Hi Mark, I would suggest you change your channel name to include: taxi, cab, London etc. otherwise I don’t think the algorithm is recommending you to enough people. Good luck and enjoyed the video!
In the States the business of tipping is getting out of hand. Workers beyond those who one would traditionally tip (waiter/waitress, taxi driver, bellhop, hair, nails, pizza delivery...) are now expecting a tip. Today if you order a pizza on-line and actually pick it up yourself you are STILL expected to tip. Enjoyed your video as always. Here's a query for you, perhaps even subject of a video... What is the most unique/strangest/least expected place(s) you've ever had a fare ask you to take them ?
Never knew their was so much tech now in a taxi...having to be prompted by a machine wether to tip etc ! Always enjoy your vids for us crazy cats.......
It is interesting watching the routes you choose. I understand the film has to be speeded up, although for myself I would happily watch for longer with a slower film speed. I think the most interesting choice of route was Cromwell Road to St Paul’s Cathedral. You were obviously making your way to a route intended for through traffic, although to someone not in the know you would appear to be going too far south. I think you have a great attitude to the job, and to tips, grateful if you get one, but not offended if you don’t.
I believe so but the waiting list is still ridiculously long, I understand it takes some getting used to. You also save money on car wash as you’d have time to do it yourself 😂 love the videos Mark be lucky
not a cabbie - quite a tough job worked near shafsbury ave london , like the worse traffic - yet cabbies generally polite cool headed - often use to take to visit clients in west end - taxis other countries overcharged got lost - dint feel safe - think cabbies london best ive come across -
Cromwell rd to St Paul’s via the river if you turned around it’s a dead straight rd A4 constitution hill the mall strand Fleet Street surely better than the river long way round that pin it up lol
Do you drivers prefer cash rather than card payment? Just wondering do you lose a small amount of each card payment? Always want my cab drivers to take as much as of the trip cost as possible.
Yep overall cash is preferred by the industry as we don’t have to pay a commission to the merchant. Sometimes when an app job is taken 2 commissions are payed- app and card payment
We often travel to Green Park to stay at Royal Overseas Club im having trouble walking I have a bad knee so will such a short journey be possible and acceptable, some times we leave our cases there use the tube, and then would use a cab from Green Park back to the Roysl Overseas to collect cases and return immediately to Green Park Station is that ok ?
It was decided by the transport authority’s and put in to practice many decades ago. I’m guessing that paying passengers don’t have to be stuck in traffic and pay more for their journey, thanks for watching!
I've send up to the sueing thing I'm a 52 year old cabbie take me 52 appearances with met police as I'm dyslexia so harder even though I already was a motorbike courier in London for 7 years 😮still did it good video
I expected your daily tips total would have been something like £20 minimum. Paying cash I always rounded up e.g. £26 hand over £30. £16 hand over a score. I must be too generous a person. With the card machine I’ll add 10%. If I’ve booked a lift to say Heathrow and it will be £100 I’ll give a tenner in cash. Mind you it’s a rarity a driver would ever help with the luggage and if they did I’m sure more would tip more, but probably a lot wouldn’t so drivers have no interest in helping
I understand the airport (Heathrow) isn’t for everyone but I do find it bizarre you come in from west London and don’t start at the airport. I drive 50 miles to start at the airport and usually make £30+ in tips alone each day.
Hi Mark. I've a video suggestion for you. What's the weirdest places you've ever been asked to drop people at? Perhaps cabbies will add their own stories in the comments.
Here's a tip for all drivers , please be very careful travelling through Hyde Park , our favourite immigrant vigilante cyclist is using this as his no.1 stomping ground for catching drivers using their phones....don,'t do it guys.
Rubbish. All what HMRC wants are a completed self assessment and nothing out of proportion. They don't have time to take notes over a few chocolate buttons. 50k bounce back loan then you have a different conversation
Tell me why do you think you deserve a tip ? I know it’s just a habit the public have got into. But why taxis, you make good money, so why tip you for doing your job ? I worked with the public, gave great service but was never tipped. I can’t even afford to use a black cab never mind tipping 🤷♂️
Do you actually know how much taxi drivers make? Expenses, insurances, rentals, car payments? Self employed-no holiday or sick pay? Try halving what you think we make. Oh, ad hen it's quiet-some days you can be lucky to go home with £40. Imagine that after an 8 hour shift waiting for fares.
Tipping is up to the individual there's no pressure or expectancy to do so and in the UK is normally for good service I would not say driving a black cab is good money nowadays certainly nothing like it was year's ago with the costs and expenses involved £76,000 for the new levc then interest on top , fuel, insurance, fee's etc before you make a wage it's long hours often missing out on family time with no paid holidays, sickness and pension contributions and would definitely say once it's all divided up it's a minimum wage job with having to work unsociable hours, weekends and national holidays dealing with all types of people , taxi driving is more of a lifestyle than a career there is a lot of downtime and little breaks during the working day not making money and quiet times of the year mostly in the winter months I enjoyed the video, be lucky 👍
I am not a Cabbie, but I always tip serving staff in Restaurants and Cabbies and even Minicabs. I find it is only bitter middle class life failures that are jealous of people out there happy to earn their worth with graft
Love these shifts videos, Great for those of us who are on the knowledge to get a good idea of the black cabmans route.
Love watching these videos. They really keep me motivated on my knowledge journey! Just about to start the second blue book. Keep them coming Mark!
Another great video from a taxi driver in Plymouth
Thanks for another good video Mark.
Nice to see your shift with the added interest of the tips. Card machines must make people less inclined to tip, I would think.
Yea think it's easier not to tip if your paying by card. Is what it is.
Hi Mark, I would suggest you change your channel name to include: taxi, cab, London etc. otherwise I don’t think the algorithm is recommending you to enough people. Good luck and enjoyed the video!
Thank you, that is something I certainly am considering now

Ohh good question! I will ponder and get back to you, also maybe a good subject for an episode. Thanks for watching

He needs to work around the requirements of TFL
@@bigjml Can you explain what those requirements are?

Love the shift videos!
Great video - hope your well - more B roll for engagement 🎉🎉
Thank you Sir for the insight into what a BLACK taxi shift is really like 😊😊😊
I believe so but the waiting list is still ridiculously long, I understand it takes some getting used to. You also save money on car wash as you’d have time to do it yourself 😂 love the videos Mark be lucky
Great vid mark from a kol student
Mark, Would you consider Paddington Station to a hotel near the Gloucester Road tube station a good destination as in worthwhile?
Yes indeed I don’t see why not
not a cabbie - quite a tough job worked near shafsbury ave london , like the worse traffic - yet cabbies generally polite cool headed - often use to take to visit clients in west end - taxis other countries overcharged got lost - dint feel safe - think cabbies london best ive come across -

It’s wide agreed but Picadilly and park not available because of resurfacing. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Waldof hotel the MALL has requested a private hotel access only....no other public vehicles to gain access to the MALL.
Surely that won’t get that! They’ll have to use spring gardens
Do you drivers prefer cash rather than card payment? Just wondering do you lose a small amount of each card payment? Always want my cab drivers to take as much as of the trip cost as possible.

Has anyone ever got in your cab and said "Follow that car."?
Funnily enough quite a few times!
Why are taxis allowed to use the bus lane?
It was decided by the transport authority’s and put in to practice many decades ago. I’m guessing that paying passengers don’t have to be stuck in traffic and pay more for their journey, thanks for watching!

Pre text I can spell 🤪
Well done and thanks for watching 👍
What do you mean by eg Comply Parliament Square?
another name for 'Negotiate'
It means go around it the correct way. It is a knowledge of london term you always say comply at roundabouts, then leave by.
Just so you know, it's King Henry's Rd ( S on the end )
Noted, thank you and appreciate you watching

Sad to hear not more drivers help, you sound like a valued customer! Thanks for watching
You sound a bit to posh for a cabbie 😂 hello from Christchurch, New Zealand 🇳🇿
Hello Christchurch! And thanks for watching love viewers from overseas!
What do you mean by "half term"?
It’s the mid term school break that lasts for a week when they all close down
20% in the US seems standard.
I understand the airport (Heathrow) isn’t for everyone but I do find it bizarre you come in from west London and don’t start at the airport. I drive 50 miles to start at the airport and usually make £30+ in tips alone each day.
I haven’t even got a reader, Also I just hate sitting around, are they letting new drivers sign up for the park yet?
Hi Mark. I've a video suggestion for you. What's the weirdest places you've ever been asked to drop people at? Perhaps cabbies will add their own stories in the comments.
That’s certainly one I’ll look into!
Card machines ruined tips for me!!!
Did the cyclist notice the phone or did you tel him?
Well I had a passenger in the back so couldn’t stop, he didn’t notice, had headphones on would’ve heard it drop if he wasn’t listening to music
Every tip is a bonus
Soon be the end of kipper
Here's a tip for all drivers , please be very careful travelling through Hyde Park , our favourite immigrant vigilante cyclist is using this as his no.1 stomping ground for catching drivers using their phones....don,'t do it guys.
Great advice! Keep it in the cradle
Uber app? 😮
More interested in the actual take than what you got in tips
It’s all about the mystery
It’s an E mate not a Y
ME hotel not MY 😆🤦🏻♂️
Cheers! Couldn’t read that, thanks for watching!
Do you really declare all you earn, l know many taxi drivers are robbers because l have been robbed.
Meter fares are controlled by TFL London taxi drivers have no way of interfering with the meter. Not sure how you were robbed
HMRC making notes
Rubbish. All what HMRC wants are a completed self assessment and nothing out of proportion. They don't have time to take notes over a few chocolate buttons. 50k bounce back loan then you have a different conversation
Yes, we watch all these channels.

A very good summary of the headwinds that taxi drivers face in current times, thank you for watching
In the video I did explain that I do not expect to be tipped, thanks for watching
