I purchased this chainsaw after a strong recommendation from Cliff! Thank you Cliff. I am very new to the world of felling trees! I have one other professional grade chainsaw! With that being said I am learning and practicing felling/ cutting down trees. I do not have anyone to guide me that I know personally that has any skill outside of my limited amount. I am a normal homeowner not a pro, but I am very open to learning.

This is a perfect instructional video. It should be titled " How not to fell a tree or run a saw."
That poor bar and chain . I could hear on my phone how much it was over tightened. Then that tree falling the wrong direction... Pure Green Horn Gold.
I wouldn't be surprised if Echo paid him good money to never use their products ever again in a YT video.

I've been a commercial cutter 40 years the 590 timberwolf is the best saw I've ever owned my crew won't use my sthils or huskys they all switched to echo

I bought the CS590 with a 24 inch bar a few years ago and added the compatible 20 inch bar from Oregon Products. I use it and a Stihl MS170 around our property. They have been very reliable.
Good afternoon Slippery Blue Clay, thank you for watching! I only have about 1-2 hours on both saws and I’m really impressed with them.. Having a longer bar makes bucking up the poles so much easier on your back.
The 170 is awesome! I almost didn't like it til it kind of broke in and I had to retune the idle, now I love that saw
The Echo is the best for the money. I got rim sprocket 24 bar 620 carb double spikes roller chain catcher. I put longer bar studs and made my own double bumper & chain catch. Gonna get the 3/4 wrap handle.
Richard that sounds crazy!! I can not lie I had to google your mods! What would you recommend for someone like myself that has next to no experience with getting more out of the chainsaw..
Hey Joe I remember talking to you on your livestream that one day. About the cs 590 timberwolf. You're going to love that chainsaw. Keep your air filter clean you shouldn't have any problems with. I bought this saw last month with the 24 in bar . Excellent value for the money . After breakin period I moded the muffler and WOW More power 👍👍👍👍👍👍out of the box it came with Oregon chain ⛓️

@@joesoutdoorexperience I ordered my Echo through Amazon. The muffler I did myself with a drill . Unbolt the muffler and top plate on the muffler and drill a quarter inch hole . rinse it out when done and put all back together

I cut around the bolt tubes cut the front half of the muffler off cut around the outlet pipe take all the guts out make a flat to fit with holes to fit the bolt tubes weld it hole in front for 3/4 pipe welded on 1 3/4 remove limit caps stop main jet bleed hole and run it a little rich. It won't rev but it will run under load, cooler and more torque get the heat up out & away from the motor. I'm gonna get a 620 cylinder and pop up piston too. Mine is a real Log Hog.
Nothing beats talking to someone who really knows what they are doing sounds sick. Im over here triple checking myself when I put on a new chain 😂
In some cases it is best to back cut first and wedge it then make your face cut. Then drive the edge in to move the tree. Make sure to leave enough holding wood in the hinge.

I like to make the back cut first on trees I'm felling the opposite way of their lean. Chase it with some wedges and then make an extra wide face cut and wedge it over. It's important in those situation to keep the corners of the face cut as close to level with the back cut as possible. If your back cut is even a little low you end up having to lift the whole tree with your wedges and it makes it more difficult than it needs to be. You needed to get a wedge in there as soon as possible and your face cut was a little deep for a leaning tree as well. You also pretty much cut all your hingewood...general rule you wanna leave 10%

The top of the tree is the heavy part. Most cases the tree will fall the way the top is leaning even if the bottom is leaning the opposite way. Cheers

What size bar is that on it? I have one a echo CS-590 timber wolf with a 24" bar on it, they're good strong chainsaws, I'll like you buy another one in 18" bar
River Sportsman it came with a 20” bar, I was advised to get a bigger bar!! I only have about 30 mins running it and I have to say i really like it.. sorry for the late response

@@joesoutdoorexperience I've got a lil 352 from trimming aka the gf to use. Also Husqvarna 450 and a China 372xp w 24". Have ordered a 20" for the 590. Was too good a deal too not get the big bar. Everyone seems to like them a lot and my local YTer (TC's outdoors) runs one and 620, both at least partially ported
Honestly I can't see what went wrong there, you corrected your notch before you made your back cut, I just can't see the whole story through your camera. 🤷♂️
Benjamin from what I gather.. A lot more of the canopy was leaning the direction it fell.. I have to pay more attention all I know before I cut down any trees I make sure we have exit plans.
Your notch wasn’t deep enough that’s why it fell the other way

The lean of the trunk isn't the whole story. How the limbs and upper weight are distributed determine more of where a tree wants to fall. Wedging is a false sense of security. Trying to make a tree fall where it doesn't want to is what makes for videos of tree felling gone wrong.
Good morning Scott , thank you you are right at the time I didn’t know much about the high vs low side of a tree. I do appreciate you watching and providing information. Thank you I am still learning and comments like yours help tremendously.
Im a new cutter too. The issues I see is this. Your face was WAY to big. On your back cut you went WAY to fast and too deep to quickly. Its important to get a wedge in the tree UNLESS you are confident of its lean and where the weight is. This pole didnt catch much wind so that is Not the issue. IF you had a smaller face you could have gone deeper in the back cut getting a wedge in that EASY... On smaller trees you dont want to pound a wedge in the back of your saw so its important to know when to stop cutting and put in a wedge. The wedge gives you control and keeps the tree off your saw in a pinch situation. When your tree is almost cut up and it sits back on your saw because you didnt use a wedge NOW you have a dangerous situation. if you like a standard face cut ALWAYS start with your angle cut first. that plane WILL work for your falling line on your tree just the same as your flat cut. AND it will allow you to see your chain and prevent Dutchman. When you get good at that style you can go back to the flat cut first.

Is the 13 pounds just the powerhead or entire saw with bar?
Good morning Rorynelson I do not have the owners manual at my house its at my parents but I did just google total weight of saw. As per google its has the power head at 13.2lbs or 6kg and some of the forms I clicked on has the total weight oil, fuel, bar , chain , powerhead coming in at 21.35lbs or 9.6kg.
