Store bought patties are HORRIBLE tho. They always taste wet for some reason. I'm saying this as someone who literally lives in the Caribbean. You can tell the difference right away.

People are just pissed at someone being critical, but he's not the only one in the show that acts like that; they're mostly getting retribution (through shitting on him) for a perceived wrong of not adhering to their standards - you can only be an asshole (subjective)about smth, if you're good/the best at the thing (which I find stupid).
People are honestly kind of missing the point of the show (it's not a (basic)cooking competition) but the stupid narrative of "you can't critique without being an expert (at producing the subject), (especially if you have attitude)" is still pretty popular, so I'm not surprised. I'm just kind of disappointed by the idiocy/hypocrisy and lack of not even general but self-awareness.

My grandparents and my dad aunt and uncle came from Jamaica to Canada in 77. Every time I'd stay with my grandparents and I had to go to school my grandma would put a patty in my lunch. Only the other kids with Jamaican parents (4 or 5 of us) knew and they are jealous AF.
I actually don't think Adreyn was being too critical. He rated the first patty with a well deserved score and I could tell the other patties were not that tasty by just looking at them. 🤷🏾♀️

They're right that Jamaicans don't usually make patties at home so to have them do this must've been very challenging.
When I saw Bradley's patty, I knew he was going to win. Then the crispiness confirmed it. Got me wanting beef patties! Adreyn want that bad but I haven't seen him in other videos. He seemed pretty fair to me. However, the big guy had some kinda nerve being critical when his patty was a hot mess.

It doesn't come down to anything because the qualification for the winner is the most similar reproduction of authentic Jamaican cuisine. The real issue arises because they're not consistent about how they rate the food, neither with each other or themselves.

What I love about Jamaican beef patties is that you never know what you're biting into. You can love it or hate it but you're probably so hungry that you eat it all.

Soft yet crispy shell with the right seasoning make the perfect patty, to the local corner store I go to grab one.
I love this series because it teaches me about other cultures food. Jamaican patty is similar to the Nigerian meat pie 😋
One of my friends immigrated from Nigeria and his mom made meat pies once when I went to visit. It was amazing and I haven't had one since 😂 been living rent free in my head for over 20 years now.

Concept-wise they’re similar (as are Latin American empanadas), but taste-wise beef patties are next level.
I mean every culture that has been colonized has a meat pie. Taste wise and texture wise though the jamaican beef pattie if very different to west african meat pies imo.
