stores! Theres also a lot of fast food and even Chinese restaurants in there, and I think they also have a supermarket.
And of course,it has Azans..what shopping centre in Jamaica does not though.
You can also get some supplies and refill your printer from printing birthday cards I suppose as well. Jamaican independence and emancipation week starts August 1st, so, uh, everyone knows what that means..but hopefully curfew will help, and hopefully people dont speed and crash like they have been doing to beat curfew..

Growing up I loved going to the patty shop in Kingston. The patty was like liquid and I always burnt my tongue. I think it must have been juicy but I can never remember. The only patty in Kingston I didn’t like was mother’s. In port Antonio we had our own patty shops not branded and I loved meatloaf and vegetarian patties made of cabbage and carrot. Nowadays I find both juici and tastee lost some flavour from being prebaked. I miss the long patty crowd yelling over each other trying to get served. The servers could never keep up. 😁
